The Sun Squares Neptune and Moves into Capricorn While Mercury and Venus Make Some Moves

 




We have some interesting aspects coming up this week with the Sun, Mercury and Venus.  On December 16, the Sun in Sagittarius will be exactly squaring Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces.  Spoiler alert: this aspect is bound lower our vitality and sense of motivation. Fortunately it does occur on a weekend.  The Sun squaring Neptune can also trigger insecurity, confusion and disillusionment.  Overidealizing significant others is another feature of this aspect.  It is also associated with hypochondria and it is not advisable to schedule any medical appointments because it will be difficult to diagnose any symptoms and get an accurate diagnosis.  And it goes without saying that we all need to be careful with drugs and alcohol while we are under the influence of this Neptunian fog.

Mercury recently went retrograde on December 13, when I posted:

On December 18, Mercury in Capricorn will be exactly trining Jupiter in 5 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect generates optimism and can bring good news.  It is okay for travel despite Mercury being retrograde.  True to the nature of Mercury retrograde, we also experienced this aspect on December 7 when both Mercury and Jupiter were in 6 degrees of their respective signs.  The only potential downside of this aspect is a tendency to overthink, because we all know that Jupiter loves to amplify whatever it touches.

We have two major astrology events occurring on December 21.  The first one is Venus in Scorpio exactly opposing Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus loves to shake things up and it could very well deliver some unexpected events that cause tension, upset and disrupt our love life.  It can also bring about financial windfalls or cause us to gamble or overspend.  So be careful on this day.  Venus is exactly conjunct my Sun in Scorpio, so I know that this will affect me quite personally.

We also have two other interesting aspects happening on December 21.  Mercury in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 2 degrees of Pisces. This aspect is extremely favorable for clear thinking, good judgment and organizational skills. Communication should be honest and profound.

The other aspect that occurs before the Sun moves into Capricorn is a little less positive.  Mars in Sagittarius is inconjunct Uranus in Taurus.  This can make us feel restless and impulsive with a desire to rebel against authority figures.  It can definitely feel frustrating as we attempt to assert our ego.  The thing to remember with Uranus is that we could very well be confronted with unexpected events throwing a curveball at us.   And the lesson with inconjuncts is that we need to make some kind of adjustment in order for a peaceful coexistence. 

The Sun enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn at 10:27 p.m. on December 21, marking the official start of winter.  Our focus shifts to being more responsible and ambitious as we seek to accomplish our goals.  We are more result-oriented in our approach to life.  It's a big change from the mutable fire energy of Sagittarius.  We will be more practical, down-to-earth and realistic.  If we are utilizing the Capricorn vibe constructively, we have a good work ethic and respect for authority.  But if the shadow side of Capricorn is prevailing, and Capricorn's ruling planet Saturn is calling the shots, we can be inclined towards pessimism and a tendency to be somewhat bossy.  Food for thought...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Venus Enters Capricorn and the Sun in Sagittarius Meets up with Saturn and Neptune

 


Love and finances are about to take on a more sober vibe when Venus moves into Capricorn on December 9.  It stays in Capricorn until January 2, 2023.  The freewheeling days of spontaneity and idealism that prevailed while Venus was in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius are in the rear-view mirror now.  Mercury entered Capricorn on December 6, inspiring me to tweet:
Venus will be in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn and relationships are going to be taken very seriously now.  There is a strong theme of commitment and we are much more willing to put in the effort to make things work in our relationships. We want relationships that can go the distance, not just a fun fling.  That's not to say that we can't have some fun, but we are able to acknowledge that some work is required and we are not averse to it. Cardinal signs like to take action. We can also use this time to connect with our own inner authority.  It's also an opportunity to get serious about our finances because let's not forget that Venus is about love and money.  On a personal level, Venus will be conjuncting my North Node in Capricorn in my 3rd house in mid-December and my Chiron in my 4th house at the end of December.  This should be interesting...

On December 12, the Sun in Sagittarius will be forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 20 degrees of Aquarius.  This adds another layer to the Capricorn energy.  When the Sun is sextile Saturn, we have more patience, perseverance and the ability to work hard.  We also have more self-discipline so that we can achieve more.  Bring on those accomplishments!  The Sun will be in my third house and Saturn will be in my fifth house, so I am hoping for a creative breakthrough.

The challenges start to appear on December 14 when the Sun in Sagittarius is squaring Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces.  I won't kid you about this aspect: it has themes of dishonesty, deception, lowered vitality, possible hypochondria and difficulty in diagnosing medical conditions.  We are also more sensitive to drugs and alcohol, so be aware of that.  The perk of this aspect is that it can do wonders for creativity.  Neptune is currently transiting my 6th house, so I know that I will need to be careful on day.

Mercury in Capricorn will be forming an irritating inconjunct with retrograde Mars in 13 degrees of Gemini on December 15.  This aspect can see tempers flaring and will probably require some adjustments to keep the peace.  Mars will be on my Moon in Gemini on that day, so I am hoping that no one tries to get on my bad side as I will probably be trigger happy and needing to take my own advice.

Neptune Takes Some Hits in the Week between Eclipses

 


It’s a relatively quiet week astrologically during this week between eclipses.  But Neptune in Pisces, which recently stationed direct on November 28 after a five month nap, will be on the receiving end of some aspects this week.  On that day I tweeted:

On December 5, Venus in Scorpio will be trining Neptune in Pisces.  At first glance, this looks like a delightful aspect.  Trines are good, right?  This is an aspect that favors romance, relaxation, daydreaming and creativity. How much sweeter can you get?  But Neptune has a shadow side and when it is involved with Venus, it can lead to laziness, idealization of partners and an inability to stick with the efforts required to complete a creative project or see a relationship realistically. This is definitely a nice weekend vibe, but just be mindful that it does have its pitfalls, including a desire for escapism high on the agenda.

The major aspect that Neptune in Pisces makes this week is a square from the Sun in Sagittarius on December 9, but before that occurs, we have Mercury in 7 degrees of Sagittarius inconjunct Uranus in Taurus on the 6th.  This aspect can be stimulating and irritating simultaneously.  We may find ourselves fascinated by many subjects but we need to be flexible because things may not work as planned.  I always say that adjustments are necessary with inconjuncts in order for the two planets to coexist.  It’s very possible that you could learn something that rocks your world with this volatile mix of Mercury and Uranus, but try not to make any major decisions at this time.

But now on to the main astrological event of the week.  The Sun in 18 degrees of Sagittarius is exactly square Neptune in Pisces on the 9th.  I won’t sugarcoat this one, it can be a bit of a buzzkill aspect.  The Sun square Neptune lowers our energy levels and undermines our self-confidence to the point that our insecurities start rearing their ugly heads.  Try not to attempt anything that is stressful or close any business deals if you can help it; the air is ripe with deception and people are more gullible than usual.  The need to escape is heightened and you might even feel more neurotic.  We could also be prone to more psychological and health issues.  This aspect is a veritable field day for hypochondriacs. 

It goes without saying that Sun square Neptune creates a smokescreen so that dishonesty and deception flourish.  If you meet someone who seems too good to be true, they probably are.  Don’t believe all of the sweet-talking you hear this day. There is also a predilection towards substance abuse with this aspect that can be dangerous.  I am personally going to try to lay low on this day with the Sun in my 3rd house and Neptune in my 6th house or I could definitely wind up acting like a hypochondriac myself.
