Uranus Retrograde, A Powerful New Moon in Leo and Mercury Enters Virgo

Uranus, the planet associated with innovation, freedom and sudden upheavals and change, will be stationing retrograde in 10 degrees of Taurus on August 15, 2020 and will remain retrograde until January 14, 2021 when it stations direct in 6 degrees of Taurus. It is joining the party of retrograde planets that include Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune and Ceres in Pisces.

How is Uranus retrograde going to play out this year?  Well, for starters, Uranus is not exactly comfortable in the sign of Taurus because the sign of Taurus loves stability and focus.  It is somewhat oxymoronic for Uranus to be in Taurus.  It’s not exactly like a few years ago when Uranus was in Aries, and we experienced the Uranus Pluto squares from 2012-2015. Uranus retrograde in Taurus can actually be our friend by affording us the opportunity to sort out the surprises and changes that we have experienced this year.  We certainly have our work cut out for us in this regard thanks to the pandemic.  It can be a time of reflection.  I have Uranus retrograde natally and I can honestly say that it is not the most difficult planet to have retrograde; it’s not as difficult as Saturn, Neptune or Pluto retrograde.  In some ways, I feel that Uranus is rather empowering because it allows me to feel secure in being different and seeking an alternate path.  Of course, it also helps with my astrology work because it is retrograde in my 10th house of career and public standing.

There is a shadow side, however, to Uranus retrograde. Don’t forget that whenever a planet stations retrograde or direct, its power is magnified. Uranus is also associated with the internet, so there may be some upsetting disclosures revealed online.  And Uranus in Taurus could bring more extreme weather and earthquakes.  We are veering into hurricane season as well.

On August 18, 2020 we have an extremely powerful new moon in 26 degrees of Leo.  I can tell you that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will feel its impact the most.  I am in that camp, as this new moon exactly conjuncts my natal Pluto in my 11th house and squares my sun and Venus in Scorpio in my second house.  I certainly plan on meditating and setting some new intentions on this new moon.

The stage was set for this new moon to be a game changer on August 17, 2020 when the Leo moon squares newly retrograde Uranus in Taurus. This could actually trigger a flare up of the January events that were associated with the outbreak of the coronavirus.  On January 11, 2020, the day before the infamous Saturn Pluto conjunction, the moon in Leo squared Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus, which had stationed direct on January 10th.  We could literally be feeling like we are stuck between two worlds – the past and the future.

The main theme of new moons is to set new intentions and this new moon in Leo is no exception to that rule.  Mars in Aries will be squaring Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, so there could be a sense of external control coming up for many people.  I know that I just said that fixed signs will be feeling this new moon’s intensity, but if you have any planets in the late degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you are not exactly off the hook either.

The perk or saving grace of this new moon in Leo is that we do have a Grand Fire Trine involving the sun and moon in Leo, Mars in Aries and the south node of the moon in 27 degrees of Sagittarius. This is a highly creative new moon which is extremely powerful and passionate.  Leadership may be emphasized in the sign of Leo and accessing our own personal sense of integrity.  Since Leo rules the heart, it may also represent an opportunity to develop a new understanding of love.  So you see, I’m not kidding when I say this is one potent and passionate new moon.

On August 19, 2020, Mercury enters the sign of Virgo until September 5, 2020.  Mercury rules Virgo and Gemini, so it is a happy camper in Virgo.  Communications will become more focused, humble and down-to-earth.  We will see more of a detailed analysis of the facts emerge as opposed to the drama featured when Mercury was in Leo. Dealing with details and practical matters is about to get much easier.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. When I return to my Brookline office I will be practicing Reiki with a mask, gloves, and medical exam sheets for your protection.  I will also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

An Active Week Ahead as Venus Enters Cancer, Mercury Squares Uranus and Mars Squares Pluto

We have another active week ahead of us with Uranus still calling the shots.  On August 2, 2020, the day before the full moon in Aquarius which squared Uranus in Taurus, the sun in Leo squared Uranus in Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

We have another major Uranus aspect coming up on August 10, 2020 when Mercury in 10 degrees of Leo squares Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  I will cover that a little later in this post. But before that happens Venus changes signs and enters the sign of Cancer on August 7, 2020 after spending four months in Gemini due to this year’s Venus retrograde.

Venus in the sign of Cancer until September 6, 2020 and it will be a marked change from Venus in Gemini. When Venus is transiting the sign of Cancer, we will be more nurturing, self-protective and cautious in our relationships and finances.  There will also be more emotional ups and downs as we experience bouts of moodiness.  We are more inclined to demonstrate our love through acts of devotion and concern.  Emotional security will be paramount to us.

Venus in Cancer also indicates a longing for a deeper emotional connection in relationships.  Attachment and dedication are strong themes of this transit as we experience increased levels of sensitivity.  But we need to be mindful of the tendency to turn cold and retreat into our crablike shells if we feel hurt.  We may also be inclined to be more possessive of those we love.  It’s true that we will feel more vulnerable while Venus is transiting Cancer, but the plus side of this transit is that it opens our heart more so that we can give and receive love more easily.  Try to hold onto that thought and we should benefit greatly from this transit.

Then on August 10, 2020, Mercury in Leo squares Uranus in Taurus.  This aspect generates a great deal of excitement and change to our daily routines but it can be accompanied by upsets and nervous tensions.  Mishaps in communications are also possible.  Be prepared for cars to break down or computer glitches.  Try not to make spontaneous decisions if possible.  We will definitely be feeling more impatient and willing to try new experiences because new perspectives will be available.  I have a natal Mercury Uranus square in my chart and can attest to the amount of nervous energy it generates.  It’s an ongoing theme in my life.

On August 13, 2020, Mars in 23 degrees of Aries will be squaring Pluto in 23 degrees of Capricorn.  I won’t sugarcoat the effects of this aspect: it will be rife with pressure, power struggles and confrontations.  Mars and Pluto are not lightweight planets; after all, they are the rulers of Aries and Scorpio. People are striving to achieve their goals and they may engage in underhanded or manipulative measures.  At the root of this aspect is a strong desire to gain control of others.  Even if we can curb our temper and don’t act too aggressively, others can be acting very aggressively at this time and we could find ourselves in the line of their fire.

Secrets may very well emerge under the auspices of this aspect but be mindful of the balance between getting our point across to deliberately hurt the feelings of others.  Don’t be afraid to speak your truth.  This aspect reminds me of the expression: “Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don’t say it mean.”   Am I making myself clear on the power of this aspect?  It has the potential to be very explosive, but it can also be very transformative if we harness its energy properly.

A Full Moon in Aquarius That is Heavily Influenced by Mercury and Uranus

Mercury in Cancer has been calling the shots lately, with its opposition to Jupiter in Capricorn on July 30th, inspiring me to tweet:
It will also oppose Pluto in 23 degrees of Capricorn on August 1, 2020, which can increase the level of tension (as if we didn’t have enough already) and possibly manifest in rampant manipulation and game playing. This is a prelude to the full moon in 11 degrees of Aquarius that occurs on August 3, 2020.

Mercury in Cancer has definitely been busy lately.  On August 3, 2020, the day of the full moon in Aquarius, it opposes Saturn in 29 degrees of the Capricorn.  It’s already aspected Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn, and now it takes a shot at Saturn.  Don’t expect a plethora of good news with this aspect; Saturn is known for its sober and pessimistic vibe, rife with limitations and restrictions.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some states enforced more stringent measures to combat COVID-19 and reverted to earlier stages of reopening due to the increase in cases of the virus.
A full moon is a time of closure and completion but it can also shine a light on dark corners and pierce the clarity of truth.  This full moon in the sign of Aquarius could also see some interventions as we face some uncomfortable truths.  It is indeed a time to confront something that we know is wrong and right it.  We had a new moon in 4 degrees of Aquarius on January 24, 2020 that squared Uranus in Taurus and this full moon in 11 degrees of Aquarius will also square Uranus in 9 degrees of Taurus.  Some of us may see some closure on issues that began back in late January.
The full moon on August 3, 2020 also packs a Uranian punch.  For starters, it is in the sign of Aquarius, which Uranus rules.  And it squares Uranus in Taurus, which also occurred on the new moon in Aquarius on January 24, 2020, so there could be some unpleasant results that crop up in the form of unexpected events and surprises. With Uranus in Taurus, our economy could take an even deeper hit and agriculture, another theme of Taurus, could change the way we grow our food.  On the previous day, August 2, 2020, the sun in Leo squared Uranus in Taurus, which fueled the fire for restless tensions, unpredictable behavior and the potential for accidents.  All I am saying is don’t expect this full moon to be a tame one.
If you have planets in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you will definitely feel the brunt of this full moon.  I am definitely in that camp.  This full moon is conjunct my Mars in Aquarius in my 4th house and it squares my Saturn in Scorpio in my 1st house.  I have a natal moon Saturn inconjunct, so I know first-hand that moon Saturn aspects are not exactly warm and fuzzy.  It’s an understatement to say that I am not exactly looking forward to this full moon.
Mercury will depart the sign of Cancer, where it has been since May 28, 2020 due to Mercury retrograde and enter the sign of Leo on August 4, 2020 until September 5, 2020.  Mercury in Leo will herald communications that are bold and expressive.  No more Cancer humble pie or passive aggressive styles of communicating.  Leo loves to be seen and heard in a rather dramatic fashion.  Also on August 4, 2020, Mars in 19 degrees of Aries will square Jupiter in 19 degrees of Capricorn, which will imbue us with a sense of luck, strength and courage.  We just need to remember not to go overboard.  Mars in Aries will also be squaring Pluto in Capricorn on August 13th, and this square may be a little more upsetting as there may be impulsive actions to deconstruct the old system represented by Pluto in Capricorn.
If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Jupiter Sextiles Neptune Take Two and Mercury Gets Busy with Mars, Jupiter and Neptune

We just had an emotionally super charged and intense New Moon in Cancer on July 20, 2020.  On that day I tweeted:
But we have a rather pleasant aspect coming up on July 27, 2020.  Jupiter in 20 degrees of Capricorn will be forming a supportive sextile to Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces.  This is the second of three Jupiter Neptune sextiles of 2020.  The first one occurred on February 20, 2020 in 17 degrees of Capricorn and Pisces and the third one will happen on October 12, 2020 in 18 degrees of Capricorn and Pisces.

Jupiter sextiling Neptune is a real feel good aspect that brings optimism, good fortune, harmony, expansion, creativity, heightened intuition and spiritual enlightenment.  We certainly could use this type of energy during these challenging times of COVID-19.  It’s hard to believe what life was like back on the first hit of that aspect in February, which was officially pre-COVID-19.   Jupiter sextiling Neptune has a protective guardian angel type vibe about it that we sorely need right now.  It also has the potential to give us a sense of proportion and to keep our morals in check.

The only glitch and shadow side with this aspect is that Jupiter is very uncomfortable in the sign of Capricorn because it is technically in fall due to Jupiter being exalted in Cancer.  The recent Jupiter Pluto conjunctions demonstrates this; Jupiter in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn only served to amplify the effects of the virus and the accompanying power struggles.  Jupiter sextiling Neptune can also manifest in engaging in escapist behaviors that include substance abuse.  But I want to emphasize that Jupiter sextiling Neptune represents an opportunity to check in with yourself regarding your values and beliefs.  We won’t have another Jupiter Neptune sextile after October 2020 until 2024 when Jupiter is in Taurus, so make the most of it.

Mercury in 15 degrees of Cancer will be squaring Mars in 15 degrees of Aries on July 27, 2020.  There is no sugar-coating that this aspect will be challenging and tough, generating quite a bit of tension.  Mercury squaring Mars can lead to rushed thinking, short tempers and aggressive behavior.  We may be prone to jumping to conclusions and making rash decisions.  Arguments and hostility can arise.  Please try not to make any major decisions under the auspices of this aspect.

On July 30, 2020, Mercury in Cancer is doing double duty with two major aspects.  Mercury in 20 degrees of Cancer will be opposing Jupiter in 20 degrees of Capricorn.  Mercury opposing Jupiter can deliver big ideas and plans that we tend to feel optimistic about but be mindful not to skip over details or take on more than you can handle.  Jupiter aspects have a way of making us bite off more than we can chew.  Be mindful that this aspect represents an opportunity to question our plans and beliefs.

We also have Mercury in 20 degrees of Cancer trining Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces on July 30, 2020.  This is a delightfully pleasant aspect that will stimulate creativity, imagination, sensitivity and heighten our spirituality. It’s a perfect day to engage in creative endeavors and meditate.  I am stoked about it because it forms a grand water trine with my Scorpio sun.  I expect that I will be extremely intuitive on that day, so if you need a reading, I should be in top form on that day.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

A Second New Moon in Cancer and the Sun Roars into Leo

We have a second new moon in Cancer coming up on July 20, 2020.  The first one occurred on June 21, 2020 in 0 degrees but the one on July 20th will be in 28 degrees of Cancer.  So anyone with planets in the late degrees of Cancer or any of the other cardinal signs of Aries, Libra or Capricorn should feel the full effects of this new moon.

New moons are traditionally considered an opportunity to plant a seed for new beginnings but this particular new moon has some very challenging aspects that may make it feel more like a full moon.  A new moon in Cancer will always entail themes of new beginnings in the areas of home, family, and emotional security but this new moon features oppositions to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn.

We got a taste of the Cancer Capricorn polarity earlier this week when the Cancer sun opposed Jupiter in Capricorn on July 14th and opposed Pluto in Capricorn on July 15th.  Both of these aspects inspired me to tweet:

With the new moon in Cancer opposing retrograde Jupiter in Capricorn, we are definitely in the mood for a new chapter in our lives during this pandemic, but we are on the receiving end of mixed messages because that Cancer moon opposing retrograde Saturn in Capricorn is restricting us and placing limitations on our daily lives.  The new moon opposing retrograde Pluto in Capricorn indicates that psychological wounds can be dredged up from the unconscious as we could be facing a period of deep shadow work to release what is no longer serving our best interests and move us forward on the path of transformation.  We are definitely dealing with a deconstruction of the old order and especially with Saturn and Pluto involved it could feel like a real tug of war between the government and the people.  Do you see why I think this could very well feel like a full moon?  Many of us may be struggling with work/life balance issues during this time as many people work from home.

I know for a fact that this new moon will impact me because it is conjunct my Jupiter Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house.  Talk about a work life challenge! Something is bound to change.  I do my astrology work from home, as well as my distance Reiki treatments.  I hope to be able to get out in the physical world to do in-person Reiki treatments in August but like everyone else I am watching the numbers closely and am deeply concerned about the spike in Coronavirus cases which I am sure can be attributed to the most recent Jupiter Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on June 30, 2020.  And let’s face it, some people did not exactly practice social distancing on the 4th of July and we are dealing with the repercussions of that as well.

But we do have one saving grace aspect on the new moon of July 20th. That Cancer moon will be trining Neptune in Pisces.  Okay, it happens right after midnight before the new moon is exact, but it does favor sensitivity, creativity, our imagination and foster compassion towards others.  Our intuition will be strong on this day and I definitely encourage people to meditate and set new intentions on this new moon.

Two days later, on July 22, 2020 the sun enters the fixed fire sign of Leo, which it rules.  When the sun is in Leo, it is a time to shine, be proud and play.  We feel more confident, optimistic, enthusiastic, outgoing and gregarious.  This can be a welcome respite from the past few months.  Just be mindful of the shadow side of Leo, which is a tendency to be arrogant and self-centered.

On July 22, 2020, we also have Mercury in 10 degrees of Cancer sextiling Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  This is a very positive and supportive aspect that can deliver exciting news and is ripe for stimulating conversations.  It’s also got a very future oriented vibe and there could be brilliant flashes of insight.  We should also be open to the possibility of meeting new people and new perspectives under the auspices of this aspect.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

I have also added a new reading to my menu of services, a Clues to Compatibility reading, which is designed primarily for non-romantic relationships and utilizes synastry to determine your connections with friends, family members and business associates. Additionally, I have also decided to offer private astrology lessons by telephone or video, such as Skype or Zoom.  Please feel free to contact me at lindasim54@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about astrology.

I have been doing more work with tarot readings, which I love, so I decided to create a new combination reading which offers the option of a 30 minute astrology consultation with a one question tarot reading for only $50. There is something for everyone and my menu of services can accommodate any budget.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.

I am also available for tarot readings by telephone.  I use the Celestial Tarot Deck, which I love because it contains so many astrological symbols.  A tarot reading is another great option for obtaining insight and clarity. I offer a 24 card tarot card reading for $50 which incorporates the twelve houses of the horoscope.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until August in order to practice social distancing.  I will be back in my Brookline office then practicing Reiki with a mask, gloves, and medical exam sheets for your protection. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is $30.  For your convenience, I accept PayPal and Venmo as forms of payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
