Venus has been in the sign of Cancer since July 18th and
will continue its transit of this sentimental water sign until August 12th. How
does Venus in Cancer manifest? It conjures up the past and the nurturing we
received from others, but it also has a tendency to bring up feelings of
isolation and engage in a pity party. The cry of "Oh woe is me"
can be a major theme.
Missing old friends is another common theme when Venus is in
Cancer because emotions literally feel like a tidal wave. The flip side of this
is that we can become extremely defensive to avoid being hurt. Remember that
symbol of Cancer the crab with the hard shell? Dependency issues and irrational
moods reign supreme when Venus is in Cancer, but it can also be a heightened
time of personal creativity.
I think that the real evidence of the emotional depth of
Venus in Cancer began on July 27th when Venus opposed Pluto in 11 degrees of
Capricorn. The aspect occurred very late, at 11:39 p.m., so its effects were in
full force on July 28th as well.
On July 27th I tweeted that:
"Obsessions and jealousy can rule the day as Venus in Cancer
opposes Pluto in Capricorn. Watch out for power struggles."
My tweets of July 28th also pertained to the Venus Pluto
opposition.
"Venus Pluto opposition still in effect today with potential for
painful transformation in relationships. Don't get hooked into revenge."
"Letting go and stepping back may be best way of dealing with
intense energy today. Patience and cool head are required.
#transformation"
July 28th was an emotionally wrenching and painful day for
me. It was my beloved maternal grandmother's birthday and even though she died
a few days before my 8th birthday in 1962, I have fond memories of her and the
unconditional love she provided me. It was also the 11th anniversary of the
adoption of a rescued greyhound who tragically died three years later one month
to the day of my mother's death. Talk about an emotionally loaded day - what a
perfect example of Venus in Cancer!
On July 28th I also had a psychic reading which confirmed a
lot of my own instincts regarding letting go of a certain painful situation in
my life. Yes, even though I am psychic, it is nearly impossible to do a reading
for myself objectively. But the reading also gave me a valuable message: that while
I was indeed a healer and chose to see the light in people, I needed to realize
that doesn't mean I could rescue them. That is a valid part of my journey in
transitioning from enabling to empowering others.
On July 31st Venus in 15 degrees of Cancer squared Uranus in
16 degrees of Aries. A major theme of this tension filled, challenging aspect
was awareness of the need for independence and individuality. It inspired me to
tweet:
“Venus squaring Uranus today sets the stage for emotional drama and
frustration over needs for independence.”
Mercury finally left the sign of emotional Cancer at 6:46
p.m. on July 31st after an extended stay in that sign due to the
Mercury retrograde in June. Hopefully,
with Mercury in Leo communications will be more upbeat, enthusiastic and
fun-loving. But the moon entered the
sign of Libra on the 31st, so we can expect that to feed the energy
of that Venus Uranus square this weekend.
But August 1st blesses us with a grand water trine featuring
Venus in 16 degrees of Cancer, Chiron in 17 degrees of Pisces and Saturn in 16
degrees in Scorpio. Once again, I am indebted to Pam Younghans for her
brilliant interpretation of this aspect. She describes the power of these three
planets working together as Venus taking care of emotional needs, Saturn
exploring our deeper needs and desires with courage and honesty, and Chiron
letting go of burdens and dramas in life as we reconnect with our spiritual
core and trust life's unfolding tapestry. Check her out at:
How is this grand water trine playing out in my chart?
Saturn is still on my Lilith prompting me to transcend my shadow side (Lilith
represents the darker side of the moon); Chiron is in my 6th house squaring my
moon in the 8th house, and Venus is squaring my ascendant, which is by no means
an unpleasant transit, although self-discipline is not one of its strong
points! Venus is about to exit my 9th house and enter my 10th house, which is a
positive transit for both personal and professional matters. It is a highly
emotional, transformative time yet it holds promise.
If you are feeling confused during these challenging times
and curious as to how Saturn and Uranus are affecting you or want to know more
