Mars Moves into Gemini and Mercury Conjunct Neptune Take Two



Mars, the planet of action, desire and passion is on the move again.  On March 31, 2019, it leaves the practical earth sign of Taurus for the mutable air sign of Gemini, where it stays until May 15, 2019.  I don’t know about you, but I am extremely grateful that we don’t have a Mars Retrograde this year, after last year’s Mars Retrograde that transpired from June 26 through August 26, 2018 in the signs of Aquarius and Capricorn.  The general consensus of that Mars Retrograde was that people felt derailed, stuck and forward movement wasn’t happening. In short, it wasn’t the best summer.

But Mars in Gemini will literally bring a breath of fresh air to our actions.  Mars in Taurus was slow, deliberate, at times stubborn, prodding and focused on achieving its goals.  Mars in Gemini is bound to have us in engaging in more diversified interests with a more flexible attitude.  But the downside of Mars in Gemini is the potential to be more scattered and have more trouble focusing.  However, it you are into multi-tasking, this can be a golden opportunity to spread your energies and try new things as you can feel like you are in your element.  Since Mars is the planet associated with sex, don’t be surprised if the brain becomes an erogenous zone during this transit as a meeting of the minds can become the ultimate turn-on. Mars in Gemini is very intelligent, quick thinking and charming. 

Mars in Gemini also has a lot of duality associated with it.  It’s the sign of the twins, don’t forget. There can be two sides to the transit of Mars in Gemini.  In addition to the charm and wit of Mars in Gemini, the shadow side of Mars in Gemini is a tendency to feel restless and irritable. We don’t take kindly to criticism when Mars is in Gemini.  Automobile accidents, road rage and temper tantrums tend to be on the rise when Mars is in Gemini.

Mars in Gemini will conjunct my moon on April 22, 2019, so I need to be mindful of my emotional triggers.  But it will also be trining my Libra ascendant and Mars in Aquarius at the same time, so I am hoping that this activation of my Grand Air Trine will have more energizing benefits than drawbacks.

Mercury and Neptune will be conjunct in 17 degrees of Pisces on April 2, 2019.  I know that many of you are asking didn’t we just have a Mercury Neptune conjunction on March 24, 2019?  Yes, we did, but Mercury was retrograde on that day and many people had a difficult, frustrating experience on that day.  On that day I tweeted:
I had my share of woes on March 24th when an astrology book that I ordered from Amazon couldn’t be delivered.  I’m not kidding; this is such supreme irony in the depiction of Mercury retrograde conjunct Neptune in Pisces.  It was delivered on the next day, but it turns out that they tried to deliver it to my mailbox on Sunday instead of dropping it outside my door.

Seriously, I am really not bashing the Mercury/Neptune conjunction aspect.  I have a natal out of sign Mercury/Neptune conjunction in Scorpio and Libra in my first house and I take enormous pride and gratitude in the amount of sensitivity and psychic perception that it gives me.  This aspect is great for meditation and the most positive manifestation of it when Mercury will be direct on April 2, 2019 is the expression of insights through compassionate, supportive and selfless words and thoughts.  The shadow side of this aspect can play out in thoughtless words which can be twisted by misconception, irrationality, confusion, fear and paranoia.  The bottom line is that we may still need to be on the lookout for deceit, treachery and lies but the fact that Mercury will be direct gives us a chance at a do-over and I am certainly on board with that.

March Continues to be a Powerful and Healing Month as the Sun Conjuncts Chiron, Venus Enters Pisces and Mercury Stations Direct




Many of us are still recuperating from the effects of the powerful Super Full Moon in Libra on March 20, 2019, when I tweeted:
This full moon in Libra had a huge focus on healing relationships and that trend is continuing.  On March 22, 2019 the sun and Chiron will be conjunct in 1 degree of Aries.  The sun represents our ego and Chiron is all about our vulnerabilities and wounds.  When these two planets collide, we will be presented with an opportunity to uncover fears and wounds regarding our ego and life path.  Insecurities, fears, perceived failures and unresolved issues pertaining to our life purpose are revealed while our creativity, self-expression and independence will come under scrutiny.  But the fact that this conjunction occurs in the warrior sign of Aries gives us the courage to do that healing work.  The moon enters Scorpio at 10:16 p.m. on March 22nd, and we all know that a Scorpio moon is not exactly lightweight energy.  It opposes Uranus in Taurus that night as well, so there could definitely be some upheavals in relationships.

Venus is entering the sign of its exaltation, Pisces on March 26, 2019 where it will reside until April 20, 2019.  Venus in Pisces has strong themes of forgiveness, compassion, empathy, and understanding.  We literally can feel others’ pain while Venus is transiting the sign of Pisces.  It can be a time of tenderness, affection, romance and heightened creativity.  But there is a shadow side of Venus in Pisces that we need to be mindful of.  Venus in Pisces is prone to longing for something that is hard to define and boundaries may get blurred.  This is a big deal because Pisces is ruled by Neptune, which has a somewhat foggy, elusive, hard to pin down quality.  Some other potential shadow manifestations of Venus in Pisces include escapism, deception, wallowing in sadness and a tendency to act out the victim/martyr complex.  Just try to be aware of these pitfalls and the Venus in Pisces transit can be a delightfully creative, spiritual, healing and loving time.  If you are curious as to how the higher side of Venus in Pisces manifests, look no further than Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who has Venus in 15 degrees of Pisces in addition to her sun and midheaven in Pisces.  That is quite a placement for a judge who can see and understand in a fair manner.  And she also exemplified the exaltation of Venus in Pisces with her marriage to Martin Ginsburg, a true partnership that lasted 56 years until his death in 2010.

We also something to celebrate at the end of March 2019.  On March 28, 2019 Mercury stations direct in 16 degrees of Pisces after a somewhat grueling Mercury retrograde that has prevailed since March 5, 2019.  Mercury is not comfortable in the sign of Pisces to begin with because Mercury is all about being in your head while Pisces likes to reach out to others.  Mercury retrograde in Pisces forced us many of us to reflect on issues of spirituality, selflessness, creativity, romance, escapism, delusion and denial.  On March 24, 2019 Mercury retrograde will be conjunct its ruling planet Neptune in 16 degrees of Pisces, which can play out in communications becoming more spiritual and compassionate or downright deceitful.

Mercury doesn’t clear its retrograde shadow until April 16, 2019 which means that we may still have some confusion in our lives but there is also a sense of rejuvenation and a breath of fresh air in communications when it stations direct on March 28th.  We can literally like we are moving forward and when Mercury enters Aries on April 17, 2019, whatever fog and illusions that existed during the extended transit of Mercury in Pisces will be totally dissolved and communications will be direct, bold and assertive.

The Sun Moves into Aries and a Super Full Moon in Libra



Saturn in Capricorn and Mars in Taurus are paving the way for a powerful Super Full Moon in Libra on March 20, 2019, the same day that the sun enters Aries.  Saturn in Capricorn trined Mars in Taurus in 18 degrees of their respective signs on March 14, 2019, inspiring me to tweet:
Saturn trining Mars is providing stable and grounded earth energy to help us make our dreams a reality if we apply ourselves. Mars in Taurus is nothing if not persistent and able to go the distance to arrive at its destination.  It doesn’t mind taking its time, it’s patient, unlike the previous sign of Aries.  And Mars in Taurus will be giving us another boost of energy on March 20, 2019, the day of the full moon in Libra, when it forms an easy, favorable flowing trine to Pluto in Capricorn in 22 degrees of their respective signs. It provides the fuel and the power to act on eliminating obstacles to success without causing conflict and maintaining a sense of harmony that is in perfect alignment with that full moon in Libra.

On March 20, 2019, the sun enters the sign of Aries at 5:58 p.m. and the astrological New Year literally begins because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. It is the Spring Equinox and the first day of spring.  We will be feeling the need to let go of the past and the future so that we can live in the moment.  That is sage advice for everyone in these turbulent times.  When the sun is in the sign of Aries, we are motivated by a desire to conquer, we’re more impulsive and have a strong urge to initiate.  This is cardinal fire energy and you can’t ignore it.  We will have more courage but the potential downside is that we can be short sighted and unable to plan ahead because we are unable to see the big picture.  But the energy is strong for new beginnings.

The moon enters the sign of Libra at 9:28 p.m. and the full moon occurs fifteen minutes later at 9:43 p.m.  This is going to be a very powerful super full moon for several reasons.  For starters, it’s a super full moon because it is so close to the earth, the third this year—the first occurred on January 21, 2019 and the second occurred on February 19, 2019.  It’s also the fifth full moon in 0 degrees of a sign, which tends to amplify the theme of endings and new beginnings.  We are in the process of transitioning from the old to new in the power structures of our society.  Secrets can come to light during this full moon. Anyone who has planets in 28-29 of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces and in 0-2 of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel the effects of this full moon big time.

A full moon in Libra is bound to have serious implications in relationships, something that Libra is all about.  The full moon in 0 degrees of Libra forms an irritating inconjunct with Uranus in 0 degrees of Taurus.  Be mindful of the fact that there will probably be a buildup of nervous tension that can be accompanied by irritability, mood swings and emotional outbursts.  Adjustments (the key word and only way of coping with an inconjunct aspect) may be necessary in relationships with women.  The full moon inconjunct Uranus could also indicate meeting someone new and unusual or eccentric but be aware that this person might be a very disruptive influence in your life.  And don’t act too impulsively.
There are a lot of other aspects in play during this full moon.  The sun in Aries is conjunct Chiron in Aries, which can have a very healing influence on relationships.   Retrograde Mercury in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in Capricorn which can help mitigate the tension caused by Uranus by providing clear thinking and good judgement.   Venus in 23 degrees of Aquarius is exactly square Mars in 23 degrees of Taurus on the full moon, and this can manifest in sexual frustration and competitive tension.  It could also play out as a conflict between having freedom and the desire to maintain stability in relationships.   But Venus in Aquarius is also forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in Sagittarius, which will bring good luck and generosity.  Love and affection may prevail and help heal relationships.  All is not lost when these two benefics are in alignment.  And don’t forget that Mars and Pluto, those two heavyweights, are playing nice in the astrological sandbox with a flowing trine on the day of the full moon.

Mars, Saturn, Pluto and Uranus in Earth Signs Are a Productive Influence with Pisces Planets



We may still be under the influence of the Pisces New Moon of March 6, 2019 that was also conjunct Neptune in Pisces, but we have a whole lot of earth energy at work as well. Uranus entered the sign of Taurus on March 6th for the next seven years, inspiring me to tweet:
We all know that in addition to Uranus being in Taurus for the next seven years, Saturn and Pluto are having a long run in Capricorn.  They are actually headed for a conjunction in 2020.  But Mars has been in Taurus since February 14, 2019 (Valentine’s Day) and will remain in Taurus until March 31, 2019.  Mars in Taurus is slow and steady but persistent and ultimately very productive and lends a grounding influence to whatever it touches.

During the next week we have some very stabilizing aspects occurring between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Taurus.  Three of four aspects that I will be discussing are in fact sextiles to the sun and Neptune in Pisces.  The fourth aspect is a trine.

The first aspect occurs on March 9, 2019 when the sun in Pisces forms a supportive sextile to Saturn in Capricorn in 18 degrees of their respective signs.  This aspect bestows patience and perseverance.  It’s a marvelous time to focus on serious or difficult tasks because determination will be strong.  It favors hard work and it should come easily.  Personally, I look forward to it because the Pisces sun is trining my Scorpio sun on that day and Saturn in Capricorn is sextiling my sun.  It should be a productive day.

On March 10, 2019 Mars in Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces in 16 degrees of their respective signs.  This aspect ramps up our sensuality and sensitivity to others.  It make us more open to serving others as it is very spiritual energy.  If you are feeling riled up about any injustice you will be able to assert yourself in fighting for what you believe to be right.

The sun in Pisces forms an exact sextile to Pluto in Capricorn in 22 degrees on March 13, 2019.  This aspect will increase our need to succeed and claim our power.  If you have any obsessive or compulsive traits they can actually be used constructively to get things accomplished. Power is a strong theme with this aspect so just be mindful not to abuse it.

And on March 24, 2019, Mars in Taurus is exactly trine Saturn in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  This aspect is all about having the strength, ambition and perseverance to tackle difficult tasks and see them through to completion. It favors finances and career goals.  If you are feeling passionate about something, go for it.  This is a time when dedication and dependability could prove to be just as alluring your physical appearance.  Trines are really nice aspects, especially when these two planets are involved.  Take it from me, I know this firsthand because I have a Mars Saturn square natally and that is one challenging aspect.

In addition to having the sun and Neptune in Pisces, we also have Mercury (retrograde to boot) in Pisces. Mercury will be in Pisces until April 17, 2019, long after the sun has left Pisces for the fire sign of Aries.  I have been feeling the effects of this Mercury retrograde since it entered the shadow period and experienced enormous frustration on the day it stationed retrograde (March 5th) when I realized that I was not receiving my voicemail.  I missed some very important calls. After a couple of phone calls with Apple, I am happy to report that the problem is now resolved.  But if anyone has tried to contact me in the last few weeks (since Mercury entered the shadow period in February) and haven’t heard back from me, please accept my apologies and reach out again.  I have a firm policy of returning all calls within 24 hours.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. March Roars in Like a Lion with Venus Entering Aquarius, Mercury Retrograde, a New Moon in Pisces and Uranus Entering Taurus





March 2019 is quite literally starting with a bang.  At 7:32 a.m. on March 1, 2019 Venus in 29 degrees of Capricorn is squaring Uranus in 29 degrees of Aries. This aspect promises to bring unpredictability in relationships.  If you have any planets in 0 degrees of any of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you may experience some sudden change, but it might be a pleasant one.  I certainly hope so because my Mercury is in 0 degrees of Scorpio.  And the effects of this square will be felt for some time because Venus is entering Aquarius at 11:45 a.m. on March 1st and Uranus will enter Taurus on March 6, 2019.

Venus will be in the fixed sign of Aquarius from March 1 through March 26, 2019.  Thankfully we have no Venus retrogrades this year!  When Venus is transiting the sign of Aquarius, relationships will take on themes of unconventionality, independence and freedom of expression.  While Aquarius is known for its ability to detach, it can just as easily bring on a sudden attraction that feels electric (like its ruling planet Uranus) and non-judgmental love.   And friendships will become very important while Venus is transiting the sign of Aquarius.  We may very well want our lover to be our best friend during this transit.

On March 5, 2019, Mercury will station retrograde in 29 degrees of Pisces.  It stations direct on March 28, 2019 in 16 degrees of Pisces.  For those of us who factor in the concept of the Mercury Retrograde shadow, we aren’t totally out of the woods until April 16, 2019 when Mercury clears its shadow in 29 degrees of Pisces.  I personally experienced the full Mercury Retrograde Shadow effect on February 25, 2019 when I was stuck on a subway train for an hour when a tree fell and no one seemed to know when it would be cleared and we could move.  You know the drill when Mercury is retrograde: expect delays in communication and transportation, try not to sign any contracts or accept a new job and refrain from buying new cars, computers and cell phones if at all possible.  All of these are ruled by Mercury.

But seriously, folks, mark your calendars for March 6, 2019.  We have two stellar events on that day.  Uranus enters the sign of Taurus at 3:26 a.m. and stays in Taurus until 2026.  Uranus briefly entered Taurus last year from May through November 2018, but this time it’s here to stay for its first extended transit since 1934-1942.  This may not be the most comfortable transit for Uranus. Uranus in Aries has brought many changes in the last seven years but since Uranus is a planet that loves to shake things up, at least that energy was compatible with the cardinal fire sign of Aries.  Not so much with the fixed earth sign of Taurus.  Taurus wants to keep things steady and is resistant to change.  There will be tension, no doubt about it.

Uranus in Taurus will undoubtedly bring about changes in the earth in terms of climate change, extremes in temperature and volcanoes and earthquakes.  In May 2018 when Uranus entered Taurus Hawaii had a volcano erupt.  But Uranus in Taurus could also see changes in food production and agriculture and there may be more of an emphasis on organic food.  Banking, money and finances will be undergoing major changes while Uranus is transiting Taurus.  Taurus is all about what I possess or own, but it can also be associated with extreme views.  Just think back to 1934 and the rise of fascism and Hitler.  Hopefully we won’t repeat the same mistakes.

The sign of Taurus is ruled by Venus so there could be some really pleasant changes in store for us.  Our values could change and there might be new ways to rejuvenate ourselves in terms of the aging process. This piece dovetails nicely with the fact that Chiron recently Aries on February 18, 2019 and this is encouraging all of us to take personal responsibility for our own healing.  That healing could very well involve alternative methods like energy healing and other modalities.

The new moon occurs in 15 degrees of Pisces at 8:00 p.m. on March 6, 2019.  New moons signal new beginnings and it is a perfect time to set new intentions.  I am personally stoked because this new moon occurs in my 5th house of creativity.  The sun and moon are also conjunct Neptune in 16 degrees of Pisces, which has a strong theme of going deeply inward to reflect on what we want and take action to manifest those desires.  We also have five planets in mutable signs on this new moon.  In addition to the sun, moon, Mercury and Neptune in Pisces, we have Jupiter in Sagittarius.

Jupiter in Sagittarius seeks the truth, but it is forming an uncomfortable square (a 6 degree orb, still close enough to be felt) with that new moon.  And this can bring out the shadow side of Pisces, which involves secrets, deception and what is hidden.  So it really is the best course of action to focus on internal power rather than external power.

Another feature of this new moon in Pisces is the fact that the asteroid Pallas, associated with wisdom and the warrior, in 28 degrees of Libra is opposing Uranus in Taurus and squaring the north node in 25 degrees of Cancer and south node in 25 degrees of Capricorn.  This constitutes a T-Square which can simultaneously stimulate drive and courage while generating tension and conflict.  Since it is a cardinal T-Square we can experience feelings of impatience, but it can also propel us into action to initiate new endeavors.  And with Pallas involved, we will literally have the energy to fight for what we believe in.
