Mercury Retrograde in Libra and Vesta in Scorpio

 

It’s that time of year again when Mercury is about to retrograde and throw a monkey wrench into communications and cause glitches in transportation and electronic malfunctions.  Mercury stations retrograde on September 27 in 25 degrees of Libra and goes direct on October 18 in 10 degrees of Libra.  But for those of us who subscribe to the theory of the retrograde shadow, this influence has been happening since September 7 when Mercury entered the shadow period in 10 degrees of Libra.  I started to feel its effects on September 9 when I couldn’t access a Word file on my computer and wound up spending two hours on the phone with Apple Care tech support.  I am happy to report that the problem was resolved, but no one seems to know why I was denied access to my own files.  Apple suspected that perhaps a recent Microsoft update was the culprit in rescinding my license.  As if that weren’t enough trauma, on the 13^th I received notification from my bank about a suspicious transaction with my bank card.  Now I had not lost my bank card, but somehow someone got my number and tried to use it on Google.com.  That meant my bank card was suspended and I was being reissued a new card and number.  I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of recurring expenses charged to my bank card, so that meant I needed to inform several merchants about the new payment method.  In spite of my diligence, one still fell through the cracks and one merchant managed to charge my old card number and declined the charge.  It was eventually straightened out, but I was not exactly thrilled at having to spend three hours on hold with that company’s customer service and still didn’t get to speak to a human being.  So Mercury Retrograde can be very frustrating, even in its shadow period. I will give you a heads up that Mercury doesn’t leave its retrograde shadow period until November 2 when it hits 25 degrees of Libra.

How is Mercury Retrograde going to play out in Libra?  Well, we all know that Libra is all about relating, so this one will have a major impact on relationships.  I certainly wouldn’t recommend committing to a new relationship during this period, but this is an ideal time to address old issues and heal old wounds with current partners. The point of a retrograde transit is to do the re things: review, revisit, revise, etc.  On October 1 Mercury in 24 degrees of Libra will be exactly squaring Pluto in 24 degrees of Capricorn, which could prove to be a very contentious day with power struggles in relationships and misunderstandings galore. When Mercury is retrograde, people from your past have a way of turning up to settle unfinished business.  It’s not the best time to take a new job because the job will undoubtedly turn out to be very different than how it was represented.  The only exception to this is if you take a position with a former employer because that is a familiar situation and it could actually turn out better than the original scenario because you are resolving unfinished business. 

I usually don’t discuss the asteroids that much here, but this week I digress to talk about Vesta in Scorpio.  Vesta is the asteroid that was the Roman goddess of home and family.  She is associated with commitment, dedication to goals, your sense of purpose and the flame in your soul.  It also pertains to your approach to duties and how you make commitments.  Vesta entered the sign of Scorpio on September 20 and will remain in Scorpio until November 17.  Since I am a Scorpio, I take this very personally.  Vesta in Scorpio is very powerful and resourceful, possessing a great deal of depth.  In terms of commitment, it will go through hell to get what it wants.  I don’t have Vesta in Scorpio; I have it in Cancer in my 9^th house, but this transit of Vesta in Scorpio will trine my natal Vesta, my south node in Cancer, my midheaven in Cancer and my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer. And it hits my stellium of Scorpio planets.  Some of you might find that this transit forces you to get rid of things, situations and relationships that are no longer serving your best interests.

I know that the Sun just entered Libra on September 22, but we are still dealing with an undercurrent of Scorpio energy due to Venus in Scorpio until October 7.  On September 23, Venus in Scorpio was in exact opposition to Uranus in 14 degrees of Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

So I am just saying that with Vesta and Venus in Scorpio, we can expect the emotional intensity to continue for a while…

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. At some point, probably in 2022, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. This new Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!  

 

An Emotionally Charged Full Moon in Pisces and the Sun Enters Libra

 

We are about to experience one of the most emotionally intense Full Moons of the year on September 20 in 28 degrees of Pisces. All Full Moons tend to ramp up the magnitude of feelings, but when you have a Full Moon in the super sensitive water sign of Pisces, it goes deeper than other Full Moons.  Pisces is emotional, sensitive, complex, empathetic and brimming with wisdom and experience.  But there is a shadow side of Pisces that entails deception, betrayal and confusion because Pisces is ruled by the planet Neptune and Neptune is currently in 21 degrees of Pisces and will be conjunct this Full Moon. A Full Moon conjunct Neptune can be highly creative and spiritual, but it can also bring confusion, chaos and a sense of being emotionally overwhelmed.

Think back to the New Moon in 23 degrees of Pisces on March 13, 2021.  Is there anything that you began back then?  If so, you could be seeing some sense of completion now if you initiated a new project.  Since the Sun is in Virgo now, there is also a strong healing theme with this Full Moon.  Health and healing are on the front burner with this Full Moon.  The Sun in Virgo forms an out-of-sign conjunction with Mars in 3 degrees of Libra, which can inspire us to fight for fairness and commit to helping others.  Mars entered Libra on September 14, when I tweeted:

As for the rest of the Full Moon activity, there is a lot going on.  Venus in Scorpio was forming an exact square to Saturn in Aquarius on September 17 and we will still be feeling the influence of this aspect on the Full Moon.  Venus squaring Saturn can truly test a relationship and can make us feel frustrated and restricted.  Venus in 11 degrees of Scorpio will be opposing Uranus in 14 degrees of Taurus on the Full Moon and this can lead to a relationship breakup if you are feeling unsatisfied.  Conversely, this aspect can cause a new relationship to suddenly start.  The bottom line with these aspects is if you have any planets between 6 and 14 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, you are going to feel the effects of this Full Moon intensely.  It certainly looks like my Saturn in Scorpio and Mars in Aquarius are in the line of fire but the Full Moon does fall in my 6^th house, so I am banking on the healing theme.

We do have a couple of positive aspects on the Full Moon which will help us navigate these emotionally troubled waters.  Jupiter in Aquarius is exactly trining Mercury in 23 degrees of Libra, which is extremely beneficial in terms of perceiving the big picture and planning for the future.  And we are still reaping the benefits of the Sun in Virgo trining Pluto in Capricorn which was exact on September 16.  When the Sun is trining Pluto, we feel more comfortable in stepping into our power.

On September 22, the Sun enters Libra for the Fall Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. Mercury in Libra is exactly square Pluto in 24 degrees of Capricorn on that day, which could result in judgments by the court and some news about major transformation.  The Sun will also be conjunct Mars in 4 degrees of Libra accompanied by the themes of sex and money.  When the Sun is in Libra, our main focus is on finding harmony and balance through relationships with others.  Libra is the sign associated with tact, diplomacy, style, tolerance and sociability.  It also loves to play peacemaker.  But the shadow side of the Sun in Libra include indecisiveness, passive-aggressive behavior and superficiality.  The Sun is considered to be in fall in Libra because it is not comfortable expressing the ego and core self due to its focus on relationships and pleasing others.  It is constantly seeking balance.

Venus and Mars are on the Move

Venus in Scorpio is a very different animal than Venus in Libra and love (and finances) will take on a whole new vibe.  Venus in Scorpio is considered to be in detriment because Venus rules Libra and Taurus, so it can be more difficult to express those loving feelings in a gentle way. And Venus in Scorpio doesn’t do superficial; it craves a body and soul connection because its bottom line is all or nothing. Venus in Scorpio sees everything in black and white and doesn’t do gray.  Loyalty is a quality associated with Venus in Scorpio, but if you make the mistake of betraying a loved one, revenge will ensue.  And this is not going to be a pretty sight when its stinger is unleashed. The shadow side of Venus in Scorpio entails jealousy, obsession, payback by striking where it hurts and emotional manipulation.  But you have to admit that when Venus is in Scorpio, there is intensity and passion galore with all of that smoldering energy.

Since Venus also rules finances in addition to love.  When Venus is in Scorpio, it can be quite lucrative for financial affairs as it tends to attract money from others.  Scorpio is the sign associated with other people’s money.  Freelancers and the self-employed should fare very well during the transit of Venus in Scorpio.

Mars, the planet of desire, is moving from Virgo into Libra on September 14 and stays in Libra until October 30. Mars was very strong and productive in the sign of Virgo. Mars is considered to be in detriment in Libra because Mars rules its opposite sign Aries.  Mars is associated with action and Mars in Libra is inherently passive.  When Mars is in Libra we are just not that comfortable expressing anger and are conflict averse.   We tend to use charm to win arguments with style.  We are motivated by relationships and are less inclined to rock the boat.  The shadow side of Mars in Libra is procrastination, indecision and passive aggressive behavior.  But Mars in Libra is motivated to fight for what is fair and right, so this is literally the ace up our sleeve in terms of utilizing the energy of the Mars in Libra transit.

On September 16, we have an opportunity for more intense and deep experiences when the Sun in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn are forming an exact trine in 24 degrees of their respective signs.  A trine between these two planets is much easier to deal with than a square or opposition.  The trine allows us to clear the clutter in our lives for positive transformation to occur.  We will be feeling more empowered in our ability to make changes because we are not afraid to delve into the darkness that Pluto represents.  And let’s face it, 2021 is a transitional year that is all about change.  It’s nice when we get a cosmic break to help us on our path.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. This new Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!  

 

A Complicated New Moon in Virgo

September is here and we are definitely feeling the energy of Virgo.  The Sun and Mars are in Virgo and we have a New Moon in 14 degrees of Virgo on September 6.  There has been a great deal of planetary energy setting up this New Moon.  On September 2, Mars in Virgo was exactly opposing Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces, inspiring me to tweet:

The Moon has also been extremely active since September started, setting the stage for a complicated and intense New Moon in Virgo.  On September 1 the Moon was in its home sign of Cancer, but it gave a helping hand to the Sun in Virgo with its sextile aspect:

This is going to be an extremely emotional New Moon and one more major aspect occurs on the 5^th which will really set it off.  Venus in Libra will exactly square Pluto in 24 degrees of Capricorn.  I have a Venus-Pluto square natally, and I can tell you that it will ignite extremes of anger, obsession, compulsiveness and self-destructive behavior.  It could also reveal some issues that have been buried for quite some time.  But New Moons are renowned for revealing and illuminating.  This New Moon is also exactly squaring my natal Moon in 14 degrees of Gemini in my 8^th house, so I am feeling this one intently.  And that Mars-Neptune opposition has been manifesting in crises for many people, as evidenced by what my clients are telling me.

Generally speaking, the New Moon is a perfect time to set new intentions.  A New Moon in Virgo is all about practical manifestation and is very detailed in its specifications for what it wants.  It can literally be a time of creating order from chaos.  Decluttering is also a major theme of this New Moon in Virgo. Since Virgo is ruled by Mercury, it can involve disseminating information.  And a New Moon in Virgo is a perfect time to reboot our health routines and get in better shape.  Perhaps we want to adopt a new diet and exercise plan?

Mars in Virgo is trining Pluto in Capricorn on this New Moon, so we will definitely have the energy to move forward and transform our lives.  Uranus in Taurus is also trining the Moon, so there can be sudden opportunities and new technology presenting themselves to us as we seek to accomplish our desire for change.  This is a Grand Earth Trine, which we shouldn’t waste to get moving.  And we also have a Grand Air Trine with Mercury in Libra, Saturn in Aquarius and Ceres in Gemini on the New Moon, so information should be flowing freely that could very well involve issues pertaining to our food supply.  This New Moon is also forming a wide opposition to Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces, which will hopefully manifest in more compassion and selfless service to others.

Venus in Libra is exactly trining Jupiter in 25 degrees of Aquarius on the New Moon, which will relieve some of the stress that the Venus squaring Pluto purge caused on the previous day.  This is a very optimistic vibe that can bring good luck and a new vision for the future.  I also have a natal Venus-Jupiter trine and believe me, it is very helpful to have, especially in challenging times.  So I hope that all of you out there set some powerful new intentions on this New Moon in Virgo.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. At some point, probably in 2022, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
