Chiron Retrogrades and Mercury Has a Challenging Encounter with Pluto

It was quite an intense and true to form Full Moon in Capricorn on July 21, when I posted:

The United States and the world heard the news that President Joseph Biden was withdrawing from the race for President on that day. I swear, astrology really called the shots on this one. A second Full Moon in Capricorn saw the end of one elected official's quest for reelection and marked the beginning of the end of his many years of public service. I also find it supremely ironic that the Democratic National Convention will start on August 19, when we have another Full Moon, this time in Aquarius.  What will be revealed then?  Let's not forget that Uranus is the ruling planet of Aquarius.

But things are happening at warped speed these days and there is a great deal of divisiveness and hurt feelings in the United States.  Wounds need to be addressed and healing needs to happen. And this brings me to the topic of this week's post.

Save the date of July 26 because we have two major astrological events occurring.  Chiron, aka the Wounded Healer, stations retrograde in 23 degrees of Aries at 9:59 a.m. and it remains retrograde until December 29, 2024 when it stations direct in 19 degrees of Aries.  Chiron has been in 23 degrees of Aries since late June, so I am sure that many of us have been feeling its effects as it has slowed down.  Chiron is joining Pluto, Saturn, Ceres and Neptune in the retrograde party.  And in August we get to experience another Mercury retrograde.  But more on that in next week's post...

Chiron does its retrograde trip every year at this time.  The themes associated with Chiron retrograde involve getting in touch with our old wounds so that healing can happen and old habits can be broken. Chiron in Aries pertains to whatever wounds we have regarding our identity, self-assertion and independence.  Chiron has been in Aries since 2019 and will leave in 2027. The retrograde period affords us the opportunity to relive old wounds, which are probably akin to battle scars now. The most important thing to remember is that we need to allow ourselves to feel the pain in order to process these wounds.  This is quite literally a soul retrieval time.  Many of my clients and friends tell me that they feel the need to cry more these days. This is something that we should do as part of the healing process. Don't be surprised if a physical illness occurs during Chiron retrograde because this can be a painful, stressful time.  And stress often leads to illness.

How will Chiron retrograde affect you? It depends on where it will be falling in your chart.  Chiron stations retrograde in 23 degrees of Aries and that is in my 7th house exactly opposing my Juno in Libra in my 1st house.  And it is also opposing my Neptune in Libra in my 1st house while squaring my Chiron in Capricorn in my 4th house. I have been feeling its effects already in a very profound manner as I am forced to deal with old emotional wounds.  And when Chiron stations direct in 19 degrees of Aries, it will be exactly squaring my Cancer Midheaven.  The bottom line is that if you have any planets or points (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven and/or Nodes) in 19-23 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will be undergoing your own personal soul retrieval in the next five months.

We do get something of a break with this Chiron retrograde on July 30 when Venus in Leo is trining Chiron in Aries.  Trines are easy flowing aspects that facilitate the energy between the two planets.  This can be very beneficial for relationships, so make the most of this day.  It's quite possible to heal longstanding wounds in relationships if we make the effort.

The other major aspect that occurs on July 26 is when Mercury in Virgo is inconjunct or quincunx Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  Inconjuncts are challenging aspects that are downright uncomfortable and irritating.  Mercury inconjunct Pluto is bound to trigger some conflict and generate serious, intense thoughts accompanied by curiosity, obsession, and stubbornness.  It can also bring out a dark sense of humor.  The two planets are five signs apart and are in different elements and modalities.  In short, they have nothing in common and just don't understand each other.  The most constructive way to deal with this energy is make some kind of adjustment.  Adjustment is a key word associated with the inconjunct aspect.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
