A Week of Oppositions, Saturn Moving Direct and Venus Entering Libra

 

We can all heave a collective sigh of relief now that the eclipses are over, but there is still plenty of planetary action happening in November.  On November 3, the Sun in Jupiter is forming an exact opposition with Jupiter in 10 degrees of Taurus.  As oppositions go, this one isn't bad.  It's a pretty nice vibe that can actually generate quite a bit of productivity.  It will make us very optimistic, which could make us overly idealistic.  Just be mindful of that tendency...

Venus in Virgo is opposing Neptune in 25 degrees of Virgo on November 3 and this opposition can be a little more problematic.  Oppositions tend to create a push/pull energy as we need to accept the power of imbalance.  Venus opposing Neptune is bound to be quite emotional and it can manifest in some disappointments as we might be inclined to engage in over idealization, which is part of Neptune's trip.

Mark the day of November 4 as another big day with the planets.  Mercury in Scorpio is opposing Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus.  When Mercury is opposing Uranus, we have a strong desire to break free of past notions and concepts.  It also increases the likelihood of unexpected news.  I know, can we take any more sudden news blasts?  There is also the chance for manipulative energy to be enacted.  If you have any planets around 21 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you will feel this aspect acutely.

On November 4 Saturn will finally move direct in 0 degrees of Pisces after having been retrograde since June 17, when it stationed retrograde in 7 degrees of Pisces.  Saturn represents a reality check; scores will be settled and karma will be accounted for.  But please remember that when a planet is stationing its power is intensified for around five days, before and after the actual station.  Saturn is the planet renowned for making us feel stuck and frustrated.  It is going to feel emotionally heavy at this time.  We could very well feel powerless over the structures in our lives now.  Saturn is also in the sign of Pisces, which is the last sign of the zodiac, and one in which it is not particularly comfortable.  Pisces is also associated with being a victim, so I urge everyone to let go of what hasn't been working for you (that is what Saturn retrograde has been trying to teach us) and surrender.  Surrender is a big theme for the sign of Pisces and we need to acknowledge its importance. I honestly believe that if we can let go, we will find it easier to implement changes and make some progress once Saturn clears its stationary period and picks up full steam. 

We do have a treat in store for us on November 8 when Venus enters Libra.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is definitely in its happy place here.  Venus remains in Libra until December 4.  When Venus is in Libra, we tend to be more social, diplomatic and charming.  Idealism and kindness tend to prevail in relationships. We are also seeking balance in relationships and compromise is easier to achieve. Just be mindful that we are also going to be more attracted to beauty and the arts while Venus is in Libra, and this could lead us to spend more money.  The only other pitfalls with Venus in Libra are indecisiveness and dependency on others.  Be careful not to be too people-pleasing and this should be a very enjoyable transit.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Sun and Venus are Cazimi in Libra Before Entering Scorpio, Saturn Stations Direct and a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

 

Scorpio season is upon us and the eclipses are coming!  Hang on for a bumpy ride but don't forget the paradox of this upcoming set of eclipses: LET GO.  Be open to the massive changes that this eclipse will bring. This is especially true because the first eclipse occurs in the sign of Scorpio and it is a South Node Eclipse, which is all about releasing the past and what no longer serves our best interests.  As a Scorpio, I can tell you first hand that fixed signs (Scorpio, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius) are extremely resistant to change unless they are the ones initiating it.

Before the actual Solar Eclipse happens on October 25, 2022 in 2 degrees of Scorpio, we have a lot of other planetary action taking place.  On October 22, the Sun and Venus are conjunct in 29 degrees of Libra.  It is being called a Cazimi and is a really big deal because these two planets are so close that they are in the heart of the Sun.  It is literally like a kiss.  Venus will not be losing its power in this Cazimi due to the fact that Venus rules Libra.  It will be setting up a new eight-year emotional cycle which has a theme of harmony and partnership.  This is very different from a Cazimi in the sign of Scorpio, which has more of a focus on the self.  I am mentioning this because even though I am a Scorpio, I have a Libra Ascendant and Venus is the ruler of my chart.  And this conjunction just happens to hit my Neptune in Libra.

Save the day of October 23 with all of the planetary action that will be going down.  The day starts off with Saturn stationing direct in 18 degrees of Aquarius.  Saturn has been retrograde since June 4th, so we can expect to see big changes in the structures of our lives.  I am sure that most of us have felt held back and that things are taking longer than they should to happen.  When a planet is stationing, either direct or retrograde, its energy is intensified for about five days before and after the date of the station.  So we can anticipate that the structures in our lives are primed to experience the changes we have been needing.  

On October 23, we are also officially launching the season of Scorpio.  Venus enters Scorpio at 3:52 a.m., where it stays until November 16.  And the Sun enters Scorpio at 6:36 a.m.  Venus is not especially comfortable in Scorpio, like it was in Libra.  Venus in Scorpio is extremely passionate and intense.  It's bound to be emotional, as it is an all or nothing sign.  The Sun in Scorpio represents a time when we focus on getting to the bottom of matters and transforming our lives.  Nothing is superficial now and secrets will be revealed.

The Solar Eclipse in 2 degrees of Scorpio occurs at 6:49 a.m.  This is showtime, folks, and we need to let go and accept the changes that are coming down the pike.  As I mentioned earlier, it is a South Node Eclipse because the South Node of the Moon is in 13 degrees of Scorpio, and this represents our collective past and what needs to be released in terms of toxicity.  Other themes that will arise with a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio are trust, betrayal issues and big money. Don't forget that Scorpio is the sign of other people's money.  Full disclosure and secrets will come to light as a result of this eclipse.  I am a bit apprehensive about this eclipse because the South Node in Scorpio is conjunct my natal Saturn in Scorpio and the eclipse is conjunct my Mercury in Scorpio.

Uranus in 17 degrees of Taurus is also conjunct the North Node in Taurus, so we are probably going to be feeling a push towards a new financial system.  The Moon in Scorpio is inconjunct Jupiter in 0 degrees of Aries, indicating that we will probably need to make some adjustments in our expectations for the future.  The eclipse is also conjunct Venus in 2 degrees of Scorpio, further emphasizing the potential for changes in love and finances.  Mercury in Libra is also inconjunct Neptune in 23 degrees of Pisces on the Solar Eclipse, underscoring the potential for revealing hidden secrets.  And let's not forget the ruler of Scorpio, the planet Pluto, which is now direct.  Pluto is in 26 degrees of Capricorn, and is still within the orb of a square with this eclipse.  This continues the theme of secrets, espionage and big reveals.  

I would also like to bring up that the last time we had a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio was on October 23, 2014.  It was in 0 degrees of Scorpio and many of us could find ourselves revisiting themes or paths that we began back then.  Ukraine had a revolution in 2014 that culminated in the ousting of the pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych.  I don't think that is a coincidence that Ukraine is involved in another war with Russia in 2022.  

The Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on October 25 represents a fresh start but that involves releasing part of the past and a big purge.  I cannot emphasize this enough.  We all want change, but letting go of the security of the past can be downright scary.  We need to be strong, though and move forward. Our desires will be strong and I suspect that money and values will factor heavily in this astrological climate.

Mercury Enters Scorpio, Saturn Stations Direct and a Full Moon in Aries

 

What a difference a week makes.  The sun entered the sign of Libra on September 22^nd, inspiring me to tweet:

The pace is about to get a lot more hectic.  On September 27, 2020, Mercury will enter the sign of Scorpio for a rather extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury Retrograde that officially commences on October 13, 2020.  But if some of you are feeling its effects already that is because Mercury entered its retrograde shadow on September 23^rd.  I know that I am because I downloaded iOS 14 this past weekend on my phone and iPad and have had nothing but problems with it.  Mercury will station retrograde in 11 degrees of Scorpio, slip back into Libra on October 27, 2020, station direct on November 3^rd in 25 degrees of Libra and re-enter Scorpio on November 10^th until December 1, 2020.

What can we expect when Mercury is in Scorpio?  Our thoughts and communications are about to get more probing and intense as we seek truths that may have been deeply hidden.  Conversations could take on a sharper and more analytical vibe.  Scorpio is not a sign for lightweights and doesn’t pander to lightweight chatter.  Don’t be surprised if there is an elevated level of sarcasm in the air. When Mercury is in Scorpio, we are also more likely to make firm, compulsive or obsessive decisions.  But we will also be more resourceful and adept at research.  But it can be obstinate energy because Scorpio is a fixed sign.  I’m just giving your fair warning…

On September 29, 2020, Saturn stations direct in 25 degrees after being retrograde since May 10^th.  This can actually be a good thing because Saturn direct can bring us a renewed sense of strength and resilience to face our challenges and responsibilities.  And let’s face it, 2020 has been all about challenges and responsibilities.  Since Saturn is associated with reaping what you sow and karma, there is a pervasive theme of what goes around comes around.  We were dealing with COVID-19 back in May when President Trump wanted to reopen the United States and we were dealing with a national death toll of 80,000.  I was personally dealing with COVID-19 back in May myself.  Now we are facing a major election and the death toll from COVID-19 has surpassed 200,000 in the United States. It also means that Saturn will finish up its transit of Capricorn, which has been a particularly grueling one for most people.  Saturn will enter Aquarius on December 16, 2020 for the next 2 ½ years.

The months of October and November in 2020 will usher in a very bumpy ride that will feature lots of drama and feel like a purging process due to Pluto in Capricorn.  The action starts on October 1^st with an action packed full moon in 9 degrees of Aries.  This particular full moon can represent a kind of litmus test to reexamine what has transpired since the new moon in Aries on March 24, 2020.  We were in the initial stages of COVID-19 back then and as much as I would like to believe that this full moon represents some closure the data doesn’t back it up.  We are still in the throes of COVID-19.  This full moon is actually conjunct Chiron in 7 degrees of Aries, which reinforces the theme of healing and emphasizes our wound about feeling powerless with this virus and the limitations it has placed on our lives.   But with a full moon in Aries conjunct Chiron in Aries, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more protests because people are experiencing a great deal of social unrest.

The full moon in Aries also forms a semi-sextile aspect to Uranus in 9 degrees of Taurus, which reinforces the rebellion theme.  And Uranus is inconjunct the sun in Libra, which adds to the disruptive and volatile vibe.  And we have been dealing with retrograde Mars in Aries squaring Saturn in Capricorn, which literally makes us feel like we are running into a wall in terms of making any progress.

The cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel the effects of this full moon most acutely.  And this includes anyone with planets in these signs.  Aries will feel more fearless, impetuous, impulsive, and empowered but the shadow side of this full moon could result in them acting too bossy and aggressive as there is a tendency to focus on me versus we.  Librans will feel the effects of this full moon in their relationships; both the best and worst can emerge.  They may wind up ending a phase of their relationship or learn to listen more to their partner.  Cancers could see an end to a job or a change in their public standing.  And Capricorn could see major changes in their family or home life.  Some might move or others might see children either leaving for school or returning to the home due to the economic constraints of COVID-19.

An Action Packed Week with an Ultra-Sensitive Full Moon in Pisces, Mercury and Venus Moving into Libra and Saturn Stationing Direct

We are headed into a very active week astrologically.  It starts on September 14, 2019 on the east coast of the United States with a full moon in 21 degrees of Pisces at 12:33 a.m.  Pisces is probably the most sensitive of all the water signs, but this full moon is even more sensitive due to its conjunction to its ruling planet Neptune in 17 degrees of Pisces.  Emotions will come to a head and we can expect a great deal of feeling, compassion, creativity and psychic sensitivity. Pay attention to your intuition on this full moon with its conjunction to Neptune.  It holds the promise of being a very inspirational and idealistic full moon.

Neptune has been extremely active and disruptive in its own right during the past week.  On September 7, 2019, Mercury in Virgo opposed Neptune in Pisces, inspiring me to tweet:

And on September 10, 2019, the Virgo sun opposed Neptune in Pisces.  On that day I tweeted:

There is a lot of other activity going on with this full moon.  In addition to the sun and moon in Virgo, Mars, Mercury and Venus are all in Virgo for the full moon.  The sun is actually conjunct Mars, which can be pretty volatile energy, but it can be used constructively to be proactive, inspiring us to take the initiative and manifest our desires.  There are strong themes of compassion and service to others with all of this Virgo energy.  We have eight planets in earth signs; in addition to the Virgo planets, we have Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, and Uranus in Taurus, which is a lot of practical energy. Saturn in Capricorn is trining the sun and Mars in Virgo, which is an extremely favorable influence for manifesting long-term goals. Uranus in Taurus is actually unaspected during this full moon, so Uranus is running on a full tank in terms of its disruptive potential though.  We also have Mercury in Virgo conjunct Venus in 29 degrees of Virgo squaring Jupiter in Sagittarius and opposing Neptune in Pisces, so we may have to be careful to speak gently and diplomatically with this configuration.  We don’t want to wind up saying anything we regret later on.  But the fact that all of these Virgo planets, accompanied by the moon and Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius, lends a great deal of mutable energy which helps us to embrace and enjoy the changes that are inevitable. With Mars in 17 degrees of Virgo, we also need to be aware that anyone with planets in 14 to 17 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will probably feel driven to be of compassionate service to others.  I’m sure that I will be feeling this energy acutely with my moon in 14 degrees of Gemini.  Don’t be surprised if some secrets are revealed with the full moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces and with the ongoing Jupiter/Neptune square, set to be exact on September 21^st, these secrets could pertain to legal matters.

Mercury moves into Libra at 3:14 a.m. on September 14, 2019 and it remains in Libra until October 3, 2019.  Mercury in Libra brings a diplomatic, friendly and rational approach to communications. It is a fabulous opportunity for healing rifts in relationships because when Mercury is transiting the sign of Libra we are inclined to engage in people pleasing and we have the ability to consider other points of view and make fair decisions.  The shadow side of Mercury in Libra is that we can have a tendency to vacillate, have difficulty in making decisions and accommodate others too easily.

Venus is right behind Mercury and enters Libra at 9:43 a.m. on September 14, 2019 and stays in Libra until October 8, 2019. Venus is right at home in Libra because it rules both Libra and Taurus.  When Venus is transiting Libra, love is in the air, and we tend to be polite, more cooperative in relationships, charming and idealistic.  We are also more apt to crave the latest fashion styles and luxury items.  But the shadow side of Venus in Libra is the tendency to be superficial, dependent and inconsistent.

On September 18, 2019, Saturn stations direct in 13 degrees of Capricorn. Saturn has been retrograde since April 29, 2019, which may seem like an eternity for many of us.  If you have felt like certain projects have been stalled, Saturn in direct motion will bring some forward movement in these areas.  The pace will really pick up, especially around September 28^th when Saturn is 2 degrees away from the south node of the moon in Capricorn, which will bring up issues of responsibility and working hard.  If you have been responsible and working hard for the past few months, you will start to reap the rewards of your efforts. Material success and recognition may be forthcoming in the next couple of months.  But don’t forget that Saturn is the Great Teacher and the Lord of Karma, so if you have been slacking off, Saturn can bring down some form of retribution for lack of efforts.  Saturn brings you what you deserve and have earned, so be mindful of that and if you need to change course, learn that lesson.

Mars Out of Bounds and Saturn Direct

Mars in 2 degrees of Sagittarius entered a phase called Out of Bounds on August 8, 2016 and I confess that I didn’t see it coming.  A planet is considered to be out of bounds when its orbit is greater than 23 degrees and 27 minutes north or south of the equator.

What does out of bounds imply for a planet?  Basically, it means that the energy of the planet feels stretched and out of control.  It is literally wild card energy.  When Mars is out of bounds, aggression, impulsivity, violence, self-centeredness, anger, extreme force and a tendency to pick unprovoked fights runs rampant. But on the plus side, Mars out of bounds can bestow us with courage, ambition, self-confidence, willpower, stamina and physical vitality.  Mars will be out of bound through October 30, 2016, which is a clear indicator that we can expect more disruptive energy in this very unusual election year. 

I checked my own chart and discovered that I was born under the influence of an out of bounds Mars in Aquarius.  Anyone who knows me well is aware that I am fully capable of great tenacity and the occasional tendency to literally shock people by rebelling against the status quo.  Katherine Hepburn was also born with Mars in Capricorn out of bounds, and she was definitely no slouch in the iconoclast department.

My personal prelude to Mars out of bounds occurred on August 7, 2016 when the Sun in Leo inconjuncted Pluto in Capricorn.  On that day I tweeted:

“Power struggles are possible today with Leo sun inconjunct Pluto in Capricorn. Adjustments and/or compromises may be required.”

This manifested in a big way for me when I received an email on August 7^th from the Celebration of Reiki organization that the legislature in Massachusetts was trying to pass a bill (Senate Bill S2461) which would prohibit Reiki practitioners in the state of Massachusetts from practicing without having a license and passing a course of study of at least 500 classroom hours.   While I applaud the legislature’s efforts to protect women and children from human trafficking in the form of forced prostitution and sexual abuse, I do not believe that Reiki is a form of bodywork that poses any kind of threat to them because clients are fully clothed during a session and there is no inappropriate touching.  I touch the feet during a session to ground the person.  Period. Reiki is a form of energy therapy and while most Reiki practitioners have completed Reiki 1, 2 and 3, there is no nationally accredited program or licensing procedure. If this bill is passed and takes effect on January 1, 2017, I will be out of business and my Reiki clients will be deprived of the healing benefits of Reiki. This bill represents a threat to the livelihood of Reiki practitioners in Massachusetts and it hit home really hard. 

On August 8^th, when Mars entered its out of bound period, I sprang into action. I responded to the Call for Action.  I sent emails and placed phone calls to members of the Senate and House to register my opposition to the inclusion of Reiki in this bill. And I attempted to explain how safe and non-invasive Reiki is. Ironically, Mercury in Virgo was conjunct the north node in Virgo on that day, so I was living out the energy of that aspect by attempting to restore some sense of order through communication.  I even sent a letter by snail mail to the author of the bill at the State House in Boston.  The Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing is only accepting email testimony from interested parties through August 27^th, so there was no time to waste.

I am an astrologer, psychic and Reiki practitioner.  These practices constitute a large percentage of my multiple streams of income as a healer, and I don’t take kindly to any of my sources of income being threatened. My out of bounds Mars kicked into high gear this week as I fought for a cause that I believed in.  The eclipse on September 1, 2016 in 9 degrees of Virgo will be trining my north node in Capricorn, so I am hoping that all Reiki practitioners in Massachusetts will be able to continue practicing in 2017 without interference.

Saturn will station direct in 9 degrees of Sagittarius on August 13, 2016 after having been retrograde since March 25, 2016. This will be a time of reckoning, when we need to be responsible for our actions and understand what Saturn has been trying to teach us for the past few months. Whenever a planet stations, its energy is extremely powerful. Saturn, after all, is known as the Great Teacher.  But Saturn is a strict teacher that demands that you do the work by forcing you to confront your fears and insecurities so that you can muster the courage to move forward.  We need to stop being our iown harshest critic and let go of the self-criticism that no longer serves us. Any blockages that we have faced since March 2016 can be released now.  There may even be some rewards coming our way if we have done the work and we could actually feel lighter and more relaxed.

Saturn has been parked in my second house of finances and values since November 2013 and I am chomping at the bit waiting for it to leave that house in November 2016. OK, I did have a brief reprieve when it was briefly in my third house from February through mid-May 2016, but it will back in my third house for good on November 6^th.  I have some important decisions to make regarding my finances, so my lesson isn’t completely learned yet.  But I am ready to move forward.

Saturn’s potent energy to create new structures will remain strong until we hit a slight  speed bump on August 24, 2016 when Mars in Sagittarius conjuncts it. A Mars Saturn conjunction is accompanied by delays, frustrations and obstacles that can make you feel like you are driving full speed with your foot on the brakes. I have a Mars Saturn square aspect natally, so I am all too familiar with the challenges that these two planets pose when they are not in a flowing alignment. My advice is to get busy now and be prepared for the slowdown that is headed our way on August 24^th. Do the work NOW!

The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am still channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services.
