Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius Is a Real Mover and Shaker

Hang on folks because the last eclipse of 2021 will prove to be quite memorable.  It occurs on December 4 in 12 degrees of Sagittarius and is a total Solar Eclipse.  As I have frequently said, Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids and this one is no exception.

This eclipse also marks the end of the nodal cycle in Gemini and Sagittarius.  The North Node of the Moon entered Gemini on May 5, 2020 and the South Node entered Sagittarius.  The Nodes of the Moon move into Taurus and Scorpio on January 18, 2022 so there will be no more eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius until 2039.  What are the themes of a Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius?  The sign of Sagittarius is associated with truth, wisdom, enthusiasm, beliefs and generosity.  This Solar Eclipse is also conjunct Mercury in 14 degrees of Sagittarius, so don’t be surprised if there is a lot of news circulating on that day.  It is also squaring Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces, which can indicate some confusion over whatever news comes out.

Neptune recently stationed direct on December 1 after a five month nap and I don’t think that it was a coincidence that we heard about the first case of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus in the United States.  Neptune is associated with viruses and whenever a planet is stationing, it is more powerful. Mercury in Sagittarius was also inconjunct Uranus in 11 degrees of Taurus on that day, inspiring me to tweet:

On December 4, the Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius will also be forming a beneficial, flowing trine to Chiron in 8 degrees of Aries.  This is a positive influence for healing.  We can hope that its healing extends to eradicating COVID, but I am sure that many of us will gratefully accept whatever emotional healing that it brings.  But eclipses are renowned for bringing change, and this one is forming a rather uncomfortable inconjunct or quincunx aspect to wild card planet (and retrograde to boot) Uranus in 11 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect alone screams sudden changes, but since Sagittarius is a sign of hope, we can always have faith that awakenings and breakthroughs will also manifest.

If you have any planets in 12 degrees of any sign, I guarantee that you will feel the effects of this eclipse in a big way.  The Solar Eclipse falls at the end of my 2^nd house and opposes my natal Moon in 14 degrees of Gemini in my 8^th house, so I have no doubt that finances will be a huge theme for me during this eclipse.  I also have my natal Saturn in 12 degrees of Scorpio in my 1^st house and this is in a semi-sextile aspect to the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius.  Semi-sextiles are considered to be minor aspects in astrology.  I am sensing that my Saturn in Scorpio will hopefully reign in any impulsive tendencies I might develop towards finances during the eclipse.  Or it could place some restrictions on my finances.  We’ll see how this one plays out…

Since New Moons are also an opportunity to set new intentions, I encourage you to do so on this eclipse. Mars in 23 degrees of Scorpio is also forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in 25 degrees of Capricorn, which is a very empowering vibe. The Solar Eclipse is conjunct the Ascendant of the United States as the country prepares to enter its Pluto Return.  With the United States having its Pluto Return exact in 2022, there will be new beginnings and rebirth economically and spiritually.

It’s also important to remember that this is a South Node eclipse, and is 11 degrees away from the South Node in 1 degree of Sagittarius.  The themes of a South Node eclipse include clearing the old and letting go of old belief systems.  Fears and insecurities will undoubtedly crop up for processing and release.  Let it happen, whatever comes up.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine.  If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. The Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated. And we still don’t have all of the facts on the Omicron strain yet!  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone! 

 

 

A Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius, Venus Enters Sagittarius and Saturn Moves into Aquarius

Last week may have been fairly quiet astrologically, but this coming week is chock full of comings and goings.  We have the last eclipse of 2020 on December 14 in 23 degrees of Sagittarius. This will be the sixth eclipse of 2020, which is a bit rare because there are usually 4 or 5 eclipses per year but no one can dispute that 2020 has been an unusual year.

The Solar Eclipse on December 14 is a total eclipse because the Moon is completely obscuring the sun and a total eclipse only occurs every 18 months or so.  The last one occurred on August 21, 2017 in 28 degrees of Leo.  This Solar Eclipse actually has a very strong link to the Lunar Eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius of June 5, 2020. Try to remember what you needed to release back in June.  An eclipse in Sagittarius will have strong themes of freedom, the truth, justice and the law.

What does the rest of astrological landscape look like on December 14?  Neptune in 18 degrees of Pisces is squaring the eclipse, so we really won’t know the whole truth until sometime in 2021.  And let’s face it, Neptune is very connected to COVID-19 and I am convinced that it is no accident that news of a vaccine surfaced when Neptune stationed direct on November 28.  But Sagittarius is a very optimistic sign, full of faith and very future oriented, so we have something to be grateful for with this eclipse.  Don’t forget that the Moon is conjunct Mercury in Sagittarius, trining Mars in Aries and Mercury in Sagittarius is trining Mars too.  That’s a lot of positive mental energy that can be put to use setting new intentions and all of that fire is very action oriented.  Since Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids, I urge everyone to set some new intentions.  Anyone with planets in 20-26 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will the effects of this eclipse the most acutely.  The Solar Eclipse falls in my third house and sextiles my Neptune in Libra while trining my Pluto in Leo, so I think it is fair to say that I will not be very quiet on that day.  I plan on setting some intentions and making some connections. 

The Moon may be entering Capricorn on the evening of the 14^th, but Venus is joining the Sagittarius party with the Sun and Mercury on the 15^th.  And Venus in Sagittarius is definitely a party animal. It will be in Sagittarius until January 8, 2021, so make the most of it.  Trust me when I say that you will notice a big difference from Venus in Scorpio and its intensity.  Love will be lighter and more open when Venus is in Sagittarius because it is very social, freedom loving, and joyous.  Truth and honesty are of the utmost importance now.  We will be feeling more optimistic and crave more excitement.  Just be aware that the shadow side of Venus in Sagittarius involves excessive spending highly unusual holiday season.  

Chiron is also stationing direct in 4 degrees of Aries on December 15.  Chiron has been retrograde since July 11.  Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer and it’s quite ironic that this year’s retrograde occurred during a pandemic.  Hopefully we can use the wisdom that we have painfully garnered during this period and put it to good use for healing in the coming months.  Yes, we have the promise of vaccines for this deadly virus, but we will still need to continue acting wisely and bravely to protect ourselves and others by social distancing and wearing masks.  It will be awhile before we see the light at the end of this tunnel. Aries is a warrior and we need to tap into that warrior energy and spirit.  

Saturn is moving into Aquarius on December 16, 2020 until March 7, 2023.  I am sure that I am not alone in being happy that Saturn will be leaving the sign of Capricorn for another 29 years.  After all, this past year has been a heavy influx of Capricorn energy, starting with the Saturn Pluto conjunction on January 12 and the three Jupiter Pluto conjunctions in April, June and November.  They will all be associated with the Coronavirus; it was introduced to the world in January and cases spiked after each Jupiter-Pluto conjunction.  Jupiter will be leaving Capricorn for Aquarius on December 19, which I will cover more in next week’s blog.   But it is a relief to be having Saturn and Jupiter leaving Capricorn.  Yes, we still have Pluto in Capricorn until 2024, but at least Saturn is departing and Jupiter is not very comfortable in Capricorn, either.

What will it be like with Saturn in Aquarius?  Saturn in Aquarius is all about working towards the future and more humanitarianism.  This is a big change from Saturn in Capricorn, which was more concerned with preserving the past and materialistic structures.  Saturn in Aquarius encourages us to access our inner rebel and think outside the box.  We will be more likely to utilize technology to improve our social life and focus on global concerns like the Coronavirus and climate change. Social justice will be a prominent theme with Saturn in Aquarius.  The last time Saturn was in Aquarius was from February 1991 through January 1994.  This is when the Internet was born and it completely changed our lives.  Of course, anyone born during this period will be undergoing their first Saturn Return with this transit of Saturn in Aquarius.  The generation born between1962-1964 will be experiencing their second Saturn Return. 

If you have planets in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio you will feel driven to make profound changes in the next couple of years as a result of Saturn in Aquarius. I confess that the upcoming Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in 0 degrees of Aquarius on December 21 is getting me a little apprehensive because it exactly squares my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio.  I won’t even get started on how Saturn in Aquarius will impact my natal Saturn, Sun and Venus in Scorpio or my Pluto in Leo.  I have some time to prepare for those transits.
