Are you still reeling from the shock of the Las Vegas
shooting on October 1, 2017 and the full moon in Aries on October 5, 2017? I know that I am and I am definitely looking
forward to some good astrological news on the horizon. Trust me, it is on the
way in the form of Jupiter entering the sign of Scorpio on October 10, 2017.
I know that last week I wrote glowingly about Mars in 16
degrees of Virgo trining Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn on October 1st
and how it was such a positive aspect in terms of being assertive while maintaining
harmony. Clearly, it did not manifest that way.
I couldn’t resist looking at the chart for the time of the shooting,
which was 10:08 p.m. on October 1.2017.
Take a look:
The first thing that struck me about this chart was that
Pluto in Capricorn fell in the 8th house of death, transformation,
rebirth and joint finances. Many people
travel to Las Vegas to gamble as well as to see entertainment. And Mars in
Virgo fell in the 4th house of beginnings and endings in life. The ascendant for the time of the shooting
was 21 degrees of Gemini, which symbolized how this shooting affected so many
different people. The midheaven was in 0
degrees of Pisces and I instinctively felt that this represented the very
public role of the victims. The moon was
in 25 degrees of Aquarius conjunct the south node of the moon in 21 degrees of
Aquarius, which probably explained the level of planning and detachment that
Stephen Paddock, the shooter exhibited in carrying out his mission. I was also deeply troubled by the fact that
the moon was conjunct the midheaven in 0 degrees of Pisces. This seemed to
reinforce the theme that the perpetrator was completely detached and had
absolutely no compassion for his victims. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge,
there is no time of birth available for Stephen Paddock, but his birth date is
April 9, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa.
And then of course there was the aspect of Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries. They were exact in 27 degrees and this energy could have set off Stephen Paddock's Saturn Neptune conjunction in Libra that opposed his natal Venus in 25 degrees of Aries and his sun in 19 degrees of Aries. Aspects between Jupiter and Uranus can bring sudden and swift events that seem to come out of the blue. As of this writing, there has not been a motive discovered for this violent act. The only thing we know for sure is that Stephen Paddock was experiencing some mental health issues.
And then of course there was the aspect of Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries. On October 4, 2017, we experienced one aspect that I felt
offered us the opportunity to begin the process of moving on from this tragedy.

But Pluto continued to be a major player in the
astrological drama of the full moon. On
October 5, 2017 I tweeted:
Pluto kicks it up a notch again on October 9, 2017 when the sun and Mercury in 15 degrees of Libra are forming a square to Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn. We could be facing another day of intense power struggles.Powerful #fullmoon in ♈️ today that squares Pluto in ♑️. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel when
Jupiter enters the sign of Scorpio on October 10, 2017 and stays there until
November 8, 2018. Scorpios are bound to
be rejoicing when Jupiter the Great Benefic and Bestower of Good Luck (or as I
prefer to call him, the astrological Santa Claus) enters its sun sign. All of the water signs will benefit (let’s
hear it for Cancers and Pisces), as well as the earth signs of Capricorn,
Taurus and Virgo, courtesy of Jupiter in Scorpio forming an easygoing sextile
to Pluto in Virgo. This sextile will
give tremendous power to Jupiter because Pluto is Scorpio’s ruling planet. We will be feeling the effects of this sextile
on January 8-21, 2018, April 7-22, 2018 and September 7-18, 2018.
What are the areas of expansion that Jupiter in Scorpio
will rule? Jupiter in Scorpio will see
expansion in sexuality, death, rebirth, transformation, the greater mysteries
in life, joint finances and taxes. Maybe
we will finally get some positive changes in our tax laws. Major themes with Jupiter in Scorpio include
using power to heal others and receiving resources from others. Jupiter in Scorpio will nudge us to dig deep
and regenerate ourselves. The last time
Jupiter transited the sign of Scorpio was from October 26, 2005 through
November 23, 2006. You might find it
helpful to think back to what was happening in your life back then and see if
any similar issues crop up.
Jupiter in Scorpio will also be forming a beneficial trine
to Neptune in Pisces from November 28- December 5, 2017, May 20 –June 1, 2018
and August 12 – 23, 2018. Jupiter trining Neptune is a boon for psychic sensitivity,
prophetic dreams and feelings of compassion will intensify. This aspect is really a blessing.
One of the most encouraging facts about this particular
Jupiter in Scorpio transit is that unlike the recent transit of Jupiter in
Libra, which was anything but harmonious, there are no challenging aspects from
the outer planets. Jupiter in Libra
faced a tough opposition to Uranus in Aries and a square to Pluto in Capricorn. For many people, this seemed to perpetuate
the effects of the Uranus Pluto squares that pervaded the astrological
landscape from 2012 through 2015.
Jupiter in Scorpio will be playing nice with Pluto and Uranus, which is
a welcome relief.
For me personally, Jupiter in Scorpio will begin its
transit in my 1st house, conjuncting my natal Mercury in Scorpio on
October 10th and then conjuncting my natal Pallas and Saturn in
Scorpio in early December. But it moves
into my 2nd house on December 24th (Merry Christmas) and
then conjuncts my Scorpio sun in January 2018.
