Massive Changes Underway this Week as the Sun Enters Taurus, Jupiter and Uranus are Conjunct in Taurus, A Full Moon in Scorpio and Mercury Goes Direct

 




This week has plenty of planetary action including the Sun's ingress into Taurus, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus, a Full Moon in Scorpio and Mercury going direct on April 25.  We have come through eclipse season and Pluto entering Aquarius in January, but this week could top the charts quite literally.  There is a strong theme of shedding and releasing prevalent in the second half of April.

On April 19, the Sun leaves Aries and enters the fixed earth sign of Taurus.  I think that I can safely surmise that most of us are exhausted by now with Aries season. That Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8 is still in effect for many of us. We still have Mercury, Venus, Chiron and the North Node in Aries, but at least the Sun is leaving.  What can we expect when the Sun is in Taurus?  Well, it is ruled by Venus, which loves harmony, sensuality and enjoys the finer things in life.  We can't forget that Aries is ruled by Mars, which is a very different vibe than peace-loving Venus. When the Sun is in Taurus, we tend to be more receptive, grounded and methodical. Of course, the shadow side of Taurus is a tendency to be more stubborn (aka the Bull) and possessive.

Mars in Pisces is forming supportive sextiles to Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus on April 19.  This is setting the stage for the main attraction on April 20 when Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct in 21 degrees of Taurus. This is a cosmic green light for positive change in new directions.  It provides energy and motivation to move forward.

Jupiter is conjunct Uranus every 13 or 14 years and denotes a period of breakdowns or breakthroughs.  Breaking free is the mantra with this aspect. It starts a whole new cycle of change that will last for the next 14 years. The last time Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct was in June 2010 in 0 degrees of Aries and again in September 2010 and January 2011 in the late degrees of Pisces.  Jupiter conjunct Uranus can feel somewhat disruptive but it is ultimately productive. There will be an emphasis on survival and self-reliance with the conjunction occurring in Taurus.  There is also the likelihood of more earthquakes or natural disasters with it falling in the earth sign of Taurus.  The last time we had a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus was in May 1941 during World War 2.  This conjunction is also trining the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn that happened on January 12, 2020 and ushered in the COVID era that featured themes of contraction, control and limitation.  Remember lockdowns and toilet paper shortages???  Perhaps we will feel like we are finally clearing the shadow of this era.  Astrologer Pam Gregory has described the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction as a "Thank the Lord" aspect of liberation and I couldn't agree more with her.  The tricky part is that you are thanking the Lord when it is over, not so much when it is happening.

Who is going to feel the effects of this aspect most acutely?  Anyone with planets in 19-23 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will probably feel more shockwaves initially from this aspect.  The effects of the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction will be felt for awhile, so don't think if nothing happens to you on this day, you have escaped it. Venus and Chiron are also conjunct in Aries on this day, which is an incentive to break up old patterns in relationships, such as people-pleasing.

The Sun in Taurus is squaring Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius on April 21.  There is a strong theme with this aspect of letting go of attachments and control issues.  I have this aspect natally, so trust me when I speak about control and power being major issues.  In a way, this aspect is setting the stage the Full Moon in 4 degrees of Scorpio on April 23.

The Full Moon in 4 degrees of Scorpio on April 23 is also squaring Scorpio's ruling planet, Pluto in Aquarius.  Pluto is actually forming a T-square to the Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio, so this Full Moon will be intense, I kid you not. But it can also be quite empowering.  Hold that thought... The themes of power, truth, control, commitment and secrets coming to light will prevail.  Some of these secrets could pertain to money with the Sun being in Taurus.  Safety and security issues could arise.  The shadow side of Scorpio entails revenge and grudge-holding but try to rise to the higher level of Scorpio which has integrity, loyalty and higher morality.  I urge everyone to try to be as spiritually compassionate as possible because Scorpio's shadow side can be pretty destructive.  If you have any planets in 0-4 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, you will probably be dealing with issues of empowerment, control and manipulation.

The week ends on a very promising note on April 25 when Mercury stations direct in 16 degrees of Aries.  Mercury has been retrograde since April 1, which was not exactly the nicest April Fool's joke.  It was in Aries during the whole retrograde, having stationed retrograde in 27 degrees of Aries and I am sure that this added to the impatience most of us experienced.  We finally get to see a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to communication and transportation snafus.  Just remember that Mercury officially clears its retrograde shadow on May 13 and we should all be fine.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. Chiron in Aries Continues to be a Major Player in the Astrological Landscape


There is no ignoring Chiron in Aries these days.  We had a Total Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries on April 8 that was exactly conjunct Chiron.  On that day I posted:

What is the big deal with Chiron?  In addition to being known as the Wounded Healer, Chiron was a wise centaur who was a mentor for others but was also wounded due to the fact that he was born half-man and half-horse.  His wound occurred because his mother abandoned him at birth. His initial wound was rejection, but Apollo adopted him and taught him prophecy and poetry. Apollo gave him the chance to integrate the gap between nature and spirit.  In order to experience a Chironic healing we must reconcile what is unacceptable or incompatible within ourselves.  The reconciliation becomes our unique advantage and greatest gift.  

Martin Lass wrote a brilliant book called Chiron Healing Body and Soul that I highly recommend.  He also has a very profound statement in the book: "The gift is in the wound."  The bottom line is that the wound is the key to something greater and the gift it holds.

I have a very prominent and active Chiron in my chart; it is in my 4th house in Capricorn and opposes my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house while squaring my Neptune in Libra in my 1st house.  It also sextiles my Sun and Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house, so being a healer was definitely in the cards for me.

If you are interested in a Chiron-themed movie, I urge you to see The King's Speech, which was made in 2010 and won Oscars for Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.  Colin Firth starred as Prince Albert who ascended to become King George VI when his brother abdicated, but his wound was his stammer.  His wife Elizabeth (who later became the Queen Mother) hired an Australian actor and speech therapist to help him overcome his stammer so that he could become King.  This was a time when public speaking, especially on the radio, was a crucial part of the job of a monarch.  As an astrologer, I found it supremely ironic that Colin Firth was actually undergoing his Chiron Return (which occurs for everyone around age 50) when he made the film.

How is Chiron in Aries still active?  On April 12, the Moon in Gemini is forming a supportive sextile to Chiron in 19 degrees of Aries.  This increases the potential for healing and growth by working through insecurities and past emotional wounds.  The sextile can actually attract people and opportunities that provide us with more security by putting our wounds into perspective.  That Gemini Moon is also sextiling Mercury in Aries which can help us communicate our feelings and needs.

On April 15, we have two more Chiron aspects.  The Moon in Cancer squares Chiron in 19 degrees of Aries, and this can play out as a compulsion to deal with those insecurities and wounds in new ways.  Squares are challenging aspects and we are being asked to stretch out of our comfort zone. Our intuition and desire for security are in conflict with current circumstances and we can be experiencing restless nagging feelings that something needs to be settled.

Retrograde Mercury is conjunct Chiron in 19 degrees of Aries on April 15 as well. This represents an opportunity to take a look at our wounds. Mercury conjunct Chiron means that words, thoughts and memories will trigger our old wounds and hurts.  We get to acknowledge our primal wound of inadequacy.  We could find ourselves remembering hurtful things said to us by parents, siblings, teachers or peers.  And we can't forget that since Mercury is retrograde, the past will be dredged up.  That is one of the functions of Mercury retrograde, forcing us to review the past.

Where does 19 degrees of Aries fall in your chart?  This is where the action and hopefully the healing will occur in the coming week.  After that, we have the Sun entering Taurus on April 19, a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on the 20th and a Full Moon in Scorpio on April 23.  More to come on these events in next week's post.

Aries Season Ramps Up as Venus Enters Aries and a Total Solar Eclipse in Aries


 

We are deep in the heart of Aries season, and if you aren't already feeling it with the Sun and Mercury retrograde in Aries, fasten your seatbelt because on April 5, Venus will leave the dreamy and placid water sign of Pisces to move into Aries until April 29.  When Venus is in Aries, love is more spontaneous, direct, and bold.  We are drawn to the thrill of the chase as passion and ardor take center stage.  And we can become impatient much more easily.

Venus in Aries will sextile Pluto in Aquarius on April 6.  Isn't it funny how all of these planets are meeting up with Pluto in Aquarius these days?  Venus sextiling Pluto is a quite a bit easier to take than a square, opposition or inconjunct, but it will still definitely deepen and intensity love.  Obsession is possible too, because that is the way these two planets act when they get together.  Existing relationships can take on a more profound level and our spirituality can be heightened.

The next big hit of Aries energy occurs on April 8 with the Total Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries.  This is really a major astrological event; we haven't had a total solar eclipse since August 21, 2017 in 29 degrees of Leo.  If you are old enough to remember, think back to April 8, 2005 because we had a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries on that day.  Some of the same issues could be triggered for you.

Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids and their effects can be felt for up to three months before and up to one year after they occur.  A Solar Eclipse in Aries has strong themes of new beginnings, claiming our inner authority, embarking on new adventures and finding the courage to take risks while being in the moment. Chiron is in 19 degrees of Aries on the Solar Eclipse, so it is exactly conjunct the Sun and Moon, which makes it a major player.  We could develop a major awareness of our wounds and victim consciousness, especially with retrograde Mercury in 25 degrees of Aries so close to the eclipse.  Mercury retrograde does have a way of making us review old stuff.  I don't particularly enjoy mentioning this, but Chiron in Aries also has a way of bringing gun violence: both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were killed when Chiron was in Aries in 1968.  Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, which does have a lot to do with aggression.  This is just a cautionary note that with Mercury and Chiron in the mix for the eclipse, we could hear some news about violence.  I certainly hope that it doesn't happen, but we might need to be prepared for anything.

Obviously this eclipse will impact everyone, but who will feel it the most?  If you have any cardinal planets or points (Ascendant, Midheaven, Imum Coeli, and Nodes of the Moon) in 16-22 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you are going to feel this one big time.  Once again, I am right in the line of astrological fire.  My Ascendant is in 16 degrees of Libra, my Imum Coeli (cusp of the 4th house) is in 19 degrees of Capricorn and my Midheaven is in 19 degrees of Cancer.  Astrologer Jessica Adams has even said that if you have anything in your chart at 19 degrees, your chart will be activated by this eclipse.  And in addition to my cardinal placements, my Sun is in 19 degrees of Scorpio.  What is the best way to cope with all of this astrological intensity generated during the eclipse?  I tend to agree with Jessica that if you have do have planets or points activated on the Solar Eclipse, try not to make any major decisions on that day until more is revealed.  And let's face it, eclipses have a way of delivering big reveals.  The day of April 8 should be a newsworthy day, to say the least.

On April 10, Mars and Saturn are conjunct in 14 degrees of Pisces.  Normally we don't associate good times when Mars and Saturn are aligning and some might even interpret a conjunction in Pisces as indicators of military action at sea.  But we can always take the high road and utilize this configuration to apply it to a disciplined spiritual practice.  I would definitely like to sign up for that interpretation.

The Sun and Mercury will be conjunct on April 11 in 22 degrees of Aries.  Despite Mercury being retrograde, this aspect should generate lots of communication, mental alertness, curiosity and adaptability. Big ideas could be flowing on this day.

In the meantime, hang in there with this Mercury retrograde until April 25 (it's been quite crazy so far) and ride the wave of intensity that the month of April is delivering.

Mercury Retrograde in Aries and Venus and Neptune Hook Up in Pisces


 



Well, the month of March is winding down and as of April 1, we will have one retrograde planet: Mercury will station retrograde in 27 degrees of Aries.  It will be retrograde until April 25, when it stations direct in 16 degrees of Aries.  This is quite an April Fools move, n'est pas?  I know that most people don't like Mercury retrograde, but after this week's Lunar Eclipse in Libra on March 25, it shouldn't be that bad.  On that day I posted:

We are literally in the midst of eclipse season and the next one happens on April 8.  It is a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries. And retrograde Mercury will be conjunct that Moon in Aries, which could add to more misunderstandings.

Mercury actually entered its retrograde shadow on March 19, so if you have been experiencing the usual communication, transportation and electronic malfunctions, there is a reason.  Yes, we had a Lunar Eclipse in the Mercury retrograde shadow.  I personally had quite a lot of uncomfortable activity on the Lunar Eclipse (it fell in my 12th house and squared my nodes) and I have been hearing stories from friends and clients about tough times as the clearing out and releasing process began. My husband's cell phone died on the eclipse and my printer has been acting wonky all week.

What will it be like to have Mercury retrograde in Aries?  Well, we can expect more impatience and frustration with whatever delays and snafus we experience with communication, transportation and electronic devices. Mercury retrograde by its very nature requires us to review stuff and perhaps do it twice, which is not very compatible with the impulsive energy of the cardinal fire sign of Aries.  It can also make us more inclined to be more blunt and impolite in conversations.  Temper tantrums might be happening too. But the good thing about Aries being angry is that it tends to blow over quickly.  It's not like a Mercury in Scorpio, which tends to hold grudges. And on April 11, Mercury will be conjunct the Sun in 21 degrees of Aries, which can actually be favorable for making plans.  Mercury will be in the heart of the Sun or cazimi, as it is known.  And cazimi represents good luck, so there could very well be some opportunities presented to us on April 11.

On April 3, Venus and Neptune will be conjunct in 28 degrees of Pisces.  Venus is in its sign of exaltation and Neptune rules Pisces, so these two planets are very happy together.  It brings the potential for new romance or it can enhance the compassion and spiritual bonding in existing relationships.  But there is a shadow side to this aspect: it can make us fall in love with the ideal of love and bring major disappointments if we overidealize someone.  Venus conjunct Neptune has a tendency to blur boundaries and distort the truth. Just be careful with this one.  And people are extremely sensitive to words with this planetary alignment.  There is another perk to it, though: it can be a boon to creativity.  Hold that thought...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
