The Sun Enters Aries and Mercury Goes Direct in Pisces

 

Happy Astrological New Year!  The Sun enters Aries on March 20, marking the start of another astrological new year and the first day of Spring.  With the Sun in the cardinal fire sign of Aries,

we are embarking on a high energy period which encourages us to take action, be more courageous, ambitious, spontaneous and independent.  We are also inclined to be more impulsive, impatient, enthusiastic and competitive.  We can be quite direct now too, which is a marked change from the Sun in Pisces. That mutable water energy was pretty hard to pin down.  Living in the moment is our mantra now.

Mercury is also going direct in 8 degrees of Pisces at 3:33 p.m. after having been retrograde since February 26, when it stationed retrograde in 22 degrees of Pisces.  We can start to experience more clarity, less misunderstandings and problems with transportation.  The Mercury retrograde shadow period began on February 11 and it doesn't fully clear its retrograde shadow until April 9 when it hits 22 degrees of Pisces.

This Mercury retrograde in Pisces has caused a lot of people to deal with water issues.  I had to have a drain replaced in a sink because it was leaking.  I know that other people had roofs leaking and flooding due to the weather.  Another manifestation of Mercury retrograde in Pisces is dreaming about or actually hearing from people in our past.  I have had extremely vivid dreams regarding people from my past and I have been hearing similar stories from clients too. Mercury remains in Pisces until April 14, but we should start to experience some relief.  Just be mindful that it can feel a little unsettling for 2-3 days around the station (either direct or retrograde) of a planet and we will all be fine.

The Sun in Aries is very busy during its first week.  On March 22, the Sun and Neptune are conjunct in 1 degree of Aries.  This aspect has a theme of visionary action with a proactive approach to dreams.  This is actually the first time the Sun and Neptune have been conjunct in Aries since 1862.  The United States was undergoing the Civil War back then.  We might be feeling like we are supposed to start something now.  The Sun, the planet of identity and ego, is merging with Neptune, the planet of dissolution, imagination and transcendence.  This is quite a spiritual cocktail.  In fact, our interest in the spiritual world is bound to be stimulated.  Careful planning to attain our dreams is key.

On March 25, the Sun and Saturn meet up in 4 degrees of Aries.  Be prepared to face extra responsibilities on this day.  We can feel tested and life might feel hard.  The structures in our lives will require attention.  There can also be setbacks or challenges from authority figures when the Sun and Saturn are conjunct.  But this does afford us the opportunity build more self-reliance.  And if we have been working hard, we just might get some rewards for our efforts.  I have this aspect natally in Scorpio in my chart, so I know it well.

The Sun in Aries is also forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius on March 25.  This aspect  increases our need to succeed and empowers us.  Determination and sense of purpose are strong now.  Any obsessive or compulsive tendencies that we have can be chaneled to complete challenging tasks. Energy levels will be high, as is our resilience to bounce back from adversities.  So enjoy the energy transfusion that the Sun in Aries will provide.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars Conjunct North Node in Pisces and a New Moon in Pisces

 

We have a big blast of Pisces energy still with us, despite the fact that Venus, Neptune and Saturn are in Aries.  On March 13, (Friday the 13th to boot), Mars and the North Node are conjunct in 8 degrees of Pisces.  This is big, folks, as in a karmic call to destiny.  It's time to meet your future.  Spiritual growth and compassion are motivating factors.  It's time to take some action and embark on a path to your future.  Intuition will be strong as we are drawn to pursue our soul's calling.  Trust those instincts.

Mars conjunct the North Node in Pisces can cause passions to flare, but it can also trigger confusion. so try not to act too impulsively.  Yes, it's important to take some action but try to realize that with all of this mutable water energy, including the Sun in Pisces, our emotions are quite fluid and literally all over the place.  

This day could be very emotional and intense.  Mark my words, it will have a fated quality. The last time that Mars and the North Node were conjunct in Pisces was in April 2007 in 15 degrees of Pisces.  This was a particularly challenging time for me personally.  The conjunction this time will also be happening in my 5th house, but this time around in 8 degrees of Pisces it is trining my South Node in Cancer and sextiling my North Node in Capricorn.  I am hoping for more support on this conjunction in terms of releasing the past and moving forward in a responsible way.  

The New Moon in Pisces occurs on March 18 in 28 degrees of Pisces.  A major theme of this New Moon is releasing and letting go of the past.  We are on the cusp of the astrological New Year, which begins on March 20 when the Sun enters Aries and Mercury goes direct in Pisces.  We are also processing the eclipses of February 17 in Aquarius and March 3 in Virgo. So you are not imagining it if you feel like a part of your life is coming to an end.  Our dreams will be more vivid in Pisces and our intuition is strong.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Pisces is a tendency towards deception, lies and addiction.  The desire for escapism could be rampant.

What other aspects are in play on this New Moon?  Venus in Aries is squaring Jupiter in 15 degrees of Cancer (finally direct, thank God), which is generally pleasurable, but can lead to overindulgence and unrealistic expectations in relationships.  The Sun and Moon in Pisces will be forming supportive sextiles to Uranus in 28 degrees of Taurus, which can lead to stimulating encounters, pleasant surprises, and innovations that could very well lead to our being healthier and living longer.  Don't be afraid to try something new on this day.  This New Moon in Pisces falls in my 6th house, so I am definitely open to anything that improves my health or daily routines.  Mars in Pisces is also trining Jupiter in Cancer on the New Moon, which should motivate us to act with more compassion and empathy.  Just remember that you are getting the opportunity for a fresh start in whatever area of life by house placement this New Moon occurs, so plant the seeds.

Venus Enters Aries and Jupiter Goes Direct in Cancer

 

Okay, we are still standing after last week's Mars-Uranus square which triggered the bombing of Iran, especially with Mars in Aquarius being the first planet to conjunct the Solar Eclipse in Aquarius of February 17  and this week's Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on March 3.  Now we are about to experience the movement of the two greater benefic planets Venus and Jupiter.

On March 6, 2026 Venus departs its sign of exaltation, Pisces and moves into Aries until March 30. Venus is actually considered to be in detriment in Aries (and Scorpio) because it rules Libra and Taurus, so it is not all that comfortable there.  When Venus is in Aries, there is a strong desire for excitement and a marked lack of patience.  It's all about the thrill of the chase, but the spark can fade quickly.  Spontaneity rules and we can be extremely impulsive.  This pertains to love and money. Be mindful of those two areas in life.

On March 7, Venus and Neptune are conjunct in 1 degree of Aries.  This increases our sensitivity and tendency towards daydreaming.  Fantasizing is very common with this aspect.  If you are single and meet someone new they could feel like a soulmate.  Compassion levels are high when Venus and Neptune merge. But there is also risk of disappointment if you have been in denial about the harsh realities of a toxic relationship.

The Sun and retrograde Mercury are conjunct in 17 degrees of Pisces on March 7 too.  Don't be surprised if you hear from some ghosts on that day.  It could be a friend, foe or ex-lover that reaches out to you on that day and there is the potential for something to be clarified now.  Mercury retrograde is notorious for stirring up people from our past and in the mutable water sign of sentimental Pisces, feelings can be intensified.

On March 8, Venus and Saturn are conjunct in 2 degrees of Aries.  This is a testing aspect and poses a harsh reality check.  Distance, separation and an inability to connect on a meaningful level are all possible manifestations.  Relationships as well as finances could be affected.  But if you do meet someone now it could be someone much older or the relationships could have a very karmic undertone.

Jupiter is finally going direct in 15 degrees of Cancer on March 10.  Jupiter has been retrograde since November 11, 2025 when it backtracked in 25 degrees of Cancer.  I have my natal Jupiter in Cancer, as well as my South Node, Midheaven and Uranus, so I have been feeling particularly frustrated in the luck and expansion department.  But this is definitely a day to rejoice because we can feel freer to act on our emotional intelligence.  Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer but when it was retrograde it wasn't operating at full strength.  We could have felt held back emotionally or in matters pertaining to our home lives.  Now we have a cosmic green light to act on projects that nurture our soul.  The planet of luck, faith and optimism is back on track and will continue its transit in Cancer until June 30.  

Both Venus and Jupiter are in cardinal signs now, so we are definitely up for initiating some action.  Hopefully we all will feel a boost of energy to get moving in a positive direction.
