We have another big week coming up astrologically. On December 18, we have the last Full Moon of
2021 in 27 degrees of Gemini. Full Moons
are associated with culmination and completion and having a Full Moon in the
sign of Gemini means that information and the necessity for choices will be
involved. And the Sun in Sagittarius is all about learning and exploring. A Gemini Moon opposing the Sun in Sagittarius
contains strong themes of personal knowledge and collective knowledge needing
to find a balance. The Moon is trining
Jupiter in 28 degrees of Aquarius and squaring Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces,
so I would not be surprised if big news surfaced about COVID-19. Jupiter loves
to expand and do things in a big way. It
seems like whenever Neptune is involved, news about the pandemic surfaces. When Neptune stationed direct on December 1,
we heard news about the first case of the Omicron variant in the United
States. Mercury in Capricorn is also
squaring Chiron in Aries on the 18th, which only increases the likelihood
of news about COVID-19, and the square could indicate that the news is not what
we want to hear.
Going back to the theme of culmination, I urge you to think
back to June 10, when we had a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Gemini. Did you start something new then? If so, you might see an end to that project
or relationship. Many of us could be
seeing a resolution of matters that were initiated back in June. And it goes without saying that anyone with planets
in the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius will feel the
effects of this Full Moon the most intensely.
My Moon is in Gemini in my 8th house, so I won’t be missing
out on the action with this Full Moon.
The pace continues on December 19, when Venus stations
retrograde in 26 degrees of Capricorn. Venus is retrograde until January 29,
2022 when it stations direct in 11 degrees of Capricorn. But Venus remains in Capricorn until March
6, 2022, which is a long time for Venus to be in a sign that it is not
particularly comfortable in. Venus entered Capricorn on November 5, 2021 and it
entered its retrograde shadow period on November 17. Venus retrograde usually occurs every 18
months and it is a time when we are forced to reevaluate our values, finances
and relationships. It can be hard to
find joy and comfort when Venus is retrograde and there can definitely be a
chill in love. I don’t recommend getting
married when Venus is retrograde, that’s for sure.
What else can happen during Venus retrograde? Finances can be affected and Bear Markets
have been known to happen during Venus retrograde. I love what astrologer Christopher Renstrom
said about Venus retrograde bringing out the Mean Girl vibe. Betrayals and triangles in relationships can
also occur. Another common feature of
Venus retrograde is to have old lovers return.
You know how when Mercury is retrograde you sometimes hear from people
in your past? When Venus is retrograde,
exes can suddenly show up. Obsessive and
karmic relationships can also spring up during Venus retrograde.
But I sense that this Venus retrograde will be even more intense because it is colored by the conjunction to Pluto in 25 degrees of Capricorn on December 11. On that day I tweeted:
Today is the 1st of 3 conjunctions between Venus and Pluto in Capricorn. This will cause us to review our need for affection and emotional depth as issues of power and sexuality are emphasized. Finances come under scrutiny too. Obsession, anyone? #astrology

I am taking this Venus retrograde quite personally because I
have a natal Venus retrograde in Scorpio in my 2nd house and it
squares my natal Pluto in Leo. I know all too well that Venus and Pluto
contacts can bring pain, strong judgment and difficulties in relationships.
There is a theme of feeling like you will die or lose a vital part of yourself
if a partnership dissolves. Venus and
Pluto will be conjunct again in 25 degrees of Capricorn on December 25 (Merry
Christmas) and on March 3, 2022 in 27 degrees of Capricorn when both planets
are direct. I think that we can expect
some relationships to bite the dust during this Venus retrograde. But Pluto can also bring rebirth and I think
we need to hold onto that belief…
Chiron in 8 degrees of Aries also stations direct on
December 19 after having been retrograde since July 15, 2021. Perhaps Chiron going direct will help us on our
healing path with the pandemic. Back in
July we were just starting to deal with the Delta variant, but now we are
grappling with the Omicron variant.
Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer and I am sure that most of us are
pretty weary of this pandemic and could use some good news about the trajectory
of this virus.
On December 21, the Sun moves into the cardinal earth sign
of Capricorn for the Winter Solstice.
When the Sun is in Capricorn, our focus shifts to being more
responsible, ambitious and geared towards achieving accomplishments. We find it easier to embrace structures and
work hard on those goals. It’s probably
no accident that New Year’s resolutions occur while the Sun is in
Capricorn. This can be a very productive
period if we are mindful of the shadow side of the Sun in Capricorn: depression
and pessimism. Capricorn is ruled by
Saturn, so responsibility, structures and a serious attitude are part of the
package.

The coronavirus
outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do
because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided
to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to
practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my
Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a
distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune
system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from
the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client
about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the
session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy
and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and
my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now
offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each
other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki
treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client. I use a teddy
bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If

I urge everyone to
engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of
washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching
your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home
if you are sick. And get a vaccine. If you are eligible for a booster
shot, get it. The Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to
remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated. And we still
don’t have all of the facts on the Omicron strain yet! I repeat, you do
not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider
myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy,
