The Month of December Kicks off with an Invigorating New Moon in Sagittarius

 

On December 1, we have a New Moon in 9 degrees of Sagittarius.  New Moons are all about fresh starts and the themes associated with a New Moon in Sagittarius include inspiration, learning, adventure and seeking truth.  We literally have the opportunity to stretch out of our comfort zone and expand our horizons.

The New Moon in Sagittarius is squaring Saturn in 12 degrees of Pisces.  This will provide the opportunity to ground our dreams into reality and blend our spiritual insight with practical action.  We will also get a jolt of creativity, confidence and energy when the New Moon in 9 degrees of Sagittarius trines Mars in 5 degrees of Leo.  Mars is slowing down for its retrograde transit that begins on December 6.  

The Moon also conjuncts newly retrograde Mercury in 20 degrees of Sagittarius, which can emphasize sensitive and changeable emotions, especially since it occurs in a mutable fire sign.  So be on the lookout for mood swings and high intuition.  The New Moon in Sagittarius will also be opposing Jupiter in 17 degrees of Gemini, which is also opposing Mercury in 20 degrees of Sagittarius and squaring Saturn in 12 degrees of Pisces. This can contribute to a feeling of stop and start, because Jupiter, which loves to expand and grow is at odds with Saturn, which is more constrictive by nature. So we can expect a massive overload of opinions and ideas to be circulating on this day.  The square between Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces has been a presence in the astrological weather since August 19 when it was exact in 17 degrees and it will be exact again on December 24 in 14 degrees.  The third and final exact square will occur on June 15, 2025 when Jupiter is in 1 degree of Cancer and Saturn is in 1 degree of Aries. The bottom line with this aspect is that it causes frustration and we need to slow down because progress is just not happening as fast as we would like it to.

Venus in Capricorn will be trining Uranus in 24 degrees of Taurus on December 2 and this will bring the urge to try something new in our lives, either in love or finances.  It can be very beneficial for socializing and creative endeavors.  The main thing to remember is to expect the unexpected.  Venus trining Uranus can also be the impetus for scoring some good deals in shopping.  I have a natal Venus-Uranus trine in water signs (Scorpio and Cancer), so I can attest that it is a pretty sweet aspect.

On December 4, the Sun in Sagittarius will be squaring Saturn in 13 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect is not so much fun, as it will bring tests, challenges as well as a tendency towards pessimism and depression.  It truly is a test of character and we need to be patient, determined and hunker down to work hard.

The Sun and Mercury will be conjunct in Sagittarius on December 5.  This will highlight communication and short distance travel despite being in the crosshairs of Mercury retrograde.  We can still feel free to share ideas and meet new people, but realize that those ideas could be up for review when Mercury goes direct on December 15.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Aquarius Party Continues as Mercury Joins the Fray and Uranus Acts Up

 

Aquarius season is officially here with both the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius. We should definitely be feeling the need to find freedom and let our freak flag fly. The ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus, even did its part by stationing direct on January 27 after a five-month nap.  On that day I posted:

The major astrological event of today is Uranus stationing direct after being retrograde since late August. All of the planets are now direct and we can proceed with implementing change. #astrology

Mercury will be entering Aquarius during the coming week, but it has a final aspect in the sign of Capricorn that will impact us before it leaves.  On February 2, Mercury in Capricorn will form a supportive sextile to Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces.  Pay attention to your dreams with this one, engage in some meditation as insights can be gleaned and let your creativity flow.  This is one of the more delightful aspects of the month, so enjoy it.

Mercury enters Aquarius on February 5 and stays there until February 23. We will definitely be primed for thinking outside of the box.  Originality, innovation and eccentricity are calling the shots as we hunger for knowledge.  Mercury wastes no time getting busy when it conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius about an hour after its entrance into Aquarius.  This will add another layer of intensity to communication.  It can also be a time of psychological analysis and getting to the root of problems.  But please be mindful that there is the potential for mental power struggles...  After all, Aquarius is the fixed air sign and it can be stubborn.

Venus in Capricorn will be trining Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus on February 7.  Uranus is really feeling its oats these days now that it is direct and this aspect will give us the urge to try something new in love or with our finances.  We want to break free of any restrictions in relationships.  It's possible to meet new people now and a financial windfall could be in the offing because this is a trine, so any surprises that are delivered should be pleasant.  Trust me on this one because I have a natal trine involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer.

But Uranus kicks into high gear on February 8 when the Sun in Aquarius is exactly squaring Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus. Mark my words, this is not going to be a day with a peaceful easy feeling, to paraphrase that old Eagles song.  It will be characterized by a quite uneasy feeling, anxiety and uncertainty as we sense impending change upon us.  We are aware that change is inevitable, but the issue is that we don't know how or when it will occur.  This is a very volatile aspect that can lead to unpredictable behavior and ego conflicts.  It is also leading into the New Moon in 20 degrees of Aquarius that will occur on February 9.  Uranus will be a major player in that New Moon because the Moon will be squaring it.  I will cover that more in next week's blog post.

The Virgo Posse Expands as the Sun and Mercury Enter Virgo, Mars and Venus Hook Up in Virgo and both Mars and Venus Trine Uranus in Taurus

Mars and Venus have already entered the sign of Virgo, on August 18 and 21, 2019, respectively. Those were big days astrologically and my tweets on those days reflected it.

Mars enters Virgo today and our actions reflect the practical side of Virgo by being more service oriented towards those we care about. Just don’t engage in the shadow side by being too critical. #astrology

But we are on the brink of a lot more Virgo energy coming down the pike.  The Sun enters Virgo on August 23, 2019.  When the sun is in the mutable earth sign of Virgo, we tend to practical concerns as we get organized and become more detail oriented.  It’s also a fabulous opportunity to focus on our health, jobs and daily routines.  I have always found it fascinating that the sun in Virgo corresponds with the whole back to school time of year.  It’s a period of buckling down after the Leo infused fun filled days of summer.  We are still in the throes of summer, but the season is winding down and our minds are turning to more practical matters.

On the following day, August 24, 2019 Mars and Venus will be conjunct in 3 degrees of Virgo. This aspect will increase the desire for intimate relations as the urge to merge spikes.  Creativity will also soar with this aspect.  It’s great party energy, so if you feel inclined to host a party, feel free to do so. This is a very social aspect and it would be a shame to waste it.

Venus and Mars in Virgo are also making some beneficial trines to Uranus in Taurus.  On August 26, 2019 Venus in 6 degrees of Virgo trines Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus.  This is one of my personal favorite aspects because I have it natally with my Venus in Scorpio trining Uranus in Cancer.  And both are retrograde to boot!   Venus trining Uranus inspires us to experiment with old and new relationships.  We crave excitement. And with Venus in Virgo, we just might want to try something new in an existing relationship to fix any kinks.  I’m not saying that we should throw out old relationships, but be open to the possibility of change.  Venus trining Uranus is also a favorable influence for socializing, shopping, creativity and gambling if you’re so inclined.  If you were wondering when it might pay off to buy a lottery ticket, this aspect tends to give you an edge…

On August 28, 2019, Mars in 6 degrees of Virgo trines Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect packs quite a punch in terms of wanting to break free of restrictions and boring routines.  It’s got a strong theme of flying that freak flag that may have been under wraps for a while.  Mars trining Uranus also triggers the need to engage in some risk taking, which we may have to monitor.  But with Mars in Virgo we may have a built in protector; Mars doesn’t act as quickly and impetuously as it does in Leo.  But Uranus in Taurus can be stubborn, so watch that tendency.

Mercury enters Virgo on August 29, 2019 to complete the Virgo posse.  Mercury remains in Virgo until September 14, 2019 and it is a very happy camper in Virgo because it is one of the two signs Mercury rules; Gemini is the other sign. But Mercury is exalted in Virgo and it doesn’t get any better than that.  When Mercury is in Virgo, we can be incredibly productive as we find it easier to get straight to the point.  Communications become more practical with precise thought and speech and we can analyze situations more easily.  This is a perfect comeback to this summer’s Mercury retrograde.  Mercury cleared its retrograde shadow on August 15^th and with Mercury direct and speeding through Virgo, the recent Mercury retrograde will be a distant memory.  It’s full steam ahead with communications.

And the month of August ends with more Virgo energy as we experience a new moon in Virgo on August 30^th.  I will address that in next week’s post.
