A Solar Eclipse in Aries and Neptune Enters Aries

 

Well, the month of March is FINALLY coming to a close, but it is ending with just as much volatility as it began.  On March 1 Venus turned retrograde in 10 degrees of Aries. Then we had a Lunar Eclipse in 23 degrees of Virgo on March 14 and Mercury went retrograde in 9 degrees of Aries on March 15.  We have the second eclipse of the season, a Solar Eclipse in 9 degrees of Aries on March 29.  This is the last Solar Eclipse in Aries until 2032.  We did have a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries on April 8, 2024.  Retrograde Mercury will re-enter Pisces on the Solar Eclipse, conjuncting Neptune in Pisces.  We also had Mercury and Neptune conjunct in Pisces on March 2, 2025.  What happens when Mercury and Neptune are conjunct?  Intuition can be heightened, but there can also be deception and nebulous communication.  I have a natal Mercury-Neptune conjunction in late Libra and 0 degrees of Scorpio, so I know first-hand how tricky this aspect can be. It definitely has a spiritual side, but there is a certain amount of secrecy associated with it. We will have a third conjunction between Mercury and Neptune in 0 degrees of Aries on April 17, so stay tuned...

What is the astrological theme of this Solar Eclipse in Aries?  Big changes are coming, no doubt about it.  There is also the connection between Venus and Mercury that stationed retrograde in Aries on and around the degree of the eclipse.  That is quite literally a major theme of this year, with all of this back-and-forth action with the planets in Pisces and Aries.  Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and Aries is the first, so we are dealing with letting go and endings while preparing for new beginnings.  Mercury and Venus will return to Aries once they are direct, Neptune moves into Aries on March 30 until October 22 before it takes one last pass in Pisces.  Then it moves into Aries on January 26, 2026 for 14 years.  And we have Saturn entering Aries on May 24 through September 1, 2025.  Then Saturn moves back into Aries on February 14, 2026 until April 13, 2028.

What else is happening on this Solar Eclipse?  The only major aspect that Aries Moon makes is a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 15 degrees of Gemini. The eclipse is actually sextiling my Moon in Gemini in my 8th house.  I prefer to think of it as a saving grace aspect because it can bring optimism, idealism, good luck and generosity.  The Solar Eclipse in 9 degrees of Aries falls in my 6th house, but it squares my South Node in Cancer in my 9th house and my North Node in Capricorn in my 3rd house.  I feel like I am at a crossroads between the past and my future, and I would surmise that this is an accurate description of how many people are feeling.  Anyone who has planets or points (Nodes, Ascendant, Descendant or IC) around 9 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will be feeling the effects of the Solar Eclipse intensely. This eclipse could involve events that trigger a wake-up call that inspires us to act with courage to initiate a fresh start in our lives.

Neptune moves into Aries on March 30 until October 22.  Neptune doesn't get very far in Aries before it stations retrograde in 2 degrees of Aries on July 4, 2025.  But it will be back in Aries on January 26, 2026 until 2039.  Neptune in Aries can inspire us to make our dreams a reality  by becoming the hero of our own journey. We might find ourselves becoming more assertive and taking pride in our individuality.  Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, which is also associated with war.  It is not lost on the astrological community that the last time Neptune was in Aries (1861-1875) the United States had the Civil War and Reconstruction.  

I don't think that anyone can deny the potential for protest and resistance in the world these days. But we can use Neptune in Aries constructively reclaim our autonomy.  Neptune in Aries can feel very disorienting as we enter an age of localism, sovereignty and decentralized power.  We need to be mindful of the potential for idealizing a leader or war itself while Neptune is in Aries.  Neptune is the great dissolver, but it also involves loss and release before we can reinvent ourselves.  Perhaps that is why we are getting a taste of Neptune in Aries this year to acclimate ourselves to its energy before it stakes its claim in Aries for the period of late January 2026 through March 2039.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. Aries Season Ramps Up as Venus Enters Aries and a Total Solar Eclipse in Aries

 

We are deep in the heart of Aries season, and if you aren't already feeling it with the Sun and Mercury retrograde in Aries, fasten your seatbelt because on April 5, Venus will leave the dreamy and placid water sign of Pisces to move into Aries until April 29.  When Venus is in Aries, love is more spontaneous, direct, and bold.  We are drawn to the thrill of the chase as passion and ardor take center stage.  And we can become impatient much more easily.

Venus in Aries will sextile Pluto in Aquarius on April 6.  Isn't it funny how all of these planets are meeting up with Pluto in Aquarius these days?  Venus sextiling Pluto is a quite a bit easier to take than a square, opposition or inconjunct, but it will still definitely deepen and intensity love.  Obsession is possible too, because that is the way these two planets act when they get together.  Existing relationships can take on a more profound level and our spirituality can be heightened.

The next big hit of Aries energy occurs on April 8 with the Total Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries.  This is really a major astrological event; we haven't had a total solar eclipse since August 21, 2017 in 29 degrees of Leo.  If you are old enough to remember, think back to April 8, 2005 because we had a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries on that day.  Some of the same issues could be triggered for you.

Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids and their effects can be felt for up to three months before and up to one year after they occur.  A Solar Eclipse in Aries has strong themes of new beginnings, claiming our inner authority, embarking on new adventures and finding the courage to take risks while being in the moment. Chiron is in 19 degrees of Aries on the Solar Eclipse, so it is exactly conjunct the Sun and Moon, which makes it a major player.  We could develop a major awareness of our wounds and victim consciousness, especially with retrograde Mercury in 25 degrees of Aries so close to the eclipse.  Mercury retrograde does have a way of making us review old stuff.  I don't particularly enjoy mentioning this, but Chiron in Aries also has a way of bringing gun violence: both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were killed when Chiron was in Aries in 1968.  Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, which does have a lot to do with aggression.  This is just a cautionary note that with Mercury and Chiron in the mix for the eclipse, we could hear some news about violence.  I certainly hope that it doesn't happen, but we might need to be prepared for anything.

Obviously this eclipse will impact everyone, but who will feel it the most?  If you have any cardinal planets or points (Ascendant, Midheaven, Imum Coeli, and Nodes of the Moon) in 16-22 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you are going to feel this one big time.  Once again, I am right in the line of astrological fire.  My Ascendant is in 16 degrees of Libra, my Imum Coeli (cusp of the 4th house) is in 19 degrees of Capricorn and my Midheaven is in 19 degrees of Cancer.  Astrologer Jessica Adams has even said that if you have anything in your chart at 19 degrees, your chart will be activated by this eclipse.  And in addition to my cardinal placements, my Sun is in 19 degrees of Scorpio.  What is the best way to cope with all of this astrological intensity generated during the eclipse?  I tend to agree with Jessica that if you have do have planets or points activated on the Solar Eclipse, try not to make any major decisions on that day until more is revealed.  And let's face it, eclipses have a way of delivering big reveals.  The day of April 8 should be a newsworthy day, to say the least.

On April 10, Mars and Saturn are conjunct in 14 degrees of Pisces.  Normally we don't associate good times when Mars and Saturn are aligning and some might even interpret a conjunction in Pisces as indicators of military action at sea.  But we can always take the high road and utilize this configuration to apply it to a disciplined spiritual practice.  I would definitely like to sign up for that interpretation.

The Sun and Mercury will be conjunct on April 11 in 22 degrees of Aries.  Despite Mercury being retrograde, this aspect should generate lots of communication, mental alertness, curiosity and adaptability. Big ideas could be flowing on this day.

In the meantime, hang in there with this Mercury retrograde until April 25 (it's been quite crazy so far) and ride the wave of intensity that the month of April is delivering.

Eclipse Season is Here with a Powerful Solar Eclipse in Aries that Squares Pluto and the Sun Enters Taurus

Eclipse Season is officially here, with the first eclipse of 2023 coming on April 20, 2023 in the form of a Solar Eclipse in 29 degrees of Aries.  That's right, folks, the second New Moon in Aries of 2023.  Since eclipses run in pairs, the next one happens on May 5, 2023 with a Lunar Eclipse in 14 degrees of Scorpio.

But I am sure that many of you have been feeling the effects of this upcoming eclipse already. It is a well-known fact that Solar Eclipses can be felt up to three months before and as long as one year afterwards.  I just don't want anyone out there to think that if nothing significant happens to you on April 20 that you are in the clear in terms of avoiding massive change in your life.  Eclipses are game-changers and they have a wide berth with their time frame.

On April 14, we are getting a major reality check when Venus in Gemini exactly squares Saturn in 4 degrees of Pisces.  Venus and Saturn in a challenging aspect can be a bit of a downer when it comes to love and finances.  It can also make us feel pessimistic and depressed.  I am just warning you that it does not exactly start off the weekend on a high note and could prompt us to make some serious decisions.  The best way to cope with this energy is try to see the long-term effects of any decisions that you do make.  The bright side is that at least these two planets are in mutable signs so that we are more likely to be able to roll with the punches and adapt more easily if course corrections wind up being necessary.

So let's get down to the details of the Solar Eclipse.  It is in 29 degrees of Aries, which is a cardinal sign and cardinal signs love to initiate.  We have a lot of cardinal energy in this eclipse chart: in addition to the Sun and Moon in Aries, we have Chiron in Aries and Mars in Cancer. This is also a North Node Solar Eclipse, meaning that it is near the North Node in 4 degrees of Taurus.  North Node eclipses are very future-oriented, but in order for the future to manifest, we have to be prepared for endings to occur.  It is a crucial fact that this eclipse falls in 29 degrees of Aries, because 29 degrees is considered the anaretic degree and this tends to represent an end of a cycle.  The ruler of Aries is Mars and Mars in Cancer is still out of bound until May 4, 2023.  This simply means that this eclipse can bring volatile upheavals and lots of aggression, anger and dynamic energy will prevail.  It is definitely an out-of-control vibe. We are talking wild card energy that can come off as being very Uranian.  As a matter of fact, Mercury in 15 degrees of Taurus is conjunct Uranus in 17 degrees of Taurus on the day of the eclipse, so there could be some shocking news involving the financial market.  The saving grace feature of this eclipse is the fact that Aries is a very self-sufficient sign that values individuality, so we should have the courage to implement whatever changes we need to improve our life.

The Solar Eclipse in 29 degrees of Aries also squares Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  This will ramp up the level of emotional intensity and the amount of impulsivity.  A Solar Eclipse squaring Pluto denotes endings and beginnings as the old world collapses.  It can increase our need to be in control and ego conflicts with authority figures can erupt.  The most constructive way to deal with this energy is to breathe, let go of what isn't working for you and let the rebirth happen.  I don't think that anyone out there can honestly say that everything in their life is immune to the winds of change.

We also need to be mindful of the fact that Mars in 13 degrees of Cancer is squaring Chiron in 16 degrees of Aries on April 20.  It can make us angry about health issues, but more importantly, if you are having any troubling symptoms, I urge you as a healer and astrologer to get them checked out now.  I know that Mars is still out of bound, but it should still serve to motivate us to take better care of our health when it is squaring Chiron in Aries. It doesn't matter if the issues are physical, mental or emotional, they need to be tended to.

The Moon moves into Taurus at 12:30 a.m. on April 20, a mere 17 minutes after the Solar Eclipse.  Then the Sun enters Taurus at 4:14 a.m. and squares Pluto in Aquarius at 12:27 p.m.  The Sun squaring Pluto will increase our need to be in charge and could also trigger deeply buried psychological issues involving fears of death or loss of control.  Pluto is the planet that I like to refer to as the Roto-Rooter because it brings up the things we need to purge. Rebirth ain't always pretty or comfortable.  I have a natal Sun-Pluto square involving my Sun in Scorpio and Pluto in Leo, so I am all too familiar with this energy.

When the Sun is in Taurus, the pace is a little slower because it is fixed earth.  This can be experienced as somewhat of a relief after the whirlwind transit of the Sun in Aries. We will be more focused on security needs and we will also be more practical, determined and sensual.  Taurus is ruled by Venus and it does enjoy its creature comforts.  The shadow side of the Sun in Taurus is that it can be possessive and bullheaded.

My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
