We have a very active week ahead of us that starts today,
April 16. The Sun in Aries is exactly
squaring Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn. The major theme of this aspect is an
increased need to be in control which can be accompanied by conflicts with
authority figures. Don’t be surprised if a crisis creates such an intense
experience that we are tempted to engage in extreme or disruptive
behavior. This can play out as defending
our position or making a major change as we are forced to confront the reasons why
we need to be in control. The upside is
that transformation and rebirth can occur, but as I have frequently said,
rebirth ain’t pretty!
On April 17, Mercury in Aries is exactly squaring Pluto in
26 degrees of Capricorn. Here we go
again with intense interactions and defensiveness. The best way to deal with this energy is to
try to maintain an open mind and don’t argue for the sake of arguing. It’s possible to wind up with a positive
transformation of our ideas and style of communication.
There is really good astrological news to celebrate on April
17, however. Jupiter in Aquarius is in
the catbird seat for receiving bountiful action because Mars in 26 degrees of
Gemini is exactly trining it and Mercury in 26 degrees of Aquarius forms
supportive sextiles to both Jupiter and Mars.
Jupiter really is aligning with Mars in a good way. Mars trining Jupiter increases our desire to
compete and win, so it’s a veritable green light to be successful at any
project you undertake. In other words,
it’s perfectly okay to take a risk because our beliefs are strong and our
intentions are good. Mercury in Aries
sextiling Mars in Gemini speeds up our mental processes so that we are driven
to succeed with a strong sense of purpose.
And with Mercury sextiling Jupiter in Aquarius, thinking about and
planning for the future are highly favored.
These connections involving Mars, Jupiter and Mercury are brimming with
positive thinking and communication just flows naturally. It’s a very uplifting and rallying vibe, so
make the most of it. I always tell my
clients that you have to take the opportunities that Jupiter offers, because if
you snooze you lose with Jupiter.
On April 19, we have two more planets joining Venus in
Taurus, the Sun and Mercury. Venus
entered Taurus on April 14, when I tweeted:
When the Sun is in Taurus, we are more focused on
sensuality and enjoying the pleasures and luxuries in life. Our determination and security needs are
strong. This might create a little
conflict between our need for security and desire for nice possessions. It’s a
time to slow down, get grounded and achieve some sense of stability in our
lives. If the weather permits, get
outdoors to soak up that earth energy.
Just watch out for the shadow side of Taurus, which is
stubbornness. Don’t forget that Taurus
is the fixed earth sign.
Mercury will have a briefer stay in Taurus; it departs on
May 3 for an extended stay in Gemini due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde on
May 29. Mercury in Taurus is
characterized by the prevalence of common sense. This is a big difference from Mercury in
Aries, which was very impulsive.
Mentally, we are focused on the material world and solidifying our plans
to make progress. The shadow side of Mercury in Taurus is rigid thinking.
I think that we will all be feeling the change in the air with
this week’s planetary lineup. There is a
sense of hope which Jupiter aligning with Mars inspires. I don’t think it is an accident that many of
these aspects fall in 26 degrees. I have my natal Neptune in 26 degrees of
Libra and my natal Pluto in 26 degrees of Leo, so I’m sure that I will be
feeling the events of April 16 and 17 intensely.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me
to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are
concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my
in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social
distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions
will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes
clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to
practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity
to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus,
you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have
a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we
set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to
receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss
their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my
clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so
that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my
distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client. I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and

urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the
