The first month of 2021 is coming to a close and Aquarius season is in full swing. On January 28, we had a Full Moon in 9 degrees of Leo opposing the Sun in Aquarius, inspiring me to tweet:

The year 2020 was dominated by cardinal energy, with
Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn.
Now that Saturn and Jupiter are in the fixed sign of Aquarius, fixed
energy is becoming more predominant and calling the shots. In fact, astrologer Anne Ortelee describes it
as all of the planets reporting to Saturn in Aquarius. Cardinal planets are the movers and the
shakers, but when the heavy hitting planets are in fixed signs, there is a more
measured and careful approach taken.
This will be the theme of 2021, a highly transitional year.
I am sure many of you have been feeling it already, but on January 30, Mercury will officially station retrograde in 26 degrees of Aquarius and will station direct on February 20 in 11 degrees of Aquarius. I think that Mercury’s entrance into its shadow period on January 15 triggered the flicker of recognition of what this Mercury Retrograde would be like. In case you are interested, Mercury departs its retrograde shadow period on March 13 in 26 degrees of Aquarius.
Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius can be particularly challenging. For starters, Mercury in Aquarius is opinionated and prone to a know-it-all persona. It is fixed energy, so it’s stubborn. But it does have the perk of being able to deliver innovative ideas; hold onto concept that in the coming weeks. And because Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, it can wreak mayhem with technology. Watch out for computer problems; back up everything. I live in Massachusetts and this week it was announced that the COVID-19 vaccination would become available to seniors over 75. I have been valiantly trying to schedule an appointment for my husband since it is supposed to be available the first week of February, but I have had absolutely no luck. Several times I thought I had an appointment but by the final click I kept getting a message that the appointment was gone. And don’t get me started on the number of sites I clicked on that had no vaccines available. This is a prime example of Mercury Retrograde, and it was still in the shadow period.
The month of February is starting off on a somewhat rocky note. On February 1, the Sun in Aquarius and Mars in Taurus are exactly square in 12 degrees of their respective signs. Once again, we are dealing with a lot of fixed energy. I also have a natal Sun-Mars square in my chart involving the signs Scorpio and Aquarius, so I am all too familiar with what this aspect brings to the table; I have been dealing with it my whole life. It is a contentious vibe, as the need for freedom is clashing with the urge to dominate and it occurs in two fixed signs that are very stubborn. We could very well be facing tests of character from enemies or competitors as we are forced to defend our goals and desires. The Sun square Mars is inherently defensive and actually better off this way as opposed to be being on the offense. We could also be dealing with a build-up of anger, resentment and sexual frustration. If this happens to you, I encourage you to find a productive outlet like exercise.
But we also have Venus changing signs on February 1. It moves into Aquarius where it stays until the 25th. We can breathe a sigh of relief that there is no Venus Retrograde this year, like last year. Venus in Aquarius is highly unconventional, independent and freedom loving. We will also be approaching relationships and finances in a more analytical fashion. When Venus is in Aquarius, we are more inclined to treat people fairly and friends are extremely important to us. This is also a time when someone that you considered to be “just a friend” evolves into “the one.” It’s quite possible that someone who has been literally under your nose all along is seen in a whole new light because Venus in Aquarius values friendship as an important element in a relationship.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me
to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are
concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my
in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social
distancing. I recently learned that I no longer have my Brookline office, so
all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable
future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will
find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the
perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have
contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your
home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope
to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when
they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a
telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their
blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom
consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have
also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I
don’t always have a photo of my client.
I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where
