Mercury Goes Direct and Jupiter Enters Taurus

 

The second half of May is starting to look more promising than the first half.  We have survived a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 5 and an anxious Sun-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on May 9, when I tweeted:

The major aspect of today is the conjunction between the Sun and Uranus in Taurus. It will trigger the effects of the recent Lunar Eclipse. We can expect to feel restless, crave change and experience financial upheavals. #astrology

The good news literally arrives on May 14 when Mercury stations direct in 5 degrees of Taurus with a collective sigh of relief.  Mercury stationed retrograde in 15 degrees of Taurus on April 21, which means that it wreaked havoc with both the Solar Eclipse on April 20 and the Lunar Eclipse on May 5.  Taurus is a sign associated with money, and I can tell you from personal experience that it has caused me quite a few problems with merchants overcharging me and I have heard from friends and clients that they have had money problems too.  

Mercury will remain in its retrograde shadow until May 31 when it hits 15 degrees of Taurus.  We will be totally free by then because it will have cleared its shadow by then.  Never underestimate the power of the retrograde shadow.  We should start to feel some relief on May 14 when Mercury reverses course.  I have been telling clients to try to wait at least a couple of days before doing anything involving signing contracts, pursuing legal matters or purchasing cars or electronic devices.  The bottom line is that relief is in sight and Mercury stations direct on Mother's Day, so you have no excuse to forget Mom on her special day. 

On May 15, we have a delightful aspect occurring in the form of a trine between Mars in Cancer and Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  This will stimulate our creativity and passion.  Sex can take on a very transcendent vibe.  We could be fighting for those we love in a compassionate manner and be quite the spiritual warrior.  This is also a very beneficial influence for charitable work.  Mars will be conjunct my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house, so I am looking forward to it.

The next major event is Jupiter entering Taurus on May 16.  Jupiter stays in Taurus until May 25, 2024.  Jupiter has a 12-year cycle, so this is a big deal.  Jupiter had a rather erratic, bifurcated transit in Aries.  It first entered Aries on May 10, 2022 and then slipped back into Pisces on October 28, 2022.  It re-entered Aries on December 20, 2022.  Jupiter in Aries likes to create its luck by being impulsive and initiating action; it is cardinal fire, after all. The last time Jupiter was in Aries was in 2010 and 2011: June 6, 2010 through September 10, 2010 and from January 22, 2011 through June 4, 2011. The last time Jupiter was in Taurus was from June 4, 2011 through June 11, 2012.

Jupiter in Taurus is a fixed earth sign and it tends to create good fortune and luck through practical realism.  Patience is a handy tool when Jupiter is in Taurus.  We tend to delight in sensual pleasures and the good life.  Profits and possessions are more important to us.  Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, so it also pertains to finances.  There can definitely be opportunities for expansion, growth and joy in whatever area of life it is transiting.  Jupiter in Taurus starts out in my 7th house, enters my 8th house in late August, winds up back in my 7th house in mid-September and finally re-enters my 8th house in late March 2024.   Self-worth is very important to us when Jupiter is in Taurus; hard work and determination can really generate good luck for us if we apply ourselves.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Jupiter in Taurus is a potential for overindulgence.

You might want to think back to 2011 and 2012 to see if there are any similar issues cropping up in your life now.  I am a big believer in learning from history.  Jupiter was also in Taurus from May 17, 1940 through May 26, 1941 and that period ushered in World War II.  I certainly hope that we don't wind up in another major war, but there were leaders back then who led the world on a very dark and destructive path.

The very first aspect that Jupiter in Taurus makes is a challenging square to Pluto in Aquarius on May 17.  This has a very fanatic vibe.  We want success but there is a predisposition to becoming obsessive and compulsive in our quest for success.  Power struggles are possible.  Jupiter inherently wants abundance and it is clashing with Pluto's need for rebirth.  Both of these planets are in fixed signs (Taurus and Aquarius), so there is a great deal of stubborn energy present.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
