Merry Christmas with a Full Moon in Cancer and Uranus Direct

Merry Christmas, everyone!   For the first time since 1977, we have a Full Moon in Cancer on Christmas Day.  It won’t happen again until 2034, so this should be pretty special.  The full moon will occur at 6:12 a.m. in 3 degrees of Cancer and will be trining Neptune in 7 degrees of Pisces.  The trine to Neptune will be a boon to healing and forgiveness in relationships.  A full moon in Cancer on Christmas Day can actually soften our defenses as we are able to access our feelings and truths can be exposed.  We don’t need to fear being sentimental during this full moon and this may turn out to be a Christmas that promotes growth in all of our relationships and may actually help to minimize family tensions. All of the water signs—Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces should reap the benefits of this full moon.

On Christmas Day, Mercury in 21 degrees of Capricorn will also be trining Jupiter in 22 degrees of Virgo.  This beautiful aspect in earth signs will help ground us and provide impetus for thinking clearly.  Santa Claus may really deliver the goods this Christmas!

The Cancer full moon will be conjunct my south node in the 9th house and Mercury will be conjunct my Chiron in the 4th house.  I have been undergoing an intense healing journey for the past couple of years and I suspect that Christmas Day 2015 will be a time of releasing old wounds and moving forward.

I know that it sounds like I have been waxing rhapsodically about this full moon, but it is still a full moon and I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence as an astrologer if I didn’t mention the potential pitfalls of this particular full moon.  We need to remember that financial issues and any fears accompanying our security may surface at this time because Capricorn is all about security.  The Sun is in Capricorn opposing that Cancer moon, so emotions regarding our security may be intense.  I also have my north node in Capricorn in the 3rd house, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some action on that front for me with this full moon.

The other big astrological event that occurs on Christmas Day is that Uranus stations direct in 16 degrees of Aries after being retrograde since July 26, 2015.  This can bring abrupt, unanticipated changes that might initially feel quite jarring, but are ultimately meant to serve our highest good.  So don’t react, try to step back and reflect.  With Uranus in the spotlight, the best way to harness its energy is to trust our intuition and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box.  I am sure that the relationship theme will be amplified in my life because Uranus is stationing direct in my 7th house.

If you are curious about how Uranus stationing direct will impact you as it triggers the effects of the Uranus Pluto squares of 2012-2015, please consider getting an astrological reading.  We won’t have any more exact Uranus Pluto squares, but by Valentine’s Day 2016, these two planets will be only one degree away from an exact square.  This means that more changes are on the way…

The north node moved into Virgo recently, which has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services. If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off.  Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

Mercury Enters its Retrograde Shadow Period and Triggers the Uranus Pluto Square

Mercury is poised to enter its “shadow period” before its official retrograde commences on January 5, 2016 in 1 degree of Aquarius.  But most of this Mercury retrograde will be concentrated on the sign of Capricorn.  Mercury will enter the shadow on December 19, 2015 in 14 degrees of Capricorn and will continue transiting the sign of Capricorn before it stations retrograde on January 5th in 1 degree of Aquarius.  Mercury will station direct in 14 degrees of Capricorn on January 25, 2016 and will officially leave the “shadow period” on February 14, 2016. In 1 degree of Aquarius. So, Valentine’s Day should be really special in 2016, and the potential for mixed messages will be eliminated.

When Mercury enters its retrograde shadow on December 19th it will also be conjuncting Pluto in 14 degrees of Capricorn.  Communication could get really intense on this day.  On the following day, December 20th, Mercury will be squaring Uranus in 16 degrees of Aries.  This aspect is ripe with potential for surprises and shocking revelations.  Major decisions may need to be made and there are definitely more changes coming.  We may find ourselves open to new ideas that alter the course of our future and we may find ourselves speaking our truth even more forcefully than usual. Mercury aspecting both Pluto and Uranus on two consecutive days will definitely trigger the shock waves that reverberated from the seven exact Uranus Pluto squares that ran their course from 2012 through 2015.  Although we won’t experience any more exact Uranus Pluto squares, the weekend of December 19-20th will come pretty to close to bringing back that roller coaster feeling of conflict between structure and change.  And it will resurface again during the first week of February 2016. This could be an anxious, mentally exhausting weekend.

How will people experience Mercury’s shadow retrograde?  Be mindful that when Mercury enters the shadow period, the very things we associate with Mercury retrograde- delays in communications and transportation, avoiding signing contracts or accepting new jobs, and purchase of electronic goods are fraught with potential to go astray.  I hope that everyone has purchased all of their electronic gifts by now.  Mercury retrograde is all about the RE: reschedule, rethink, reevaluate, research, and rewrite.  If you have any planets in 14-29 degrees of Capricorn, your career may take a hit from this Mercury retrograde.  And if you have any planets in 0-1 degree of Aquarius, you may also feel this one in terms of unconventional ideas surfacing.

Personally, I will be experiencing this Mercury transit in a big way.  Mercury in Capricorn will be exactly conjunct my natal Chiron in the 4th house on December 27, 2015 and again on February 8, 2016 as it prepares to leaves the shadow period.  The perks of this transit can manifest in an increase of my intuitive understanding (which is great for my business), sudden awareness of new ideas for healing, and being open to embracing new ways of solving old problems.  But the flip side is that I could become hypersensitive and feel wounded by what it is communicated.

And when Mercury officially enters it retrograde period on January 5, 2016 in 1 degree of Aquarius, it will be squaring my natal Mercury in Scorpio.  WHAT FUN!  How is that one going to play out for me?  It will probably be a day of frustrations when I am going in too many different directions, trying to be the ultimate multi-tasker with too many choices facing me.  I may wind up in a very argumentative mood that day.  Beware to anyone who tries to cross me that day.  But I get to experience it again on February 14th.  Let’s hope that I learn my lessons well in January so that I don’t feel like my life is taking on a Groundhog Day atmosphere in February!

New Moon in Sagittarius and T-Squares

The New Moon is here in all its glory in 19 degrees of Sagittarius, exact at 5:29 a.m. on December 11, 2015. This new moon brings the hope and faith associated with Sagittarius but is complicated by a couple of very intense T-Squares.  What is a T-Square?  A T-Square occurs when two planets or points in opposition to each other form a square with another point or planet, which is the focal point of activity.  This planet or point may strive to overcompensate as a result of being the recipient of all this action.  A T-Square stimulates drive and courage as well as tension and conflict.  I will be discussing a cardinal T-Square and a mutable T-Square that are featured in this New Moon.

Cardinal T-Squares can be very active and achievement oriented because they produce enterprising behavior and love to initiate, but can also generate a great deal of impatience.  I can attest to this fact because I have a cardinal T-Square in my chart involving my Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Cancer, my Chiron in Capricorn and Neptune in Libra.  I know that this is a huge factor in contributing to my natural impatience and desire for my own business.  Unfortunately, a cardinal T-Square also has the potential to waste energy in needless conflicts and frustrations.

The cardinal T-Square in this New Moon involves Mars in 16 degrees of Libra opposing Uranus in 16 degrees of Aries and squaring Pluto in 14 degrees of Capricorn.  Remember those seven Uranus Pluto squares between 2012-2105?  If it feels like they are back again, you are not imagining it. By December 31, 2015, Pluto will be in 15 degrees of Capricorn and Uranus will be in 16 degrees of Aries.  This is not exact, but it is the closest these two planets have been since the last exact square on March 16, 2015.  Cardinal T-Squares are renowned for triggering crisis situations and the Uranus Pluto squares were all about crises that forced us (kicking and screaming all the way for some folks) to transform our lives for the better by purging and releasing outworn structures.  So we are getting a taste of that energy again.  The Uranus Pluto squares may be over, but believe me when I say that the aftereffects will still be felt through 2016.

The mutable T-Square with this New Moon involves the Sun and Moon in 19 degrees of Sagittarius opposing Jupiter in 22 degrees of Virgo squaring Chiron in 17 degrees of Pisces.  A mutable T-Square produces restlessness and frequent changes of mind but possesses the ability to adapt well to changing circumstances.  I always love to describe mutable energy as the ability to go with the flow and is like a chameleon.  Major themes of this mutable T-Square include conflicting belief systems between faith and fear and developing new skills and structures for problems that arise.  The New Moon’s square to Jupiter is overexuberant and can indicate that too much of a good thing will still not be enough for us.

I am not surprised that Chiron is the focal point of this mutable T-Square.  Chiron in Pisces has been a major player throughout 2015 and I have no doubt that it will continue through 2016.  Healing is a huge piece in this cosmic arena and it is not one who goes gently into the good night.

While these two T-Squares featured prominently in the New Moon, we also have had some really positive, flowing aspects that accompanied the Sagittarius New Moon.  Uranus in Aries is trining the New Moon, so don’t rule out any pleasant surprises.  Mars in Libra also sextiles the New Moon, which is definitely favorable for relationships.  The healing theme is reinforced by the trine of Neptune in Pisces to Venus in Scorpio.  This aspect can help heal troubled relationships and boost spiritual connections. It also inspires creativity.  So this New Moon definitely has the potential to live up to its upbeat, optimistic, Sagittarian ideals.

As for me, I am relishing the fact that Mars in 16 degrees of Libra has finally entered my first house and left my 12th house.  I am feeling more energized and empowered.  And I am joyfully experiencing the buzz of the Sagittarius influence on my 3rd house, as communication expands and I hear from new and existing clients.

The north node moved into Virgo recently, which has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services.
