First of all, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas in
this most unusual year.
Christmas Day features a beautiful trine from Mercury in Capricorn to Uranus in Taurus, which holds the promise of some good news in the world. Mercury in Capricorn is a no- nonsense straight shooter and it just recently entered the sign of Capricorn on December 20, 2020. On that day I tweeted:
Mercury enters Capricorn today as communications get more serious, practical and business-oriented. Being direct is the name of the game now. #astrology
— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) December 20, 2020
It is normal for everyone to engage in some reflection at
the end of a year. But we all know that
thanks to the pandemic, this has not been a normal year. It is a year that everyone just wants to be
over.
As an astrologer, I was thinking of how 2020 began. Ironically, it began with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in 20 degrees of Cancer on January 10, followed by the infamous Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn two days later on January 12. The year 2020 will end with another Full Moon in 8 degrees of Cancer on December 29. The Full Moon in January was conjunct my Midheaven and it has certainly affected my career this year. I no longer practice Reiki in person and I am struggling with my astrology business during this time of economic uncertainty. The Full Moon in Cancer that occurs on December 29 falls in my 9th house conjunct my south node. I think the message on this is clear: it’s time to release some karmic baggage and take a leap of faith.
This Full Moon that ends 2020 has strong connections to the
Solar Eclipse of June 21 in 0 degrees of Cancer. I encourage everyone to think back to what
you initiated back then in your life to determine if there is any sense of
closure or completion now. Yes, we were
all dealing with COVID-19 back then and still are, but now we have vaccines for
the virus and this does bring a measure of hope despite the rising number of
cases.
Then there are the traditional themes that accompany a Full Moon in Cancer: reflection on home and family, emotional security, heightened emotional intensity because the Moon is in its own sign of Cancer that it rules and for some, a sense of closure in relationships. We need to be mindful of the fact that letting go and release are paramount with this Full Moon. There is also a strong theme of healing with this Full Moon because it squares Chiron in 5 degrees of Aries. In fact, the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer are involved in a T-Square with Chiron in Aries. That is one powerful theme of healing. Don’t forget that healing can be emotional as well as physical; they go hand in hand.
There has been quite an astrological build-up to this Full Moon. On December 23, Mars in Aries was squaring Pluto in Capricorn for the 3rd and final time this year. This was a very tense vibration and I know that many people found it difficult to avoid arguments and conflict. It didn’t help that the Moon was also in Aries fueling Mars. But the Moon entered Taurus on December 24 and an emotional sense of calm was restored.
On December 27, the Sun in 6 degrees will be trining Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus. With this aspect in play setting the stage for the upcoming Full Moon, independence and freedom will be very important to us. Creativity, intuitive insights and idealism will be high. We will be craving positive change and excitement.
Uranus in Taurus is also aspected on the Full Moon. It will be sextiled by the Moon in Cancer,
which only amplifies the desire to try something new, which could help us to
break some old habits that are no longer serving our best interests. Our mood could be very changeable and we
might be experiencing some chance encounters.
Jupiter and Saturn recently moved into Aquarius and formed their grand conjunction on December 21. They are also aspected on the Full Moon on December 29; they receive an irritating, uncomfortable inconjunct from the Cancer moon. I have a natal Moon-Saturn inconjunct, and I can tell you that this aspect manifests in issues of responsibility and at times lack of nurturing in relationships. With the Moon inconjunct Jupiter, we could be dealing with issues of procrastinating and needing to be more reliable. The bottom line with these inconjuncts is that we are required to make some adjustments.
I have no doubt that the Full Moon in Cancer that ends 2020 will have as far-reaching an impact as the one that began 2020. But I would like to believe that it can have a more positive outcome. I am encouraged by the fact that Jupiter and Saturn are now in Aquarius and I sensed a change in the cosmic vibration as a change from the age of capitalism represented by Capricorn to the age of humanitarianism that Aquarius represents.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me
to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are
concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my
in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social
distancing. I recently learned that I no longer have my Brookline office, so
all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable
future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will
find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the
perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have
contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your
home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope
to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when
they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a
telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their
blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom
consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have
also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I
don’t always have a photo of my client.
I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where
it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email
at lindasim54@gmail.com or
call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a
sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment. I have also written an article about distance
Reiki, which is available at:

I
urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the
protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social
distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when
going outside your home and staying home if you are sick. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I
speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have
survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
