Mercury in Aquarius and an Inspiring Saturn Neptune Sextile

Now that the dust has settled somewhat from the lunar eclipse on January 21, 2019, we can focus on some astrological energy that is a little more peaceful and inspiring.

On January 24, 2019, Mercury entered the sign of Aquarius, where it will stay until February 10, 2019.  On that day I tweeted:
Mercury transiting through the sign of Aquarius is a whole different ballgame than Mercury in Capricorn.  It’s also joining the sun in Aquarius, which is giving us a nice break from all of the heavy Capricorn energy that we have been experiencing all month.  Okay, we are in it for the long haul with Saturn, Pluto and the south node in Capricorn, but we’ll take our breaks when we can get them.

Mercury in Aquarius is hungry for knowledge and open to new ideas as we are more inclined to think outside of the box.  Spontaneous communication and thought patterns will prevail.  Flashes of inspiration can come from seemingly left field, especially since Aquarius is ruled by Uranus.  We could also find that we have a more detached approach to matters.  Mercury in Aquarius can bring about some downright weird, offbeat and eccentric ideas.  A major difference between Mercury in Capricorn and Mercury in Aquarius to remember is that Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which tends to preserve the structures of the past while Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, which is very future oriented.  So this is a good time for making plans for the future.  On January 29, 2019 the Sun and Mercury will be conjunct in 8 degrees of Aquarius.  This will be a very favorable aspect for communications and we will probably feel a strong need to share our ideas with others.

But the conundrum is that since Aquarius is a fixed air sign we may find ourselves stubbornly clinging to our beliefs and it may be more difficult to persuade others to change their minds during this transit of Mercury in Aquarius.  Keep that in mind.

The month of January ends on a very inspiring note with the first of three sextiles involving Saturn in Capricorn to Neptune in Pisces. We haven’t experienced this aspect since 1996, so it should be interesting.  On January 29, 2019 both Saturn and Neptune will be direct in 14 degrees of their respective signs.  The major theme of a Saturn Neptune sextile is to bring material gain from spiritual pursuits.  This means that it’s possible to make your dreams come true with hard work, diligence and a sensible, idealistic approach.  It’s the perfect combination of understanding your limitations, represented by Saturn while adopting a more optimistic attitude that Neptune represents.

The bottom line is that spiritual wisdom can deliver the patience and self-discipline to sacrifice short-term gratification for long term success.  This aspect will be an opportunity to overcome inner and outer boundaries with kindness, gentleness and spirituality.  My Gemini moon is in 14 degrees and I am still under the influence of an ongoing transit of Neptune squaring my moon, so I’m sure I will feel this aspect.

The Saturn Neptune sextile will also be exact on June 27, 2019 when both planets are in 18 degrees of their respective signs of Capricorn and Pisces.  Saturn will be retrograde on the second hit.  The third and final date of this aspect is November 8, 2019 in 16 degrees.  Saturn will be direct this time but Neptune will be retrograde.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  I am now offering short telephone astrology consultations for 15 minutes or 30 minutes which are available for purchase on the Services Offered page of my site. The Sun Moves into Aquarius and a Total Lunar Eclipse in Leo

The sun will be entering the sign of Aquarius on January 20, 2019, and for many of us, that’s not a moment too soon.  We need a bit of a break from all that Capricorn energy that has contributed to the heaviness many of us have been experiencing so far in 2019.  Okay, Mercury, Saturn, Pluto and the south node are still in Capricorn, but at least the sun is moving out of Capricorn.

When the Sun is transiting the sign of Aquarius, freedom becomes more important to us as we strive to shed the restrictions, inhibitions and limitations that are associated with the sun in Capricorn.  The vibes of Aquarius include innovation, seeking knowledge, originality, new perspectives and finding new ways to do things. It is literally a breath of fresh air, which is apropos for Aquarius, the fixed air sign.  I know that the symbol of Aquarius is the Water Bearer, which is confusing for some people, who think that Aquarius is a water sign.  Nothing could be further from the truth. Air is mental energy and water is emotional energy.

The best way to make use of this Aquarius energy is to spend more time with friends and utilize that fixed energy to focus on making your dreams come true.  Since Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus, this is the perfect time to invest in electrical appliances, computers or cell phones.  It’s also an optimal time to bust out of our routines and let your freak flag fly by being more uninhibited and expressing your uniqueness.

Hopefully all of you have survived the first of the three Jupiter Neptune squares that 2019 features.  The first one occurred on January 13, 2019, inspiring me to tweet:
I was definitely feeling the effects of this aspect as it squared my Gemini moon in the 8th house and later that day I tweeted:
So the energy is getting really weird, n’est pas?  Now we are headed for the next eclipse of January 2019 and it is a doozy.  It’s a total Blood Moon Supermoon Lunar Eclipse in 0 degrees of Leo on January 21, 2019 on the east coast of the United States.  The west coast gets to experience it on January 20, 2019.  It’s called a supermoon eclipse because the moon is closer to the earth and will appear enormous with a blood red color.  It’s also the last in a series of Leo and Aquarius eclipses that began back in February 2017. I encourage all of you to think back to that time in your life because it should have marked a time of creative energy and a celebration of your individuality.  This eclipse in particular should be a time of endings and beginnings.

Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries is a heavy hitter in this eclipse.  It’s really calling the shots because it is squaring the eclipse and this can manifest in mood swings, feelings of restlessness, lack of patience and impulsive behavior.  Uranus is also starting to form a wide square (7 degrees) to Pluto in Capricorn through early March 2019 before it moves into Taurus for the next seven years. Have you forgotten the seven exact squares that occurred between 2012 and 2015?  They were part of a larger Uranus Pluto cycle that began in the 1960’s when Uranus and Pluto were conjunct in Virgo.  Whenever Uranus and Pluto are in a challenging aspect, you can expect social transformation, political unrest and rebellion.  In the 1960’s civil rights and women’s liberation were byproducts of this aspect.   During this lunar eclipse Uranus is also squaring the north node in Cancer and the south node in Capricorn.   And Uranus also squares Mercury in Capricorn, which will undoubtedly result in more anxiety about our future, miscommunication, arguments and erratic behavior.

Mars in Aries is squaring Saturn in Capricorn in 13 degrees of their respective signs on the day of the eclipse.  Mars in Aries is literally the warrior and when it squares off with Saturn in Capricorn, there is bound to be some frustration as we feel like the brakes are being put on.  I have a natal Mars Saturn square, so I know firsthand that it can be downright uncomfortable.  With Mars squaring Saturn in cardinal signs on the day of the eclipse, we will be forced to take responsibility and face our fears head on.  The bright side of this rather challenging aspect is that Saturn in Capricorn can be quite disciplined and if we can find a way to constructively channel this energy it can be quite productive.

It’s important to remember that the cardinal energy is very strong with this lunar eclipse, with Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Pluto and the nodes of the moon in cardinal signs. We can’t help but want to initiate some kind of change with this energy.  Cardinal signs are the movers and the shakers in the astrological landscape.

But there is a silver lining to this rather challenging lunar eclipse. Venus and Jupiter, aka the Greater Benefics, are conjunct on the day of the eclipse.  Venus is in 14 degrees of Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter in 15 degrees of Sagittarius.  This is a very favorable, fortuitous aspect that has a very spiritual dimension and can bring luck, abundance and success as it seeks to elevate our relationships and values.  If you have any planets in the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Virgo around 14 or 15 degrees, you should reap the benefits of this aspect.  Once again, I am in the astrological crossfire, but I am hoping that my Gemini moon in my 8th house gets a boost from this aspect.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  I am now offering short telephone astrology consultations for 15 minutes or 30 minutes which are available for purchase on the Services Offered page of my site. The Window Between Eclipses Features a Sun Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn and a Jupiter Neptune Square

We are now officially in the window between the first round of the 2019 eclipses.  The next eclipse is a lunar eclipse on January 21, 2019 in 0 degrees of Leo. We experienced the first solar eclipse on January 5, 2019 when I tweeted:
This is definitely pretty heavy energy and Capricorn is living up to its reputation as the harsh taskmaster.  It’s certainly not the lightest of times.  I had a good laugh on Monday when I read astrologer Penny Thornton’s comments on her website www.astrolutely.com.  She said:  “I don’t know what each and everyone of you are experiencing as we enter the second week of January, but you’ll be an exception to the rule if you’re having a whale of a time.  With the Sun hooked up to Pluto and Saturn to Mercury this is a tough astro-scape by anyone’s standards.”

Penny Thornton updates her site on Monday and if you don’t already read it, I highly recommend it. Her comments for this week not only gave me a good laugh but helped to put things in perspective for me.  And I didn’t feel quite so overwhelmed with the sense of responsibility and emotional angst that this eclipse triggered.

But getting back to the matters at hand, which is what all of this Capricorn energy is about—taking care of business.  On January 11, 2019, the Sun and Pluto have their annual hookup or conjunction in 20 degrees of Capricorn.  The Sun represents our ego, identity and individuality while Pluto represents transformation through destruction and reconstruction.  Obviously we are going to have some breakthroughs about the deeper truths of our existence.  When the Sun and Pluto are conjunct more can be revealed about what has been hidden in terms of the unconscious sources of our disempowerment.  Hopefully this awareness of our patterns will provide us with the determination we need to purge what is no longer serving our highest good and transform our lives.  So don’t be afraid to delve deeply into your unconscious on January 11th.  And it wouldn’t hurt to look at where 20 degrees of Capricorn falls in your chart.  It’s happening in my 4th house of home, family and beginnings and endings in life.

On the following day, January 12th, Mercury and Saturn are conjunct in 12 degrees of Capricorn.  The fun never ends, does it?  Okay, it has that somber Capricorn vibe, but there is a positive side to this conjunction.  Mercury conjunct Saturn in Capricorn can be a good time to focus on what we need to be doing and accomplishing our goals.  There is a great deal of strength in this aspect that we need to tap into.  It may be the weekend, but try to get rid of any distractions.

Jupiter in Sagittarius is squaring Neptune in Pisces for the first of three exact squares in 2019 on January 13, 2019 in 14 degrees of their respective signs.  Jupiter will amplify the spiritual energy of Neptune.   But we may experience some misplaced optimism and struggle with our expectations and dreams as our faith is tested.  This test of faith could manifest in an embarrassing loss or disappointment. I would also caution everyone to be very careful in love, gambling, drugs and get rich quick schemes as illusions are going to be stripped away.  There could be a tendency to act arrogantly and feel overconfident as if you could get away with anything and not get caught.  But, trust me, you will get caught. This aspect could place a strain on relationships, especially if you have been over idealizing your partner.  And if you have any personal planets like your sun, moon, or ascendant around 14 degrees in the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius, you will feel this aspect big-time.  My moon is in 14 degrees of Gemini, so it looks like I am definitely in the line of fire.

This first of the Jupiter Neptune squares may present us with a problem that challenges our beliefs.  The second of the Jupiter Neptune squares occurs on June 16, 2019 in 18 degrees of Sagittarius and Pisces.  Jupiter will be retrograde then and Neptune will be direct.  But the second square may actually provide us with an alternative solution to the problem.  By the time the third and final square rolls around on September 21, 2019, Jupiter will be direct and Neptune will be retrograde in 17 degrees of their signs.  If the third time is the charm, we will be experiencing a profound change and be able to integrate a new approach to what Jupiter and Neptune mean to us.  Here’s hoping that we get this right.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  I am now offering short telephone astrology consultations for 15 minutes or 30 minutes which are available for purchase on the Services Offered page of my site. Solar Eclipse in Capricorn, Mercury and Venus Change Signs and Uranus Stations Direct

We have only just begun 2019, but it is off to a roaring start and the Capricorn energy is reaching its peak.  The theme of responsibility was really highlighted on January 2, 2019 when the Sun and Saturn were conjunct in 11 degrees of Capricorn.  On that day I tweeted:
On January 4, 2019, Mercury enters the sign of Capricorn, joining the Sun, Saturn and Pluto.  Mercury will remain in Capricorn until January 24, 2019.  When Mercury is in Capricorn, communication takes on a more sober, practical and focused tone.  We are more logical, organized, focused and methodical.  The holidays are definitely over and it is time to get down to business and adopt a no-nonsense approach.  Just be mindful not to get too pessimistic with your communications during this transit. Mars moved into Aries on New Year’s Eve and this provided huge boost of cardinal energy that added to the theme of wanting to get things accomplished.

But on January 5, 2019, we will experience the first eclipse of 2019, a partial solar eclipse in 15 degrees of Capricorn.  Solar eclipses usually indicate new beginnings, but since this is a south node eclipse (the south node of the moon is currently in Capricorn), don’t be surprised if you realize that something from your past needs to be released to initiate that new beginning. The eclipse is widely conjunct the south node in 26 degrees of Capricorn, which can raise issues of self-control, owning your shadow and release of structures that are no longer serving our highest good.  And there could definitely be news regarding abuse of power. One of the most important things to remember about a south node eclipse is that we do not have as much control over what happens as we do during a north node eclipse.  The pull of the past is a key factor during this eclipse and it may trigger some deep anger so be mindful of this and breathe before saying something you might regret. This solar eclipse is also conjunct Saturn in 11 degrees of Capricorn and Pluto in 20 degrees of Capricorn.

The conjunctions to the south node, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn only serve to magnify the intense energy of this eclipse.  It may technically be described as a partial eclipse, but trust me on this one, it will be a heavy hitter in the astrological landscape of 2019.  It will pack quite a punch. All of this Capricorn energy has themes of long-term goals, working hard and perseverance.  Rules, regulations, boundaries, ambitions and material achievements will all factor into this eclipse.  Capricorn is all about structure and hierarchy.  The conjunction to Saturn will be about control and consolidation while the conjunction to Pluto will have the theme of power.  Hopefully the conjunction to Pluto will lead to empowerment and not abuses of power.

This solar eclipse is also feeding into the energy of the Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn which will be exact in 22 degrees of Capricorn in January 2020.  2020 will be a pivotal year of change in the world, and that is not only because of the United States Presidential Election.  With any luck, this solar eclipse can provide some clear insights as to how we proceed into 2020.  It’s also important to examine where this eclipse is occurring in your chart.  For me, it is at the end of my third house, opposing my Cancer midheaven and squaring my Libra ascendant.  I will not be able to hide from it, that’s for sure.

While this may eclipse sound daunting and intimidating, we also have a secret weapon to give us the tools to cope with the changes that are being thrust upon us.  The solar eclipse in 15 degrees of Capricorn forms a supportive sextile to Neptune in 14 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune in Pisces has a strong theme of unconditional love and devotion to a cause so that our ego is dissolved.  The most enlightened use of this aspect is to use this energy to achieve our dreams by working hard and persevering.  That is the Saturn piece of this eclipse, which is indeed quite heavy. Jupiter and Neptune are more spiritually oriented, while Saturn is a more grounding influence.  The major influence of the Jupiter Neptune square is that it okay to have big dreams and hope for miracles if we are willing to do the work.  That is where Saturn and Pluto come in. Pluto will empower and transform us. Jupiter in Sagittarius will be exactly square Neptune in Pisces on January 13, 2019 in 14 degrees of their respective signs.  This can play out as a desire to move into a more perfect reality. This Jupiter Neptune square is a bit more challenging than the Jupiter in Scorpio trine to Neptune in Pisces that we experienced last year.  It can also make us more prone to being judgmental and wanting to engage in escapist behaviors.

On January 6, 2019, Uranus stations direct in 28 degrees of Aries.  Uranus has been retrograde since August 7, 2018 and now that it is direct it is headed back into the sign of Taurus, which it enters on March 6, 2019 for the next seven years.   Uranus concluding its transit in Aries can manifest some very erratic and disruptive energy in the forms of severe weather, protests, riots, political upheavals and power struggles. It is literally full steam ahead now in terms of pursuing goals. Don’t waste this energy.

And on January 7, 2019, Venus enters the sign of Sagittarius where it stays until February 3, 2019. Venus in Sagittarius is a refreshing change from the intensity of Venus in Scorpio.  Venus in Sagittarius has a more adventurous, blunt and buoyant approach to love and finances.  It also likes to seek out the truth and higher meaning in relationships.  Venus in Sagittarius will inspire us to live life to the fullest and see the best in people.  The shadow side of Venus in Sagittarius is that we may be inclined towards excessive spending or gambling.  But it does have a lighter quality that we need to balance out all of this heavy Capricorn (ruled by Saturn, remember) energy, so we’ll take it.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  I am now offering short telephone astrology consultations for 15 minutes or 30 minutes which are available for purchase on the Services Offered page of my site.
