The Year 2020 Ends with an Emotional Full Moon in Cancer

First of all, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas in this most unusual year.

Christmas Day features a beautiful trine from Mercury in Capricorn to Uranus in Taurus, which holds the promise of some good news in the world.  Mercury in Capricorn is a no- nonsense straight shooter and it just recently entered the sign of Capricorn on December 20, 2020.  On that day I tweeted:

It is normal for everyone to engage in some reflection at the end of a year.  But we all know that thanks to the pandemic, this has not been a normal year.  It is a year that everyone just wants to be over.

As an astrologer, I was thinking of how 2020 began.  Ironically, it began with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in 20 degrees of Cancer on January 10, followed by the infamous Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn two days later on January 12.  The year 2020 will end with another Full Moon in 8 degrees of Cancer on December 29.  The Full Moon in January was conjunct my Midheaven and it has certainly affected my career this year.  I no longer practice Reiki in person and I am struggling with my astrology business during this time of economic uncertainty.  The Full Moon in Cancer that occurs on December 29 falls in my 9th house conjunct my south node.  I think the message on this is clear: it’s time to release some karmic baggage and take a leap of faith.

This Full Moon that ends 2020 has strong connections to the Solar Eclipse of June 21 in 0 degrees of Cancer.  I encourage everyone to think back to what you initiated back then in your life to determine if there is any sense of closure or completion now.  Yes, we were all dealing with COVID-19 back then and still are, but now we have vaccines for the virus and this does bring a measure of hope despite the rising number of cases.

Then there are the traditional themes that accompany a Full Moon in Cancer: reflection on home and family, emotional security, heightened emotional intensity because the Moon is in its own sign of Cancer that it rules and for some, a sense of closure in relationships.  We need to be mindful of the fact that letting go and release are paramount with this Full Moon.  There is also a strong theme of healing with this Full Moon because it squares Chiron in 5 degrees of Aries.  In fact, the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer are involved in a T-Square with Chiron in Aries. That is one powerful theme of healing.  Don’t forget that healing can be emotional as well as physical; they go hand in hand.

There has been quite an astrological build-up to this Full Moon.  On December 23, Mars in Aries was squaring Pluto in Capricorn for the 3rd and final time this year.  This was a very tense vibration and I know that many people found it difficult to avoid arguments and conflict.  It didn’t help that the Moon was also in Aries fueling Mars.  But the Moon entered Taurus on December 24 and an emotional sense of calm was restored.

On December 27, the Sun in 6 degrees will be trining Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus.  With this aspect in play setting the stage for the upcoming Full Moon, independence and freedom will be very important to us.  Creativity, intuitive insights and idealism will be high.  We will be craving positive change and excitement.

Uranus in Taurus is also aspected on the Full Moon.  It will be sextiled by the Moon in Cancer, which only amplifies the desire to try something new, which could help us to break some old habits that are no longer serving our best interests.  Our mood could be very changeable and we might be experiencing some chance encounters.

Jupiter and Saturn recently moved into Aquarius and formed their grand conjunction on December 21.  They are also aspected on the Full Moon on December 29; they receive an irritating, uncomfortable inconjunct from the Cancer moon.  I have a natal Moon-Saturn inconjunct, and I can tell you that this aspect manifests in issues of responsibility and at times lack of nurturing in relationships.  With the Moon inconjunct Jupiter, we could be dealing with issues of procrastinating and needing to be more reliable.  The bottom line with these inconjuncts is that we are required to make some adjustments.

I have no doubt that the Full Moon in Cancer that ends 2020 will have as far-reaching an impact as the one that began 2020. But I would like to believe that it can have a more positive outcome.  I am encouraged by the fact that Jupiter and Saturn are now in Aquarius and I sensed a change in the cosmic vibration as a change from the age of capitalism represented by Capricorn to the age of humanitarianism that Aquarius represents.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I recently learned that I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

The Times and the Planets Are Changing with the Age of Aquarius

This has been a week of massive planetary change and the pace continues.  We had the last eclipse of 2020 on December 14, a total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius.  On that day I tweeted:

On the following day, December 15, Venus entered Sagittarius and Chiron stationed direct, inspiring me to tweet:

But two days later, on December 17, the unofficial entrance into the age of Aquarius began when Saturn entered Aquarius and I tweeted:

But on December 19, things get even better when Jupiter enters Aquarius.  Jupiter will be a whole lot more comfortable in Aquarius than it was in Capricorn and will be more adept at looking to the future.  Jupiter will remain in Aquarius until May 13, 2020 and briefly move into Pisces until July 28, but then it will go back into Aquarius until December 28, 2021.

Jupiter in Aquarius is all about rebirth, awakening and unexpected opportunities.  It also brings infectious optimism, a quest for freedom and dramatic breakthroughs.  I know that everyone is thrilled that both Saturn and Jupiter are finally out of Capricorn, which contributed to the pandemic and the struggles many of us have endured in 2020.  The shadow side of Jupiter in Aquarius includes tendencies to be self-righteous, arrogant, eccentric, impulsive to excess, and prone to irresponsible rebellion, but I think if we are mindful of these qualities, we are much better off with Jupiter in Aquarius.

Mercury is changing signs on December 20 and entering Capricorn, where it will stay until January 8, 2021.  This is yet another big planetary change affecting the way we communicate.  Our focus will be more practical, direct, straight-forward and business oriented as we build ideas.  Just be aware of its shadow side to be more rigid and pessimistic and we should be fine.

Hold the date of December 21 as a major turning point.  For starters, it’s the Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year as the Sun enters Capricorn.  When the Sun is in Capricorn, it’s time to take care of business, be more responsible and ambitious. We are focused on working towards long-term goals.

But the major astrological event of December 21 is the much ballyhooed and awaited Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  This is really the start of the Age of Aquarius.  A conjunction in 0 degrees is an even stronger indicative of new beginnings. We only get Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions every 20 years; the last one occurred on May 21, 2000 in Taurus.  Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions always bring periods of massive change. This Jupiter-Saturn conjunction is really special because it is in air sign and we haven’t had one in Aquarius since 1226.  Back then it ushered in the Renaissance.  We will be experiencing the next grouping of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in air signs. The next Jupiter-Saturn conjunction will be in 17 degrees of Libra on October 31, 2040.  If I am still alive then, it will be conjunct my ascendant. Mark my words, this one has a strong theme of new beginnings and we will see major advances in technology with the conjunction occurring in Aquarius.  A conjunction in Aquarius will hopefully utilize technology to bring changes that benefit the collective; we have already seen how Zoom has become more commonplace during the pandemic as a way to keep us connected and informed.

Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions indicate social change but Saturn and Jupiter aren’t exactly the most compatible playmates.  Saturn is the Great Taskmaster and Jupiter is the expansive, generous and at times overly optimistic and jovial favorite uncle.  Saturn is all about restrictions, limitations and responsibility while Jupiter just loves to expand whatever it touches. I frequently think of them as Scrooge and Santa Claus.  But they do have to work together to implement those changes.  And you can bet that with the conjunction occurring in Aquarius, those changes will involve improvements that are motivated by more egalitarian themes.  So, in my mind, this is truly the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, which we started hearing about back in the late 1960’s and is now finally coming to bear fruit.

A Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, Venus Enters Sagittarius and Saturn Moves into Aquarius

Last week may have been fairly quiet astrologically, but this coming week is chock full of comings and goings.  We have the last eclipse of 2020 on December 14 in 23 degrees of Sagittarius. This will be the sixth eclipse of 2020, which is a bit rare because there are usually 4 or 5 eclipses per year but no one can dispute that 2020 has been an unusual year.

The Solar Eclipse on December 14 is a total eclipse because the Moon is completely obscuring the sun and a total eclipse only occurs every 18 months or so.  The last one occurred on August 21, 2017 in 28 degrees of Leo.  This Solar Eclipse actually has a very strong link to the Lunar Eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius of June 5, 2020. Try to remember what you needed to release back in June.  An eclipse in Sagittarius will have strong themes of freedom, the truth, justice and the law.

What does the rest of astrological landscape look like on December 14?  Neptune in 18 degrees of Pisces is squaring the eclipse, so we really won’t know the whole truth until sometime in 2021.  And let’s face it, Neptune is very connected to COVID-19 and I am convinced that it is no accident that news of a vaccine surfaced when Neptune stationed direct on November 28.  But Sagittarius is a very optimistic sign, full of faith and very future oriented, so we have something to be grateful for with this eclipse.  Don’t forget that the Moon is conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius, trining Mars in Aries and Mercury in Sagittarius is trining Mars too.  That’s a lot of positive mental energy that can be put to use setting new intentions and all of that fire is very action oriented.  Since Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids, I urge everyone to set some new intentions.  Anyone with planets in 20-26 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will the effects of this eclipse the most acutely.  The Solar Eclipse falls in my third house and sextiles my Neptune in Libra while trining my Pluto in Leo, so I think it is fair to say that I will not be very quiet on that day.  I plan on setting some intentions and making some connections.

The Moon may be entering Capricorn on the evening of the 14th, but Venus is joining the Sagittarius party with the Sun and Mercury on the 15th.  And Venus in Sagittarius is definitely a party animal. It will be in Sagittarius until January 8, 2021, so make the most of it.  Trust me when I say that you will notice a big difference from Venus in Scorpio and its intensity.  Love will be lighter and more open when Venus is in Sagittarius because it is very social, freedom loving, and joyous.  Truth and honesty are of the utmost importance now.  We will be feeling more optimistic and crave more excitement.  Just be aware that the shadow side of Venus in Sagittarius involves excessive spending highly unusual holiday season.

Chiron is also stationing direct in 4 degrees of Aries on December 15.  Chiron has been retrograde since July 11.  Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer and it’s quite ironic that this year’s retrograde occurred during a pandemic.  Hopefully we can use the wisdom that we have painfully garnered during this period and put it to good use for healing in the coming months.  Yes, we have the promise of vaccines for this deadly virus, but we will still need to continue acting wisely and bravely to protect ourselves and others by social distancing and wearing masks.  It will be awhile before we see the light at the end of this tunnel. Aries is a warrior and we need to tap into that warrior energy and spirit.

Saturn is moving into Aquarius on December 16, 2020 until March 7, 2023.  I am sure that I am not alone in being happy that Saturn will be leaving the sign of Capricorn for another 29 years.  After all, this past year has been a heavy influx of Capricorn energy, starting with the Saturn Pluto conjunction on January 12 and the three Jupiter Pluto conjunctions in April, June and November.  They will all be associated with the Coronavirus; it was introduced to the world in January and cases spiked after each Jupiter-Pluto conjunction.  Jupiter will be leaving Capricorn for Aquarius on December 19, which I will cover more in next week’s blog.   But it is a relief to be having Saturn and Jupiter leaving Capricorn.  Yes, we still have Pluto in Capricorn until 2024, but at least Saturn is departing and Jupiter is not very comfortable in Capricorn, either.

What will it be like with Saturn in Aquarius?  Saturn in Aquarius is all about working towards the future and more humanitarianism.  This is a big change from Saturn in Capricorn, which was more concerned with preserving the past and materialistic structures.  Saturn in Aquarius encourages us to access our inner rebel and think outside the box.  We will be more likely to utilize technology to improve our social life and focus on global concerns like the Coronavirus and climate change. Social justice will be a prominent theme with Saturn in Aquarius.  The last time Saturn was in Aquarius was from February 1991 through January 1994.  This is when the Internet was born and it completely changed our lives.  Of course, anyone born during this period will be undergoing their first Saturn Return with this transit of Saturn in Aquarius.  The generation born between1962-1964 will be experiencing their second Saturn Return.

If you have planets in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio you will feel driven to make profound changes in the next couple of years as a result of Saturn in Aquarius. I confess that the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in 0 degrees of Aquarius on December 21 is getting me a little apprehensive because it exactly squares my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio.  I won’t even get started on how Saturn in Aquarius will impact my natal Saturn, Sun and Venus in Scorpio or my Pluto in Leo.  I have some time to prepare for those transits.

I am still experiencing technical difficulties with the Buy Now buttons on the Services Offered page of my site.  In the meantime, please feel free to send payments through PayPal to my email at lindasim54@gmail.com. Neptune Takes Some Hits in the Week between Eclipses

It’s a relatively quiet week astrologically during this week between eclipses.  But Neptune in Pisces, which recently stationed direct on November 28 after a five month nap, will be on the receiving end of some aspects this week.  On that day I tweeted:

On December 5, Venus in Scorpio will be trining Neptune in Pisces.  At first glance, this looks like a delightful aspect.  Trines are good, right?  This is an aspect that favors romance, relaxation, daydreaming and creativity. How much sweeter can you get?  But Neptune has a shadow side and when it is involved with Venus, it can lead to laziness, idealization of partners and an inability to stick with the efforts required to complete a creative project or see a relationship realistically. This is definitely a nice weekend vibe, but just be mindful that it does have its pitfalls, including a desire for escapism high on the agenda.

The major aspect that Neptune in Pisces makes this week is a square from the Sun in Sagittarius on December 9, but before that occurs, we have Mercury in 7 degrees of Sagittarius inconjunct Uranus in Taurus on the 6th.  This aspect can be stimulating and irritating simultaneously.  We may find ourselves fascinated by many subjects but we need to be flexible because things may not work as planned.  I always say that adjustments are necessary with inconjuncts in order for the two planets to coexist.  It’s very possible that you could learn something that rocks your world with this volatile mix of Mercury and Uranus, but try not to make any major decisions at this time.

But now on to the main astrological event of the week.  The Sun in 18 degrees of Sagittarius is exactly square Neptune in Pisces on the 9th.  I won’t sugarcoat this one, it can be a bit of a buzzkill aspect.  The Sun square Neptune lowers our energy levels and undermines our self-confidence to the point that our insecurities start rearing their ugly heads.  Try not to attempt anything that is stressful or close any business deals if you can help it; the air is ripe with deception and people are more gullible than usual.  The need to escape is heightened and you might even feel more neurotic.  We could also be prone to more psychological and health issues.  This aspect is a veritable field day for hypochondriacs.

It goes without saying that Sun square Neptune creates a smokescreen so that dishonesty and deception flourish.  If you meet someone who seems too good to be true, they probably are.  Don’t believe all of the sweet-talking you hear this day. There is also a predilection towards substance abuse with this aspect that can be dangerous.  I am personally going to try to lay low on this day with the Sun in my 3rd house and Neptune in my 6th house or I could definitely wind up acting like a hypochondriac myself.

I am still experiencing technical difficulties with the Buy Now buttons on the Services Offered page of my site.  In the meantime, please feel free to send payments through PayPal to my email at lindasim54@gmail.com. I have been doing more work with tarot readings, which I love, so I decided to create a new combination reading which offers the option of a 30 minute astrology consultation with a one question tarot reading for only $50. There is something for everyone and my menu of services can accommodate any budget.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice. If you prefer to send a donation through Venmo or pay for a reading through Venmo, my handle is Linda Simons @Linda-Simons-7.

I am also available for tarot readings by telephone.  I use the Celestial Tarot Deck, which I love because it contains so many astrological symbols.  A tarot reading is another great option for obtaining insight and clarity. I offer a 24 card tarot card reading for $50 which incorporates the twelve houses of the horoscope.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
