YIPPEE, HALLELUJAH! After what seems like an eternity in Mercury
retrograde land, Mercury is FINALLY STATIONING DIRECT in 0 degrees of Libra at
10:57 a.m. on October 9, 2015. A
collective sigh of relief is being heard round the world. While it may not instaneously restore order
to all of the communication, computer and transportation snafus we have been
experiencing since it stationed retrograde on September 17th, relief
is definitely in sight. The energy of a planet is always particularly intense
when it stations direct or retrograde, so it may take a couple of days for
things to return to some semblance of normality. As an added perk, when Mercury
stations direct, it conjuncts the north node in Libra. This aspect gives a boost to achieving more
balance in our relationships and steering us back on track to move forward with
our soul’s destiny.
The flip side of Venus in Virgo is that it also tends to be
perfectionist and hypercritical. It can
take wanting to fix people to a level of codependency if we’re not careful. Relationships can literally become projects
for some people during this transit or if they have it natally. Character and integrity are very important with
Venus is in Virgo. Both Eleanor
Roosevelt and Martha Stewart have Venus in Virgo; in different ways, both women
strived for perfection in areas of life that were important to them.
Venus will be in Virgo until November 8, 2015 and it will
make some challenging aspects that will test our mettle in relationships. On October 10th it will square
Saturn in Sagittarius and this aspect heralds the call for a reality check in
relationships. Saturn has a way of
forcing us to deal with the realities of life.
On October 16th, Venus in Virgo will be opposing Neptune in
Pisces. This aspect has the potential
for projection of our victim, savior or martyr issues to spill out into
relationships, as well being a breeding ground for deception.
But let’s take a look at how this powerful Libra New Moon
will play out for us on October 12th, which is actually observed as
Columbus Day in the United States. Both
the sun and moon will be opposing Uranus in Aries, so don’t rule out sudden,
extreme changes that can rock our world but ultimately set us on the proper
course. And any deception that may have been
obscured by the recent eclipses may come to light. Libra seeks balance and equality, and Uranus
may very well deliver the means to that end in a rather shocking way.
The new moon will be conjunct my Libra
Ascendant and forming a wide conjunction to my natal Neptune, so I don’t think
it will be a boring new moon for me. I
am eagerly anticipating a restoration of order and balance in my life,
especially since the sun entered my 1st house on October 10th. I never really enjoy the sun’s annual transit
to my 12th house, but I realize its importance and necessity. This year it coincided with Mercury
retrograde, which kind of reinforced the whole theme of reviewing the past
year. I think that my biggest issue with
the sun’s 12th house transit is that I tend to feel invisible and
that my physical vitality is lowered so that I am more susceptible to
illness. So having a New Moon on my
ascendant is literally bringing me out of the shadows, restoring my physical
energy and offering me an opportunity to shine.
Bring it on!
Jupiter in Virgo is also playing a featured role in this
new moon. Jupiter in Virgo is all about opportunity
coming through service to others, and it is a stickler for details. I was speaking with a friend this week who
has a natal Jupiter in Virgo and she confessed that while it is a blessing for
doing detail oriented work, it also causes her to get bogged down in
details. On the evening of October 11th,
approximately 24 hours before the New Moon, Jupiter in Virgo trines Pluto in
Capricorn. And this is a good thing
because Pluto in Capricorn affords us the opportunity to feel empowered in
transforming our material life if we pay attention to the details and engage in
due diligence. Jupiter, like Venus, is
not all that comfortable in Virgo. After
all, they are affectionately known as the Benefics, and they like to have a
good time. Virgo is not exactly the good
time girl; she is more of a “good girl” who does what needs to be done and
serves others. Think back a few months
when both Jupiter and Venus were in Leo—it was a very different type of energy
which was perfect for the summer season.
Leo likes to shine and party.
Virgo is more reserved and modest.
