Leo Season is Roaring in as Mercury Retrogrades in Leo, the Sun Enters Leo and We Have a New Moon in Leo

 

Be ready to roar because Leo season is here.  On July 18, Mercury stations retrograde in 15 degrees of Leo.  This Mercury retrograde will be entirely in Leo, and will station direct on August 11 in 4 degrees of Leo.  I don't know about you, but I have been feeling like Mercury has been retrograde all week, but Mercury has been in its retrograde shadow since June 30. Never underestimate the power of the retrograde shadow period when it comes to Mercury.  Mercury will clear its retrograde shadow on August 25 when it hits 15 degrees of Leo.

Mercury retrograde is associated with delays and challenges in communication and transportation, as well as electronic malfunctions. We could also be hearing from ex-lovers or old friends when Mercury is retrograde.  When it is retrograde in Leo, there can be more drama and impulsivity.  Mercury retrograde calls for us to reevaluate and when it is in Leo, we could be reevaluating our creativity.  Egos could be bruised quite easily too. The spoiler alert is that anyone with planets or points (Ascendant, Nodes of the Moon, Descendant or Midheaven) in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio will bear the brunt of this Mercury retrograde.

The Sun enters the fixed fire sign of Leo on July 22.  The Sun rules Leo, so it is quite literally in its element now. Be open to a month of feeling playful, fun-loving and proud. It is a time to shine and strut your stuff. Generally we are feeling more generous when the Sun is in Leo and it is time to let that inner child out to play.  There is a very good reason that people tend to go on vacation when the Sun is in Leo...

The Leo energy continues on July 24 with the New Moon in 2 degrees of Leo.  This one will have the theme of a fresh start in creativity, self-expression and leadership underscored by the feeling of power in the moment. We are still feeling the urge to shine.  The New Moon in Leo will also highlight social injustice and social exclusion.

The Sun in Leo is also trining Neptune in 2 degrees of Aries, which can make us more sensitive and empathetic to the environment and open us up to socializing.  The Moon in Leo is opposing Pluto in Aquarius, which can trigger some control issues and manipulative tactics in relationships.  Watch out for jealousy and obsessiveness to rear their ugly heads...  This New Moon is squaring my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio in my 1st house, so I doubt it will be a quiet time for me...

Saturn in Aries is forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in Aquarius on the New Moon, however, and this should help us overcome hardships with endurance and determination. It is time to channel a strong work ethic.  Pluto in Aquarius is also sextiling Neptune in Aries, which holds the promise of positive change, spiritual awareness and transformative insights.  It's kind of nice that Saturn, Pluto and Neptune are cooperating with each other for a change despite the turmoil the world is undergoing these days.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
