The sun may be in Sagittarius but Venus has entered
Capricorn and Jupiter is getting ready to enter Capricorn as well. Venus entered Capricorn on November 25, 2019,
inspiring me to tweet:

Jupiter enters Capricorn on December 2, 2019 and remains in
Capricorn through December 10, 2020.
Jupiter is considered to be “in fall” in the sign of Capricorn. Jupiter
is not considered to be strong in Capricorn because its path to expansion, joy
and good luck is restricted by Capricorn’s love of caution and conformity. It
tends to put the brakes on expansiveness but it can still bring good fortune to
those who are willing to work for it. Don’t
forget that Capricorn is a workaholic sign.
It denotes a major shift in consciousness from Jupiter in
Sagittarius. Jupiter rules Sagittarius,
so that transit had a very freewheeling and risk-taking vibe.
Jupiter in Capricorn is more averse to risk-taking and its
energy is better utilized by cultivating the skills of perseverance,
reliability, practicality, common sense, logic and structuring ourselves. It marks
a time for direction, clear goals, making plans, organizing and conducting
ourselves with maturity, integrity and a sense of ethics. Success comes from streamlining, being
resourceful and engaging in self-control which encourages us to be
self-reliant. In short, Jupiter in
Capricorn makes us work for our luck.
Saturn is in Capricorn for most of 2020, except for when it tiptoes into
Aquarius from March 21, 2020 through July 1, 2020. Saturn permanently enters Aquarius on
December 17, 2020. The combination of Saturn and Jupiter in Capricorn helps us
to create more joy and pleasure in pursuing our goals. And don’t forget that Pluto is still in
Capricorn helping us to implement transformation.
The major thing to consider with Jupiter transiting
Capricorn is which house it will hit in your natal chart. Jupiter in Capricorn will start in my 3rd
house and will conjunct my north node in Capricorn in mid-January 2020. I know that if I want some good luck in this
area of my life (communications, short trips and immediate environment) that I
am going to have to work for it because that is what the north node does: it forces
you to stretch out of your comfort zone.
I admit that for many years I struggled with having a north node in
Capricorn because it seemed alien to me but I am finally learning how to
embrace its challenges and stretch out of my comfort zone. It’s not always easy but it can be immensely
rewarding.
As an astrologer, I’ve also been reflecting on previous
Jupiter in Capricorn transits. They occur
every 12 years and reflecting on them allows us the opportunity to see patterns
in our lives. The last time Jupiter was
in Capricorn was from December 18, 2007 through January 5, 2009. Yes, there was a major economic downturn back
then which saw massive job losses and a financial crisis that has been
described as the Great Recession. It stemmed from the collapse of the real
estate market and the subprime mortgage crisis.
Could it happen again? We have a
major conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn which is exact on January
12, 2020 in 22 degrees of Capricorn, so there is the potential for major shakeups
in the areas of finances, politics and institutions. The shadow side of Jupiter in Capricorn is an
attraction to power and those who wield it.
Just remember not to chase it and give away your control during this
transit.
The previous Jupiter in Capricorn transits occurred from
January 4, 1996 through January 21, 1997 and from January 20, 1984 through
February 6, 1985. Personally I experienced some job changes during those Jupiter
transits. I am self-employed now but I’m
not ruling out any changes in my business during this transit of Jupiter in
Capricorn.
Anyone who has their sun, moon or ascendant in Capricorn
will undoubtedly experience a time of great and change and progress in their
lives as a result of this Jupiter in Capricorn transit. People with sun in
Capricorn will be likely to attract success, recognition and have a surge in
terms of their creative juices flowing.
A native with a Capricorn ascendant might feel like they are entering a
new phase of life and possibly a new career.
And those with moon in Capricorn could see improvements in their home
and family life, including a bigger home. Don’t forget that Jupiter loves to
expand whatever it touches.
