October Starts off on a Powerfully Transformative Note with Pluto Stationing Direct and Mercury and Venus Moving into Scorpio





Libra season may have just begun, but the month of October promises a strong infusion of Scorpio energy.  On October 3, 2019, Pluto stationed direct in 20 degrees of Capricorn after having been retrograde since April 24, 2019.  It is common knowledge that when a planet is in a stationary position, either getting ready to go retrograde or direct, its influence is especially powerful.   And let’s face it, Pluto is the planet that pertains to transformation and rules Scorpio to boot.  Pluto is also about power, and after having spent five months reflecting on our deepest desires and needs, Pluto stationing direct is a green light from the universe to reclaim our power in whatever area of life Pluto was retrograde and holding us back.  It’s high time for some deep emotional release as we confront the darkest parts of ourselves and others.  On October 3rd, I tweeted:
Mercury also entered Scorpio on October 3, 2019 for an extended stay until December 9, 2019 courtesy of the upcoming Mercury Retrograde which officially starts on Halloween and ends on November 20, 2019. Mercury in Scorpio is one tough cookie.  Communications are bound to be more probing and intense because when Mercury in Scorpio the inner detective has free reign in terms of seeking out hidden truths.  Profound thoughts will emerge and our thinking will be more focused and downright obsessive.  And don’t forget the sharp and stinging language that Mercury in Scorpio is notorious for.  Or as I have often described my own Mercury in Scorpio, it’s like a mouth that should be registered as a lethal weapon.  I reflected on Mercury’s extended stay in Scorpio in my tweet of October 3, 2019:
We have a couple of other events occurring before Venus enters Scorpio on October 8, 2019.  Mars enters Libra on October 4, 2019 where it stays until November 19, 2019. Mars in Libra is much more subdued and assertiveness is weakened.  Mars rules Aries, so it is definitely not in peak form in the sign of Libra.  It is literally considered to be in detriment when Mars is in Libra or Taurus because they are challenging signs for the action oriented planet to be transiting.  Vacillation is a key theme for Mars in Libra because we are able to see many different sides of an issue, which can lead to bouts of indecision.  And then there is the people pleasing side of Libra that hates to offend anyone.  Indirectness is a trademark feature of this transit and the shadow side of Mars in Libra is the tendency towards passive-aggressiveness.  But the good news is that since it takes Mars two years to complete a cycle, we only have to deal with this every two years.

On October 6, 2018, Mercury in Scorpio will be opposing retrograde Uranus in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Our thinking processes will be speeded up and we may experience some temporary tension and anxiety.  There is the potential for some flashes of genius to occur, but I wouldn’t recommend making any major decisions based on them.  Computers and electronics could malfunction as well.  The best way to deal with this energy is to literally go with the flow.

On October 8, 2019, Venus enters Scorpio until November 1, 2019.  Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, so between Mars in Libra and Venus in Scorpio in signs of detriment, relationships will feel like a roller coaster ride.  Venus in Scorpio can bring feelings of jealousy, obsessiveness and power struggles.  I have a natal Venus in Scorpio and I can attest to the fact that it is very emotional, intense and passionate.  When Venus is transiting Scorpio, our fears of being vulnerable or surrendering our power to others are heightened.  The bottom line with Venus in Scorpio is that relationships feel like they are all or nothing.  That is the nature of the beast that is Scorpio, a sign of extremes. With Mercury also in Scorpio and Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, now direct and operating at full throttle in Capricorn, we are all going to be feeling the intensity of this Scorpio energy long before the sun enters Scorpio on October 23, 2019.  Hang on, it could be a very wild ride…

A Super New Moon in Libra Helps Us to Set Some New Intentions to Achieve Balance in Relationships


Libra season is in full force these days and it became official on September 23, 2019 when the sun entered Libra.  On that day I tweeted:
The sun joined Mercury and Venus in Libra.  On September 28, 2019, we will have a Super New Moon in 5 degrees of Libra. It’s called a super new moon because the moon is in very close orbit to the earth and that makes its influence even more potent.  This new moon is centered on many of the traditional Libra themes of justice, rebalancing extremes and obtaining more harmony in relationships. 

But this new moon has some very intriguing aspects involved that supply an added emphasis and oomph to the relationship theme.  For starters, the sun and moon in 5 degrees of Libra are opposing Chiron the wounded healer in 3 degrees of Aries.  This opposition to Chiron can activate a healing process or even a crisis.  It may very well require that we release our fears of not being good enough.  It could provide a powerful opportunity to heal some longstanding wounds in relationships.

The sun and moon in Libra are also forming an inconjunct to Uranus in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Since Uranus is the planet associated with sudden upsets, an undercurrent of rebellion could rise to the surface very suddenly.  We could find ourselves craving freedom big time if we have felt the least bit stifled in our relationships.  And since the inconjunct is the aspect that pretty much demands adjustments in order for the planets involved to co-exist, we may have to make some compromises as we reevaluate our priorities in existing relationships. 

The aspects that this new moon makes to both Chiron and Uranus are compelling us to move forward spiritually.  Chiron in Aries pertains to healing our own wounds around identity and Uranus in Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus, can deliver some new insights into healing old relationship issues.  This will be an action packed new moon because we have six planets in cardinal signs: the sun, moon, Mercury, and Venus in Libra in addition to Saturn and Pluto and Capricorn.  Cardinal signs love to initiate action, which is a big change from the Virgo season of mutable energy, which can at times be so confusing that it is hard to make any discernible progress.

There is also a very karmic feeling to this new moon in Libra courtesy of Saturn in 14 degrees of Capricorn conjunct the south node of the moon.  It can be a time of getting what we have earned for past efforts.  Something from the past could resurface to literally tip the relationship scales or some relationships could end if they have run their course.  Saturn has a way of testing us and removing outworn structures that no longer serve our best interests.  Saturn in Capricorn has been squaring Venus in Libra since September 25th and while this is definitely a testing aspect, it can help us to be more realistic about relationships and perhaps set some much needed boundaries.  I know that I personally will be feeling the karmic nature of this new moon as it falls in my 12th house and squares my north node in Capricorn and south node in Cancer.

Pluto in Capricorn isn’t letting us off the hook with this new moon either.  We will be feeling its influence due to an approaching square from Venus in Libra that is exact on October 1, 2019 in their respective signs.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square, so I am all too familiar with the havoc this aspect can wreak.  Venus square Pluto can trigger feelings of jealousy and possessiveness.  Obsession is its theme song.  Mercury in 22 degrees of Libra is also squaring Pluto in 20 degrees of Capricorn on the new moon, which can generate quite a bit of intensity, manipulation, jealousy and control issues on its own.  So communications could get a little heated on this new moon.

An Action Packed Week with an Ultra-Sensitive Full Moon in Pisces, Mercury and Venus Moving into Libra and Saturn Stationing Direct




We are headed into a very active week astrologically.  It starts on September 14, 2019 on the east coast of the United States with a full moon in 21 degrees of Pisces at 12:33 a.m.  Pisces is probably the most sensitive of all the water signs, but this full moon is even more sensitive due to its conjunction to its ruling planet Neptune in 17 degrees of Pisces.  Emotions will come to a head and we can expect a great deal of feeling, compassion, creativity and psychic sensitivity. Pay attention to your intuition on this full moon with its conjunction to Neptune.  It holds the promise of being a very inspirational and idealistic full moon.

Neptune has been extremely active and disruptive in its own right during the past week.  On September 7, 2019, Mercury in Virgo opposed Neptune in Pisces, inspiring me to tweet:
And on September 10, 2019, the Virgo sun opposed Neptune in Pisces.  On that day I tweeted:

There is a lot of other activity going on with this full moon.  In addition to the sun and moon in Virgo, Mars, Mercury and Venus are all in Virgo for the full moon.  The sun is actually conjunct Mars, which can be pretty volatile energy, but it can be used constructively to be proactive, inspiring us to take the initiative and manifest our desires.  There are strong themes of compassion and service to others with all of this Virgo energy.  We have eight planets in earth signs; in addition to the Virgo planets, we have Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, and Uranus in Taurus, which is a lot of practical energy. Saturn in Capricorn is trining the sun and Mars in Virgo, which is an extremely favorable influence for manifesting long-term goals. Uranus in Taurus is actually unaspected during this full moon, so Uranus is running on a full tank in terms of its disruptive potential though.  We also have Mercury in Virgo conjunct Venus in 29 degrees of Virgo squaring Jupiter in Sagittarius and opposing Neptune in Pisces, so we may have to be careful to speak gently and diplomatically with this configuration.  We don’t want to wind up saying anything we regret later on.  But the fact that all of these Virgo planets, accompanied by the moon and Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Sagittarius, lends a great deal of mutable energy which helps us to embrace and enjoy the changes that are inevitable. With Mars in 17 degrees of Virgo, we also need to be aware that anyone with planets in 14 to 17 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will probably feel driven to be of compassionate service to others.  I’m sure that I will be feeling this energy acutely with my moon in 14 degrees of Gemini.  Don’t be surprised if some secrets are revealed with the full moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces and with the ongoing Jupiter/Neptune square, set to be exact on September 21st, these secrets could pertain to legal matters.

Mercury moves into Libra at 3:14 a.m. on September 14, 2019 and it remains in Libra until October 3, 2019.  Mercury in Libra brings a diplomatic, friendly and rational approach to communications. It is a fabulous opportunity for healing rifts in relationships because when Mercury is transiting the sign of Libra we are inclined to engage in people pleasing and we have the ability to consider other points of view and make fair decisions.  The shadow side of Mercury in Libra is that we can have a tendency to vacillate, have difficulty in making decisions and accommodate others too easily.

Venus is right behind Mercury and enters Libra at 9:43 a.m. on September 14, 2019 and stays in Libra until October 8, 2019. Venus is right at home in Libra because it rules both Libra and Taurus.  When Venus is transiting Libra, love is in the air, and we tend to be polite, more cooperative in relationships, charming and idealistic.  We are also more apt to crave the latest fashion styles and luxury items.  But the shadow side of Venus in Libra is the tendency to be superficial, dependent and inconsistent.

On September 18, 2019, Saturn stations direct in 13 degrees of Capricorn. Saturn has been retrograde since April 29, 2019, which may seem like an eternity for many of us.  If you have felt like certain projects have been stalled, Saturn in direct motion will bring some forward movement in these areas.  The pace will really pick up, especially around September 28th when Saturn is 2 degrees away from the south node of the moon in Capricorn, which will bring up issues of responsibility and working hard.  If you have been responsible and working hard for the past few months, you will start to reap the rewards of your efforts. Material success and recognition may be forthcoming in the next couple of months.  But don’t forget that Saturn is the Great Teacher and the Lord of Karma, so if you have been slacking off, Saturn can bring down some form of retribution for lack of efforts.  Saturn brings you what you deserve and have earned, so be mindful of that and if you need to change course, learn that lesson.

The Virgo Posse Expands as the Sun and Mercury Enter Virgo, Mars and Venus Hook Up in Virgo and both Mars and Venus Trine Uranus in Taurus




Mars and Venus have already entered the sign of Virgo, on August 18 and 21, 2019, respectively. Those were big days astrologically and my tweets on those days reflected it.


But we are on the brink of a lot more Virgo energy coming down the pike.  The Sun enters Virgo on August 23, 2019.  When the sun is in the mutable earth sign of Virgo, we tend to practical concerns as we get organized and become more detail oriented.  It’s also a fabulous opportunity to focus on our health, jobs and daily routines.  I have always found it fascinating that the sun in Virgo corresponds with the whole back to school time of year.  It’s a period of buckling down after the Leo infused fun filled days of summer.  We are still in the throes of summer, but the season is winding down and our minds are turning to more practical matters.

On the following day, August 24, 2019 Mars and Venus will be conjunct in 3 degrees of Virgo. This aspect will increase the desire for intimate relations as the urge to merge spikes.  Creativity will also soar with this aspect.  It’s great party energy, so if you feel inclined to host a party, feel free to do so. This is a very social aspect and it would be a shame to waste it.

Venus and Mars in Virgo are also making some beneficial trines to Uranus in Taurus.  On August 26, 2019 Venus in 6 degrees of Virgo trines Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus.  This is one of my personal favorite aspects because I have it natally with my Venus in Scorpio trining Uranus in Cancer.  And both are retrograde to boot!   Venus trining Uranus inspires us to experiment with old and new relationships.  We crave excitement. And with Venus in Virgo, we just might want to try something new in an existing relationship to fix any kinks.  I’m not saying that we should throw out old relationships, but be open to the possibility of change.  Venus trining Uranus is also a favorable influence for socializing, shopping, creativity and gambling if you’re so inclined.  If you were wondering when it might pay off to buy a lottery ticket, this aspect tends to give you an edge…

On August 28, 2019, Mars in 6 degrees of Virgo trines Uranus in 6 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect packs quite a punch in terms of wanting to break free of restrictions and boring routines.  It’s got a strong theme of flying that freak flag that may have been under wraps for a while.  Mars trining Uranus also triggers the need to engage in some risk taking, which we may have to monitor.  But with Mars in Virgo we may have a built in protector; Mars doesn’t act as quickly and impetuously as it does in Leo.  But Uranus in Taurus can be stubborn, so watch that tendency.

Mercury enters Virgo on August 29, 2019 to complete the Virgo posse.  Mercury remains in Virgo until September 14, 2019 and it is a very happy camper in Virgo because it is one of the two signs Mercury rules; Gemini is the other sign. But Mercury is exalted in Virgo and it doesn’t get any better than that.  When Mercury is in Virgo, we can be incredibly productive as we find it easier to get straight to the point.  Communications become more practical with precise thought and speech and we can analyze situations more easily.  This is a perfect comeback to this summer’s Mercury retrograde.  Mercury cleared its retrograde shadow on August 15th and with Mercury direct and speeding through Virgo, the recent Mercury retrograde will be a distant memory.  It’s full steam ahead with communications.

And the month of August ends with more Virgo energy as we experience a new moon in Virgo on August 30th.  I will address that in next week’s post.

Gemini Season is in Full Force as Mercury in Gemini Sets off a Mutable T-Square


Well, we are definitely in the thick of Gemini season now that both the Sun and Mercury entered the mutable air sign on May 21, 2019 and were conjunct.  On that day I tweeted:
When the sun is transiting the sign of Gemini, it is high time to be open to change and connect on an intellectual level.  Does the phrase think outside the box ring any bells? We will be very open to socializing during this time. As for Mercury transiting Gemini, well, Gemini is one of the two signs it rules (Virgo is the other), so it is right at home and very strong.  Mercury in Gemini increases the amount of information that is disseminated.  Messages tend to be sharp and quick-witted, but because Gemini represents duality and is literally the sign of the twins, be mindful that a double message could be sent.  If you have any doubts, be sure to ask questions, because there is a good chance that all is not as it appears.  Communications will be edgy, witty, bright and light.  Due to the mutable nature of Gemini, we can find ourselves easily distracted, more adept at multi-tasking, and more able to go with the flow and be more flexible mentally.

Mercury in Gemini is forming a couple of challenging aspects next week that will require some major reality checks.  On May 29, 2019, Mercury in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces, which can distort our thinking and make us more prone to substance abuse as a way of escapism.  On the following day, May 30, 2019, Mercury in Gemini opposes Jupiter in Sagittarius.  This can add to the confusion in communications because Jupiter ignores the bad and exaggerates the good. And Jupiter and Neptune have been involved in an ongoing square since January 2019 that will last until the third and final exact square on September 21, 2019.  The first one occurred on January 13th and the second will occur on June 16, 2019.  The theme of the Jupiter Neptune square is to test our faith due to disappointments.  It cautions us not to be overly optimistic.  So Mercury in Gemini is activating a mutable T-square because it squares Neptune in Pisces and opposes Jupiter in Sagittarius.  Jupiter has a tendency to gloss over the details and take on more than it can handle.  One of the best ways to describe this planetary action is biting off more than you can chew.  And then of course Neptune is all about denial, escapism and fantasizing about the good things. With all of this mutable energy at seeming cross purposes, we are challenged to find a balance between being too provocative and too boring.  Mercury in Gemini will be conjunct my Gemini moon in the 8th house but will actually be in my 9th house when all of this action is going down, so it should be illuminating or confusing.  I’ll see how it plays out…

But on May 27, 2019 the United States is celebrating the holiday of Memorial Day, which is the unofficial start of summer.  The moon is actually in the compassionate, sensitive water sign of Pisces on that day, which is a fitting placement for Memorial Day remembrances.  That Pisces moon conjuncts Neptune, which is very inspirational and it sextiles Venus in Taurus, which is perfect energy for socializing. It also squares Jupiter in Sagittarius, so the party theme and tendency for too much of a good thing is also present. But it is a holiday.  Happy Memorial Day, everyone!
