What a difference a day makes! On October 26, 2017 the sun and Jupiter
conjuncted in 2 degrees of Scorpio, inspiring me to tweet:
But on October 27, 2017 Venus in Libra will be forming a very challenging square with Pluto in Capricorn. This aspect is a whole different ballgame, trust me. I have it natally with my Venus in Scorpio squaring Pluto in Leo. Venus squaring Pluto can produce an intensity of feelings that lead to obsession and stalking. These actions can arise from feelings of wanting to control a relationship or from insecurities that the relationship will end. Either way, this aspect can lead to manipulative and controlling actions.Let the good times roll today as sun & Jupiter conjunct in Scorpio. These are extreme feelings that can lead to deep
transformation but the changes can manifest as revenge sex, jealousy or
downright manipulation. Power and
control issues can surface in relationships, so watch out for jealousy and extreme
possessiveness. And this is where this
aspect ties into the Scorpio energy of intensity, passion and obsession. There is never a middle ground with a Scorpio
and they tend to inspire feelings of love or hate. Scorpio can be the most
loyal friend, but the most lethal enemy if they have been crossed (or if they feel
that they have been betrayed).
The second image in this post is from the movie Duel in the
Sun made in 1946. I am including it in
this post because I remember my astrologer teacher describing a Venus Pluto
square as the type of relationship that this movie portrayed. This image is from the end of the movie when
the two protagonists, Jennifer Jones and Gregory Peck, die in each other’s
arms. I know that it is a very old
western movie and somewhat melodramatic, but the gist of the theme was that
Gregory Peck’s character Lewt Bell was sexually obsessed with Jennifer Jones’
character, Pearl Chavez, who was half American Indian. He refused to marry her but when she became
engaged to another man, he killed him, insisting that Pearl could only belong
to him. Lewt’s brother Jesse, portrayed by Joseph Cotton, was also attracted to
Pearl but he treated her respectfully and eventually married another
woman. However, when Jesse tried to help
Pearl, he was shot by Lewt but survived. Pearl discovered that Lewt would try
again to kill Jesse, so she arms herself and engages in a shootout with Lewt in
the desert and they die in each other’s arms.
Sounds pretty sick and twisted, doesn’t it? Hardly what you would call a healthy
relationship. But I have to agree with my astrology teacher that it does
illustrate the damage that can occur as a result of jealousy, obsession and
possessiveness. I never forgot that
description of the Venus square Pluto aspect and the damage it can wreak. The
point I am trying to make is that under the influence of this aspect, unhealthy
or unstable relationships could break down.
Venus may be in its home sign of Libra, considered to be
sweet and accommodating, but Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, is in Capricorn, a
sign that loves to be in control. I am
just warning everyone that relationships can get pretty intense with this
aspect as issues of control and power rear their ugly heads. We do have one ace in the hole on this day,
however. Mercury in Scorpio is sextiling
Pluto in Capricorn, so there is potential for deeper truths to be revealed
without involving all of that drama if we are mindful.
Halloween, the unofficial Scorpio holiday, features a
Pisces moon this year. Moon in Pisces is perfect for Halloween, as it is
dreamy, mysterious and escapist. It
should fuel some pretty creative costumes.
The Pisces moon also conjuncts Chiron, which should help us heal old
wounds and it sextiles Pluto in Capricorn, which can feel very empowering. All in all, there are no really tough aspects
on Halloween, so it should be an enjoyable holiday.
