Mercury Enters Virgo for an Extended Stay and a Super Full Moon in Aquarius


 

The month of July is going out in a big way.  Save the day of July 28 because Mercury is entering the mutable earth sign of Virgo until October 4.  Yes, folks, there is yet another Mercury retrograde coming up on August 23 that lasts until September 15.  Mercury rules Virgo, as well as the sign of Gemini, so the good news is that Mercury is very comfortable in Virgo.  When Mercury is in Virgo, we tend to be more analytical, cerebral, focused, detail-oriented and perfectionist.  Mercury in Virgo is great for problem-solving. Its shadow side is that we can be a tad critical, so be mindful of that.  Virgo is a sign that likes to be of service and fix things.  When Mercury is transiting the sign of Virgo, we can work on getting answers about our health and might even try a new diet or fitness routine.

There is yet another reason we need to mark the day of July 28.  It marks the third time this past week that Pluto in Capricorn is exactly squaring the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra at 29 degrees of their respective signs. And 29 degrees is the anaretic or critical degree, so we are dealing with important stuff.  Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the Nodes of the Moon departed the fixed signs of Taurus and Scorpio on July 17, the day of the New Moon in Cancer. The first two hits occurred on July 23 and July 25.  There is a great deal of Pluto activity going on these days and it is quite literally the astrological elephant in the room.  Pluto at the end of Capricorn is all about forcing us to let go, clean up what isn't working with the structures in our lives and moving forward.  It is a planetary demolition derby that is tearing down our old world for a rebirth to occur.  And, as I have often said, rebirth ain't always pretty.  Pluto is a slow-moving planet, so while many of us might feel intense pressure to make some major changes, just accept that we do have time to make them and it is okay to take baby steps.  It's like the old saying, Rome wasn't built in a day.  But we can't ignore the need for change, either.  Pluto in Capricorn will be squaring the Nodes until early November, so use this time to figure out your next steps.  If you don't make any choices regarding transforming your life, Pluto has a way of forcing change upon us that can be downright uncomfortable.

The month of August kicks off with a Super Full Moon in 9 degrees of Aquarius on the 1st. The term Super Full Moon just means that the Moon appears closer to the Earth and it appears larger and more visible.  We actually have two Full Moons in August; the second one happens on August 30 in 7 degrees of Pisces.  August is literally a Blue Moon month because of the two Full Moons.

The Full Moon in Aquarius has themes of the head versus the heart.  Aquarius is renowned for being an intellectual sign that loves community, organizations, groups and information.  Yet the Sun in Leo is very impassioned, impulsive, focused on the self, and emotional.  We could see more people dealing with issues of mental illness during this Full Moon.  There are some very interesting aspects in place during this Full Moon.  Mercury in Virgo is opposing Saturn in 5 degrees of Pisces, indicating that there could be some control issues over communication.  But Mercury is strong in Virgo and it can help us get to the root of problems.  Mars in Virgo is also trining Jupiter in 13 degrees of Taurus on the Full Moon.  This is a very positive aspect that encourages us to fight for our beliefs and the truth.  If you have been struggling to get an accurate diagnosis regarding a health issue, this could be your lucky break.  Venus in 27 degrees of Leo is also trining the North Node in Aries, which can be very inspirational and future-oriented energy.  Just be aware that Uranus in Taurus is also opposing Venus in Leo during this Full Moon, and this can be accompanied by disruptions in relationships as well as financial volatility.  This is par for the course for a Full Moon.  Uranus in Taurus will be opposing Venus in Leo for the first half of August.  And then Uranus joins the retrograde party on August 28.  More on that later...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Lots of Planetary Action as the Sun Opposes Pluto, Venus and Chiron Station Retrograde, and the Sun Enters Leo

 










The beat goes on.  The Nodes of the Moon changed signs on July 17, the day of the New Moon in Cancer, inspiring me to tweet:
On July 21, the Sun in Cancer is opposing Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn.  When the Sun opposes Pluto, power struggles, manipulation and control issues can rear their ugly heads.  It can definitely be a crisis time in relationships as change can be forced upon us.  Try to look at it as a time to confront and release the inner compulsions that have been holding us back.  

We have a double header happening on July 22, 2023.  Venus is stationing retrograde in 28 degrees of Leo and will remain retrograde until September 3, when it stations direct in 12 degrees of Leo. Venus retrogrades approximately every 18 months, but it has not been retrograde in Leo since the summer of 2015.  I am taking this event quite personally because I have a natal Venus retrograde in Scorpio.  I fared quite well during the last Venus retrograde in Leo in 2015, but the one in 2007 was not as kind to me.  I ask all of you to reflect back on what issues you were dealing with in relationships, finances and values back then, because they just might crop up again.

With Venus retrograde in Leo, self-love is bound to be reassessed as well.  I was watching Anne Ortelee's Weekly Weather on YouTube and noted that she referred to the Summer of 2023 as the Summer of Love because Venus has been in Leo since June 5 and won't leave Leo until October 8, 2023.  Our values, finances, and relationships will come under scrutiny when Venus is retrograde in Leo.  Our creativity can also soar, as well as a desire to play.  Ex-lovers could return during Venus retrograde too.  It's possible to meet a new lover during Venus retrograde, but try not to make any major decisions about relationships or make any drastic changes in your appearance until Venus clears its retrograde shadow in early October 2023.  Have fun, which Leo loves to do, but don't make any major commitments.  Jennifer Aniston married Justin Theroux in August 2015 when Venus was retrograde in Leo and that marriage didn't work out. Venus also rules money, so be aware that you might want to spend more now.  If you have planets in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio, you will feel the effects of this Venus retrograde the most intensely.

The second act on July 22 is the Sun entering the fixed fire sign of Leo.  The Sun rules Leo, so it is very comfortable and strong in the sign of Leo.  When the Sun is in Leo, we want to have fun, enjoy life and are feeling the urge to be romantic and creative.  We can also be more generous and playful.  We want to shine and be noticed.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Leo is a tendency towards self-centered behavior and let our ego run rampant.  But it should be a welcome relief after all of the emotional angst that the Sun in Cancer brought us.

On July 23, Chiron joins the retrograde party when it stations retrograde in 19 degrees of Aries.  Chiron will be retrograde until December 26, 2023, when it stations direct in 15 degrees of Aries.  Chiron is frequently referred to as the Wounded Healer.  When Chiron is retrograde, there is a stronger focus on inner healing.  I won't sugarcoat this one, it can be painful to confront those inner child wounds but it can ultimately bring great joy.  Chiron retrograde in Aries can force us to deal with whatever blockages we have pertaining to courage and self-assertion.  If you have any planets or points around 19 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you will be feeling this one.  Personally, it exactly squares my Cancer Midheaven and opposes my natal Ascendant in Libra.

I'd like to leave you with one really sweet aspect to anticipate.  On July 27, Mercury and Venus are conjunct in 28 degrees of Leo.  It will be easier to share our feelings of love.  It is a very cooperative and diplomatic vibe, so it can be an opportune time to smooth out any misunderstandings.  It can also be a boon for creativity and finances.

A Powerful New Moon in Cancer, the Nodes Move into Aries and Libra and Mars Opposes Saturn

 




The month of July is really heating up in more ways than one.  Many people have commented recently that it feels like eclipse energy despite the fact that the next round of eclipses isn't due until October.  There is a very good reason for this: we have a New Moon in 24 degrees of Cancer on July 17 and the Nodes of the Moon are changing signs on the same day.  They are moving from Taurus and Scorpio to Aries and Libra.  The Nodes are not planets, but they are points at which the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic and will affect the eclipses for the next 18 months.  And they move backwards, so on July 17, the North Node will move into 29 degrees of Aries while the South Node will enter 29 degrees of Libra.  

The Nodes of the Moon operate on an 18.6-year cycle, which means that the last time they were in these signs was from December 26, 2004 through June 20, 2006.  You might find it helpful to think back to this period in your life, as similar issues could re-emerge.  The North Node will remain in Aries and the South Node in Libra until late January 2025.  

The North Node in Aries is calling for us to stretch out of our comfort zone and flex our muscles to find our inner authority, independence and power.  Aries is a cardinal fire sign that is fearless about moving forward, which is a big change from the fixed earth sign of Taurus that is slower and more methodical about building roots for the future.  The South Node in Libra represents karmic baggage that we need to shed to move forward in our collective destiny.  When the South Node is in Libra, we need to release the need to be people pleasers and over-compromise. It's time to ditch any codependent traits that are not serving you well. This nodal shift requires us to find our voice and express ourselves authentically.  The North Node in Aries will be transiting my 7th house and the South Node in Libra will be in my 1st house, so I have no doubt that it will impact my relationships.  The house placement of the Nodes is a good indicator of where things will change for you.  If you have your Sun at the end of Aries, the North Node in Aries will feel very karmic as it connects with your Sun and things start happening. If you don't know where the Nodes are going to hitting your chart, please consider getting an astrological reading with me.

The New Moon in 24 degrees of Cancer is exact at 2:32 p.m. on July 17.  It has a very inspirational and creative vibe because is also trining Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  New Moons are a perfect time to set new intentions by trusting our intentions.  The Moon rules the sign of Cancer, so it is right at home and we could find it easier to trust our emotions.  The New Moon is also forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus, making it easier for us to implement change in a different way. Uranus in Taurus is trining Pluto in Capricorn and sextiling Neptune in Pisces, so there is a very powerful spiritual component that assists us with our path of transformation.  But we also need to realize that the New Moon in Cancer is also opposing Pluto in Capricorn, activating the themes of death and rebirth. Pluto in Capricorn is also inconjunct Venus in Leo, which can bring some abrupt changes in wealth, passion or cause intense jealousy if we don't make some course corrections.  Pluto aspecting Neptune and Venus create a Finger of God configuration, which can be very karmic. Pluto in Capricorn is very active in this New Moon, because it is also squaring the nodal axis and will continue to square the Nodes until November 2023.  Watch the dates of July 22, 25 and 28 because the squares will be exact on those days.  

The New Moon in Cancer is involved in a Cardinal Grand Cross with the Nodes of the Moon in Aries and Libra, and Pluto in Capricorn.  I sense that there will be strong themes of nurturing, emotional security and a focus on protecting loved ones during this New Moon.  Mercury in Leo is also squaring Jupiter in 12 degrees of Taurus on the New Moon, which can bring optimism and a view of the big picture.  But we need to be mindful of the tendency to be too cocky, arrogant or promise more than we can deliver because this aspect doesn't favor paying attention to details.

On July 20, Mars in Virgo will be opposing Saturn in 6 degrees of Pisces.  I am not going to sugar coat this one, folks, because it involves endings and themes of pushing and withholding.  Saturn in Pisces can feel downright depressing and Mars in Virgo can be hyper and frenetic.  Challenging Mars-Saturn aspects are never fun but they can be productive in terms of focused and detailed work that demands caution and patience.  Otherwise, we could find ourselves dealing with a problem that has no apparent solution or we could feel like we have one foot on the accelerator and the other foot on the brake.  It can be a frustrating day, and frustration is something that Mars and Saturn combined do together.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mercury in Cancer Blesses Us with Sextile and Trines Before it Enters Leo and Mars Moves into Virgo


 

Mercury is moving pretty fast these days.  It is still in the cardinal water sign of Cancer and has a couple of blessings to bestow upon us before it enters Leo on July 11.  On July 7, Mercury in Cancer forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus.  This can bring exciting news, stimulating conversations and boatloads of inspiration.  There will be thought-provoking ideas galore to be exchanged and flashes of insight popping up.  It is a very social and psychic vibe, so don't be surprised if you are drawn to different types of people.  Trust your intuition on this day and be open to seeking out the unusual.  Sextiles are supportive because they create opportunities and with Mercury sextiling Uranus, we are seeking the unusual and will find it easier to challenge ourselves to try something new.  Mercury in Cancer is currently in my 10th house and Uranus in Taurus is in my 8th house, so I am on the lookout for ways to expand upon my work and source of income.

On July 9, Mercury in Cancer is trining Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  Creativity, imagination, sensitivity and spirituality will be flourishing and this aspect helps us to see the big picture.  It's not so great for focusing on the details, however.  It is also a time when music, the arts and literature are more enjoyable.  We can adjust our ideals so that they can become closer to the reality that we desire.

On July 11, Mercury enters the fixed fire sign of Leo for a whirlwind tour until July 28.  Mercury in Leo will energize communication with creative and dramatic ideas.  We will be thinking more confidently and craving attention to boot. Drama rules when Mercury is in the sign of Leo.  It's a very different vibe from Mercury in Cancer, which is prone to asking others how they feel.  The shadow side of Mercury in Leo is that tempers could flare and we probably won't be such great listeners.

Mars leaves Leo on July 10 and enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo, where it stays until August 27. When Mars enters Virgo it will be immediately trining the North Node in Taurus and sextiling the South Node in Scorpio.  Mars in Virgo is motivated by perfection, precision and the details count.  We want to take action to improve things when Mars is in Virgo and we aren't afraid to work hard to make it happen.  It is a slower, more grounded version of Mars than Mars in Leo.  Mars in Virgo making favorable aspects to the Nodes affords us the opportunity to let go of the past and move forward to our destiny.  Mars in Virgo has  a very down-to-business vibe, is more efficient and is a whiz at solving problems.  It's also perfect energy for tacking health issues.  But the shadow side of Mars in Virgo is a tendency to overanalyze and be too critical. Just be mindful of that while Mars is in Virgo and we should all be fine.
