Mars Goes into Aquarius, The Sun and Mars Meet Up with Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune Enters Aries

 

The Aquarius energy is intensified this week as Mars joins the Sun, Venus, Mercury and Pluto  on January 23.  Mars is the planet that drives us and is the planet of action.  Mars will be in Aquarius until March 2, 2026.  Mars in Aquarius is very future-focused energy and is motivated towards humanitarian goals.  Technological advancements are also possible when Mars is in Aquarius.  Detachment and a desire for independence are also associated with Mars in Aquarius.  Aquarius is the fixed air sign, so it can be quite stubborn and determined.  There will be a strong drive to take action to benefit humanity when Mars is in Aquarius.  We will be stepping outside of our comfort zone, taking more risks and pursuing more unconventional paths.  That's my natal Mars and I will be experiencing my Mars Return in mid-February.  Mars has a two-year cycle and it is not retrograde this year, for which we can be very grateful.

The Sun and Pluto are conjunct in 3 degrees of Aquarius on January 23 as well.  Be prepared for a day of intensity and potential power struggles.  Feelings of paranoia could surface.  The  perk of this aspect is the ability to obtain insight into deeply destructive behaviors like obsessions and addictions.  It's a time to address relationship issues and make repairs, especially if there are plumbing problems.  Don't be afraid to reevaluate your life path.  This aspect packs quite a punch.

Save the date of January 26, 2026 because Neptune enters Aries until March 29, 2039.  We got a taste of Neptune in Aries from March 30, 2025 through October 22, 2025.  Neptune has a cycle of approximately 165 years and the last time Neptune transited the sign of Aries was from 1861 through 1875. The American Civil War was part of the last major Neptune in Aries transit.  Neptune had been in Pisces, the sign it rules, off and on, from April 2011.  The final months of Neptune in Pisces have been providing us with the opportunity to dissolve illusions and release any feelings of Pisces since late October 2025, and I know that many people, myself included, feel like we are drowning and stuck in a quagmire.  It is time for a change.  We want to take action and Neptune in Aries isn't all that particular about what that action entails.

I encourage all of you to think back to last year when Neptune was in Aries.  Did you you feel like you had more courage to pursue your dreams back then?  Neptune will be in the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, which is ruled by Mars.  This gives us spiritual courage to blend action with our dreams.  Yes, there will be heightened idealism and impulsiveness can accompany this transit.  We are entering a whole new world where we can take direct action to make our dreams a reality.  And on February 20, Saturn and Neptune will be conjunct in 0 degrees of Aries.  This is a really big deal.  Saturn and Neptune are only conjunct every 36 years and it always coincides with significant cultural, political and spiritual shifts by blending the structure of Saturn with Neptune's dissolution of ideals.  In 1989 with the conjunction in Capricorn, we had the fall of the Berlin Wall, in 1952-53, the conjunction in Libra signaled the Cold War and the death of Stalin and in 1917 the conjunction in Cancer featured the Russian Revolution.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was a major change in Russia's government during the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries.

On January 27, 2026, Mars and Pluto will be conjunct in 3 degrees of Aquarius. Mars, representing action and energy is meeting up with Pluto, synonymous with power and transformation.  Get ready to switch gears as determination is amplified in the fixed air sign of Aquarius.  There can also be some obsessive, controlling and ruthless tendencies on display.  Transformation can be a key theme of the day because Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio and before Pluto was discovered in 1930 Mars was considered to be the ruling planet of Scorpio.  Mark my words, this will not be a day for lightweights with these two heavy hitters hooking up.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Venus and Saturn Meet up in Pisces, the Sun Enters Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus Gets Some Good Vibes from Mars and Mercury

 

We are still on a roller coaster ride in the month of January, especially on the heels of the first Full Moon of 2025 that occurred on January 13 in 24 degrees of Cancer.  On January 18, Venus and Saturn are conjunct in 15 degrees of Pisces.  Spoiler alert, folks, this is not going to be a feel-good day.  When Venus and Saturn hook up, we can expect feelings of sadness and isolation.  Venus might be exalted in Pisces, but when it is conjunct Saturn, it can also trigger feelings of victimhood.  We will probably find it difficult to express love and affection on this day.  And we might experience a restrictive influence (thank you, Saturn) on finances.  The plus side of January 18 is that the Moon does enter Libra that evening, which might help us in terms of achieving emotional balance.

The Sun enters the fixed air sign of Aquarius on January 19.  Our focus will shift to more innovative thinking, intellectual pursuits, communication, group activities, a need for freedom, humanitarian issues and technological advancements.  And hopefully we will attain a more detached perspective on the events swirling around us.  On January 21, the Sun will conjunct Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius.  This should increase our power and ability to influence outcomes in our lives but it can lead to power struggles.  Paranoia can also accompany a meet-up between the Sun and Pluto.  Drama or upsets are possible manifestations.  The bottom line with the Sun and Pluto interactions is a strong theme of transformation and rebirth.

I have also included the chart for the United States Presidential Inauguration of January 20, 2025.  The Moon might be in Libra on this day, but it is anything but peace loving.  I am by no means predicting violence on this day, but I would like to briefly discuss the aspects of the day that this Moon makes. The Moon in Libra is inconjunct Saturn in 16 degrees of Pisces and this aspect has a strong theme of responsibilities making it difficult to express warmth due to fear and guilt.  We could feel a lack of emotional support.  I have this aspect natally, so I can attest to that.  Patience and self-control will be important tools for surviving this day.

The Moon in Libra will also be inconjunct Venus in 17 degrees of Pisces on January 20, which can increase tension between loved ones.  Unresolved karmic issues could surface and some kind of adjustment will need to be made. The Moon in Libra is also squaring Mercury in 18 degrees of Capricorn, which can add disagreements, moodiness and opinionated voices to the mix.  Emotional biases could influence our thoughts.  Try to channel this energy through mental work or cleaning up your home.  The Moon in Libra is also squaring Mars in 24 degrees of Cancer, indicating that our passionate desires can be accompanied by a short fuse.  It will be very easy to be overly defensive or cruel on this day.  Use courage to face your pain.

On January 20, the Moon in Libra will also be inconjunct Uranus in 23 degrees of Taurus.  This is bringing an urge for change, but it also indicates tension, anxiety and uncertainty.  Rapid mood swings and emotional outbursts are likely.  And the Moon in Libra is opposing Chiron in 19 degrees of Aries, which can trigger past wounds and traumas to threaten our emotional security.  It's time to face our fears pertaining to abandonment or loss.  Our intuition and emotions will be running high on this day.

On January 23, Uranus in 23 degrees of Taurus finally get some breaks.  Mars in 23 degrees of Cancer forms a supportive sextile to it.  This should increase our desire for fun and excitement.  It is a perfect time to implement changes.  Sextiles represent opportunities that can arise in our lives.  It is also a good time to break away from relationships that limit our self-expression or freedom.  

Mercury in 23 degrees of Capricorn is trining Uranus in 23 degrees of Taurus on January 23.  This will open our minds to new possibilities and emphasize communication as our intuition is on high alert.  There could also be exciting news circulating on this day.  This will be very welcome after a tumultuous month.

The Sun and Venus Stir Things Up and Mercury Goes Direct in Capricorn

 

It might be Friday the 13th, but there is one lucky aspect in play.  The Sun in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Neptune in 23 degrees of Pisces.  This can be a time of imagination, creativity and intuition being off the charts.  It is a perfect opportunity to visualize your future and focus on making your dreams a reality.  It is also a time when we have more empathy and compassion for others, so make the most of this day to launch your weekend on a highly positive note.

Relationships could be facing some hiccups on January 14 when Venus in Aquarius squares Uranus in 14 degrees of Taurus.  Our sense of stability in our primary relationships might be challenged via unexpected events and/or desires.  We might feel an increased need for freedom and excitement that can lead us to experiment.  It can also play out in purchasing unusual items that prove to be impractical in the long run, so be careful with those credit cards.  Venus is right on my Mars in Aquarius in my 4th house, so I am trying to be prepared for this.  Venus in Aquarius is also squaring my Saturn in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus is opposing my Saturn, so I am expecting some turbulence and restrictive influences on this day.

Mark your calendars for January 18 because that is the day that Mercury stations direct in 8 degrees of Capricorn after having been retrograde since December 29, 2022.  Mercury stationed retrograde right on my Chiron in 24 degrees of Capricorn in my 4th house and it will station direct right on my North Node in 8 degrees of Capricorn in my 3rd house.   This is indeed a day of rejoicing, because we can now see light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to misunderstandings, travel woes, and general miscommunication.  We can start to feel more productive as Mercury switches gears into forward motion in this cardinal earth sign.  It is literally a mental wake-up call from the slumber Mercury has been in since late December 2022.  Just remember that the day a planet stations intensifies its energy, so don't expect everything to return to normal on that day.  But it is definitely a step in the right direction and communication matters should start to improve in the coming days.  Mercury will officially be out of its retrograde shadow period on February 7 when it hits 24 degrees of Capricorn.

We have another very interesting aspect occurring on January 18.  The Sun and Pluto are conjunct in 28 degrees of Capricorn. This is a very dynamic and intense configuration.  It increases our personal power, but it can also lead to manipulative behavior, ego clashes and power struggles.  Paranoia is another potential manifestation of this energy.  But we can also choose to use this aspect to obtain deep psychological insights.  I suspect that with this aspect in my 4th house and still in a separating conjunction from my natal Chiron, that is probably how it will play out for me.
