Venus in Cancer Frolics with Uranus in Taurus and the Sun in Gemini Has a Run-in with Saturn in Pisces

 

We are starting off the weekend on a very upbeat and high note on May 26 when Venus in Cancer is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Sextile are easy, flowing aspects that tend to bring opportunities.  Venus and Uranus in this configuration is likely to bring unexpected romance or money. Creativity is also likely to flourish with these two planets frolicking together.  By all means, be open to new possibilities and break up old routines.  Uranus does love to shake things up.  This is an extremely social aspect, so make sure to get out there and socialize.  Don't be afraid of networking, either because not only is there potential for meeting a romantic partner, there is also the chance to meet someone who will benefit you financially.  Sextiles do create opportunities, but you do have to act on them and not let them just breeze by.  It's a classic case of if you snooze, you lose.

Venus in Cancer is exactly conjunct my Cancer Midheaven and Scorpio Sun,  so I am looking forward to whatever opportunities come my way.  Of course, Uranus in Taurus is exactly opposing my Sun, so I am sure that whatever transpires it will come as a complete surprise.  I have to confess that having Uranus opposing your Sun is not the easiest of transits as your life is turned upside down, but I am grateful for the fact that Venus, one of the benefic planets (Jupiter is the other one) is smiling down on me and giving me a break.  And Uranus in Taurus will be sextiling my Midheaven at the same time.  That is pretty sweet, in my book.

But things get a little more serious on May 28 when the Sun in Gemini is squaring Saturn in 6 degrees of Pisces. When the Sun and Saturn get together in a challenging aspect, we can expect tests of character, challenges, pressures and we might wind up feeling depressed and pessimistic.  Excessive responsibilities could crop up too. It can seem like a very restrictive time and the best way to deal with this energy is to accept our limitations.  We need to do the work to build strong foundations.  Saturn has a tendency to be judgmental too, so try not to be too critical.  I know, that is easier said than done.  I have a Sun-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio, so I know all too well what these two planets can wreak.  

Meanwhile, we are still dealing with the Fixed Grand Cross involving Jupiter in Taurus, Mars in Leo, Pluto in Aquarius and the North Node in Taurus with the South Node in Scorpio.  I hate to break it to you, folks, but this will be in place until mid-June.  So, if you have any planets or points like Ascendant or Midheaven in 0-3 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, be prepared for a bumpy ride.  On May 26 and 27, we have Mars in Leo squaring the Nodes in 3 degrees of their respective signs and Pluto in Aquarius squaring the Nodes.  This will probably manifest as feeling stuck and wanting to move forward, while simultaneously experiencing fear about moving forward.  Pluto is prodding us to purge what we don't need and Mars in Leo will provide us with the courage to do something.  Either walk away from a situation for do something completely different.  The important thing to remember is not to react negatively.  And remember that squares to the Nodes do have a perk: they can be very motivating.  Mars in Leo squaring the South Node in Scorpio can energize us to let go of what is no longer working in our lives while its square to the North Node in Taurus can help us take a calculated risk. Jupiter in Taurus is conjunct the North Node, so it can be a real journey and feeling of momentum if we have done the work.  The key lesson here is to finish up what we need to do in order to clear the decks for the new life that we want to create.  The emphasis in our collective soul path will shift dramatically on July 18 when the Nodes move into Aries and Libra.  The North Node in Aries for the next 18 months will infuse us with a jolt of courage and initiative to make things happen.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Pluto is Calling the Shots with a Fixed T-Square as We Face a New Moon in Taurus, Mars Entering Leo and the Sun Moves into Gemini

 

Pluto in Aquarius is really flexing its muscles these days. Pluto is like the Roto-Rooter planet of the zodiac in that it forces us to dredge up what needs to be purged for rebirth. Jupiter just entered Taurus on May 16 and on May 17 it formed a challenging square to Pluto in Aquarius.  On that day I tweeted:

The first aspect that Jupiter in Taurus makes is a square to Pluto in Aquarius today. We want rebirth and change but can become obsessive and fanatical about it. It can be uncomfortable. #astrology

On May 19, we have New Moon in 28 degrees of Taurus.  A New Moon in Taurus has themes of shining light on our material possessions, comfort and sense of security.  We should definitely be setting new intentions in these areas of our life.  Saturn in Pisces is forming an exact sextile to Mercury in 6 degrees of Taurus, which is a boost for making plans for the future.  The New Moon is also forming a supportive sextile to Mars in 29 degrees of Cancer, helping us to find the courage to act on those intentions.  But the New Moon in 28 degrees of Taurus is also forming an out-of-sign trine to Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  This can have a very empowering vibe.  Overall, this New Moon can be quite favorable.  The shadow side of this New Moon is that we might have a tendency to overspend or overindulge in unhealthy habits.  Just be mindful of that...

The plot thickens on May 20 when Mars enters Leo, where it stays until July 10. Mars in the fixed fire sign of Leo will give us more confidence, creativity and foster our leadership skills.  But on that same day Mars in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius.  This can be very nasty and is definitely war-like energy.  We can find ourselves being very angry and reactive.  If anyone has natal Mars-Pluto aspects, they know how triggering it can be.

Mars in Leo also comprises a fixed T-square along with Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius.  A T-square occurs when two planets are opposing each other and they square a third planet, which is the focal or apex point.  So we have Mars in 0 degrees of Leo opposing Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius and they both square Jupiter in 0 degrees of Taurus.  The opposition creates a confrontational nature and a need to balance relationship patterns.  The square represents obstacles we must face in order to make progress.  This is a fixed T-square, so it feels like stuck energy.  Jupiter is the focal planet, and it represents growth and expansion, while Pluto is associated with power and transformation.  And Mars is all about taking action on our desires, but it can also bring conflict.  So this is a pretty heady mix.  

On May 23, Mars in Leo will be forming an exact square to Jupiter in 1 degree of Taurus.  This is a very explosive vibe but it does provide us with the energy to start new projects and take risks.  It's also very impulsive energy.  We need to be mindful not to attack others.  There can be a tendency to burn out and experience physical or emotional exhaustion.

If you factor in the Nodes of the Moon, we also have a Grand Fixed Cross.  The North Node of the Moon is currently in 3 degrees of Taurus and the South Node of the Moon is in 3 degrees of Scorpio.  This gives us four planets or points squaring each other and it creates major tension and turmoil.  My motto is to never overlook the Nodes.  They are extremely important in terms of where we are going (North Node) and where we have been (South Node). When I first started studying astrology, I thought that the most difficult aspect that I had in my chart was my Mars in Aquarius squaring Saturn in Scorpio.  Of course, back then, I was undergoing my first Saturn Return and I was not very happy with the planet Saturn.  

When I started studying the Nodes, I realized that the most difficult and challenging piece of my chart was my North Node in Capricorn.  The North Node represents what our soul is trying to achieve, and it can feel like an uphill journey because it goes against the grain of your South Node, which is second nature to us. My South Node is in Cancer, which can make me very emotional and wanting to take care of people.  Yet a North Node in Capricorn is about setting goals and achieving them.  The trick is to balance achieving your goals with your home life. I remember reading a book by Michael Lutin about the Nodes years ago when he described a scenario with the North Node in Capricorn individual: they are on stage getting an award for their achievements when they get a phone call about a family emergency.  Did that one ever resonate for me! If you have any fixed planets or points like your Ascendant or Midheaven in 0-3 degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio, you will be feeling the effects of this T-square and Grand Cross big time.  I should know, because I have my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio.  I am definitely feeling the effects of Pluto squaring my Mercury and Jupiter opposing it.  And now Mars in Leo will be squaring it, which should make me even more irritable. I also have a Yod in my chart involving my Moon in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio and North Node in Capricorn.  A Yod has a way of making one feel "why does this always happen to me?"

On May 21, the Sun leaves Taurus and enters the mutable air sign of Gemini.  When the Sun is in Gemini, we tend to focus on socializing, networking and craving communication that is intellectually stimulating.  Gemini is also a sign associated with choices and variety, so its shadow side can involve making too many commitments and spreading ourselves too thin.   But the Sun in Gemini does form a delightful trine to Pluto in Aquarius on that day, so we have a sense of empowerment in our energy for transforming our future.

Mercury Goes Direct and Jupiter Enters Taurus

 

The second half of May is starting to look more promising than the first half.  We have survived a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 5 and an anxious Sun-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on May 9, when I tweeted:

The major aspect of today is the conjunction between the Sun and Uranus in Taurus. It will trigger the effects of the recent Lunar Eclipse. We can expect to feel restless, crave change and experience financial upheavals. #astrology

The good news literally arrives on May 14 when Mercury stations direct in 5 degrees of Taurus with a collective sigh of relief.  Mercury stationed retrograde in 15 degrees of Taurus on April 21, which means that it wreaked havoc with both the Solar Eclipse on April 20 and the Lunar Eclipse on May 5.  Taurus is a sign associated with money, and I can tell you from personal experience that it has caused me quite a few problems with merchants overcharging me and I have heard from friends and clients that they have had money problems too.  

Mercury will remain in its retrograde shadow until May 31 when it hits 15 degrees of Taurus.  We will be totally free by then because it will have cleared its shadow by then.  Never underestimate the power of the retrograde shadow.  We should start to feel some relief on May 14 when Mercury reverses course.  I have been telling clients to try to wait at least a couple of days before doing anything involving signing contracts, pursuing legal matters or purchasing cars or electronic devices.  The bottom line is that relief is in sight and Mercury stations direct on Mother's Day, so you have no excuse to forget Mom on her special day. 

On May 15, we have a delightful aspect occurring in the form of a trine between Mars in Cancer and Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  This will stimulate our creativity and passion.  Sex can take on a very transcendent vibe.  We could be fighting for those we love in a compassionate manner and be quite the spiritual warrior.  This is also a very beneficial influence for charitable work.  Mars will be conjunct my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house, so I am looking forward to it.

The next major event is Jupiter entering Taurus on May 16.  Jupiter stays in Taurus until May 25, 2024.  Jupiter has a 12-year cycle, so this is a big deal.  Jupiter had a rather erratic, bifurcated transit in Aries.  It first entered Aries on May 10, 2022 and then slipped back into Pisces on October 28, 2022.  It re-entered Aries on December 20, 2022.  Jupiter in Aries likes to create its luck by being impulsive and initiating action; it is cardinal fire, after all. The last time Jupiter was in Aries was in 2010 and 2011: June 6, 2010 through September 10, 2010 and from January 22, 2011 through June 4, 2011. The last time Jupiter was in Taurus was from June 4, 2011 through June 11, 2012.

Jupiter in Taurus is a fixed earth sign and it tends to create good fortune and luck through practical realism.  Patience is a handy tool when Jupiter is in Taurus.  We tend to delight in sensual pleasures and the good life.  Profits and possessions are more important to us.  Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, so it also pertains to finances.  There can definitely be opportunities for expansion, growth and joy in whatever area of life it is transiting.  Jupiter in Taurus starts out in my 7th house, enters my 8th house in late August, winds up back in my 7th house in mid-September and finally re-enters my 8th house in late March 2024.   Self-worth is very important to us when Jupiter is in Taurus; hard work and determination can really generate good luck for us if we apply ourselves.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Jupiter in Taurus is a potential for overindulgence.

You might want to think back to 2011 and 2012 to see if there are any similar issues cropping up in your life now.  I am a big believer in learning from history.  Jupiter was also in Taurus from May 17, 1940 through May 26, 1941 and that period ushered in World War II.  I certainly hope that we don't wind up in another major war, but there were leaders back then who led the world on a very dark and destructive path.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Powerful Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio That Asks Us to Let Go and Venus Enters Cancer

 

This is it, folks - the big one is here.  At 1:34 p.m. on May 5, 2023, we have a Lunar Eclipse in 14 degrees of Scorpio. Lunar Eclipses tend to have themes of closure and completion and Scorpio is one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac.  Lunar eclipses are like Full Moons on steroids, so this is definitely a highly emotional time. Scorpio is also the most pessimistic of the water signs and tends to involve the past, the underworld and getting in touch with our inner demons.  Additionally, Scorpio is associated with secrets and scandals too.  And don't forget that Scorpio is also the sign of other people's money, so I wouldn't rule out the potential for some financial upheaval, especially with the Full Moon opposing Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  The Full Moon is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 9 degrees of Taurus, which adds to the volatile news that circulates.

Another key theme with this Lunar Eclipse is surrender.  Many of us could find ourselves having to let go of whatever is not working in our lives.  Emotional release will be required. Eclipses are wild cards and we can never totally predict how they will play out.  The fact that Uranus in Taurus is opposing the Full Moon only serves to reinforce this.  Yes, we are entitled to have our intentions, but with an eclipse in Scorpio, we really need to let go of how we will get our needs met.  Try not to control how it manifests and trust that it will happen the way it is meant to.

We do have one particularly positive aspect on this Lunar Eclipse.  Venus in Gemini is exactly sextiling Jupiter in 27 degrees of Aries.  This aspect can create opportunities for luck, socializing and loving feelings.  It can also benefit us financially.  Just be mindful of a tendency towards excess with this one as Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches.  And Mars in 21 degrees of Cancer is trining Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces, which is also quite favorable.  It can help us act on our spiritual urges in a practical way.

I am heavily impacted by this eclipse.  There is no way that I am escaping its effects. The Full Moon in Scorpio falls at the end of my 1st house and is conjunct my Saturn in the 1st house, my Sun in the 2nd house and squares my Mars in Aquarius in the 4th house.  I have been dealing with feelings of anger and frustration for some time now, and it could very well erupt on this eclipse.  How could it not when both the Sun and Moon are squaring my Mars in Aquarius? Anyone who has planets in the mid-degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will be taking some kind of hit from this eclipse.  You will feel its effects big time.  Some of you might have already started to feel it and it helps to know that its effects can linger for up to six weeks after the eclipse.

Venus departs the mutable sign of Gemini on May 7 to enter the cardinal water sign of Cancer.  It stays in Cancer until June 5.  Venus is very comfortable in Cancer and is more nurturing. Emotional security becomes more important to us and we are capable of achieving greater intimacy in relationships.  But right out of the gate, Venus in Cancer has a run-in with Pluto in Aquarius when it forms an irritating inconjunct to the planet associated with power and transformation.  Don't be surprised if a bout of defensiveness occurs.  When Venus is in Cancer, we tend to feel more vulnerable, sensitive and moody.

On May 9, the Sun and Uranus are exactly conjunct in 18 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can deliver unsettling events and breakthroughs.  There could be flashes of insight as we continue to process the changes that transpired during the eclipse.  And the Sun conjunct Uranus can also generate a lot of nervous energy.
