Venus Moves into Taurus, Mars and Jupiter Meet up in Aries and a New Moon in Gemini

 

The month of May is definitely going out on a high note with Venus moving into its happy place in Taurus on May 28, Mars and Jupiter hooking up in Aries on the 29th and a New Moon in Gemini on the 30th.

Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, so when it is transiting either of these signs it tends to be a happy camper.  Venus enters Taurus on the 28th and stays there until June 22.  When Venus is in Taurus, it is sensual and  has a more grounded, nurturing and kinder presence than its predecessor, Venus in Aries.  It is a bit more deliberate and focused on security and possessions.  Managing money becomes very important now but the shadow side of Venus in Taurus is that we can find ourselves becoming excessively possessive.  But we should be able to enjoy ourselves more and include others in our orbit.

On the following day, May 29, Mars and Jupiter are conjunct in 3 degrees of Aries.  Mars and Jupiter are only conjunct every two years and the last time this aspect occurred it was on 23 degrees of Capricorn on March 20, 2020.  Of course, this linked up with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn on January 12, 2020 which set off the current pandemic.  Dare we hope that we are coming to a time when there is light at the end of this long dark tunnel we have been traveling through since then?  Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and loves to initiate new beginnings.  Jupiter entered Aries on May 10 and Mars burst into Aries on May 24.  On that day I tweeted:

Unfortunately, I don't think that any of us anticipated that Mars entering Aries would play out in the Robb Elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that took 21 lives on May 24. This is definitely the worst possible manifestation of Mars in Aries energy.  I am fervently hoping that the upcoming Mars and Jupiter conjunction in Aries leads to some positive and constructive gun control legislation. As President Biden said, it's time to turn this pain into action.  Thoughts, prayers and condolences just aren't cutting it anymore.

When Mars and Jupiter are hooking up in Aries, we have an extremely lucky and fortunate combination.  It's a time to think big and take even bigger action by channeling our drive and focus on what we want.  I am sure that many of us have been feeling impatient and chomping at the bit to move forward.  Just remember that Mars is about our desires and Jupiter expands whatever it touches, so be sure to utilize this potent aspect.

And, ta-da, on May 30, we have a really juicy New Moon in 9 degrees of Gemini.  This one has a strong mental focus because Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which is still retrograde, but in Taurus right now.  Mercury re-entered Taurus on May 22 and it will be in 26 degrees of Taurus on June 3 when it stations direct.  Mercury in 26 degrees of Taurus will be squaring Saturn in 25 degrees of Aquarius on the New Moon, which can deliver a major reality check to us.  It's quite possible that we could be hearing about difficult issues that make us uncomfortable.  And with Saturn in the mix, there could be issues of control surrounding all of this communication that is circulating.  Saturn in Aquarius is also squaring the North Node in Taurus and the South Node in Scorpio, so we are really feeling the pull to break free of the past and move forward. Social media will be abuzz and there is also the potential for cyberattacks.  

This New Moon in Gemini is a perfect opportunity to set some new intentions and become more conscious of our thinking process.  Uranus in 16 degrees of Taurus is conjunct the North Node in 21 degrees of Taurus and both are conjunct Mercury in 26 degrees of Taurus.  This pile-up in Taurus provides the opportunity for new ideas, insights and thinking for our collective destiny in the areas of food, agriculture and finances. Uranus and Mercury in Taurus opposing the South Node in Scorpio is also urging us to let go of whatever is no longer serving us so that we can embrace our future.  It is also a very creative day because Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Mercury in Taurus.  Don't forget that the sign of Gemini loves gossip and can be very chameleon-like and mentally agile.  It is the sign of duality and don't be surprised if you find yourself needing to make some choices on this New Moon.  I was watching Penny Thornton's video this week on the New Moon and was inspired by what she said about the similarities between Gemini and Scorpio: they are both signs that you either love or hate and can travel into the darkness without being harmed.  This resonated for me because I am a Scorpio with a Gemini Moon in my 8th house.  You can't get much darker than the 8th house, but I am really excited about the potential for this New Moon in Gemini because it is conjunct my natal Moon and I am really looking forward to a fresh start.  I sense that this New Moon can bring chances for emotional healing as well because it is forming a supportive sextile to Chiron in Aries.  And whatever we embark on during this New Moon in Gemini will come up for review on December 8 with the Full Moon in 16 degrees of Gemini.  That is certainly food for thought...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Prepare for Some Action as the Sun Moves into Gemini and Mars Enters Aries

 

Get ready for some action, folks because the planets are once again on the move.  We are still in the midst of Mercury retrograde and we have just come out of an especially intense Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 16, when I tweeted:

The Sun is leaving the fixed earth sign of Taurus on May 20 and entering the mutable air sign of Gemini.  Relief is in sight as we are motivated to become more communicative, knowledgeable and  versatile (hello multi-tasking). We are opening up to new ideas and mental activities.  Quite literally, having the Sun in Gemini is a breath of fresh air.  Having a finger in every pot and being able to go with the flow is the new normal.  When the Sun is in a mutable sign, we find it easier to embrace change and new perspectives. Just remember that the shadow side of the Sun in Gemini is a tendency to be a bit scattered and we will be fine.

As I mentioned Mercury is still retrograde until June 3, but it back pedals into Taurus on May 22 and it will station direct in 26 degrees of Taurus on June 3.  Mercury will leave Taurus on June 13.  Until then, we should use this time to focus on practical matters by reviewing them with a sense of purpose.  Go over the fine details because there might be something that we missed when Mercury was previously galloping through Taurus in April 2022.  We can be more focused with Mercury in Taurus, but be mindful not to be too stubborn or rigid. It's no coincidence that the symbol for Taurus is a Bull...

We have another astrological event occurring on May 22 which is highly significant.  Mars in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn. This is a real go-getter aspect as it bestows us with the energy to achieve our goals as well as the courage to tackle projects that we once might have deemed too much to handle.  It gives us more perseverance and can even amplify our physical and sexual energy.  This is a high-octane day, so make the most of it.  

On May 24, Mars departs Pisces and enters its home sign of Aries until July 5.  Mars is a very happy camper in Aries and is feeling at ease. Mars in Aries can bring us some optimism and a sense of power. Its energy is spontaneous, forward-looking and more courageous.  Don't forget that Mars is the planet that drives us to pursue our passions and it is a warrior.  So if you have been feeling stuck or drowning in your emotions, Mars in the cardinal fire sign of Aries will get you moving pronto.  But just keep in mind that Mars in Aries is also impatient, impulsive and can be self-centered.  Tempers could flare, but the storms will probably blow over quickly.  The main thing to remember with Mars in Aries is that we will feel compelled to move forward and making progress is a good thing.

A Game-Changing Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

 

Fasten your seat belts because we are in for a bumpy ride on May 16 with a Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse in 25 degrees of Scorpio.  This is the second eclipse of 2022 (the first occurred on April 30 in 10 degrees of Taurus) and it is big because it is a Super Moon due to the Moon being so close to the earth that it appears red.  And it is in Scorpio, which is a deeply emotional water sign which only adds to the theme of Lunar Eclipses functioning like full moons on steroids.  A Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio will also have themes of power, control, purging and the potential for betrayal of trust thrown into the mix.

This is a South Node eclipse to boot, which has a strong emphasis on releasing the past.  Eclipses are either North or South Node eclipses.  North Node eclipses tend to propel us into the future while South Node eclipses help us to release the past. This one is conjunct the South Node in 22 degrees of Scorpio and we could literally feel like we are being guided to close the door on a chapter in our lives.  Just remember that if something ends in our life now as a result of this eclipse triggering a cycle of completion, we are being taken to where our soul needs to be.  The fact that it is in Scorpio indicates that we might feel a strong need to retreat as we seek to transform ourselves.  We could be shedding some layers of skin in the process, but don't forget that Scorpio is also associated with the Phoenix, which can literally rise from the ashes as it taps into its inner strength and power to rebirth itself.  If you are old enough, you might want to think back to May 16, 2003 when we had a Lunar Eclipse in 24 degrees of Scorpio.  Are there any similar issues in your life now that compare to that period of time?  And the effects of Lunar Eclipses can be felt for up to six weeks before and after they occur.

What does the astrological landscape look like for this eclipse?  For starters, speaking of the power theme, we could literally be stepping into our power with that Full Moon in 25 degrees forming a supportive sextile to Scorpio's ruling planet Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn.  The Scorpio Moon is also forming a wide opposition to Uranus in 15 degrees of Taurus, which contributes themes of volatility, change, excitability and a desire for freedom.  The Full Moon is also squaring Saturn in 24 degrees of Aquarius, which is sure to add notes of sadness and depression to the day.  It's also a great deal of fixed energy, which can make us resistant to the change we all need to make.  it's hard to change the structure of your life and the pandemic has reinforced that theme in the past two years.

But there is definitely hope available to us during this eclipse.  Jupiter recently entered the sign of Aries on May 10 and it will be forming a supportive sextile to Mercury in 4 degrees of Gemini, so our thinking for the future can be big. On May 10, I tweeted about Jupiter entering Aries for the first time in twelve years:

Jupiter in Aries is all about being a hero and a warrior.  We will all have an urge to take some kind of action while Jupiter is in the sign of Aries.  It's a little dicey that Jupiter is sextiling a retrograde Mercury, but we can always revise those plans in the future.  Mercury happened to station retrograde on the same day that Jupiter entered Aries, so it's not exactly a coincidence that these two planets are factoring into this eclipse.

Mars in 22 degrees of Pisces is also a major player in this Lunar Eclipse.  It sextiles the North Node in 22 degrees of Taurus, which can be a big boost to making progress in leaving the past behind.  Mars is also conjunct Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces.  This conjunction is exact on May 18 when Mars hits 24 degrees of Pisces.  Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces can play out in a myriad of ways: it can inspire compassionate and spiritual action which leads to miracles or it can result in chaos and confusion. You never know how Neptune is going to manifest.  I would think it is safe to surmise that there will be some big emotional reveals either way.  Let's hope that the shadow side of Neptune with its deception is not too active.  And we need to be mindful of the fact that sometimes chaos is necessary for rebirth to occur.  

I am taking this eclipse quite personally because it is heavily impacting my natal chart.  It is conjunct my Sun, Venus, and Ceres in Scorpio, squaring my Pluto in Leo and trining my Midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer.  It is also sextiling my Chiron in Capricorn, so here's to the healing part of it...

For the history buffs, I'd like to remind you that this Lunar Eclipse is a mirror of the Lunar Eclipse that occurred on November 19, 2021 in 27 degrees of Taurus.  Think back to what was going on in your life then and see if anything is similar to back then or is ending.  Our next Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse will happen on November 8, 2022 in 16 degrees of Taurus, which should see a continuation of themes that will be set in motion during the May 16 Lunar Eclipse.  And that eclipse is also the day of mid-term elections in the United States.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mercury Retrogrades in Gemini and Jupiter Moves into Aries

 

We might be in the week between eclipses but there is still quite a bit of celestial action going on.  May 10 is a big day because of two major events: Mercury stations retrograde in Gemini and Jupiter moves into Aries.

Mercury is first up when it stations retrograde in 4 degrees of Gemini at 7:47 a.m. on May 10.  Mercury retrograde is notorious for its snafus and delays in communication and transportation.  Its effects could be exacerbated this time because it is occurring right smack in the middle of eclipse season (we had a Solar Eclipse in Taurus on April 30 and there is an upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 16) and it starts out in Gemini, one of the signs that Mercury rules. So it will be an intense Mercury retrograde with probably even more mental fogginess than unusual.  When Mercury is retrograde, it is advisable to allow extra time to get to our destination, slow down, review and reflect on the past.  Back up your computers and try not to purchase any new electronics unless absolutely necessary.  

If you can avoid taking a new job during Mercury retrograde, by all means do so.  I have heard from countless clients and friends over the years that when they started a job under Mercury retrograde, they lived to regret it because the position was not as it was represented.  The only exception to this is if you are accepting a job with a previous employer.

What is the timeline for this Mercury retrograde?  Well, Mercury is moving back into Taurus on May 22 and it will station direct on June 3 in 26 degrees of Taurus.  At least with Mercury retrograde in Taurus, we will be inclined to be somewhat more practical and rational. Mercury will re-enter Gemini on June 13 and will remain in Gemini until July 5.  But if like me, you are a believer in the Mercury retrograde shadow period, it began on April 26 in 26 degrees of Taurus (just in time for that Solar Eclipse) and it leaves the shadow period on June 18 in 4 degrees of Gemini. So you can actually feel the effects of Mercury retrograde before and after the official dates.  Just warning you...

Jupiter has been zipping right along through Pisces since December 28, 2021, one of its favorite signs. It had a brief run in Pisces previously from May 13, 2001 through July 28, 2021.  Jupiter will return to Pisces on October 28, 2022 until December 2022.  But on May 10, Jupiter moves into Aries at 7:22 p.m.  Jupiter has a twelve-year cycle and the last time Jupiter was in Aries was June through September 2010 and January through June 2011.  I don't know about you, but I was experiencing massive changes in my life back then.

When Jupiter is in Aries, we can literally feel like our inner warrior is expanding as it boosts our confidence and motivation.  We are bound to be feeling more independent and taking bigger risks.  It's a time to go for your dreams and tackle difficult decisions with bravery.  Aries is the sign that likes to be first and lead the say, so it a perfect opportunity to launch entrepreneurial ventures and get a fresh start.  Jupiter will station retrograde in 8 degrees of Aries on July 22, 2022 and stations direct in 28 degrees of Pisces on November 23, 2022.  Jupiter returns to the sign of Aries on December 20, 2022 through May 16, 2023.

Jupiter in Aries is a real go-getter because it is cardinal fire.  I just want to mention here that many of my clients have said that they never reaped the benefits of Jupiter transits and the reason is that Jupiter requires you to take action and seize the moment.  A Jupiter Return, for example, differs from a Saturn Return, because Saturn usually places some kind of external limitation on you while Jupiter will only expand your life if you are brave enough to go after what you want.  In short, if you snooze, you lose when it comes to Jupiter transits.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish all of the mothers out there a Happy Mother's Day on May 8.  The Moon is in Leo on that day and it is making a few harsh aspects: a square to the Sun in 17 degrees of Taurus, a square to Uranus in 15 degrees of Taurus and an irritating inconjunct to Mars in 17 degrees of Pisces.  This means that the air is rife with potential for arguments, sudden disruptions and hurt feelings.  But the saving grace aspect of the day is the Moon in Leo trining Chiron in 14 degrees of Aries.  So it's possible to heal old emotional wounds and I urge everyone to make whatever effort is required to do so.
