Relationships Get a Boost as Venus Sextiles Saturn, Mercury Retrogrades in Sagittarius and a Boost of Energy with the Sun Trining Mars

 

The season of Sagittarius is upon us, Pluto is permanently in Aquarius for the next 20 years and we have yet another Mercury retrograde looming in Sagittarius on November 25 just in time for the holidays.  But first we have a really positive aspect in store on November 22.  Venus in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn (FINALLY direct as of November 15) in 12 degrees of Pisces.

What can we expect when Venus is sextiling Saturn?  For starters, it increases our need for companionship and fosters stability in relationships.  It gives us a common-sense approach and resolutions to recent difficulties are easier to find.  Mutual understanding is possible as we experience more clarity in addition to the ability to establish boundaries and foundations.  Since Venus also rules finances in addition to love, this is also a fortuitous day for business dealings, purchases and creative endeavors.  It's a perfect segue into the weekend, so enjoy it.

Mercury retrograde officially starts on November 25 in 22 degrees of Sagittarius and officially ends on December 15 in 6 degrees of Sagittarius.  I use the word officially because we need to realize that the shadow period began on November 7 and the shadow will end on January 2, 2025.  Mercury is not that comfortable in Sagittarius; it's actually considered to be in detriment because Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo.  Mercury in Sagittarius can be extremely blunt.  Mercury in Sagittarius will definitely travel heavily and it can cause us to rethink our plans and ideals.  It could also affect our Thanksgiving dinner table talk; don't say that I didn't warn you... Another potential manifestation of this Mercury retrograde is that we might need to insure and track whatever gifts that we send.  Then there are the usual Mercury retrograde effects: missed connections, delays in travel, misunderstandings and electronic malfunctions.  There is one bright spot during this Mercury retrograde: the Sun and Mercury are conjunct or Cazimi on December in 14 degrees of Sagittarius.  This might actually bring us some sharp focus on the lessons of this particular Mercury retrograde.  It goes without saying that while everyone feels Mercury retrograde to some extent, anyone with planets in 6 to 22 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will bear the brunt of it.  I can't wait for it to hit my Moon in 14 degrees of Gemini!

We do have another delightful aspect to be grateful for in the coming week.  On November 27, the Sun in Sagittarius will be trining Mars in 5 degrees of Leo.  This aspect provides a burst of energy and a strong urge to take action.  It literally supports decisive action and pursuit of our passions with confidence.  It also boosts our self-confidence and enthusiasm.  We can make an excellent impression on others.  Enjoy this day and make the most of it.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. The Sun and Mercury Make Some Big Moves and a Highly Emotionally Charged Full Moon in Cancer

 

Capricorn season is upon us and true to the cardinal, initiating nature of this earth sign, there is a lot of activity afoot.  The Sun entered Capricorn on the evening of December 21, when I posted:

The Sun and retrograde Mercury are conjunct in 1 degree of Capricorn on December 22.  This is also known as Cazimi because the two planets are exactly conjunct. Mercury will literally be in the heart of the Sun, and despite the fact that Mercury is retrograde, its powers are strengthened and illuminated.  So this is a day to make big plans, as is the nature of Capricorn.  And we could be hearing some very important news on this day...

On December 23, retrograde Mercury slides back into Sagittarius until January 13, 2024.  Mercury will be direct on January 1, 2024 (Happy New Year!) but it will station direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius.  Now we need to be mindful of the fact that Mercury is not a happy camper in the sign of Sagittarius.  Mercury in Sagittarius is more inclined to be careless and less sensitive in terms of how it communicates with others, as it is more impulsive.  It tends to talk first and think later.  And I don't need to remind you that Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius can really muck up travel plans, so please allot extra time to get to your destination.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, the Sun in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 2 degrees of Pisces.  This is yet another good omen for the Sun in the hard-working sign of Capricorn.  Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn, and it is in a favorable aspect to the Sun.  Rewards and positive results are likely, even if it just means that you managed to score the perfect last-minute Christmas gifts.

How does Christmas Day look?  On December 25, Venus in Scorpio is trining Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces.  This is a delightful combination that manifests in compassion and empathy.  It is perfect for daydreaming and perhaps catching a movie.  It is not exactly high energy, but it can be quite enjoyable, so make the most of it.  Venus will be exactly conjunct my Venus, so I am looking forward to it...

The water works could be flowing, in a good way, on December 26 when we have our last Full Moon of 2023 in 4 degrees of Cancer. This Full Moon has frequently been referred to as the Cold Moon because it is the first Full Moon after the winter solstice on December 21.  And, let's face it, the weather can be extremely cold at this time of year. The Farmers' Almanac said that the term originated from the Native American tribes.  We can find ourselves being more nostalgic, sentimental and reflective on this Full Moon.  The Moon is also very strong and powerful because it is in its home sign of Cancer. The Moon in Cancer is also sextiling Jupiter in 5 degrees of Taurus, which can bring us more hope and optimism for the future.  Another perk of this Full Moon is that it trines Saturn in 2 degrees of Pisces, helping us to have more patience and endurance to complete whatever we need to wind down at the end of this year.  Chiron is stationing direct in 15 degrees of Aries on the Full Moon, providing another opportunity to heal old emotional wounds and leave the past behind.  It can truly be a healing Full Moon, especially since Chiron has been retrograde since July 23, 2023.

The Sun in Capricorn is trining Jupiter in 5 degrees of Taurus on December 27 and this aspect tends to generate growth, prosperity and opportunities for success.  It is indeed another lucky day, so make the most of it.

Venus and Mercury Switch Directions, the Sun Changes Signs and a Full Moon in Gemini

The game of musical planetary chairs continues at breakneck speed in the coming week to make the month of November a highly active astrological month.  On November 16, 2018, Venus stations direct in 25 degrees of Libra at 5:51 a.m. on the east coast of the United States.  At 8:33 p.m. Mercury stations retrograde in 13 degrees of Sagittarius until December 6, 2018 when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Scorpio.  That’s right, folks, if you feel like you didn’t have the full Mercury in Scorpio experience in October, you get one last shot at it because Mercury slips back into Scorpio on December 2, 2018.

With Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius for most of its transit, honesty and the truth will be essential themes.  And Mercury in Sagittarius is renowned for having no filters when it comes to speaking its truth.  It goes without saying that all Mercury retrogrades are a time to reflect and review all of the choices and decisions that we have made recently and perhaps revise them.  And the main thing to remember is that Mercury Retrograde is not a good time to sign contracts, buy a new car, computer, cell phone or accept a new job. Communications could be confusing, especially with Mercury in a mutable sign and expect transportation delays. 

On the plus side, we do have Venus direct now and it is in its happy place in the sign of Libra.  Of course Venus moves back into Scorpio on December 2, 2018, so make the most of Venus in Libra for the next couple of weeks.  We should have more clarity and insight on our relationships and financial picture.  Venus direct also gives us more freedom to make more commitments in these areas of our life and we have a total green light by December 18, 2018 when Venus clears its retrograde shadow.

Mars recently moved into the sign of Pisces on November 15, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:

Of course it took me several hours to realize that I had meant to say inclined in that post, which felt like Mercury Retrograde was starting early for me.  So I owned that mistake and tweeted:

Mars in Pisces is forming a very important aspect with Jupiter in Sagittarius which will be exact on November 19, 2018 in 2 degrees of their respective signs as they square each other.  This aspect can make us very idealistic and contribute to a tendency to bite off more than we can chew.  We may very well be overly enthusiastic and exuberant as we overestimate our abilities.  Since both of these planets are in mutable signs, there will be a lot of flexibility involved but things can change in the blink of an eye.  The bottom line with this aspect is to look before you leap, especially with Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius at the same time.

The sun moves into Sagittarius on November 22, 2018, which is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. The sun in Sagittarius has a much lighter vibe than the sun in Scorpio, when the focus was primarily on the need for an intimate connection with another or ourselves.  The energy will shift to reaching out to the world and expanding our horizons.  The sun in Sagittarius is also a time of more confidence and enthusiasm as we are more inclined to focus on the big picture.  Faith and hope are strong but there may be a tendency to have pie in the sky expectations, especially this year with Jupiter in Sagittarius.

We also have a full moon in 0 degrees of Gemini on November 22^nd.  This is actually the beginning of a cycle of 5 full moons in 0 degrees and the next full moon in April 2019 will be in 29 degrees of Libra.  This tends to reinforce the belief that humanity is headed for new beginnings, as 0 and 29 are considered critical degrees.  A full moon in Gemini will have strong themes of communication and self-talk.

It’s also important to note that there are 7 planets in mutable signs on the day of this full moon.  The sun, Mercury and Jupiter are in Sagittarius, the moon is in Gemini, and Chiron, Mars and Neptune are in Pisces.  This probably won’t be the most focused full moon with all of this mutable, chameleon like energy because it is very reactive and impulsive.  It does promote creativity and if there is any drama at the Thanksgiving table, it should blow over fairly quickly.  At least Mars is out of fixed sign Aquarius, so the stubborn quality that Mars focused on for the past few months is missing.  The sun is conjunct Jupiter in 3 degrees of Sagittarius on this full moon, which means that Jupiter is also opposing the full moon in Gemini.  The only inherent danger with Jupiter opposing the moon is tendency to be dogmatic and judgmental.

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers in the United States!

Double Whammy with Mercury Retrograde and a Super Full Moon in Gemini

December 3, 2017 will be one astrologically intense day, mark my words.  We will literally be undergoing a double whammy with Mercury stationing retrograde in 29 degrees of Sagittarius at 2:34 a.m. and a full moon in 11 degrees of Gemini opposing the sun at 10:47 a.m.  Full moons are always a time of heightened emotions, but this is technically a super full moon because the moon is very close to the earth.  It will have a strong effect, some of us may face closure and there could be even more scandalous revelations.

Gemini is one of the signs ruled by Mercury (Virgo is the other sign) and Gemini is all about communication and logic.  And Mercury stationing retrograde on the same day of a full moon is extremely problematic and complicated.  This full moon will be forming a T-square to Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces because both the sun in Sagittarius and moon in Gemini square it, which can have a tendency to dissolve that Gemini logic.  It can, however, be a highly creative and spiritual time.

Another important aspect that occurs on this full moon is that Mercury stationing retrograde will be conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius.  This aspect also occurred on November 28^th, inspiring me to tweet:

And this aspect occurs again on December 6, 2017.  This is a big deal because Mercury stationed retrograde in 29 degrees, which is considered the critical degree... What happens when Mercury conjuncts Saturn?  Serious news comes out and with a full moon in Gemini, this could play out as some rather revealing emails being exposed.  But the plus side of Mercury in Sagittarius is that it does seek out higher consciousness and the meaning of wisdom. 

Here is a litany of the themes that could manifest with this full moon due to its T-square to Neptune in Pisces: deception, scandals, thefts, difficult to diagnose illnesses and experiences that seem to defy reality.  The sun in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces increases the risk of confusion, deception and disappointment.  Depression is also possible, as is the tendency to engage in substance abuse.  The moon in Gemini squaring Neptune in Pisces cautions us to beware of making important decisions and not be taken in by con artists.  The bottom line is to not fall in the trap of being gullible during this full moon.

Now that I have everyone alarmed regarding this full moon, I also want to alert you to the saving grace of this full moon which is quite literally a silver lining.  There is an amazingly wonderful Jupiter in Scorpio/Neptune in Scorpio trine that is exact on the full moon and pretty much in effect through August 2018.  Jupiter in Scorpio will expand the divine spirituality of Neptune in Pisces. This lovely, flowing aspect will allow us to shift our consciousness and create a new reality.  It is marvelous healing energy and a perfect time for experiencing new healing modalities, especially energy healing.

I don’t want to minimize the potential for this particular Mercury retrograde to wreak havoc.  Mercury in Sagittarius is not especially detail oriented, so it is highly likely that there will be many communication and transportation snafus during this holiday season.  Mercury will station direct on December 22, 2017 in 13 degrees of Sagittarius, but I wouldn’t want to be traveling during the holidays.  Mercury retrograde before the holidays increases the potential for gifts ordered online not reaching their destination before Christmas.  Remember the key words associated with Mercury retrograde: research, review and revise.  Try not to sign any contracts, accept a new job or launch any new endeavors if you can help it. Consider where this Mercury retrograde is happening in your chart.  It starts in my 3^rd house and it stations direct in my 2^nd house in 13 degrees of Sagittarius.  First I get the full communication issues experience during Mercury retrograde (talk about another double whammy) and then financial ones.

As for the full moon in 11 degrees of Gemini, it falls in my 8^th house and conjuncts my natal moon.  The theme of finances continues for me.  I’m sure I will be in highly emotional state that day but at least it will be beneficial for my Reiki work!

We have another bit of astrological good tidings coming up.  On December 5, 2017, Chiron stations direct in 24 degrees of Pisces.  Chiron has been retrograde since July 1, 2017.  Chiron is frequently referred to as the Wounded Healer and I suspect that many of us have spent the last five months getting deeper in touch with our wounds.  Now that Chiron is moving in a direct motion (it will be actually be entering the sign of Aries briefly in April 2018) we are in a better place to accept our wounds and learn from them so that they can truly teach us as we move forward and heal.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
