Reality Bites as the Sun Faces off with Saturn but Empowerment and Enlightenment are Possible with Mercury Trining Pluto and Uranus

 

The month of August continues at a breakneck pace.  We have already experienced the Mars/Uranus/North Node conjunction on August 1 and on August 11 we had a Super Full Moon in Aquarius that squared Uranus in Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

The Full Moon in Aquarius also squared Mars in Taurus and conjuncted Saturn in Aquarius, so I am not kidding when I said it was no lightweight.  It exactly squared my Sun in Scorpio, so it was no walk in the park for me.  I am sure that anyone with planets in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio felt the wallop from this Full Moon.

On August 14, we have two more powerful aspects affecting us.  The Sun in Leo will be opposing Saturn in 21 degrees of Aquarius and Mars in Taurus will be trining Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn.  When the Sun opposes Saturn, we will get a major reality check.  Frustrations abound, as do restrictions and hardships.  Our energy levels could be low and feeling depressed is quite common when the Sun and Saturn are in such a hard aspect.  Our self-esteem could be somewhat shaken too.  Saturn in a harsh aspect to the Sun has a way of increasing our insecurities as we face delays in achieving goals.  Just remember that it is normal to feel overwhelmed and pressured with this aspect in play.  Try to be patient with yourself and others.  The most constructive use of this energy is to set some boundaries in our relationships.  Saturn is all about structures and rules, so it loves boundaries.  Just lean into that vibe and we should survive this latest hit.

Mars in Taurus is trining Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn on the same day.  This will be a much more pleasant aspect to deal with and hopefully it will mitigate some of the harsher features of the Sun/Saturn opposition occurring on the 14th.  Mars trining Pluto bestows strength, courage and tenacity to help us work toward implementing change.  And we all know that change is the name of the game these days; it is simply unavoidable.  The problem has been that it is not happening on our personal timetable and it's damned uncomfortable while we are in the process.  But Mars trining Pluto has a way of increasing our passion and making us feel empowered to initiate the transformation we are all craving.  So bring it on...

On August 16, we have another treat in store for us.  Mercury in Virgo is trining Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  This one can really deliver on the enlightenment as our minds will be open to new possibilities and exciting news could emerge. It increases the likelihood of positive breaking news, which we all could use more of these days.  Mental breakthroughs are possible and we will probably be feeling more psychic.  This aspect is also favorable for technological advances too.  The Internet should literally be abuzz on this day in a good way. Don't hesitate to venture out of your comfort zone on this day.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Super Full Moon in Aquarius and Venus Enters Leo

We are all still feeling the effects of the Uranus/Mars/North Node conjunctions in Taurus that took place on July 31 and August 1.  The bottom line is that this volatile and unpredictable energy will continue through August 14.  Anyone with planets in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius is feeling this vibe the most intensely.  Fixed signs are resistant to change unless they are initiating it and let's face it, these days we are not in control of the changes that are happening.  The only thing we can control is our attitude towards these events. On August 11, we have two more planetary events occurring in fixed signs: another Super Full Moon, when the Moon is closer to the Earth making it appear larger than normal, in 19 degrees of Aquarius, and Venus enters the fixed fire sign of Leo.

But we have a couple of other important astrological aspects occurring on August 7 that help to set the stage for the events of August 11.  The first is Venus in Cancer forming an exact trine with Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces.  This is actually quite positive and will be quite favorable for compassion, creativity and inspiring forgiveness.  We need all of the positive aspects we can get during these challenging times, so make the most of it.  But going back to that fixed planet energy, we also have Mars in Taurus squaring Saturn in 22 degrees of Aquarius.  I have a natal Mars/Saturn involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio, so I am not exactly the biggest fan of this aspect.  My experience of it has been more of frustration over wanting to take action but being held back.  It can also feel somewhat isolating and/or depressing at times.  But I honestly believe that this is one time when Mars squaring Saturn can be a good thing.  How so?  Well, it can actually be used constructively to set some boundaries.  We all know that we need to move forward and make some changes, but Mars in Taurus is not exactly impulsive and spontaneous; that description pertains more to Mars in its own sign of Aries.  Mars in Taurus is a planner and plods along slowly to make changes that have a solid foundation.  But Saturn in Aquarius is able to come up with ingenious ways of solving problems and let's face it, Saturn is all about creating structures and boundaries.  Saturn is also retrograde, so it's a perfect time to go within and come up with ideas about the boundaries we need to create to empower the changes we need to make.  We all need to remember that while change is unavoidable, with all of this emphasis on fixed signs, it has to happen more slowly because we are building new foundations for our future.  So let's see if we can harness the energy of this aspect constructively.

The Full Moon in 19 degrees of Aquarius will be triggering the recent Uranus/Mars/North Node conjunction in Taurus.  This Full Moon can bring us some breakthroughs from the recent Mars/Uranus strife, but since Uranus rules the sign of Aquarius, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some incidents involving power outages, hacking, and Internet slowdowns because the Moon is squaring Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  The Full Moon is also squaring Mars in 25 degrees of Taurus, which can bring more conflicts.  It is also conjunct Saturn in 22 degrees of Aquarius, which could involve some feelings of depression, but it can also be positive for building networks and creating a sense of community, which are all Aquarian themes.

On the Full Moon, we have six planets in signs: the Sun and Venus in Leo, Moon and Saturn in Aquarius and Mars and Uranus in Taurus.  With all of this fixed energy, there is a strong likelihood of control issues coming up. Let us not forget that the Nodes of the Moon are in Taurus (North Node) and Scorpio (South Node) are also in fixed signs.  But the perk of all this fixed energy is that we will have more determination, focus and tenacity.  Mars in 25 degrees of  Taurus is also trining Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn, which can give us laser focus to empower us.  Full Moons also have a theme of completion, so it might be helpful for us to review what we began on the New Moon in 12 degrees of  Aquarius on February 1.  Has it reached a stage of culmination or is it time to end whatever we began because it has outlived its usefulness or served its purpose?

As I have stated previously, the fixed signs will be bearing the brunt of this Full Moon.  It is squaring my Sun and Venus in Scorpio and conjunct my Mars in Aquarius, so I know exactly what kind of wild card energy I am dealing with. Just a heads up to anyone with planets in 18-25 degrees of Taurus, Leo. Scorpio and Aquarius...  And I would definitely factor in an Ascendant, Node of the Moon and Midheaven in the fixed signs to this mix.

Venus enters Leo about seven hours before the Full Moon and is in the fixed fire sign until September 5.  When Venus is in Leo, romance becomes more dramatic with big gestures and lots of pride and passion.  We are craving admiration and attention.  We could be extremely generous with our loved ones and experience an urge to splurge because we are into luxury now, so watch those credit cards.  But we are also more creative, warm-hearted and tend to wear our hearts on our sleeves.  It can be a very enjoyable transit, so have some fun with it.

A Really Big Week as Uranus and Mars Conjunct the North Node in Taurus and Mercury Enters Virgo

 

Unless you have been living under a rock, you are probably aware that there is a life-changing astrological pile-up coming on July 31 and August 1.  Yes, folks, Uranus will conjunct the North Node in 18 degrees of Taurus on July 31st and Mars will conjunct the North Node on August 1st. Uranus usually conjuncts the North Node approximately every 15 years and the last time was in Pisces back in March and April of 2007.  I don't know about you, but I certainly was experiencing massive changes and a fair amount of turmoil in my life back then.  Uranus has not been conjunct the North Node in Taurus since 1855 and Mars was not involved with these two since 1458.  The last time Mars was included in this mix, there were a lot of volcanoes. Uranus has an 84-year cycle and its previous transit in Taurus was from 1934-1942, which was a time of upheaval that brought massive changes in the world order.  Nothing like a Great Depression, the rise of fascism, and World War II to revolutionize your life.

The exact dates of these conjunctions are July 31 and August 1, but the effects will be present for up to two weeks before and after these dates.  I know that many people, myself included, have been feeling anxious and uneasy about the changes that are coming.  It's also normal to feel sad and overwhelmed by this energy. It will feel chaotic, so we need to be prepared.  We are bound to hear news that is upsetting but we have to move forward and release what is no longer serving us.  Mercury in Leo has been a key player in this action because it squared Mars in Taurus on July 26, which could have led to some angry outbursts.  It also squared Uranus in Taurus on the New Moon of July 28, which further amplified the tone of disruptive communication. Mercury in Leo will be opposing Saturn in Aquarius on July 31 and will be inconjunct Neptune in Pisces on August 1.  This all contributes to the theme of hearing fake, confusing or unpleasant news that could have restrictive influences on our lives. There is a new world order coming and rebirth is at hand.  But as I have frequently noticed in my own life, rebirth ain't always pretty.  I have found myself thinking back to the Uranus-Pluto squares of 2012-2015 and I realized that the only way I came out of this period without losing my mind was by surrendering to it, leaning into that energy and accepting it.

Uranus in Taurus conjunct the North Node in Taurus will bring awakening and breakthroughs as it pushes for freedom.  This is extremely volatile energy that will push us out of our comfort zone.  Weather disruptions will probably continue.  We can't forget that the North Node is our collective destiny and a North Node in Taurus is bound to affect money and structures. Our material world is undergoing massive changes and transformation.  I hope we don't have a stock market crash, but I wouldn't be surprised if it or some other financial downturn did occur. This is quite literally a collision of rebellion and destiny.  It can bring spiritual growth but it also represents the end of a karmic cycle.  

Mars in Taurus joins Uranus and the North Node in Taurus on August 1.  This could increase the likelihood of volcanoes, fires or earthquakes.  Violence is also associated with Mars in Taurus.  The last time Mars entered Taurus was on January 6, 2021.  Mars joining Uranus and the North Node will bring passion, anger, heat and impulsive behavior.  Civil unrest, protests and restlessness abound. It adds a whole new layer of complexity to the mix. Saturn in 22 degrees of Aquarius is also squaring Mars, Uranus and the North Node, creating a sense of frustration and impatience that is pretty tough to deal with.  It also makes us work harder to get what we want.  Yes, a new way of life is coming but it won't come easily and we need to acknowledge that.  The United States is still in the throes of its Pluto Return, which won't officially be over until November 19, 2024 when Pluto finally enters the sign of Aquarius.  Pluto does initially enter Aquarius on March 23, 2023, but due to its retrograde motion, it slips back into Capricorn in June 2023.  Power imbalances are being addressed in the United States Pluto Return, as they were in 1776.

If you have planets from 16 to 20 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, you are really feeling the heat of this Uranus/Mars/North Node conjunction in Taurus.  The Taurus gang is transiting my 8th house opposing my Scorpio Sun and Black Moon Lilith in my 2nd house. Everyone knows that fixed signs don't like change unless they are the ones initiating it and these days it is a pretty safe bet to say that we have no control over the changes that are happening now.  All we can do is to work on changing our attitudes.  The bottom line is that whatever happens during the next couple of weeks will have a major impact on our collective future. 

On July 31, 2022, we do have one very bright astrological bright spot accompanying the Uranus/North Node conjunction in Taurus.  The Sun in Leo is exactly trining Jupiter in 8 degrees of Aries.  Okay, Jupiter has been retrograde since the New Moon in Leo on July 28, but we will take it.  When the Sun is trining Jupiter, enthusiasm and self-confidence are running high and we find it easier to get along with others.  There is also the potential for financial gains, so don't count yourself out yet. I am a big fan of the Serenity Prayer and I can't think of a time when it is needed more.  In case you are not familiar with it, here it is:

"God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference."

On August 4, 2022, Mercury enters its happy place when it moves into Virgo.  Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, so it is very comfortable in these signs.  Mercury zips through Virgo very quickly, departing on August 25.  But while Mercury is in Virgo, we can channel that analytical energy into problem-solving to implement positive changes.  We are also more detail-oriented and our communication is more efficient.  Just exercise a little mindfulness in terms of being too critical towards others while Mercury is in Virgo. Try to be kind to others during these challenging times and utilize the service to others component of Mercury in Virgo.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Leo Season is Officially Here as the Sun Enters Leo, a New Moon in Leo and Jupiter Stations Retrograde

 

The season of Leo is officially here on July 22 when the Sun enters Leo at 4:07 pm.  Mercury entered Leo on July 19, when I tweeted:

The Sun rules Leo, so it is extremely comfortable in this sign.  It is a playful, exuberant time when we can let our inner child out to play and have some fun.  It's no coincidence that many people take vacations while the Sun is in Leo. We feel proud, outgoing and generous.  Whatever house Leo falls in your chart is where you will shine and attract attention.  It starts out in my 10th house of career and public standing and then moves into my 11th house of friendships, group associations and long-term goals on August 11.  But we do need to be mindful of the shadow side of the Sun in Leo: a tendency to be vain and self-centered.

On July 28 we have a juicy New Moon in 5 degrees of Leo.  A New Moon in Leo has a very creative and potentially romantic vibe that affords us the opportunity to set new intentions in whatever area of life it falls in your natal chart.  If it falls in your 5th or 7th house the theme of romance and a fresh start in love is doubly emphasized.  If you are not sure where this New Moon falls in your chart, please consider getting an astrological reading with me.

This New Moon is not making a lot of aspects, however.  Mercury in 18 degrees of Leo is exactly squaring Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus, which could play out in surprising news involving communication and travel.  I wouldn't be surprised if technology factors into this New Moon quite prominently and delivers some breakthroughs.  I have this aspect natally and I can attest to the fact that it is a bid of a wild card. The New Moon in Leo is also trining Jupiter in 8 degrees of  Aries, which should put us in a good mood and make it easier to share our feelings, express more generosity and be inclined to socialize.

Jupiter in Aries is also stationing retrograde at 4:37 pm on the day of the New Moon.  Jupiter will make one last pit stop in Pisces on October 28, station direct in 28 degrees of  Pisces on November 23 and return to Aries on December 20, 2022.  When Jupiter is retrograde, we could experience inflation and some conflicts.  It is inclined towards spiritual introspection and reflection.  Jupiter is also associated with finding the truth and you might discover that your truth differs from other people.  Look to where Jupiter is transiting in your chart.  It is in my 6th house and I know that I need to be reflecting on my health and daily routines.  When Jupiter is retrograde, you pretty much need to make your own luck and act on the inspirations that you receive when Jupiter goes direct.  Jupiter retrograde is not as bad as Mercury retrograde, but it still has the effect of slowing you down somewhat to reevaluate how you want to grow and expand in your life.  This can be a very good thing because it forces you to examine what hasn't been working for you so that you can implement new strategies and achieve success when Jupiter is direct.

Personal Planets on the Move as Venus Sails into Cancer and Mercury Enters Leo

 

We are just coming off of an extremely emotional Super Full Moon in Capricorn that occurred on July 13.  On that day I tweeted:

But we should be prepared for more emotional drama to unfold.  Two of the personal planets, Venus and Mercury, are about to change signs.  Venus is personal because it pertains to how we love and Mercury is personal in terms of how we communicate. Venus changes signs first, when it leaves the chatty air sign of Gemini and enters the cardinal water sign of Cancer on July 17 and stays there until August 11.  Mercury moves from Cancer to Leo on July 19 and zips through the fixed fire sign at breakneck speed before it enters Virgo on August 4.

When Venus is in Cancer, our emotional security becomes a priority.  Emotions are bound to surface with Venus in a sensitive water sign and it's no accident that the Moon is also in the water sign of Pisces on the 17th when Venus sails into Cancer.  We will be dealing with a lot of release, so don't be surprised if you find yourself crying when Venus is in Cancer.  Let it out. There will be ups and downs as the Moon changes signs every couple of days but hopefully we will also be experiencing more compassion and sympathy for others during this transit. We are getting in touch with our dreams and desires now.  The perk of this transit is that we are more likely to take action on those dreams with Venus in a water sign.  That's what water signs do.  Venus in Gemini may have talked a good game, but Venus in Cancer wants to experience those feelings and make them real.

Mercury in Cancer makes one final aspect on July 18 that is quite potent.  It opposes Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  This can play out as a battle of ideas that manifests in blow-ups and arguments.  Try to channel this energy into research activities and self-analysis.  It is a very favorable aspect for doing some therapy. Mercury will be conjunct my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer on that day, so it should be interesting...

Mercury in Leo is very creative and dramatic as we are prone to think big.  We come across as more confident in our communication.  It can lead to grand romantic gestures too. But the shadow side of Mercury in Leo can lead to tempers flaring and we aren't as adept at listening to others.  We might also tend to overlook small details because our focus is on the big picture with Mercury in Leo.

There is more planetary movement on July 19. Chiron is stationing retrograde in 16 degrees of Aries on that day.  Chiron is retrograde until December 23, 2022 when it stations direct in 11 degrees of Aries. When Chiron is retrograde, we have the opportunity to access our deepest emotional wounds and reflect on them so that we can use them as a source of power and healing. Chiron retrograde is also an optimal time for therapy.  Chiron retrograde is a much more subtle transit than Mercury retrograde and can be quite beneficial, so please don't be scared of this retrograde.
