Venus Moves into Cancer, Uranus Stations Retrograde and Jupiter Squares Pluto Take 3

Venus is preparing to leave airy, mercurial Gemini and enter the sentimental water sign of Cancer on July 31, 2017, where it will reside until August 26, 2017.  Venus in Gemini may have been ultra-social, but it had its rocky moments, especially on July 24th when it opposed Saturn in Sagittarius, inspiring me to tweet:
What can we expect when Venus is transiting the sign of Cancer?  Venus in Cancer features a strong emphasis on women, children and real estate.  If you are moving into a new home while Venus is in Cancer, this is a perfect way to capitalize on that energy. We will definitely find ourselves feeling more emotional, sensitive, and nostalgic as it inspires devotion to others.  We may want to entertain at home more too.  Cancer is also known for its nurturing qualities, which may mean for some who are born nurturers what they need to feel nurtured.  If you tend to be a member of the tribe that finds giving easier than receiving, this is an optimal time to get in touch with what you need to feel nurtured.  Venus in Cancer has its emotional ups and downs, because let’s face it, Cancer is also known for being moody, but let’s try to focus on the good times it can bring.

Venus in Cancer will be conjuncting my south node in Cancer, so I am anticipating the potential for some changes in my emotional life as well as my financial situation.  I confess that transits to my south node tend to make me anxious.  They are highly emotional times.  Four years ago I left my full-time job when transiting Jupiter was conjunct my south node and it was not an easy decision but I have no regrets.  While I don’t know if Venus will contribute to ending any relationships, it could very well symbolize the end of some patterns in relationships that no longer serve me.  The south node does represent our over-developed qualities that are our karmic baggage and having a planet conjunct the south node brings opportunity for releasing situations or patterns that no longer serve our best interests.  It’s definitely food for thought and I hope that I can be mindful of that because transiting Venus will be conjunct my south node on August 7, 2017, when we have a lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Aquarius.

On August 3, 2017, Uranus will station retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries until January 2, 2018 when it stations direct in 24 degrees of Aries.  Uranus retrograde happens every year and approximately 40% of the population has Uranus retrograde natally.  I am in that group myself.  Uranus is known for its disruptive nature, but I can attest to the fact that when you have Uranus retrograde natally, there is a strong tendency to internalize that disruptive nature by feeling anxious, stressed out and restless.  I believe that transiting Uranus in retrograde motion will help us process internally what we need to do to allow changes to happen.  Many of us are feeling frustrated these days that the changes we want to see happen aren’t manifesting.  Uranus retrograde denotes a period of higher self-awareness and gives a whole new meaning to the expression that real and lasting change starts as an inside job.

If you have any planets or points (as in nodes, ascendant or midheaven) between 24 -28 degrees in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you will feel the brunt of this transit most acutely. Uranus will be opposing my Neptune in Libra, which has the potential to play out as either confusion or enlightenment.  Reality and fantasy are literally colliding with this aspect.  I am setting an intent for this to be a time of profound revelations.  Neptune has the ability to create quite the smoke screen and I am hoping to dissolve that smokescreen during this transit.

On August 4, 2017, we will experience the third and final exact square of Jupiter in Libra to Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect began on November 24, 2016 and occurred again on March 30, 2017.  Back in March Jupiter was retrograde and Pluto was direct; now that is reversed.  Both planets are in 17 degrees of their respective signs. The central theme of Jupiter squaring Pluto is to achieve super success, justice and a desire to create healthy dynamics in relationships while maintaining a level of integrity.  Squares are challenging aspects that feature tension which promotes an impetus for growth.  Any limited beliefs and limitations will come up for review.  I will not lie about the frustration level inherent with squares and with Jupiter in Libra (the sign of justice and balance) challenging Pluto in Capricorn, the issues of trust and integrity are bound to surface.  Jupiter in Libra is demanding that we act fairly to achieve the success that Pluto in Capricorn craves.  There is also potential with this aspect to create a healthier relationship with ourselves.

The Jupiter Pluto square is impacting me big time as well.  Jupiter is conjunct my ascendant while Pluto is squaring it.  Jupiter conjunct the ascendant can be expansive and pleasant, but it comes with the caveat of watching one’s weight as well as one’s ego.  I can’t let Jupiter expand my physical body or project an arrogant persona.  And then there is Pluto in Capricorn featuring the potential of intense encounters that hold the key to transforming important relationships.

If you are curious as to how these astrological changes are impacting you or seeking more spiritual insight into your life, please consider getting an astrological reading. An astrological reading can provide valuable insight and tools.  If you are not quite ready for a full blown natal interpretation or a solar return forecast, I also offer a basic astrological reading that will offer insight into your astrological DNA and the major themes in your life by delving into any pressing issues, one question astrological readings and composite couple readings that offer insight into the purpose of a relationship. And I offer shorter transit readings for three and six months. If you purchase a three or six month transit reading, I will .even take a peek at the August 2017 eclipses. The August eclipses promise to be heavy hitters because they will occur in the signs of nodes, Leo and Aquarius.

A Powerful New Moon in Leo Sets the Stage for Major Changes

The first of two new moons in Leo this year occurs on July 23, 2017 in 0 degrees of Leo.  That’s right – I said two new moons in Leo.  The second one is the much ballyhooed solar eclipse (aka new moon on steroids) on August 21, 2017 in 28 degrees of Leo.

This new moon promises to be very potent because it involves so many planets in Leo and fire signs.  Mars entered Leo on July 20th, the sun enters Leo on July 22nd and Mercury, as well as the north node are also in Leo.  Saturn remains in Sagittarius and Uranus and Eris are in Aries.  Saturn, Mercury and Uranus are forming a grand fire trine.  The themes of a Leo new moon include heart-centered energy, creativity, romance and playfulness.  Everyone knows that a new moon is a perfect time to set new intentions and with the sun and moon conjunct Mars in Leo to boot, it’s a perfect time to channel all of that energy and initiative in a constructive way to set some new intentions for a fresh start in whatever area of life this new moon falls in.  For me, it is in my 10th house of career.

Mars in Leo is a key player in this new moon because we are still under the influence of the recent Mars/Uranus square which occurred on July 17, 2017 and inspired me to tweet:

The results of the recent Mars/Uranus square include impatience, a tendency towards being accident prone, an urge to break free from restrictive influences and rebel against authority.  The sun, moon and Mars are squaring Uranus on this Leo new moon, which will encourage us to be bold, courageous, take risks and step out of our comfort zone.  The north node of the moon in Leo amplifies the theme of stepping out of our comfort zone because that is what the north node likes to do.   Mars in Leo can also make us prone to temper tantrums, as we can literally roar like a lion if we’re not happy.  But Mars in Leo is very direct and assertive, so I think that many of us are grateful to bid adieu to the somewhat passive aggressive energy of Mars in Cancer.

All of these planets in fire are ramping up the intensity of this restless vibe.  This is a very complicated new moon, but it does have some very positive influences going for it.  The sun, moon and Mars are forming a trine to Chiron in 28 degrees of Pisces and this offers tremendous potential for emotional healing.  Jupiter in Libra is squaring off with Pluto in Capricorn during the new moon, which will undoubtedly trigger issues of fairness in the areas of finances and government. I wouldn’t rule out hearing some angry words expressed towards foreign countries.

But we are still dealing with some powerful water energy.  Chiron and Neptune are retrograde in Pisces, which can generate healing and compassion, but can also thrust us into the victim role if we are not mindful. Don’t let yourself be a victim of anyone else’s strong actions.  The energy is so strong with this new moon that some of us may find ourselves on the receiving end of another’s impulsive actions. We don’t have to fall into victim autopilot mode; step back, breathe and set your own new intentions.
The bottom line is that change is coming, especially with those two eclipses in August.  Don’t fight the need for change and this ride will be a whole lot easier and more enjoyable for all of us. In the meantime, enjoy the passion of all this Leo energy!

Uranus Creates More Upheavals and Mars Moves into Leo

Uranus in Aries has been stirring the astrological pot even after that intense full moon in Capricorn on July 9th.  The moon moved into Aquarius on July 10th, which was a huge relief with its airy detached quality.  But on July it sextiled Uranus in Aries, inspiring me to tweet:
This was an easygoing, pleasant aspect for Uranus.  But the big guns start firing on Uranus on July 17, 2017 when Mars in 27 degrees of Cancer squares Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries.  This aspect is bound to be highly emotional, unpredictable and leave us feeling even more on the edge than many of us already are. It may very well trigger an event that could help us release negative feelings.  Mars squaring Uranus has themes of rebellion against authority and an urge to break free from restrictions.  With both of these planets in cardinal signs, there will be a strong impetus to take some kind of action.  And Mars squaring Uranus has an accident prone quality about it, so please be careful on that day.  Transiting Mars will be conjunct my natal Uranus and Jupiter in the 10th house, which has me feeling a little anxious about this aspect.

On July 20, 2017, the Sun in 28 degrees of Cancer will be squaring Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries.  This is the second Sun/Uranus square aspect of 2017.  The first one occurred on January 10, 2017 with the sun and Uranus in 20 degrees of Capricorn and Aries.  What was shaking back then?  With a Cancer sun squaring Uranus in Aries, nervous tension is a given and there can be angry outbursts.  Uncertainty will prevail.  Intuitively I sense that the best way to deal with this highly erratic energy is to be flexible and as proactive as possible about positive change.

But about 12 hours before the sun squares Uranus on July 20th, Mars moves into Leo for the next six weeks until September 5, 2017.  This should provide a welcome relief from the uber-emotional energy of Mars in Cancer.  Mars in Cancer is inclined to be defensive and passive aggressive and its role in the recent Capricorn full moon (it was squaring Jupiter in Libra) has taken its toll on many relationships.  Mars in Leo will roar in like its symbolic lion, helping us to act more assertively and directly.  Mars in Leo is all about striving to achieve and actively seeks out passion.  When Mars is in Leo energy will be expended on entertainment, theater, fine dining and spending money.  We want to get out and party after the home centered energy of Mars in Cancer.  The only things we need to be mindful of when Mars is in Leo is a slight tendency to act in a self-centered manner and some potential for dangers to children.  Children can be more susceptible to cuts, burns and accidents when Mars is transiting Leo.  So keep a close eye on the kids and enjoy the creative, fun-loving energy of Mars in Leo.  It’s a nice way to complete the summer.

A Full Moon in Capricorn is Complicated with a Cardinal Grand Cross

Hang on folks, we’ve got an intensely powerful and emotional full moon coming up.  On July 9, 2017 at 12:07 a.m. on the east coast of the United States (July 8th on the west coast and other parts of the world).there will be a full moon in 17 degrees of Capricorn.  What makes this one so special?  For starters, it is conjunct Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn and then it is opposed both the sun and Mars in Cancer. Many of us are still feeling the effects of the recent Mars/Pluto opposition on July 2nd, which inspired me to tweet:
When a full moon is conjunct Pluto, feelings are bound to be intensified.  Hidden agendas could be revealed, the emotional tide will be high and defensiveness could prevail.  Mars in Cancer is also inconjunct Saturn in Sagittarius, and this aspect is all about feeling annoyed and uncomfortable.  Adjustments will be necessary on some level and it may be difficult to handle this energy without going into denial mode.

We have seven planets in cardinal signs during this full moon and cardinal signs are renowned for wanting to take action and get things done.  It is contentious and impulsive energy.  The sun and Mars are in Cancer, the moon and Pluto are in Capricorn, Jupiter is in Libra, and Uranus and Eris are in Aries. Eris is a dwarf planet discovered in 2006 that is literally the Greek goddess of Chaos and Discord and sister of the God of War Ares.  Enough said.   If you have any planets or points (like your ascendant, midheaven or nodes) cardinal signs, you will feel this full moon big time.

The Cardinal Grand Cross involves Mars in 18 degrees of Cancer, Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn, Jupiter in 14 degrees of Libra and Eris in 23 degrees of Aries.  Mars and Pluto duking it out invariably involves power struggles and issues of force. Jupiter in Libra is forming a wide square to Mars in Cancer, which amplifies the tendency to blow up and exaggerate matters.  Jupiter in Libra can also denote power struggles around equality, injustice and oppression.  The full moon on July 9th highlights this Grand Cardinal Cross.  The theme of emotional security (Cancer) vs. practical security (Capricorn) permeates this full moon.  That Capricorn full moon conjunct Pluto will shine a light on the powers that be, any lack of integrity on their part and secrets will be revealed.  There will be a lot of negative emotions running rampant, but our task is to not let them affect our reality.  Easier said than done.  Neptune and Chiron are retrograde in Pisces and it is far too easy to feel victimized with all of this energy.  Chiron is in 29 degrees of Pisces now, so it is a critical time for the Piscean themes to emerge.  The best way to use this energy is to step back and observe so that we can heal.

We do have an astrological ace in the hole so to speak on this full moon.  It comes in the form of a Grand Fire Trine involving the north node in Leo, Saturn in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries.  Hopefully this will help us look forwards as we endeavor to do old things in new ways.

Mercury already moved into Leo on July 5th, so at least communications became more direct.  However, for me personally, it felt like my own Mercury retrograde as it conjuncted my retrograde Uranus in Cancer.  My iPod failed to connect to the Internet and a quick trip to the Apple store left me with a brand new iPod because somehow Internet access was not functioning and my Apple Care covered the replacement.  When I got home the problem persisted and I wound up spending over 3 ½ hours trying to resolve it.  At one point my ISP got my devices (cell phone, iPod and iPad connecting, but then my computer lost connection. It would be a gross understatement to say that I went into meltdown mode.  It finally got resolved; maybe that last refresh took after a couple of hours, but it was not pleasant and I was in total freak-out mode.  So I learned that I am not happy when transiting Mercury conjuncts my Uranus.  I have these two planets squaring each other in my natal chart, and this must have really set off the frustration of that aspect.

The full moon in 17 degrees of Capricorn will fall at the end of my 3rd house but will be conjunct my 4th house cusp in 19 degrees of Capricorn, opposing my Cancer midheaven and squaring my Libra ascendant.  So I am steeling myself for the effects of this full moon with all of the cardinal placements in my natal chart.
