Mercury on the Move as it Conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn and Then Cruises Through Aquarius

 

Mercury is really on the move these days.  On February 10, Mercury will conjunct Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn.  This is the last aspect that Mercury in Capricorn makes before it enters Aquarius on February 11, and it is a really important aspect.  We can expect major confrontations and big secrets around structures and leadership will be revealed.  It is also quite likely that very sharp words will be exchanged, as tact will probably be missing in action on this day.  Depth and intensity in communication will be front and center.  Try to remember that this aspect can provide us with psychological insight as we take inventory.  If we can get past the harsh edges, this can help us to solve some rather sticky problems.

Mercury will move into the fixed air sign of Aquarius on February 11, where it stays until March 2.  I don't know about you, but I found that Mercury's transit of Capricorn since early December 2022, including the Mercury retrograde, was particularly brutal.  And I have been hearing that from friends and clients as well.  Mercury in Capricorn conjuncted my North Node in Capricorn in my 3rd house, my Chiron in Capricorn in my 4th house, squared my Neptune in Libra and Libra Ascendant and opposed my Cancer Midheaven and Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Cancer.  So it has not been pleasant, to say the least.

  

When Mercury is in Aquarius, it will be a welcome relief.  Our thoughts will be more progressive and detached, as we are more able to think outside of the box. We are more spontaneous and objective.  We are more receptive to more information and find it easier to separate intellect and emotion when assessing a situation.  But we need to be mindful of the fact that Mercury in Aquarius is a fixed sign, so there is a tendency to cling to our ideas and beliefs.  Mercury in Capricorn was especially wounding for many people, but Mercury in Aquarius still has the ability to hurt people's feelings because we are operating on such a rational level.  Just keep that in mind and we should be able to enjoy this breezy transit of Mercury in Aquarius.

If your Valentine's Day on February 14 isn't all that romantic or pleasant for you, wait until February 15 when Venus and Neptune are conjunct in 23 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect will generate more love, compassion and empathy.  It is also very favorable for creativity and healing.  Venus conjunct Neptune in Pisces can indicate the potential for new romance and increase the spiritual bonding in an existing relationship.

We have one more major aspect on February 16.  The Sun and Saturn will be conjunct in 27 degrees of Aquarius.  The Sun-Saturn conjunction has themes of hard work, discipline and patience.  We might be called upon to assume additional responsibilities.  This aspect can also trigger feelings of insecurity, loneliness and depression.  I have a very wide Sun-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio, so I am all too familiar with this aspect.  The upcoming conjunction falls in my 5th house and is opposing my natal Pluto in Leo in my 11th house, so I am trying to prepare myself for it.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
