The First Super Full Moon of 2021 is in Relationship-Oriented Libra

 

The first Super Full Moon of 2021 is about to happen on March 28, 2021 in 8 degrees of Libra.  It is larger and closer to earth than most full moons, it can be perceived as being more beautiful because of its visibility and this one will pack a double whammy on love and relationships because it occurs in the relationship-oriented sign of Libra.

We know the drill that emotions run high around a Full Moon.  This one is no exception due to the fact that Chiron in Aries is prominently aspected.  It is conjunct both the Sun and Venus in Aries, which will serve as a reminder of the painful parts of love. And the Full Moon in Libra opposes Chiron and Venus in Aries. But Chiron’s presence also lends a healing vibe to this Full Moon. The past week has been very emotional, especially with two mass shootings occurring in the United States: in Georgia on March 16 and Colorado on March 22.  The Moon in Libra seeks justice and the south node of the Moon is in Sagittarius, which pertains to legal issues.  Is it possible for us to have some closure or resolution (major Full Moon themes) on gun control?

I am not exaggerating when I say this Full Moon could have some major resolution issues.  Think back to October 16, 2020 when we had a New Moon in 23 degrees of Libra.  Since New Moons represent beginnings, what seeds for a fresh start were you planting then?  You just might be reaping the benefits of those endeavors now.  If you have any planets in the early degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn expect to be impacted heavily by this Full Moon.

This Full Moon in Libra falls in my 12^th house of karma, and is conjunct my Libra ascendant.  And it squares my nodes in the cardinal signs of Cancer and Capricorn. As if that weren’t enough emotional intensity, the north node of the Moon is also conjunct my Gemini Moon in my 8^th house. So I am highly attuned to this energy and am feeling my psychic and empathic oats.  If you are an Aries, you will feel the effects of this Full Moon in your relationships.  Libras will be very emotional and not averse to hiding their feelings, while Cancers and Capricorns will be striving to find a work/life balance. And we can’t rule out more unpredictable events occurring due to the fact that the Full Moon is inconjunct Uranus in 8 degrees of Taurus.

Contentious communications are likely during this Full Moon because we also had Mercury in Pisces squaring Mars in Gemini on March 23.  On that day I tweeted:

But as challenging as all of this sounds, we do have some hope emerging from this Full Moon.  There is a Grand Trine in Air present involving the Moon in 8 degrees of Libra, Saturn in 11 degrees of aquarius and mars in 14 degrees of Gemini. In keeping with one of the other themes of a Full Moon, a lot of information will be revealed around this time.  And having Saturn involved in the mix is a good thing; it will help provide the willingness to work on healing the pain in relationships by working with the Moon and Mars in Aquarius.  It’s literally the power of three with emotion, structure and action.  I know that I have my own set of personal challenges with this Full Moon, but a part of me is stoked because I have a Grand Air Trine in my natal chart and while I don’t look forward to having Saturn conjunct my natal Mars, I am curious as to how having Mars in Gemini conjunct my natal Moon will manifest.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Full Moon in Taurus Delivers a Punch of Healing Energy with Grand Earth Trine

The last supermoon of 2015, the Hunters Moon on October 27^th in 4 degrees of Taurus, delivered a potent punch of healing energy that received a boost from a grand earth trine and a heavy emphasis on Virgo energy.  The major themes of this powerful full moon were healing and completion.  I loved what Jessica Adams tweeted on that day:

“Horoscope update.  For so many people, one door is closing and another one is opening.  This door is marked 2017-2018 and it’s huge.”

I know that I have long felt that 2017 would be a lighter, brighter more promising year and I strongly concur with Jessica Adams.  By 2017 I believe that we will all be through processing the changes and, for many, accompanying turmoil, of the Uranus in Aries Pluto in Capricorn squares that ruled the astrological landscape from 2012 through 2015. 

Venus is the ruler of Taurus and on October 27^th it was in Virgo conjunct Jupiter and Mars in Virgo while simultaneously opposing Chiron in Pisces and inconjunct Uranus in Aries.  Is it any wonder that many of us experienced sudden opportunities to heal old wounds as a result of this full moon?  My tweets on October 27^th reflected these aspects and themes:

“Venus in Virgo opposing Chiron in Pisces and inconjunct Uranus in Aries on #fullmoon can suddenly bring up old emotional wounds for healing.”

“This is going to be one intense full moon, but it may be ultimately be very cathartic.”

The healing energy that went down was probably more spiritual than physical due to Chiron’s presence in Pisces.  Chiron in Pisces has a way of bringing up old issues regarding trust in a rather direct contrast to the Virgo energy of practical effort to resolve problems.  The wounds that Chiron brought to light were undoubtedly deep-rooted in childhood traumas that were still unresolved.  On October 28^th that Taurus moon sextiled Chiron in Pisces, which continued the theme of deep emotional healing.  When Chiron in Pisces is involved, you really can‘t escape deep emotional healing.

The Taurus full moon also activated a grand earth trine with Pluto in Capricorn on the 27^th and then with Mars, Jupiter and Venus in Virgo in the wee hours of October 28^th.  All of this earth energy supports setting plans in motion and focusing on the big picture.  It gave a stamp of approval for getting to work on something that was deeply meaningful.  Jupiter in Virgo was a huge player in this configuration.  I know, Jupiter is not exactly a barrel of laughs in the sign of Virgo the way it was in Leo, but I concurred with a reading client this past week that the true measure of the benefits derived from Jupiter in Virgo come from helping others.

Obviously this full moon was very intense for the signs of Taurus and Scorpio.  If money issues arose during this full moon, chalk it up to the Taurus/Scorpio axis of personal finances versus joint finances.  Taurus may have literally felt obsessed with income and scrutinized their investments due to the emphasis on belongings and values.  Since Venus was so heavily involved in this full moon courtesy of that grand earth trine, Scorpio experienced it regarding the issues of the ability to love and be loved.  A major lesson for Scorpio was to figure out how to assert oneself while affording a loved one the same opportunity.  It literally felt like walking a tightrope in terms of trying to balance personal needs with relationship needs.  Scorpios may also have felt compelled to transform a deeply complicated situation and examine their need for stability.

I have my moon in Gemini in the 8^th house, which is Scorpio’s domain.  I dealt with issues of stability and security thanks to the Venus in Virgo Chiron in Pisces opposition squaring that moon.  It triggered some painful wounds that I thought had healed when transiting Chiron in Pisces was squaring that natal moon in early 2015.  It felt like a sucker punch coming out of left field, but obviously these issues weren’t completely resolved or I wouldn’t have been so blown away or felt so vulnerable.  Sometimes even astrologers don’t see it coming, but we have to roll with the punches and adjust, just like everyone else.  As a bona fide recipient of an inconjunct to my moon from Saturn, I have experienced that lesson many times in my life.

The plot thickens and the Scorpio intensity ramps it up a notch on November 2^nd when Mercury enters the sign of Scorpio.  Mercury was retrograde this fall, so it has taken a little longer to cruise into Scorpio.  Be prepared for a very different style of communicating than when Mercury was in the air sign of Libra that loves to socialize in a light, breezy manner.   Mercury in Scorpio likes to observe from a distance, take its time processing information and communicate later.  Deeper conversations that are intensely focused are favored.  The time is ripe to probe the hidden and uncover it.  Investigation rules and it’s an optimal time to play detective.

Grand Water Trine Serves as a Life Jacket During Pressure Cooker Aspects

Is everyone still standing?  We just came off the heels of a pressure cooker New Moon in Cancer on July 15th that packed quite a punch.  The Cancer New Moon managed to square Uranus in Aries and opposed Pluto in Capricorn.  Did anyone feel like we were reliving the Uranus Pluto square?  The new moon squaring Uranus also carried the potential for sudden shocking events. Pluto was a major player in this new moon because Mercury was conjunct Mars in Cancer opposing Pluto in Capricorn.  And that Mercury Mars conjunction in Cancer was squaring Uranus in Aries to boot.  How does the Mercury Mars Pluto showdown play out?  It could have triggered deep emotions and defensiveness, leading to power struggles.  But before I heap any more blame on Pluto, it can actually help us purge our demons from our past so that we can move forward, which is ultimately the best way to utilize the energy of a new moon, even one as highly charged as this one.

On July 15^th, I tweeted:

“Major #NewMoon today in Cancer as it squares Uranus in Aries and opposes Pluto in Capricorn.  Expect lots of anxiety and & emotional volatility.”

“Saving grace of #NewMoon in Cancer today is Grand Water trine involving Chiron in Pisces & Saturn in Scorpio.  It gives us faith and tenacity.”

How did people experience that Cancer New Moon?  I woke up feeling edgy and anxious, and the feelings did not lessen as the day wore on.  I also experienced major problems with my new cell phone (a replacement for the previous new one I had purchased a couple of weeks ago) and my very old computer.  Gotta love that Mercury square Uranus in action!  I literally felt like I had experienced a full moon and a Mercury retrograde on the same day!  Friends and clients also told me that they felt tired, anxious and on the verge of mental illness.

But I am still standing, thanks in no small part to that grand water trine involving the Cancer New Moon trining Chiron in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio.  I literally referred to the grand water trine on Twitter as the life jacket when one of my followers commented that it was raining so much it was life jacket time!  I am deeply indebted to astrologer Pam Younghans for her inspiring interpretation of the Grand Water Trine this week.  She described Chiron in Pisces as helping us to have greater trust in how our lives are unfolding, even though we are stressed and unsure of the outcome.  Her take on Saturn in Scorpio described the strength, determination and fortitude to stay the course, while she felt that the Sun and Moon in Cancer gave us love and compassion for ourselves and others.

He spoke about Chiron in Pisces in relation to our source of profound bitterness which can ultimately be healed and transformed into our greatest generosity.  While he acknowledged that Pisceans are really taking a hit these days with the current Chiron in Pisces transit, he urged all of us to look at our own natal Chiron is and where transiting Chiron in Pisces is affecting our charts.  Chiron in Pisces is currently transiting my 6th house, trining my Cancer midheaven and Sun in Scorpio.  So healing and the grand water trine are a big deal for me this week, to say the least.  My work has been a great source of sustenance and salvation for me during this intense, pressure cooker filled week.

Mars Joins the Cancer Love Fest

Mars entered the sign of Cancer on June 24^th, where it will reside until August 8^th.  The summer love fest is official now that it is accompanying the Sun. We are done with the hyper, frenetic multi-tasking days of Mars in Gemini.  Mars in Cancer can be a slower burn. On June 24^th, I tweeted:

“Mars enters Cancer today for 6 weeks where it is not comfortable.  We could take things too personally and become defensive.”

Mars in Cancer will definitely enhance the protective urge towards home and family during its transit, but Mars is extremely uncomfortable in the sign of Cancer.  It is literally considered to be in detriment in Cancer because Mars is exalted in Capricorn.  Cancer is an emotional water sign that can be prone to defensiveness and over-protectiveness.  Think of the image of the Cancer crab and I think you will get my drift.  When Mars is in Cancer, we have the capacity to tune into the emotional scene and back off when someone is about to lose it.  Sometimes this is a good thing, other times not so much.

How else does Mars in Cancer manifest?  There may be a tendency to swallow our anger and engage in passive-aggressive behavior.  Watch out for those guilt trips to crop up in relationships.  But because Cancer is such a moody, at times unpredictable water sign, tidal waves of emotion could flow and anger could suddenly surface in family gatherings.  And with the 4^th of July coming, three days after a full moon in Capricorn, that is a distinct possibility.

Eating can be another hotspot with Mars in Cancer.  Digestive disorders can arise if we are not careful with what we eat.  Cancer does rule the stomach. The most common sense approach to dealing with Mars in Cancer is to attempt to be more objective and not take things too personally.  This may be easier said than done for many folks. 

Personally, I am facing transiting Mars in Cancer conjuncting my south node on that full moon on July 1^st.  It squares my Libra ascendant on July 19^th and then it enters my 10^th house on July 24^th and conjuncts my Jupiter and Uranus, while simultaneously squaring my Neptune in Libra.  I’m sure it won’t be dull, but I hope I can keep my cool. Impatience, irritability and restlessness are bound to be major themes for me during this Mars transit.

The Sun in Cancer will be squaring the north node of the moon in Libra and the south node in Aries on June 27^th. This transit should help free us to move beyond karmic patterns that make us fearful and over-sensitive. 

On June 28^th, we have some really nice astrological summer energy with Venus in Leo trining Uranus in Aries.  Venus trining Uranus in fire signs will lighten the mood so that we can enjoy ourselves by being more spontaneous, social and more creative. This is a great vibe for summer festivities.

Chiron went retrograde in 21 degrees of Pisces on June 24^th a couple of hours before Mars entered Cancer.  With Chiron in the uber-sensitive watery sign of Pisces, we may find ourselves more attuned than usual to our frightened inner child who experiences difficulty in trusting that everything will turn out all right.  Chiron will be retrograde until November 28^th, affording us ample opportunity to work on healing our deepest wounds.  You might want to consider purchasing my Chiron Report during this transit. Super Full Harvest Moon in Pisces

Get ready for the most inspired and intuitive full moon of 2014! Yes, folks, we have a full moon in the uber-dreamy sign of Pisces on September 8, 2014 at 16 degrees. Pay attention to your dreams because they may be offering you opportunities for healing.

Many of us may be already feeling the effects of this full moon. On September 5th Venus entered the sign of Virgo, where it will reside until September 29th. Venus is considered to be in the sign of its fall in Virgo. It is a very different vibe from Venus in Leo, which demonstrates its love in grand romantic gestures and playful activity. It is definitely a party sign Venus. The theme of Venus in Virgo is showing affection in more practical ways by performing service to others. Virgo is, after all an earth sign and earth is all about practicality, tangible matters and restoring order.

The themes of this full moon include pursuing our dreams and healing. Don't forget that Virgo is the sign associated with health and the Sun is in Virgo. This full water moon will feature lots of intensity but will also provide opportunity for closure if necessary, clearing and support for attaining our goals. It sextiles Pluto in Capricorn and trines Mars and Saturn in Scorpio. And those are very beneficial aspects to have on our side. It is a good thing to have a full moon playing nice with such heavy hitters as Pluto, Mars and Saturn. But be prepared for some volatility because that Pisces moon also inconjuncts Mercury in Libra. This can unleash more unjust actions in the world while simultaneously stirring more global conscience and mindfulness.

On September 7th the Sun in Virgo opposes Chiron in Pisces. This aspect can set the stage for taking us to the root of our spiritual pain by putting us in touch with old childhood wounds. It does give us tremendous opportunities to tap into powerful sources of healing. The full moon on the 8th will also conjunct Chiron in Pisces, allowing for the possibility of hope and healing. This Pisces full moon also trines Saturn in Scorpio, further reinforcing the theme of healing old childhood wounds that are inevitably stirred up by this full moon. The dreamy feel of this Piscean full moon is evoked once again on September 10th when Venus in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces. The moon may have moved on to the sign of Aries but there is no escape from its energy with both Neptune and Chiron firmly ensconced in the sign of Pisces.

Personally, this full moon is falling at the tail end of my 5th house, so I have no doubt that the time is ripe for healing and dissolving creative blocks, especially since it trines my Scorpio Sun and Saturn. It also squares my natal Gemini moon in the 8th house. This is bound to round up the usual gang of 8th house issues in terms of death, transformation, rebirth and financial considerations.

Super Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius

We have a super full moon in 18 degrees of Aquarius at 2:09 p.m. on Sunday, August 10th but I would wager that many people have been feeling the effects of this one for several days due to Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces. A super full moon occurs when the moon's closest approach to the earth coincides with the phase of the full moon, making the moon appear to be bigger and brighter. This is the biggest, brightest one of the year. The Native Americans called this full moon the Sturgeon Full Moon due to the abundant catches of large fish available in the Great Lakes. It can also cause stronger and fuller ocean tides with increased potential for flooding. Is anyone else tired of watching the news of floods across the country? 

Anyway, back to Saturn in Scorpio. No, folks, we can't escape its effects until December 23rd, when it FINALLY moves into Sagittarius. Can you tell that I am an impatient Scorpio who is growing weary of its testing and delays? On Monday, August 4^th the moon in Scorpio trined Chiron in Pisces and set the stage for healing. Chiron is in Pisces until 2019. Saturn followed suit with a trine to Chiron in Pisces on Tuesday, which prompted me to tweet:

"Deep healing is a major theme today as Saturn in Scorpio trines Chiron in Pisces."

This super full moon will form a T-square to Saturn in Scorpio. It is very fixed energy with lots of tension and the need for restructuring. Don't be surprised if some stuck energies wind up begging to see the light of day and be healed! The themes with this aspect are closure and completion because Saturn in Scorpio deals with karma and endings.

The pace of the prelude to this full moon intensifies on August 8th when Mercury in Leo squares Saturn in Scorpio and inconjuncts Chiron in Pisces. Granted, we do have a lovely conjunction between the Sun and Mercury in Leo on the 8th, but it doesn't totally mitigate the tension caused by these aspects. On August 9th the Sun follows suit and squares Saturn and inconjuncts Chiron. The bottom line with these inconjuncts to Chiron is that adjustments need to be made between the ego and spirituality.

This full moon in Aquarius can be a wake-up call that delivers insight like the proverbial Uranus ruled bolt of lightning. We have the opportunity to break through our own self-imposed blockages and breathe some fresh air. Aquarius is, after all, an air sign. We also need to be mindful that the full moon opposing Mercury and squaring Saturn can cause unreasonable demands, impatience and tension.

It is a time for radical thinking and the full moon in Aquarius squaring Saturn in Scorpio forces us to ground that electrical radical charge of energy to have it manifest in our lives. It is definitely time to think outside of the box. Freedom is a major theme, but don't hesitate to reach out to friends and groups with like-minded ideas to pursue alternative methods of healing. As for me this full moon falls at the very end of my 4th house conjunct my Mars. So I have no doubt that this one will affect me in a big way and I need to heed my own advice about being mindful of the tensions and impatience that will undoubtedly occur. But that full moon is literally seconds away from the cusp of my 5th house, so I prefer to focus on its ability to remove any blockages to my creativity.
