Mercury Retrogrades in Taurus and Mars and Chiron Square Each Other

 

Hold on folks because Mercury stations retrograde in 15 degrees of Taurus at 4:35 a.m. on April 21.  This is only one day after a super-charged Solar Eclipse in 29 degrees of Aries and Mercury will still be retrograde when we have the Lunar Eclipse on May 5 in 14 degrees of Scorpio.  Mercury will be retrograde until May 14 when it stations direct in 5 degrees of Taurus.

I don't know about you, but I have been feeling the effects of Mercury retrograde for a while.  I am a  big believer in the shadow and Mercury entered its retrograde shadow on April 7.  This week alone, I have experienced numerous online issues with purchases and phone calls either not going through or getting dropped.  

The Mercury retrogrades in 2023 are all occurring in earth signs.  The year began with Mercury retrograde in Capricorn which started on December 29, 2022, this one is in Taurus, and on August 23, Mercury stations retrograde in 21 degrees of Virgo.  The bottom line with Mercury retrograde in earth signs is that our sense of stability will be disrupted and we will need to review several issues in our lives in order to get more grounded.  Mercury retrograde in Taurus will have a strong emphasis on finances, values and our sense of security.  This is in addition to the usual delays and frustrations that we encounter with communication and transportation.

On April 23, retrograde Mercury in Taurus will be forming a supportive sextile to Mars in 14 degrees of Cancer.  I personally love sextile aspects because they tend to provide opportunities.  Mercury sextiling Mars will speed up our mind while giving us the courage and fighting spirit we need to be more honest and direct.  I am hoping that this aspect helps to mitigate the effects of Mercury retrograde.  Mercury sextiling Mars can also make us more flirtatious.  Normally, I wouldn't recommend starting a relationship when Mercury (or Venus) is retrograde, but if you are up for a little socializing, this aspect can help you.

In terms of stability, on April 25, the Sun in Taurus is sextiling Saturn in 5 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect blesses us with patience, perseverance and a strong work ethic. It is a perfect day for focusing on our goals and hunkering down to tackle our responsibilities.  It encourages hard work, but it also holds the promise of advancement because Saturn can also reward us in addition to testing us.

There is one more aspect in the coming week that I would like to discuss.  This one happens on April 27 when Mars in Cancer is squaring Chiron in 17 degrees of Aries. The theme of this aspect is that wounds can resurface unexpectedly. Don't be afraid to be vulnerable because we need to feel our pain in order to heal them.  Resist the urge to bury them; we really do have to process our feelings in order to welcome the changes in our lives that eclipse season is demanding.  Mars in Cancer can cause us to slip into the victim role very easily, so be mindful of that.  The most constructive use of this energy is to work on healing what has made you feel like a victim.  Mars and Chiron are both in cardinal signs, which makes it easier to take action and access our inner strength.  You do remember that cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) love to initiate, don't you?  They literally are the movers and shakers in the zodiac.  This aspect encourages us to take some risks and set some boundaries in relationships.  And remember that it's okay if you don't feel comfortable at first; it's more important to take some steps, even if they are baby steps, towards healing.

I have a very prominent natal Chiron in Capricorn in my 4th house, so I am trying to take this aspect to heart.  Mars in Cancer will be conjunct my Cancer Midheaven and squaring my Libra Ascendant, which I am sensing will have a major impact in my life.  And right now Chiron in Aries is transiting my 7th house.  If you are curious about Chiron in your own chart, I encourage you to purchase my Chiron Report: the Key to Healing Your Deepest Wound.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
