A Complicated New Moon in Virgo

September is here and we are definitely feeling the energy of Virgo.  The Sun and Mars are in Virgo and we have a New Moon in 14 degrees of Virgo on September 6.  There has been a great deal of planetary energy setting up this New Moon.  On September 2, Mars in Virgo was exactly opposing Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces, inspiring me to tweet:

The Moon has also been extremely active since September started, setting the stage for a complicated and intense New Moon in Virgo.  On September 1 the Moon was in its home sign of Cancer, but it gave a helping hand to the Sun in Virgo with its sextile aspect:

This is going to be an extremely emotional New Moon and one more major aspect occurs on the 5^th which will really set it off.  Venus in Libra will exactly square Pluto in 24 degrees of Capricorn.  I have a Venus-Pluto square natally, and I can tell you that it will ignite extremes of anger, obsession, compulsiveness and self-destructive behavior.  It could also reveal some issues that have been buried for quite some time.  But New Moons are renowned for revealing and illuminating.  This New Moon is also exactly squaring my natal Moon in 14 degrees of Gemini in my 8^th house, so I am feeling this one intently.  And that Mars-Neptune opposition has been manifesting in crises for many people, as evidenced by what my clients are telling me.

Generally speaking, the New Moon is a perfect time to set new intentions.  A New Moon in Virgo is all about practical manifestation and is very detailed in its specifications for what it wants.  It can literally be a time of creating order from chaos.  Decluttering is also a major theme of this New Moon in Virgo. Since Virgo is ruled by Mercury, it can involve disseminating information.  And a New Moon in Virgo is a perfect time to reboot our health routines and get in better shape.  Perhaps we want to adopt a new diet and exercise plan?

Mars in Virgo is trining Pluto in Capricorn on this New Moon, so we will definitely have the energy to move forward and transform our lives.  Uranus in Taurus is also trining the Moon, so there can be sudden opportunities and new technology presenting themselves to us as we seek to accomplish our desire for change.  This is a Grand Earth Trine, which we shouldn’t waste to get moving.  And we also have a Grand Air Trine with Mercury in Libra, Saturn in Aquarius and Ceres in Gemini on the New Moon, so information should be flowing freely that could very well involve issues pertaining to our food supply.  This New Moon is also forming a wide opposition to Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces, which will hopefully manifest in more compassion and selfless service to others.

Venus in Libra is exactly trining Jupiter in 25 degrees of Aquarius on the New Moon, which will relieve some of the stress that the Venus squaring Pluto purge caused on the previous day.  This is a very optimistic vibe that can bring good luck and a new vision for the future.  I also have a natal Venus-Jupiter trine and believe me, it is very helpful to have, especially in challenging times.  So I hope that all of you out there set some powerful new intentions on this New Moon in Virgo.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. At some point, probably in 2022, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. This new Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!  

A Super New Moon in Virgo Rocks New Beginnings with a Grand Trine in Earth

Hang on everyone, because we are now experiencing the closest super new moon of the year.  The moon is closer to the earth than it will be all year and it increases its potency and power for new beginnings.  It happens on August 23, 2019 at 6: 37 a.m. on the east coast of the United States in 6 degrees of Virgo. Whatever house it falls in your chart is where you should be setting intentions and planting seeds to reap the manifestations in about six months.  For me personally, it falls in my 11^th house of friendships, group associations and goals.  That is a very fertile sweet spot in my chart to be focusing my energy.

A new moon in Virgo has strong themes of grounding, healing, helping and fixing.  Virgo is also inclined to cleaning and sorting out.  It is perfect energy for streamlining our lives, and that includes exercising, diet and acting with precision.  This new moon in Virgo is also accompanying the Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury in Virgo, which further emphasizes the themes of detail planning and editing. Virgo loves to narrow the mind down to specifics and with Mercury just entered Virgo on August 29^th, our mental powers of clarity are that much stronger.  The shadow side of all that Virgo energy is a tendency to get caught up in perfectionism and be hyper critical, so be mindful of that.

There is an incredibly positive Grand Earth Trine in play on August 30, 2019 that involves the sun and moon in 6 degrees of Virgo trining retrograde Uranus in 6 degrees of Virgo and widely trining retrograde Saturn in 14 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a lot of practical energy and Saturn’s presence helps us build for the future.  For once, we can honestly say that Saturn is a good guy.  And with the sun and moon trining Uranus in Taurus, we can expect positive change, an abundance of energy and exciting opportunities to emerge.  We might feel more self-confidence and freedom to express the more eccentric side of our personality.  Uranus in Taurus has been a key player recently in terms of spurring our desire for change.  On August 28, 2019, Mars in Virgo was exactly trine Uranus in Taurus and I tweeted:

This new moon in Virgo represents a fabulous opportunity to stretch out of our comfort zone and follow our intuition. We also have the new moon in 6 degrees of Virgo conjunct Mars in 7 degrees of Virgo which reinforces the theme of an abundance of energy and initiative.  Venus and Mercury in Virgo will bring love, patience and the ability to think before we act.  There is no doubt that Uranus in Taurus is a key player in this new moon and with all of these Virgo planets trining Uranus, our creativity is enhanced and information will flow.  And with Mercury direct in one of its home signs, technology should be very helpful to us.

Virgo is a mutable sign that adapts very well to change and we have two other planets in mutable signs that are contributing to the theme of change.  We are still experiencing the ongoing Jupiter in Sagittarius square to Neptune in Pisces which will be exact again on September 21, 2019 in 17 degrees of their respective signs. These two planets are helping us to have faith that we can implement the changes in our lives that we desire. So I urge everyone to meditate, get clear on your intentions and do whatever rituals you feel comfortable with to initiate some major changes in your lives.  Don’t waste this powerful and positive new moon energy.

Happy Labor Day!

A Day to Remember with a New Moon in Virgo and Venus Enters Scorpio

Save the date of September 9, 2018 because we have two major astrological events occurring on that day.  At 5:25 a.m. Venus enters Scorpio for an extended stay because it will be stationing retrograde on October 5, 2018 in 10 degrees of Scorpio, sliding back into Libra on October 31, 2018 for a Halloween treat and re-entering Scorpio on December 2, 2018, where it remain until January 17, 2019.  And at 2:01 p.m. on September 9, 2018, we have a new moon in 17 degrees of Virgo.

The new moon in Virgo features a very emphasis on earth energy.  In addition to the sun and moon in Virgo, we have Mars and Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Taurus and Mercury in Virgo.  Mercury entered Virgo on September 5, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:

Mercury enters its home sign of Virgo tonight so communications get really analytical and detail oriented. But Mercury in Leo goes out with a bang this morning as it quincunxes Mars in Capricorn. Make adjustments or communications could get testy. #astrology

Everyone knows that a new moon is an ideal time to set new intentions.  With a new moon in Virgo, the focus will undoubtedly be on setting new intentions for health, healing and trying to protect our planet earth.  Chiron in 0 degrees of Aries squaring Saturn in 2 degrees of Capricorn has the potential to shift the focus to alternative forms of healing. A new moon in Virgo also facilitates releasing negative thinking.

Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn is trining this new moon in 17 degrees of Virgo, which adds to the sense of empowerment.  Two days before the new moon, we have a Grand Trine in Earth involving Mercury in 2 degrees of Virgo, Saturn in 2 degrees of Capricorn and Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus.  This is perfect energy for grounding, stabilizing and manifesting our goals.  It sets the stage for the empowering theme of this new moon in Virgo.

There are many positive themes involved in this Virgo new moon.  They include putting an end to procrastination, attending to details, an ability to review and analyze, problem solving and enhances organizational skills.  Our self-discipline is at an all-time high and we should be motivated to engage in self-care.  The only downsides with a Virgo new moon are tendencies towards perfectionism and to be critical and compulsive.  Be mindful of these potential pitfalls and we should have a very positive experience with the new moon.

In addition to the heavy earth planet emphasis, we also have a focus on water planets with Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Scorpio adding to the mix of this new moon.  Both the sun and moon in Virgo will be opposing Neptune in Pisces, which could create a desire to escape life’s problems, but a more constructive use of this energy is to focus on creative or spiritual endeavors.  But the sun and moon in Virgo are sextiling Jupiter in Scorpio, which can help us to ground the benefits of the ongoing Jupiter Neptune trine.  Jupiter in Scorpio sets the stage for deep emotional responses, while Neptune in Pisces helps us access a higher aspect of ourselves so that we can transcend the drama and act from a place of light and compassion.

The extended transit of Venus in Scorpio will force us to go beyond the surface in relationships.  It will be a time when we crave meaningful and intense relationships.  Venus in Scorpio is definitely not a frivolous, lightweight sign, as I can personally attest.  I have a natal Venus in Scorpio retrograde.  I will be covering the Venus retrograde transit in a later post, but I can give you a heads up that Venus in Scorpio will trigger money concerns, power struggles and issues of jealousy and obsession.

A Spiritually Healing Full Moon in Pisces and Mars Direct

We have a full moon in 3 degrees of Pisces coming up on August 26, 2018 but this may turn out to have plenty of opportunity for spiritual healing and not manifest as the usually dreaded full moon.  For starters, it’s not a lunar eclipse like last month.  A full moon in a water sign is bound to be emotional, especially when it occurs in Pisces, probably the most sensitive of the water signs, but this contains a strong theme of spiritual healing if we tap into its energy.  The highest level of a Pisces moon entails themes of compassion, kindness and a very mystical quality.  Don’t forget that we are still under the benevolent influence of that Jupiter in Scorpio/Neptune in Pisces trine that was exact on August 19, 2018.  This aspect encourages us to dream big and gives us a mystical connection to our source of inspiration.  It is indeed a time to expect miracles and manifest our dreams.

A Pisces moon can bring confusion, feeling like one is in a fog, overwhelmed or victimized.  Just don’t get caught up in the victim role and watch out for those addictions. Feelings will come to a head during this time as emotions are always heightened during a full moon in a water sign.  But it can shine a light on what you need to know.  I think that this is especially true in my case because this full moon in Pisces will trine my Mercury in Scorpio.  That phrase “more will be revealed” is definitely relevant for me personally.

One potential sticky aspect with this full moon is the fact that Venus in Libra is squaring Pluto in Capricorn.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square and I am fully aware of the fact that this aspect has the potential to bring intense feelings in relationships with issues of power and control emerging.  It has a fated quality about it and it could even bring a new relationship into your life.  If you have any planets in 18 or 19 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will definitely feel this aspect.  Once again, I am in the astrological crosshairs of this aspect with my midheaven in 19 degrees of Cancer.

Another challenging aspect that occurs on the full moon is Mercury in 15 degrees of Leo inconjunct Neptune in 15 degrees of Pisces.  The major theme of inconjuncts is the need to make adjustments and in this case we may need adjust the need to communicate and make an impact with our words while surrendering our expectations for a specific outcome.  It is requiring us to trust in the process, surrender and have faith.  All of this is easier said than done, but it is a very Piscean theme.

A really important thing to remember with this full moon is that while the moon is in the sensitive sign of Pisces, the sun is in the practical earth sign of Virgo.  Virgo is very detail-oriented and efficient.  A full moon in Pisces calls for us to find a balance between practicalities and our connection to a Higher Power.  Astrologer Pam Gregory described it as “Divinity in the Detail” and I couldn’t agree more.

There is actually a Grand Earth Trine that occurs on August 25, 2018 involving the sun in 2 degrees of Virgo, Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus and Saturn in 3 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a very stabilizing influence for new and inspired forms to support our healing and growth.  With Saturn and Uranus working harmoniously together, we can experience innovation and new ideas for the earth.  It is also very grounding energy for reaching out to attain our bigger dreams and let’s not forget that this full moon can be an opportunity to manifest our dreams.

The earth energy has been building and supporting us all week. On August 21, 2018 the moon in Capricorn trined Uranus in Taurus and conjuncted Saturn in Capricorn, inspiring me to tweet:

But I am saving the best for last because the icing on the cake occurs on August 27, 2018 at 10:05 a.m. on the east coast when Mars stations direct in 28 degrees of Capricorn.  For those of you living under a rock, Mars has been retrograde since June 26, 2018 and Mars Retrograde has been the bane of many people’s existence all summer.  We always have several planets retrograde in the summer, including Mercury, but between Mars Retrograde and three instead of two eclipses, it has been a tough summer. Most people that I know, both friends and clients, have described it as feeling just plain stuck. 

Now that Mars is going to station direct, we will all have more energy to move forward.  Of course, it’s important to remember that when a planet is stationary, its energy is magnified.  Mars is also about heat and fire and there is no denying the fact that this summer has seen more than its fair share of excessive heat and fires. 

It may take a few days for us to reap the full benefits of Mars direct, but I feel confident that by early September we will feel more energetic and confident to move forward.  Mercury will have cleared its retrograde shadow by September 2^nd, and Mars will move back into Aquarius on September 10, 2018.  Full steam ahead in terms of making progress on those goals we have spent the summer reviewing and revising.  Transiting Mars in Aquarius will actually be conjuncting my natal Mars in Aquarius in mid-October 2018, so I will definitely be feeling a surge of energy as I experience my Mars Return.

Venus in Virgo Contributes to a Grand Earth Trine

Venus entered the earth sign of Virgo on July 9, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:

Venus is actually to be considered in fall in the sign of Virgo.  A planet is considered to be in fall and weaker when it is in the sign opposite of its exaltation and Venus is exalted in Pisces. When a planet is in the sign of its fall, it tends to lose some of its strength and influence. 

Venus in Virgo tends to focus on the details in relationships, sometimes to the point of over analyzing, being critical and nitpicking. When Venus is in Virgo, there is a tendency to plan, be practical, and exaggerate our feelings.  But Venus in Virgo is also more inclined to be grounded, loyal and somewhat reserved in its expression of feelings.  It is on a quest for the truth.  Venus will be in Virgo until August 6, 2018.

But this may be one time that the transit of Venus in Virgo is actually an astrological boon that helps to mitigate some of the chaotic influence of July.  As I mentioned in last week’s post, Venus in Virgo formed a grand earth trine with Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus on the emotionally powerful solar eclipse in Cancer on July 12, 2018.  It has a stabilizing presence whose influence will be felt until July 18, 2018.  The first of this summer’s three eclipses was in Cancer, a highly sensitive water sign and it opposed Pluto in Capricorn, which made the transformation process even more turbulent, as I tweeted on July 12, 2018:

This was a very emotional eclipse and any kind of calming, stabilizing grounding influence is greatly appreciated.  Venus in Virgo is literally the middle man between Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus because it is supporting two planets that have very different agendas.  Saturn is totally at home in its home sign of Capricorn, which it rules while trying to preserve the status quo and maintain some structure while Uranus wants change.  But Uranus is not very comfortable in the fixed sign of Taurus, so this intensifies the conflict of embracing change.  Fortunately Saturn and Uranus are favorably trining each other during this transition phase making it easier to adopt new ways of doing things that don’t add to the stress level and Venus in Virgo can assist in that grounding process. 

We are literally in a period that can be literally described as the calm between the storms.  Those storms are the next two eclipses: the lunar eclipse in 4 degrees of Aquarius on July 27, 2018 and the solar eclipse in 18 degrees of Leo on August 11, 2018.  So let’s make the most of this Venus in Virgo transit and that grand earth trine to become as centered and grounded as we can.

One more little astrological detail to note.  I know that Mercury is not officially retrograde until July 26, 2018 in 23 degrees of Leo, but it did enter the shadow period in 11 degrees of Leo on July 8, 2018.  It is considered the shadow because 11 degrees of Leo is the degree that Mercury will station direct on August 19, 2018.  So if any of you are starting to feel a little wonky and questioning if Mercury is already retrograde, the shadow period is the explanation.

Taurus New Moon Gets a Boost from Grand Earth Trine

The new moon in Taurus on May 6, 2016 in 17 degrees is a very favorable time to plant those seeds for new projects. It is a Super New Moon to boot because of the moon’s proximity to the earth.  Notice that I said plant, not launch.  Mercury and Mars are still retrograde, after all.

A new moon in an earth sign is a perfect time for detoxing and decluttering.  What makes this new moon on May 6^th really special is that if forms a Grand Earth Trine with retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, retrograde Jupiter in Virgo and the north node in Virgo.  Talk about a shot of adrenaline with a potential for increased optimism, a chance for new beginnings and a literal do-over for the soul.  It may not still be the best time to act, but it can fuel the inspirational fires and pave the way to some creative resourcefulness.

The icing on the cake with this new moon is that Jupiter in Virgo is preparing to station direct on May 9^th.  Jupiter has been retrograde since January 8^th, so on some level, we can feel like a new year is beginning with it resuming direct motion.  As an added perk, the Sun is conjunct Mercury in Taurus on May 9^th and this provides positive energy for moving forward with new ideas.  On the following day, newly direct Jupiter in Virgo trines Venus in Taurus, expanding the potential for growth in relationships, creativity and maybe finances as well.

This new moon in Taurus falls in my 8^th house, so I am prepared for massive reflection.  I’d say that it’s a no-brainer that power issues and challenges to manifesting my desires are up for careful scrutiny.  I am trying to plant seeds and utilize my resources to increase my client base.  The new moon is in opposition to my sun and Saturn in Scorpio, so it’s no wonder that I have been feeling slowed down. Meanwhile Saturn in Sagittarius is sextiling my Libra ascendant and Mars in Aquarius, so I am becoming increasingly aware of the limitations and responsibilities that I face, but I am also focusing on revamping my services.  Stay tuned to see what changes are coming in terms of the services that I provide as the planets station direct.

Personally, I am over the moon that Jupiter is finally stationing direct.  It is sextiling my Saturn which indicates slow growth but it will be entering my 12^th house in July, which should be a boon for my work as well as a spiritual balm for my soul.  Jupiter transiting the12th house is a very pleasant, protective influence.

Mother’s Day is on May 8, 2016 and we could see a little astrological turbulence on that day in the form a Grand Cross in mutable signs.  Jupiter in Virgo will be squaring off with Saturn in Sagittarius, Neptune in Pisces and the moon in Gemini.  It will be very challenging to see things clearly and it may feel like nothing goes as planned.  And with Mercury retrograde, I wouldn’t be surprised if restaurant reservations disappear or people get delayed in their destinations for celebrations. Just try to use the positive side of all that mutable energy and be as adaptable as possible to whatever occurs.  HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
