Retrograde Mercury Re-Enters Virgo, a New Moon in Libra and Venus Moves into Libra

 

We are still in the thick of Mercury retrograde, folks, until October 2, but on September 23, retrograde Mercury moves from Libra into Virgo.  Mercury retrograde in Libra could have seen us reworking issues in our relationships but its entrance into Virgo has a different flavor.  Mercury was previously in Virgo from August 4th through August 25th, so this time around we might find ourselves analyzing plans and information that surfaced back in August. Reconsidering plans will probably be a major theme. Mercury rules the sign of Virgo, so it is actually quite comfortable here.  The shadow side of Mercury in Virgo is that we could have a tendency to be somewhat self-critical because criticism is very much associated with the sign of Virgo. Try not to be too hard on yourself now.  Another possible manifestation of Mercury in Virgo is that we could be focusing on health issues and obtaining more information about any troubling symptoms we have been experiencing.  Rest assured that relief is on the way with Mercury stationing direct in 24 degrees of Virgo on October 2 and moving back into Libra on October 10.

The Sun moved into Libra on September 22 officially kicking off the Fall season and the Fall Equinox.  On September 25, we have a New Moon in 2 degrees of Libra.  The New Moon in Libra will definitely offer us the opportunity to make a fresh start in relationships.  I hope that you are able to set some intentions on the New Moon by writing down what you want to invite into your life.  It can be a very empowering process and you can create your own ritual.  I like to meditate during my New Moon ritual of stating my intentions to the universe.

The only major aspect that the New Moon in Libra makes is an opposition to Jupiter in 3 degrees of Aries, but like the planet Jupiter, it can have a big payoff.  We all know that Jupiter is associated with joy, growth and expansion, but these days it also pertains to a universal theme of inflation. So having the Sun and Moon in Libra opposing Jupiter in Aries can create a great deal of enthusiasm and optimism.   Jupiter is forming a tense semi-square with Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus, which can create some financial turbulence.  And it also forms a semi-square aspect with Saturn in 19 degrees of Aquarius, which will generate its own tension over issues that have to do with existing structures.  The bottom line with Jupiter aspecting both Saturn and Uranus is that is activating that old Saturn-Uranus square aspect that ruled the astrological roost in 2021.  Saturn and Uranus were exactly square on February 17, June 14 and December 24 of 2021, but they will be getting pretty close again between late September and early November 2022.  The closest that they get is on October 4 when Saturn is in 18 degrees of Aquarius and Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  This is activating the theme of a trial of strength as we try to navigate the battle between preserving the old structures represented by Saturn and implementing the changes that Uranus is clamoring for.

The New Moon in Libra will also have a lot of mental energy present.  Mercury will be in 27 degrees of Virgo and Venus will be in 25 degrees of Virgo on the New Moon, so don't be surprised if there is a lot of talk going on in relationships.  Venus in Virgo was opposing Neptune in 23 degrees of Pisces on September 24, which could have made our perceptions of relationships a bit foggy.  Or it could manifest in an AHA moment that brings inspiration.  Some of us might decide to quit a job or relationship as a result of the Venus-Neptune opposition.  Mercury in Virgo will also be opposing Neptune in Pisces, which could lead to some over idealism and a lack of clarity in relationships.  But Mercury in Virgo is trining Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn on the New Moon, so we should take advantage of this energy to dig deep for answers in relationships because this is a powerful aspect.

Venus in 25 degrees of Virgo and Mercury in 27 degrees of Virgo are involved in a T-square with Mars in 18 degrees of Gemini on the New Moon as well.  This just adds to the level of mental energy present. Our minds are running on a full tank thanks to the adrenaline boost that Mars in Gemini is providing.

On September 29, Venus moves into its happy place when it enters Libra.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is fully able to express itself when it is either one of these signs.  Venus remains in Libra until October 23.  Venus in Libra employs charm rather than aggression to get what it wants.  It is a very social vibe and we will probably find ourselves more willing to negotiate and compromise in relationships.  We also adopt a more idealistic perspective about love which can get us in a bit of trouble if we are not careful.  We also need to be mindful of falling into the rabbit hole of passive-aggressive behavior when Venus is in Libra.  Venus in Libra loves beauty and the arts too.  The shadow side of this affinity for luxury is a tendency to spend too much money, so watch those credit cards...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Relationships Take the Stage with Venus Squaring Mars and Trining Uranus and the Sun Entering Libra

 

Relationships are taking center stage with a great deal of Venus action and the Sun moving into Libra on September 22.  We start off on September 16 with Venus in Virgo forming an exact square to Mars in 14 degrees of Gemini.  This aspect can increase our sex drive, but if we have experiencing any tensions in our relationships, it can create more difficulties as it tends to exacerbate anger, impulsiveness and a lack of self-control. It can have a rather grumpy vibe.  I know that I will be feeling this aspect because Mars is exactly conjunct my Moon in Gemini in the 8th house.

The Sun in Virgo is also in an exact opposition to Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces on September 16.  This aspect can manifest in low energy and feelings of vulnerability, insecurity and general discouragement.  We are very susceptible to con artists on this day, so if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So there is no doubt that this will impact relationships.  It will be very easy to get seduced on this day and have nothing to show for it.  The plus side of this aspect is that can bring bursts of creativity and inspiration.  Once again, I am in the line of fire with this action because the Virgo Sun is forming a supportive sextile to my Venus in Scorpio while Neptune is trining it.  But I think I will still need to be careful with finances.  

In case you have been living under a rock, Mercury stationed retrograde on September 9th.  It started out in Libra, which is bound to affect communication in relationships but it enters Virgo on September 23 and stations direct in 24 degrees of Virgo on October 2.   On September 18, retrograde Mercury in Libra will be exactly opposing Jupiter in 4 degrees of Aries.  If this sounds familiar, that is because we previously experienced this aspect on September 2nd.  The characteristics of this aspect are grandiose plans, lack of clarity and a tendency to gloss over details.  This is take two of this aspect and we get to experience it again on October 12 when Mercury is direct and Jupiter is still retrograde in Aries.

On September 20, Venus in Virgo is exactly trining Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  I have a natal Venus/Uranus trine involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer, so I am very familiar with this energy.  We are going to be craving excitement and something new in our lives on this day.  It tends to stimulate our craving for variety and something different.  However, bear in mind that if you do meet someone new at this time, it might not last due to the nature of Uranus being sudden and brief.

The Fall Equinox occurs on September 22 when the Sun enters Libra.  When the Sun is in the cardinal air sign of Libra, our focus is geared towards relationships as we are more open to compromise and negotiation.  We also tend to be more social and tactful, which is always appreciated.  But there is a shadow side to the Sun in Libra: decision-making is more challenging as Libra is the sign that loves to weigh all of the options and that can take forever.  We can also be more superficial and engage in passive-aggressive behavior.  Don't forget that the Sun is considered to be in Fall in Libra because it has a hard time asserting itself due to its need to define itself through relationships.  The Sun is considered to be exalted in Aries because Aries generally has no problems with self-assertion.

Mercury Retrograde is Here and a Full Moon in Pisces

 

 

This week will definitely deliver some upsets with Mercury stationing retrograde in 8 degrees of Libra on September 10 followed by a Full Moon in 17 degrees of Pisces on the 11th.  

Mercury entered its retrograde shadow on August 20 in 24 degrees of Virgo.  That's right, folks, this is one of those Mercury retrogrades that starts in one sign and goes into another. Mercury retrograde starts off in Libra, but it enters Virgo on September 23.  This means that the start of Mercury retrograde will heavily impact relationships but by the time it gets into Virgo, it will affect information that might not be accurate and cause us to do some heavy analyzing.  The usual Mercury retrograde characteristics will also be present: people from our past turning up, cars, computers, and phones breaking down, as well as missed appointments and transit woes.  I don't know about you, but I have been feeling the effects of the retrograde shadow for some time now.  I have had my share of electrical snafus and on Sunday Amazon delivered a baby blanket instead of the sneakers that I had ordered.  Fortunately this matter has been rectified.  And then there is Twitter: for the past week or so, if you try to look at your Tweet activity, you get this message: "You may only view analytics about your own Tweets."  I am not holding my breath on this one getting fixed before Mercury stations direct in 24 degrees of Virgo on October 2. For those of you who are interested, Mercury clears its retrograde shadow on October 17 in 8 degrees of Libra.  The coast is finally clear then.

The Full Moon in 17 degrees of Pisces on the 11th is a complicated one.  It will definitely be super emotional falling in a water sign but we can expect a great deal of confusion with it.  There is also what I call a mutable mash of planets on the Full Moon: the Sun and Venus in Virgo, the Moon and Neptune in Pisces, and Mars in Gemini. The Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces will be widely squaring Mars in Gemini, so it is a player.   Mars has already entered its retrograde shadow on September 3, and it stations retrograde in 25 degrees of Gemini on October 30.  Mars will be retrograde until January 12, 2023 but will remain in Gemini until March 25, 2023.  We could be dealing with a lot of do-overs during this Mars in Gemini transit. The mutable signs are known for their flexibility and adaptability but this combination of mutable planets can create confusion and a feeling that you don't exactly know what is going on.  Adding to the mix on the Full Moon, Mercury retrograde in 8 degrees of Libra is opposing retrograde Jupiter in 5 degrees of Aries.  We might be hearing some news about legal developments with this aspect in play.

What else is happening on this Full Moon? Full Moons have a reputation for revealing secrets and sometimes bringing closure and completion to a situation.  This Full Moon is widely conjunct Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces, which can be quite inspirational, compassionate and lend a very spiritual vibe.  I would urge everyone to pay attention to their dreams on the Full Moon.  It is also forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus, which can bring some surprising events and positive changes.  And Uranus is conjunct the North Node in 16 degrees in Taurus, further emphasizing that we are being propelled forward into our collective destiny.  The changes that appear could be shocking, but I think that ultimately it will all turn out for the best.  And the Full Moon also forms a supportive sextile to Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn, which further reinforces the theme of transformation.  Thank God that this Full Moon is in an easy aspect to Pluto and is not a challenging square or opposition. Transformation is never easy so we will take whatever help we can get from the planets in navigating this path.

Personally, I am still a bit apprehensive about this Full Moon.  On the surface, it looks good because it trines my Sun and Venus in Scorpio as well as my Cancer Midheaven. But I have a Gemini Moon, so you guessed it, it is forming a square to my natal Moon in the 8th house.  The 8th house is messy, involving the themes of death, joint finances, intimacy and transformation.  It involves a lot of stuff that we don't always have control over because it pertains to others.  On top of that, the Sun moves into my 12th house on September 10 and this is one of my least favorite transits.  When the Sun transits your 12th house, energy levels are low and you tend to need more rest. I am more susceptible to colds, viruses and getting sick at this time. I have already scheduled a flu shot and plan to get my next COVID booster shot in early October.  It is a time when we need alone time and tend to reflect on the previous year. I am eagerly anticipating the Sun entering my 1st house on October 10, but I will have to survive the Full Moon in Aries on October 9.  Stay tuned...

A Relatively Quiet Week as Mercury Spars with Jupiter and Venus Enters Virgo

 

Surprise, surprise, the first week of September is relatively quiet astrologically.  It began on an extremely positive note on September 1 when Mars in Gemini formed a supportive sextile to Jupiter in Aries imbuing us with a boatload of energy and a sense of luck.

On September 2 Mercury in Libra is in an exact opposition to Jupiter in 6 degrees of Aries.  We all know that Jupiter loves to do things in an expansive way.  This aspect is bound to bring big ideas and grandiose plans with a sense of optimism for the future.  Sounds pretty good, right?  Just be mindful of the fact that we could have a tendency to gloss over the details.  And by all means, be careful what you say.  Mercury in Libra (which is slowing down for its retrograde station on September 9) loves to talk but Jupiter in Aries has no boundaries, and therein lies the rub.  It will be incredibly easy to shoot off our mouths and come across as opinionated and overbearing.  This could make it difficult to find solutions that work for all parties as we are challenged to be realistic in terms of what we are promising others.  There is definitely a sky is the limit vibe with this aspect.  Mercury is stationing retrograde in Libra on the 9th (more on this in next week's post) but it will be re-entering Virgo on the 23rd and we could be facing some heavy analysis of whatever promises we made during the Mercury-Jupiter opposition.  And don't forget that Jupiter is retrograde until November 23, 2022.  Not to mention that Jupiter makes one last trip into Pisces on October 28 until it moves back into Aries on December 20, 2022.

Venus is departing the dramatic, fun-loving and flamboyant fire sign of Leo on September 5 to move into the mutable earth sign of Virgo until September 29.  Venus is actually considered to be in fall in Virgo because it is exalted in Pisces and is a very happy camper in Taurus and Libra, which it rules. When Venus is in Virgo, there is a more serious vibe to relationships. Venus in Virgo is not a time for casual flings, unlike when Venus was in Leo. Venus in Virgo is far more practical and grounded.  This can be a good influence for our finances, though as Venus also pertains to money. Virgo is a sign associated with healing and service to others, so we tend to demonstrate our love by doing things for others and taking care of them.  Virgo also has to do with over-analysis and perfectionism.  The shadow side of Venus in Virgo is a tendency to be overly critical of our partners or to be picky and demanding. Just remember that if you don't particularly enjoy the more practical side of Venus in Virgo, it will be ending the month in Libra, where it is positively ecstatic.

I will cover the Mercury retrograde in greater detail in next week's post, but keep in mind that Mercury is slowing down and actually entered its retrograde shadow on August 20 when Mars entered Gemini.  I don't know about you, but I am already experiencing the Mercury retrograde effects with scheduling snafus and electronic breakdowns.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. An Invigorating New Moon in Virgo that Takes its Lead from Mars in Gemini

The major event of this week is the New Moon in 4 degrees of Virgo on August 27.  Traditionally, New Moons are all about setting new intentions and one in Virgo ramps ups our ability to be more precise in analyzing what we want.  It also helps us to rid ourselves of negative habits and be of service to others because that is Virgo's trademark. 

The New Moon in Virgo is also getting quite a boost from Mars in Gemini.  Mars entered Gemini on August 20 for an extended stay and on that day, I tweeted:

The major astrological event of today is Mars entering Gemini until March 2023. Prepare to be motivated and impassioned by brilliant ideas and confronted with multiple options. We might be having some do-overs. #astrology

Both the Sun and Moon in Virgo are in an exact square to Mars in 4 degrees of Gemini on August 27, so this New Moon should have a rather competitive edge which can trigger some frustration, anger and irritability.  Conflict is highly likely. We might need to guard against acting too impulsively, which is always easier said than done.  But Mars in Gemini is also trining Mercury in Libra on the New Moon, so I anticipate high levels of mental activity and lots of information coming forth.  It should be quite energizing.

Venus in 19 degrees of Leo is also squaring Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus on the New Moon.  Uranus just stationed retrograde on August 24 until January 22, 2023.  This is bound to create some tension in relationships and finances as we are inclined to seek freedom from restrictions. And we can't forget Saturn in 20 degrees of Aquarius, which is putting its own stamp on the theme of  limitations and restrictions as the square between Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in Aquarius moves closer to being exact again in early October.  The Saturn-Uranus square predominated the year 2021, just like the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn ruled 2020.

Venus in Leo is exactly opposing Saturn in 20 degrees of Aquarius on August 28.  It will be difficult to feel any warmth towards others on this day, as we are more likely to feel underappreciated.  Mark my words, it will be a major reality check in love and finances.

On August 30, the Sun in Virgo will be forming an inconjunct or quincunx to Jupiter in 7 degrees of Aries.  We might be feeling overconfident or foolishly optimistic under the auspices of this aspect.  Just be mindful of the fact that the inconjunct always required some kind of adjustment so that the two planets can coexist and don't go off half-cocked or you will undoubtedly live to regret it.  We need to remember that there a lot of planets retrograde now: Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron and Mars, so essentially, we are in a period of reassessing.  And I hate to be a spoilsport, but Mercury  already entered its retrograde shadow period on August 20.  Mercury officially stations retrograde on September 9 the day before the Full Moon in Pisces, but its effects are being felt already.  I know that I have been experiencing it this week with missed messages, technical glitches and general communication snafus.

But the retrograde party starts breaking up in October when two of the heaviest hitters, Pluto and Saturn, station direct respectively on October 8 and October 22.  And the upcoming Mercury retrograde will end on October 2.  So the month of October should feel a lot freer and less restrictive in terms of being able to move forward.  Stay tuned...

Planets on the Move as Mars Enters Gemini, the Sun Moves into Virgo, Uranus Stations Retrograde, and Mercury Enters Libra

 

The planets are really switching gears this week.  The first half of August was pretty wild, but even though changes are still coming, we will be in a different frame of mind with this week's action.  First of all, Mars moves into Gemini on August 20.  This is a major event because Mars will be in Gemini until March 25, 2023 due to the upcoming Mars retrograde that starts on October 30, 2022 and lasts until January 12, 2023. Mars retrograde occurs approximately every two years and the last one occurred in September through November 13, 2020 in Aries.

What happens when Mars is in Gemini?  For starters, our brains are ignited with passion and drive as we seek to take action on brilliant ideas. Don't forget that Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury.  We will have a strong urge to communicate but there is a tendency to be abrupt-spoiler alert.  Mars in Gemini can be quite competitive and we will undoubtedly be using our wit to take action and win.  Our words can be edgy, sharp and we will have lots of options and choices to make.  The thing to remember with Mars in Gemini is that we can become easily confused over all of these options and our energy can become quite scattered.  We just find ourselves doing things over and trying the alternate option as Gemini is a sign of duality.  It is mutable air, after all.  There will probably be many opportunities to learn and use the rules of give and take.  In short, we need to be flexible in our actions.  If one method doesn't work, be open to trying alternatives.  

The Sun leaves its happy place in Leo for Virgo on August 22.  It denotes a time when we prepare to say goodbye to summer.  We tend to be more focused on getting organized, practical concerns and the details.  We tend to be more sensible and grounded.   Our communication should improve and we can also work on improving our health and ditching our bad habits.  The shadow side of the Sun in Virgo is that we can be more critical of others and ourselves.

Uranus stations retrograde in 18 degrees of Taurus on August 24 and is retrograde until January 22, 2023.  It is in 14 degrees of Taurus when it stations direct on that day. Uranus retrograde is a time of inner changes in response to the external changes that have been foisted upon us. Hopefully it will be a little quieter than the past few months. When Uranus stations retrograde on the 24th, Venus in 15 degrees of Leo is squaring it.  This could create some upheaval in relationships and finances.  Saturn in 21 degrees of Aquarius is also squaring it.  In 2021 we were dealing with the Saturn-Uranus squares and the last one was exact in December 2021.  These two planets are edging towards another exact square in early October 2022.  The theme of Saturn square Uranus is restrictive changes and unexpected restrictions.  In short, it can manifest as changes that you don't want.  The trick to surviving and thriving with Uranus retrograde is to turn the challenges into opportunities to rid yourself of negativity and the restrictions by carefully planning and implementing new strategies.

On August 25, Mercury departs one of its favorite signs Virgo for Libra.  Mercury will be in Libra for longer than usual because we have another Mercury retrograde coming up on September 9, when it stations retrograde in 8 degrees of Libra.  It slips back into Virgo on September 23 and stations direct in 24 degrees of Virgo on October 2.  But it re-enters Libra on October 10 and stays in Libra until October 29.

What can we expect when Mercury is in Libra?  We should be communicating in a more diplomatic, friendly and cooperative fashion.  We are also more rational and tend to have more creative suggestions and ideas.  Mercury in Libra also has a quest for justice and fairness.  Remember that symbol for Libra the scale of justice?  But the shadow side of Mercury in Libra is a tendency to waffle and be indecisive.  So don't be surprised if you find it more difficult to make decisions while Mercury is in Libra.  It should be a very fluid time given that Mars is in Gemini, another air sign that can have trouble making up its mind.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine.  If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
