Mercury in Sagittarius Has Some Final Moves Before it Enters Capricorn on January 1, 2026

The year 2025 is ending with Mercury in fire sign Sagittarius.  Mercury has spent quite a bit of time in Sagittarius due to the Mercury retrograde in November.  Mercury had initially entered Sagittarius on October 29 but stationed retrograde in 6 degrees of Sagittarius on November 9, backtracked into Scorpio on November 18 and revisited Sagittarius on December 11 when it was direct.  Mercury in Sagittarius is well-known for its bluntness, honesty and tendency not to think things through.  It's all about the big picture and not so much the details.

On December 27, Mercury in Sagittarius will be forming an irritating inconjunct aspect with Jupiter in 22 degrees of Cancer.  On this day we might have a tendency to ignore the details and promise more than we can deliver.  This is exacerbated because Mercury is in the sign that Jupiter rules.  We are going to need to adjust our expectations or we could be facing some problems...

Mercury in Sagittarius will be trining Chiron in 22 degrees of Aries on the 27th as well, which can play out as communication helping to heal our emotional wounds.  That sounds good to me...

On December 30, Mercury in Sagittarius will be squaring Saturn in 26 degrees of Pisces.  Squares to Saturn are never fun or easy.  With Mercury squaring Saturn, we could be dealing with some distance or separation in close relationships.  We might be feeling more reserved or cautious.  It's also easier to fall into negative thinking, criticism or depression.  Just remember that we are probably seeing the worst-case scenarios and that this is a temporary vibe.

The year 2025 ends with Mercury in Sagittarius inconjunct Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus.  Talk about a wild card vibe.  There can be sudden changes in our thinking and plans for New Year's Eve.  Try not to make any major decisions that involve big commitments on this day.  And be careful with multi-tasking because information overload can be the result if we aren't mindful.

We begin 2026 with Mercury in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces at 8:33 a.m.  This can manifest as some confusion, mental fuzziness, brain fog, misunderstandings, and wishful thinking.  It is occurring pretty early, so perhaps some of us will still be asleep and having some strange dreams.  But I promise that this is the last aspect that Mercury in Sagittarius will make.

Mercury will enter the cardinal earth sign Capricorn at 4:11 p.m. on January 1, 2026 and stay there until January 20.  Happy New Year!  I think it's pretty safe to say that many of us are glad to see 2025 go with all of the changes and uncertainty it has wreaked.  I have no doubt that 2026 will usher in even more changes, but with Saturn and Neptune moving from Pisces to the cardinal fire sign of Aries, we can feel more comfortable initiating and embracing those changes.  And Uranus will be moving into Gemini in April 2026, so we can anticipate a major shift from water and earth to fire and air energy in the coming year.

When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking will be more structured, practical and disciplined.  We will be more organized and detail-oriented.  This is indeed a perfect time to work on those New Year's Resolutions because it is so much easier for us to focus.  It will be a big change from the all over the place vibe of Mercury in Sagittarius.  Just realize that the shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is an inclination towards excessive rigidity, self-judgment and self-criticism.  If we proceed with a modicum of caution, we should fare very well and be quite productive during Mercury's transit through Capricorn.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars in Leo Opposes Pluto in Aquarius Before it Backtracks into Cancer, the Sun Sextiles Saturn and Mercury Moves into Capricorn

 

Happy New Year!  2025 is finally here and it promises to be a year of major transition.  Right out of the gate, Mars in Leo opposes Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius on January 3.  If this sounds familiar to you, it is because this is take two of the three hits of this aspect we are under the influence of. The first one occurred on November 3, 2024 with Mars in 29 degrees of Cancer and Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn.  Ah, that anaretic and critical degree.  We get the aspect the third time in 2025 on April 27, 2025 when Mars in Leo opposes Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius.  Both planets will be direct then, unlike the current one when Mars is retrograde and preparing to re-enter Cancer on January 6.

What are the themes involved with Mars opposing Pluto?  This aspect entails power struggles, transformation, and situations out of our control.  Intense and passionate desires are likely to arise.  Watch out for people who are ruthless, aggressive and domineering.  But this can also be a time of spiritual growth.  We are faced with exorcising the past by confronting fears and letting go of attachments that have been holding us back. Mars and Pluto are both in fixed signs this time (Leo and Aquarius), so it could be quite tempestuous.

We do get a bit of a break on January 4 when the Sun in Capricorn forms a supportive sextile to Saturn in 14 degrees of Pisces.  I have a natal Sun-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio, so I am not usually a big fan of the Sun and Saturn in cahoots.  But when the Sun sextiles Saturn, we have the opportunity for patience, self-discipline and the determination to overcome setbacks and solve problems.  It's easier to pay attention to pay attention to details and deal with responsibilities because they don't feel like burdens.  So use this day wisely to tackle those chores...

Retrograde Mars moves back into Cancer on January 6 and remains in Cancer until April 8, 2025.  Mars will station direct in 17 degrees of Cancer on February 23.  Mars was previously in Cancer from September 4 through November 3, 2024.  Don’t be surprised if some of the issues that we were facing back then resurface. Mars is not a happy camper in Cancer; it's just not that comfortable in the cardinal water sign.  It is considered to be in its fall.  Mars in Cancer is motivated by security, but the combination of aggression and moodiness can make us passive-aggressive in terms of dealing with confrontation. That is the shadow side of Mars in Cancer.  It is testing us to learn how to balance our emotions and our energy, which is no small feat.

On January 8, Mercury leaves the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius (where it was recently retrograde from November 25 through December 15, 2024) and enters Capricorn, where it resides until January 27, 2025.  Yes, Mercury has cleared its retrograde shadow as of January 2 and is moving full speed ahead. When Mercury is in Capricorn, it is quite the go-getter.  After all, Capricorn is cardinal earth.  Mercury in Capricorn is geared towards practical thinking, strategic planning and is very methodical.  It is also very organized, realistic, efficient and goal-oriented.  It likes to build ideas, so it's a perfect to time to launch those New Year's resolutions.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! A Last Blast of Capricorn Energy Before Aquarius Season Starts

 

We are in the final stretches of both the Sun and Pluto in the sign of Capricorn because they are both entering Aquarius on January 20.  Our world will be changing even more rapidly when both of these planets move into the future-oriented sign of Aquarius. But there is plenty of Capricorn action going down in the meantime.  We had a New Moon in 20 degrees of Capricorn on January 11, when I posted:

On January 12, 2024, Mars in Capricorn is exactly trining Jupiter in 5 degrees of Taurus. This is a delightful aspect coming on the heels of a New Moon because it increases our desire to win and be successful.  Lucky Jupiter can be bringing us opportunities and we should definitely take action to increase our wealth and improve relationships.  

Mercury re-enters Capricorn (where it stationed retrograde on December 13, 2023) on January 13, 2024.  Ironically, it will clear its retrograde shadow on January 20 when it hits 8 degrees of Capricorn.  When Mercury is in Capricorn, communication is very decisive, focused, practical and methodical. We want to be very efficient and realism rules.  The shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is coming across in an authoritarian tone or being too rigid in our thinking. Just be mindful of these potential pitfalls. Mercury will remain in Capricorn until February 5, 2024.

The Sun in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces on January 15, 2024.  This will heighten our sensitivity, intuition and creativity.  It also gives us more empathy and a desire to serve others.  This is optimal energy for visualizing and dreaming of a better future.

Mercury in Capricorn will be sextiling Saturn in 5 degrees of Pisces on January 18, 2024.  This is yet another aspect that can be delivering opportunities our way.  Thinking is clearer now, as is common sense and good judgment.  It is also favorable for contracts, so by all means, feel free to engage in some negotiations.

I just want to emphasize that Mars, the Sun and Mercury in Capricorn are making some pretty sweet aspects in the coming week and that we should take full advantage of them. Strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.  The Sun will be departing Capricorn on January 20 with Pluto, Mercury zips into Aquarius on February 5, and Mars moves into Aquarius on February 13.  We need to tap into that can-do, focused vibe of Capricorn before it is gone.  This is a time to get those New Year's Resolutions set and launched. The pace will definitely be picking up once we are in Aquarius season--more on that in next week's post.

Mercury and Venus Change Signs While Neptune Goes Direct

 

We are coming off an intense Full Moon in Gemini that occurred on November 27, when I posted:

I hope you all survived it because Mercury in Sagittarius was also squaring Neptune in Pisces on that day.  The big news now is that Mercury moves into Capricorn on December 1 and stays there until December 23.  But we do have a Mercury retrograde that starts on December 12 in 8 degrees of Capricorn.  Mercury is stationing retrograde right on my North Node in Capricorn in my 3rd house, so this one should be interesting, to say the least...Mercury moves back into Sagittarius on December 23 and stations direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius on January 1, 2024.  Happy New Year! Mercury moves back into Capricorn on January 13, 2024 and stays there until February 5, 2024.

What can we expect when Mercury is transiting the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn? Our ideas are more realistic, practical and down-to-earth when Mercury is in Capricorn.  Thinking and communication can be more methodical and rational.  We will definitely be more direct in our style of communication, but not in the blunt style of Mercury in Sagittarius. However, Mercury in Sagittarius will return in time for the holidays.  But the shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is a tendency towards rigid thinking, pessimism and an authoritarian style of getting our point across.

Venus, the other planet that travels so closely to the Sun, is getting ready to change signs too.  It makes one last major aspect when Venus in Libra squares Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn on December 3.  Venus rules Libra and is very comfortable there, but there is no doubt that Venus squaring Pluto is a challenging aspect. Venus squaring Pluto can see us questioning our worth in relationships while it is accompanied by struggle, conflict and control issues.  I can personally attest to the fact that is a tough aspect because I have it natally with my Venus in Scorpio squaring Pluto in Leo.  Venus has a bit of an edge and more power when it is in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn, so don't be surprised if there is a rebalancing of power in relationships on this day.

On December 4, Venus moves into Scorpio and stays there until December 29, 2023.  Venus is considered to be in detriment in Scorpio because Venus rules Taurus and Libra.  It will be a big change from Venus in Libra.  Venus in Scorpio is not into lightweight dating and craves deep, passionate and intense relationships.  Profound intimacy is the end game with Venus in Scorpio.  Be prepared for a roller coaster ride in your love life while Venus is cruising through Scorpio. The perk of Venus in Scorpio is that it can be good for finances, as Scorpio is associated with other people's money and the 8th house. 

Neptune stationed retrograde in 27 degrees of Pisces on June 30, 2023 and it will finally go direct in 24 degrees of Pisces on December 6, 2023.  It you have any planets from 24-27 degrees of the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius, you probably felt this transit the most intensely.  I also think that if you have planets in these degrees of Cancer or Scorpio, you received a trine aspect from this transit and also felt it to some degree.  Personally, my Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer (both of which are retrograde to boot) got this transit.

When Neptune was retrograde it was a period of confusion, introspection and spiritual exploration.  It could have been a time of engaging in massive self-care.  Neptune being direct can give us more clarity after five months of digging deep.  We should have more empathy and compassion available to extend to others.  It can also be a time to manifest our dreams.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

The Pace Picks up as Neptune Stations Direct, Mercury Enters Capricorn and a Full Moon in Gemini

 

The peace and quiet period of last week is over.  December is starting off with a bang.  Venus in Sagittarius opposed Mars in retrograde Gemini in 18 degrees adding a note of tension to relationships and Mercury in Sagittarius didn't exactly help matters when it squared retrograde Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces on December 1.

On December 3, Neptune wakes up from the nap it began on June 28 in 25 degrees of Pisces and stations direct in 22 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune is a rather nebulous planet and it can be difficult to pin down.  It can literally go either way in terms of creativity, compassion and spirituality being heightened or we can slip back into escapism, illusions and addiction.  False news is still possible and we can't rule out the potential for flooding and unusual weather conditions. But we can definitely Neptune's power to be stronger when it station direct; that is the just the nature of any planet stationing either direct or retrograde.

On December 6, Mercury enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn for an extended stay because guess what folks--the year 2022 ends with Mercury stationing retrograde in 24 degrees of Capricorn on December 29. Mercury will be retrograde until January 18, 2023 when it stations direct in 8 degrees of Capricorn.  Mercury will be in Capricorn until February 11, 2023.  I am a bit concerned because when Mercury stations retrograde it will be exactly conjunct my Pluto in Capricorn in my 4th house...

What can we expect when Mercury is in Capricorn? Communication is about to get a lot clearer, practical, realistic and rational.  The quick decisions and view of the big picture with a highly optimistic perspective that characterized Mercury in Sagittarius are gone.  Reality bites now with Mercury in Capricorn as we seek to build ideas and achieve goals.  We are laser focused on the details when  Mercury is in Capricorn.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is a tendency to be controlling and have more rigid thinking.

The last Full Moon of 2022 occurs on December 7 in 16 degrees of Gemini.  It is not a Super Full Moon or an eclipse but it can still have quite an impact on us.  For some of us, it might be ending a chapter we began with the New Moon in 9 degrees of Gemini on May 30, 2022.  Think back to what was going on in your life back then and see if anything has reached a sense of completion or if you are ready to release something that is not working for you.  

A Full Moon in Gemini has themes of seeking knowledge, communication and a strong emphasis on choices.  It is the sign of duality, don't forget. There is a great deal of mutable energy in this Full Moon chart: the Sun and Venus are in Sagittarius, the Moon and Mars are in Gemini, and Jupiter and Neptune are in Pisces.  Even the Ascendant for my location is in 12 degrees of Virgo, which is a mutable sign.  The Full Moon is exactly conjunct retrograde Mars in 16 degrees of Gemini, which can bring some explosive and fiery anger--just warning you!  It's quite possible that feelings of anger and resentment from the past could surface, but this is a good opportunity to release them. There will be a desire for more spiritual choices however because the Moon is squaring Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces.  Mark my words that Neptune in Pisces will be a key player in this Full Moon in Gemini, but it can either play out as highly spiritual or chaotic.  Jupiter is in 29 degrees of Pisces and is still near enough Neptune to either create a magical vibe or generate more pandemonium.  Just try to remember that with a Full Moon in Gemini we do have choices about how we react.  This Full Moon is conjunct my natal Gemini Moon, so it should be interesting...
