Venus and Mercury on the Move as Mercury Goes Direct and Venus Enters Libra

 

What a week this has been!  Hopefully all of you have survived the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19, when I posted:

Venus is still in Virgo until August 29 and it makes a couple of major aspects before it departs.  The first is on August 27 when it trines Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus. Trines are pretty nice and I happen to have this aspect natally, so I can personally attest to that.  When Venus is trining Uranus, we are likely to have the urge to try something new in life, either in romance, creative endeavors or our hobbies.  It's a perfect time for socializing and perhaps meeting someone new if you are unattached.  It can also pave the way for a financial windfall.

On August 28, Venus in Virgo will be opposing Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces. This aspect can create deceptions or illusions in relationships or finances.  Be mindful not to be too gullible or trusting because we are likely to fall victim to predators now who will take advantage of our good nature.  Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true.  A more constructive way to deal with this aspect is to engage in a more spiritual approach to life by engaging in some soul searching, meditating or just plain enjoying the arts.

The best thing about the date of August 28 is that Mercury stations direct in 21 degrees of Leo.  Mercury has been retrograde since August 4, when it reversed course in 4 degrees of Virgo.  I don't know anyone who doesn't agree that this has been one tough Mercury retrograde, especially with the recent Full Moon in Aquarius which Mercury in Leo opposed.  And it's always more complicated when a Mercury retrograde occurs in two signs.  We will start to feel some relief in matters related to communication and transportation.  And hopefully our electronics will start functioning normally again. Just remember that Mercury doesn't clear its retrograde shadow until September 12 when it hits 4 degrees of Virgo.  Mercury moves back into Virgo on September 9 and remains in Virgo until September 26.  But Mercury rules Virgo and is very comfortable there.

Venus moves into its happy place of Libra on August 29, where it stays until September 22.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is definitely in a better state.  Love is in the air as partnerships take on more of a priority in our lives.  It is a time to be fair and make whatever compromises are necessary to keep peace and harmony in our lives.  We also find it easier to cooperate with others.  And we could also find ourselves preoccupied with beauty and style.  So it is definitely a good time ahead.

Venus in Libra will be trining Pluto in Aquarius on the 29th, which can add intensity and passion to our relationships in a good way because it focuses on the joy piece of the equation.  Remember it's a trine, not a square or opposition.  We might feel compelled to splurge on some luxury items but we can also find new ways to increase our cash flow.

We are definitely getting a bit of a respite after an extremely volatile month, so make the most of it, everyone!

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. Mercury Enters Gemini, Jupiter Trines Pluto and a New Moon in Gemini

 

Gemini season is officially here and it's about to get bigger! The Sun, Venus and Jupiter are in Gemini and Mercury is on its way to its home sign on June 3. But before Mercury zips into Gemini, it has a major aspect on May 31 as it conjuncts Uranus in 24 degrees of Taurus.  Mercury conjunct Uranus has a nervous energy vibe which can make focusing a little difficult, but it does stimulate our thinking and adds excitement to the mix.  We tend to be more open-minded and insightful.  Unexpected news is possible and our speech could be on the abrupt side. Be careful driving on this day and don't be surprised if electronics start malfunctioning because they could be in overload mode that will feel like Mercury retrograde. But there is no doubt that May 31 could be a day to remember!

On June 2, Jupiter in Gemini will trine Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius.  This is a really positive aspect that helps to expose truth and has a non-conformist energy.  Both Gemini and Aquarius are air signs that are concerned with the welfare of the people, so it is a very humanitarian vibe.  It can also be beneficial for the economy.  Jupiter trining Pluto can bring empowerment, intellectual curiosity and usher in a period of social change and progress. But it's important to remember that since Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches, we could be inclined to become somewhat compulsive in our expansion activities.  And these actions might involve removing whatever isn't working for us since Pluto likes to do the big purge.   

Mercury in Taurus has one last aspect on June 2.  It forms a supportive sextile to Neptune in 29 degrees of Taurus.  This is another delightful aspect that fosters creativity, communication and spiritual pursuits.  Our intuition will be heightened on this day, so make the most of it and pay attention to your dreams.  Meditation, socializing and enjoying the arts are also favored on this day.

Mercury enters Gemini, one of its home signs that it rules (the other one is Virgo) for a quick trip on June 3.  It leaves Gemini on June 17, so it's only there for two weeks.  Mercury is definitely in its happy place in Gemini, though.  We are going to be more communicative, social and curious while Mercury is flitting through Gemini.  We will probably take immense pleasure in superficial knowledge by wanting to know a little about more subjects than having in-depth focus on one area.  We can be easily distracted and scattered too because nervous energy is rampant while Mercury is in Gemini.  Mercury in Gemini will trine Pluto in Aquarius on June 4, which will enhance our powers of persuasion. If you have been considering therapy, this day is a cosmic green light to get started because Pluto loves to dig deep and Mercury will be very cooperative on this day.  It seems like so many planets are interacting with Pluto when they change signs, but this, like the aspect with Jupiter, is incredibly positive.

On June 6, we have a New Moon in 16 degrees of Gemini.  There will be five planets in Gemini on this day: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter.  The New Moon will actually be conjunct Venus, so relationships and finances can be emphasized.  It's always a good idea to set an intention on a New Moon, but a Gemini Moon has a theme of choices and we might see so many possibilities that it can be hard to decide.  Gemini rules the lungs and hands, so if you are feeling ruffled or scattered, exercise or do something with your hands that helps to focus your mind.  The New Moon in Gemini is also squaring Saturn in 19 degrees of Pisces, and here lies the rub.  The Moon squaring Saturn can bring reality to new ideas, but it can also deliver some obstacles in our path.  We need to be aware that things might not turn out as we had planned.  We need to be flexible, as we will probably be changing our minds a lot.  Patience will be required.  Astrologer Anne Ortelee has often said that with Gemini you sometimes need to do it twice (or more) and I also heard astrologer Rose Marcus say on a podcast that Saturn knows best, a pun on the old Father Knows Best television show.  We are going to be faced with a lot of choices and flexibility is best tool we have at our disposal.  Fortunately Gemini is a mutable air sign, so we have that in our favor.  Don't be surprised if you hear people changing their minds a lot and saying one thing one minute and something completely different the next.  Remember to breathe...

Venus and Pluto Have Their First Hook-up in Capricorn, Mars Moves into Sagittarius and Mercury Enters Capricorn

 

The eclipses of 2021 are over, although some of us might still be reeling from the last Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on December 4.  On that day I tweeted:

Today is the big #solareclipse in Sagittarius which is the last eclipse of 2021. There could be major reveals today with the eclipse conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius. But there is also potential for confusion with its square to Neptune in Pisces. #astrology

But the pace in December is picking up.  On December 11, Venus and Pluto will be conjunct for the first of three times in Capricorn.  And that is because we have an upcoming Venus Retrograde that starts on December 19 in 25 degrees of Capricorn and ends on January 29, 2022 in 11 degrees of Capricorn.  I will cover that more in next week’s post.

Venus and Pluto will be conjunct in 25 degrees of Capricorn on December 11.  What are the themes of Venus conjunct Pluto?  For starters, our need for affection and emotional depth will be intensified.  Issues of power and sexuality will be emphasized.  Venus-Pluto contacts also have to do with obsessions, compulsions and fixations.  This aspect can force us to let go of any unhealthy attachments that we have.  We could very well find ourselves dealing with unfinished relationship karma from our past.  Personal relationships to our values will also come under scrutiny as we determine what matters most to us.  So don’t forget the money piece of this aspect because Venus also pertains to finances.  There could be some losses as well as gains with Venus conjunct Pluto in Capricorn.

This aspect will repeat on December 25 (Merry Christmas) and again on March 3, 2022 in 27 degrees of Capricorn when both Venus and Pluto are direct.  The bottom line is that if you have any planets or points (as in Ascendant, Midheaven, or Nodes of the Moon) between 23-27 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you will definitely feel the effects of this aspect.  Once again, I am caught in the crossfire of this action because I have my natal Chiron in 24 degrees of Capricorn in my 4^th house, my Neptune in 26 degrees of Libra in my 1^st house, and my Uranus in 27 degrees of Cancer in my 10^th house.  And I have a natal square between my Venus in Scorpio and Pluto in Leo, so I understand the obsessive and compulsive energy that these two planets generate all too well.  However, I am trying to approach this with the hope that the sextiles Venus and Pluto in Capricorn form to my Sun and Venus in Scorpio will be of some assistance during this turbulent transit.  I am holding onto the faith that some type of healing can occur. We’ll see how this plays out…

On December 13 Mars, the planet of action and desire, departs the fixed water sign of Scorpio for the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius.  It remains in Sagittarius until January 24, 2022. Mars was very comfortable in Scorpio because it is a co-ruler of Scorpio, along with Pluto.  When Mars is in Sagittarius, we desire more (Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and likes to do things in a big way), so we will not hesitate to act.  Vision and drive are plentiful because our actions are motivated by our ideals.  We do need to be mindful of the shadow side of Mars in Sagittarius, which is going overboard because there is more of a tendency to be impulsive and take risks.  Enough said.

Mercury is also changing signs on December 13.  It leaves the free-wheeling fire sign of Sagittarius and enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn where it stays until January 2, 2022.  This will be a major energy shift in terms of how we think and communicate.  Mercury in Sagittarius was very impulsive, honest and at times blunt. Mercury in Capricorn is very goal-oriented energy.  Our thinking will be more practical, sober and methodical.  Logic, order and organization are prominent as realism rules.  It is a time to live up to our responsibilities but we need to be aware of a tendency to have an authoritarian style.  The shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is rigidity in thinking, pessimism and coming across to others as cold or harsh.  But we are not exactly through with Mercury in Capricorn because there is an upcoming Mercury retrograde that starts in Aquarius on January 14, 2022 but slips back into Capricorn on January 25.  More on that next month…

Scorpio Season Heats Up as Mars Enters Scorpio and a New Moon in Scorpio

 

Scorpio season is here and about to become even more intense.  The Sun entered Scorpio on October 23 inspiring me to tweet:

Prepare for a month of emotional intensity as the Sun enters Scorpio today and we find the courage to deal with our deepest fears, reveal our secrets and transform our lives. #astrology

But on October 30, the energy really ramps ups due to the Sun in Scorpio forming an exact square to Saturn in 7 degrees of Aquarius and Mars entering Scorpio until December 13, 2021. The square aspect occurs at 5:53 a.m., so most of us will be asleep when it is exact.  But the effects could spill into our morning.  Don’t be surprised if you wake up feeling pessimistic, depressed or just plain isolated.  It can also make us feel tired and overcome with responsibilities.  When Saturn connects with the Sun it has a way of draining our energy.  Try to realize that this aspect is a major test of character and that the best way to survive it is to exercise patience and determination, despite the fact that our goals might seem insurmountable.  Do what you can to take care of business, but if you need extra rest, by all means give yourself permission to do so.  Our self-confidence will return when we have made some effort. 

Mars is the planet associated with anger, aggression and passion.  It enters the fixed water sign of Scorpio at 10:21 a.m. on October 30.  Mars is a very happy camper in Scorpio because Mars rules Aries and Scorpio.  Mars was considered to be the sole ruler of Scorpio until Pluto was discovered in 1930.  Mars in Scorpio is very competitive and focused like a laser.  Scorpio also pertains to debts, other people’s money, sexuality, private matters and secrets that you could be ashamed of.  When Mars is in Scorpio it can trigger self-loathing and shame over finances or relationships, but it can also give you the strength to fight for yourself.  Mars is the planet that motivates us and fuels our desires, and when it is in the sign of Scorpio, it’s a perfect time to reclaim our power.  If you have been feeling at all victimized lately, Mars in Scorpio will help you to express your needs and shed that martyr persona.  It’s an energizing jolt of energy that we all need right now.  Mars was not very comfortable in the sign of Libra, and it formed some very challenging aspects, especially with Pluto in Capricorn.  It’s time to bid farewell to that passive-aggressive vibe that Mars in Libra is renowned for.  The shadow side of Mars in Scorpio is that it can be vengeful in its actions if you cross it.  Just be mindful of that fact and this can be a very productive and powerful transit.

On November 4, we have a New Moon in 12 degrees of Scorpio.  The themes that will be prevalent on this New Moon in Scorpio include intensity, passion, vengeance, and an extreme all or nothing vibe.  Angry words are possible on this New Moon because Mercury in late Libra and Mars in 4 degrees of Scorpio are squaring Saturn in 7 degrees of Aquarius.  It will be time to deal with some harsh realities and upsets are bound to happen.   The New Moon is also in direct opposition to Uranus in 12 degrees of Taurus, which can bring shocks, upsets, unexpected events and revelations.  We could also experience technology going haywire again with the opposition to Uranus in Taurus, as well as some weather-related shocks and economic upheavals. The past three New Moons (August, September and October in the signs of Leo, Virgo and Libra) have all aspected Uranus in Taurus, which only serves to underscore the prevailing aspect of 2021: Saturn in Aquarius squaring Uranus in Taurus.  We had the first Saturn-Uranus square on February 17^th in 7 degrees, the second one occurred on June 14 in 13 degrees and the final one happens on December 24, 2021 in 11 degrees.

As a Scorpio, I have a vested interest in this New Moon because if I play my cards right and set some intentions for a brand new lifestyle, I can reap the benefits of some major changes.  Of course, there are other factors affecting me profoundly.  For starters, this New Moon is conjunct my Saturn in Scorpio in my 1^st house of self.  I guess I just can’t escape the effects of the Saturn-Uranus square!  The New Moon in Scorpio is also forming a supportive sextile to my North Node in Capricorn in my 3^rd house, so it’s time for me to move forward on my soul’s path.  But the New Moon is also squaring my natal Mars in Aquarius in my 4^th house, so I suspect that there will be some frustration and possible blockages in terms of moving forward.  I just want to close with urging all of you to set some new intentions on this New Moon because it is powerful and can pack quite a punch in terms of achieving a sense of personal power because Mars in Scorpio is widely conjunct the New Moon.  Don’t discount the power of Mars; it’s definitely going to have a profound impact.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars and Pluto Face Off with a Square and the Sun Enters Scorpio

Scorpio season is about to commence on October 23, but we get a little preview of that Scorpio energy on October 22 when the ruling planets of Scorpio, Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn, form an exact square in 24 degrees of their respective signs. 

What does Mars squaring Pluto feel like?  It is very powerful and aggressive energy that can bring out our anger and desire to gain control over others or situations.  It’s got a very motivational vibe.  Disagreements are bound to crop up, but it does represent an opportunity to release tension and make changes.  It can also manifest as our enemies appearing to be stronger.  The trick to surviving and thriving with this aspect is to NOT try too hard to be in control because that can definitely backfire on us.  We need to be mindful of the fact that change is inevitable but we don’t have to alienate everyone in the process. I know, it’s easier said than done…

On October 23, the Sun enters the fixed water sign of Scorpio.  Whoever coined the phrase “Still waters run deep” must have either been a Scorpio or known one.  I confess that I love this time of year because I am a November Scorpio.  When the Sun is in Scorpio, nothing is superficial or light.  I recently had a personal astrology consultation and my astrologer told me flat out that Scorpios don’t do fluff!  Truer words were never spoken!

The Sun transiting the sign of Scorpio denotes a time to dig up what is buried and bring it to the surface for transformation, which is Scorpio’s credo for living. It’s time to face our fears and demons but we will have the emotional courage and tenacity to do it.  Depth, intimacy and extremes of feeling run rampant while the Sun is in Scorpio. We are headed for a time when we will be feeling provocative, passionate, and strong-willed with a heaping dose of major intensity.  There is definitely a shadow side to Scorpio and it entails jealousy, resentment, vindictiveness and manipulation.  Believe me, you don’t want to get on the bad side of a Scorpio, because those stingers can hurt.  Scorpio is an incredibly loyal friend, but it is also the most dangerous enemy in the world because a Scorpio doesn’t forget or forgive easily.

If this energy sounds too heavy for you to bear, rejoice in the knowledge that the two Greater Benefic Planets (Venus and Jupiter) are joining in a supportive sextile on October 28.  Relief is in sight! Venus in 22 degrees of Sagittarius is forming an exact sextile to Jupiter in 22 degrees of Aquarius; this aspect will ease the tensions that have been building recently and create a party vibe that inspires us to feel happier and share our good feelings with others.  Sagittarius and Aquarius are very social, extroverted signs, so make the most of this feel-good transit.  Don’t be afraid to reach out and get in touch with people.
