July is starting off with a bang as Chiron in
29 degrees of Pisces (rounded off from 28 degrees and 52 seconds) stations
retrograde at 3:09 a.m. until December 5, 2017 when it stations direct in 24
degrees of Pisces. I am emphasizing
Chiron in 29 degrees of Pisces because everyone knows that whenever a planet is
in 29 degrees of a sign it is said to be critical, amplifying the energy of the
planet.
With Chiron retrograde in Pisces for five
months, we will be given ample opportunities to heal the wound of
disillusionment and the fear of being betrayed by the Universe and feelings of
being unsupported. A major part of the
healing process is the need to have a belief in a Higher Power or at least a
higher aspect of the self. We may very
well feel afraid and overwhelmed during this transit, but this is a time for
revisiting old issues and wounds so they can heal. Situations could emerge that rock us to our
vulnerable core. I recently came across a
piece on the Ruby Slipper Astrology website that resonated big time for
me. She described a three step process
of healing that Chiron wound:
1.
Open the wound
2.
Heal it
3.
Learn from it
This is easier said than done. But Chiron retrograde forces us to open the
wound, like it or not. In some ways
Chiron can be like Saturn in that it forces us to confront things that are not
working for us so that we can move forward.
Many of my friends and clients have been asking
me recently why everything in life seems so difficult these days. Saturn is naturally assumed to be the bad guy
when we feel tested to our limits, but I also realized this week that Saturn in
Sagittarius is squaring Chiron in Pisces for most of 2017. When I did some research on that transit, I
came across something from astrologer Dena DeCastro describing it as: “The
Inner Child meets the Inner Adult.” Eureka- this explains that feeling many of us
have right now. She went on to explain
it as a period of spiritually growing up.
The lesson (Saturn) may involve striking a balance between meeting the
needs of our inner child (Chiron) and attending to the responsibilities of life
that are mandated by our inner adult.
This is pretty powerful stuff. Mentoring
can be a theme with this aspect and healing others by sharing our wisdom with
them. So I was inspired to share these nuggets
of knowledge that I came across.
I have a prominent Chiron in my natal chart
which helps explain my path as a healer.
It is in Capricorn squaring my Neptune in Libra, and opposing my natal
Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer. A natal
Chiron squaring Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, has a natural affinity for the
energy of Chiron in Pisces. I am a Scorpio, but my progressed sun is currently in
Capricorn and is conjunct that natal Chiron in my 4th house. It would be an understatement to say that stuff
is coming up. The Chiron retrograde in
Pisces transit will occur in my 6th house (there goes that service
to others theme) and will be trining my natal Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer in
my 10th house, as well as my natal retrograde Venus in Scorpio in my
2nd house. I am hoping that the
trine to my natal retrograde Uranus will provide some emotional detachment and
more openness in my approach to healing. Some people may fear Chiron’s transit
of the 6th house will bring illness, but I have chosen to focus on
exercising more and helping others heal through my work. But I am still dealing
with painful issues from my past and trying to develop a more positive approach
to my wounds while I attempt to let go of some old emotional baggage that no
longer serves me. It’s a work in
progress.
On July 2, 2017, Mars in Cancer will be in
direct opposition to Pluto in Capricorn in 18 degrees of the respective signs. This aspect represents a major conflict between
the ego and soul, so the fireworks traditionally associated with the 4th
of July may get an early start.
Emotional challenges may confront us, but we need to reframe them as an
opportunity to empower ourselves in whatever area of life has been crippling
us. I sense this will be a particularly
intense time for Scorpios, as it involves our ruling planets as they literally
duke it out with each other. Buttons
will be pushed and it will be SO easy to overreact. The key to handling this energy is to stay
calm, centered and mindful. Patience is
called for and that is definitely not something I possess in any great
quantity. This opposition occurs one
scant degree away from my 4th house cusp and my midheaven, so I too
can anticipate some emotional challenges.
Mars in Cancer has been on the receiving end of
some pretty heavy astrological action this past week. It started on June 26th when it
trined Neptune in Pisces and on June 28th it received a conjunction
from Mercury in Cancer, inspiring me to tweet:

On a lighter note for the 4th of
July, Venus enters the air sign of Gemini at 8:11 p.m. This is definitely a highly sociable Venus that
is focused on communication and attractions may begin with words. Gemini is
ruled by Mercury and there is a strong emphasis on mental functions. Venus in
Gemini is also a time of craving variety, fun and spontaneity, so it is a perfect
vibe for holiday celebrations and vacations. But it does have a shadow side of
being fickle. Fair warning on that one.
