Mercury Retrograde and A Full Moon in Libra

Mercury is getting ready to join the retrograde party that is currently hosted by Saturn in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Libra and Venus in Pisces.  Mercury stations retrograde in 4 degrees of Taurus on April 9, 2017 but re-enters the sign of Aries on April 20, 2017 and stations direct in 24 degrees of Aries on May 3, 2017.  For those of us who believe in the shadow period of Mercury retrograde (and I am definitely in that camp), the coast is finally clear on May 21, 2017 when Mercury clears it retrograde shadow in 4 degrees of Taurus.

This is going to be one rather complicated Mercury retrograde. When Mercury is retrograde in Taurus, we will find ourselves questioning the people, ideas and material things that provide us with a sense of security.  But when it is retrograde in Aries, our focus will shift to our past actions as we review any impulsive actions or angry words that have transpired in the recent past.  Personally, I think that the most frustrating complication of this Mercury retrograde may be that it coincides with Venus retrograde in Pisces until April 15^th.  It will seriously impact communications in relationships, so if you are trying to resolve some issues, you may not be lying when you say your partner doesn’t understand you!  Feelings of being misunderstand could indeed prevail.

We won’t have much time to adjust to Mercury retrograde before a full moon in 21 degrees of Libra enters the astrological picture on April 11, 2017.  This full moon is activating a cardinal grand cross involving the sun and Uranus in Aries, moon in Libra, Vesta (the asteroid associated with dedication and a need to withdraw for recharging purposes) in Cancer, Juno (the “marriage” asteroid) in Capricorn and Pluto in Capricorn. The last time we had a cardinal grand cross in play was during the solar eclipse in 8 degrees of Pisces on February 26, 2017.  Any unresolved issues from that eclipse may resurface during this full moon.

With all of this cardinal action in play, heightened stress will be a major theme of the full moon.  With Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries involved, the recent Jupiter/Uranus opposition of early March will be caught in the crossfire.  This aspect is waning and will be over by the end of April when we hopefully have a new sense of normality. The main issue with this aspect involved a real push/pull experience as we felt compelled to work with others while simultaneously feeling rebellious towards anyone who infringed on our personal freedom.  Jupiter in Libra has been taking some hits recently.  On April 4, 2017, Mars in Taurus inconjuncted it, inspiring me to tweet:

Uranus in Aries is also a pretty heavy hitter and the literal wild card in this full moon lineup.  It conjuncts the Aries sun and opposes the full moon in Libra, as it holds major potential for surprising challenges and flying off the handle.  It will have a jarring, nervous energy that should wake us up with a sense of restlessness while its squares to Vesta in Cancer and Juno in Capricorn will challenge our sense of emotional security.

But we do get some planetary assistance from Chiron, especially with the Venus retrograde during the full moon.  Chiron is in 26 degrees of Pisces, a mere one degree away from Venus in 27 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect reinforces the message that healing can occur when we trust, surrender and release our need for control.  This is important to remember because full moons are all about endings.  Why not use this opportunity to heal and release a situation that is no longer serving our highest good?

On a personal level, this full moon is conjunct my Libra ascendant and Neptune in Libra in the 1^st house.  I suspect that my emotional and psychic sensitivity will be off the charts.  I know that it can manifest as compassion and empathy, which is beneficial for my work, but I will also need to watch out for the flip side of the Neptune influence: delusion, fantasies running amok and escapist desires.

Mercury and Venus Change Signs While Saturn Stations Retrograde

We are coming off the heels of a powerful new moon in Aries this week that conjuncted retrograde Venus in Aries.  On that day I tweeted:

But Venus will not remain in Aries much longer.  It is still retrograde and will re-enter the sign of Pisces, where it is exalted, on April 2, 2017.  But before Venus changes signs, Mercury enters Taurus on March 31, 2017 and the communication vibe becomes slower, steadier and more grounded. 

Mercury doesn’t’ stay in Taurus very long, either, because it will be stationing retrograde in 4 degrees of Taurus on April 9, 2017. It will re-enter Aries on April 20, 2017 and station direct in 24 degrees of Aries on May 3, 2017.  Further complicating this Mercury retrograde is the fact that during the last week of April and the first two weeks of May, Mercury will be closely aligned by conjunction with Uranus in Aries.  What can we expect from this aspect? Nervous energy will run amok, rebellious attitudes will prevail and there will be lots of direct communication and innovative thinking. But Mercury will return to Taurus on May 17, 2017 and we will probably experience more solid footing in communication.

The retrograde Venus in Pisces transit should be very interesting and illuminating.  It will undoubtedly bring up some old wounds for healing.  The themes of Venus in Pisces are all about unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness.  We literally getting one last shot at letting go and making peace before Venus re-enters Aries on April 28, 2017.  Use this time wisely to make whatever compromises are necessary to bring that healing into your life.

On April 6. 2017, Saturn will station retrograde in 27 degrees of Sagittarius until August 25, 2017 when it stations direct in 21 degrees of Sagittarius.  A Saturn retrograde transit is much longer and more complicated than either Venus or Mercury retrograde.  Saturn retrograde bears the themes of limitations, restrictions, anxiety and fear.  Since Saturn literally screams responsibility, our past karma will come into play.  If we have been responsible and good citizens, we just might get some rewards during this transit.

Saturn also brings delays and this is a bitter pill for many of us to swallow.  Frustrations may mount as we feel our progress is being halted to a crashing stop.  The main thing to remember is that delays are actually for our benefit.  I know, easier said than done.  There may be details that we have overlooked that require our attention during this transit.  Saturn retrograde forces us to flex our muscles with discipline, endurance and patience.  Patience does not come naturally to me; I have Saturn square Mars, so it is definitely not my strong suit.

The Saturn Retrograde transit starts off with a rather challenging aspect on April 8, 2017 when it squares retrograde Venus in Pisces.  Saturn squaring Venus is inherently depressing, but when both are retrograde, it can feel really discouraging.  Feelings of love and self-esteem will probably not be in abundance on this day and finances may be shaky.  Just remember that this is TEMPORARY!

New Moon in Aries Gets Us All Fired Up

Are you feeling the burn yet?  We have an upcoming new moon in 7 degrees of Aries on March 27, 2017, but we have a plethora of planets in fire signs these days.  In addition to that new moon in Aries, we have Saturn in Sagittarius, Uranus, Eris, Venus, Mercury and the Sun in Aries.  The sun entered Aries on March 20, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:

What is really making this a complicated time is the fact that we also have the south node of the moon, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces.  Pisces is a water sign and it creates an interesting dynamic when mixed with all of that fire energy.  Pisces is all about vulnerability, compassion and is a very feminine sign.  Its less positive manifestations include fake news and the smoke and mirror syndrome.  Aries is all about power, courage, and enthusiasm; it is literally a spiritual warrior because it is ruled by Mars. So we are smack in the middle of a split between some pretty powerful masculine and feminine energies.

Saturn in Sagittarius has been pretty busy lately too.  It is engaged in an ongoing square with Chiron in Pisces. These two are pretty heavy hitters and this challenging aspect is causing us to seek deeper meaning and truths.  But the sweet spot can be that real breakthroughs are possible.  Saturn is also trining Uranus in Aries, so it will be much easier to implement any changes that need to be made.Hold onto those thoughts.

Mercury in Aries has been no slouch lately, either.  Mercury squared Pluto in Capricorn on March 23, 2017, prompting me to tweet:

Mercury in Aries will be conjunct Uranus and Eris in Aries while squaring Pluto in Capricorn from March 23-27, 2017.  So it is definitely a key player in this new moon.  This is pretty intense energy, but don’t forget that we are getting a supportive boost in the form of Saturn in Sagittarius trining Uranus and Eris in Aries.  Extraordinary insights could result from this new moon in Aries.  The only caveat with this energy is that we may need to think before we speak.  But the Aries new moon should definitely give us a shot of courage to face our demons and storms, even, or especially, if they are inner demons and storms.

Two days before the new moon in Aries, on March 25, 2017, the Sun and Venus will form an inferior conjunction in Aries.  I hate the expression inferior, but the reason it is called inferior is because is Venus is retrograde.  I was born with a Sun/Venus inferior conjunction myself in Scorpio.  The conjunction of the Sun and Venus should provide a loving, sociable vibe that favors relationships and Venus retrograde should make it easier to reconnect and achieve a measure of forgiveness in unresolved relationships.  If you are curious as to how this Venus retrograde transit is impacting you, please consider purchasing my Venus Retrograde special for only $25.  Just email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to request it.

The new moon in Aries is also getting an unexpected boost from Mars in Taurus trining Pluto in Capricorn.  It is common knowledge that new moons are the perfect time to set new intentions, and with Mars trining Pluto we have the added bonus of persistence, focus and tenacity.

The issues of freedom, power vs. inequality and social activism are all playing out courtesy of the cardinal planets.  The aftershocks of the Uranus/Pluto squares are still reverberating as the old paradigms are being broken down.  Uranus in Aries opposing Jupiter in Libra is a major contributing factor in the rise of social activism we are currently experiencing.  Anyone with cardinal planets or points between 22-24 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will be in touch with these issues as their charts are activated.  My Chiron in 24 degrees of Capricorn will definitely be feeling it. Make Way for the Ram as Aries Season Kicks into High Gear

Are you feeling cranky lately? If so, there is a perfectly cogent explanation.  We are heading into Aries season.  The Sun enters Aries on March 20, 2017, but Venus is already in Aries and Mercury entered Aries on March 13, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:

I don’t know about you, but I felt that Mercury in Aries energy immediately.  Maybe because Mercury’s entrance into Aries inconjuncted my natal Mercury in Scorpio and I became quite testy and cranky.  Let’s face it, both Aries and Scorpio are ruled by Mars, so communication can get downright cantankerous and hot-tempered.  The least little thing set me off that day and continues to.  And Venus in Aries, a sign of its detriment, is also known for being somewhat disagreeable. For me, maybe it’s just a case of little too much fire energy mixing with my Scorpio energy.  It reared its ugly head on March 16^th too when the Scorpio moon inconjuncted Venus in Aries.  On that day I tweeted:

On March 18, 2017, Mercury will conjunct Venus in Aries.  This too can be a somewhat edgy vibe as it gives us pause to review old relationships and friends in a positive light. Venus is still retrograde, so that theme of review is still up for grabs. Mercury in Aries does give us the courage to speak up and express what is on our mind.  But Mercury and Venus conjunct still has the power to conjure up some good manners.  I am planning a birthday celebratory luncheon with a friend and plan to have a good time and behave myself.

The Sun enters the sign of Aries on March 20, 2017 at 6:29 a.m. and is also known as the Spring Equinox or the first day of Spring.  For many of us on the east coast of the United States, that may not provide much comfort given the recent nor’easter storm we just experienced this past week.

But before everyone thinks that I hate the sign of Aries, let me set the record straight.  Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and it is only fitting that it be associated with the season of spring.  The symbol for Aries is the ram, and it has many positive qualities.  Aries is active, direct, courageous, aggressive, energetic and quite innovative, given that it is a cardinal sign.  Cardinal signs are movers and shakers, no doubt about it.  Aries is the perfect sign to initiate new projects and is a born entrepreneur.  If you want a fresh start, count on an Aries to give it to you because blazing new trails is in their astrological DNA.  Aries is the cardinal sign ruled by Mars, so it goes with the territory that it can at times be impulsive, impatient and possess a sharp temper and quick fuse.   One really positive thing about that sharp temper is that it does not have a tendency to hold grudges.  An Aries temper may blow hot, but it blows over quickly.  It is definitely not in the same league as Scorpio, whose temper simmers, stuffs their feelings and holds grudges big-time.  So on many levels, I am very grateful for that Aries energy emerging and literally giving us a breath of fresh air. 

And don’t forget that Venus is still retrograde in Aries.  It remains in Aries until April 4. 2017 when it slides back into its sign of exaltation, Pisces. For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Whole Lotta Earth Energy as Mars Enters Taurus and a Full Moon in Virgo

The planetary ambience is taking on a whole new dimension these days as the element of earth joins the fire and water party.  We still have the sun, Mercury, Chiron and Neptune in Pisces, but the sun and Mercury will be leaving Pisces soon. Saturn is still in Sagittarius and Uranus remains in Aries, but Mars has officially left the sign of Aries.  It entered the earth sign of Taurus on March 9^th, inspiring me to tweet:

Mars is not comfortable in Taurus because the slow, plodding, stubborn traits that describe Taurus are not a good fit for the action oriented planet of Mars.  Mars is much more comfortable in Aries and Scorpio, but perhaps on some level we should be grateful that Mars has left the impetuous, impulsive sign of Aries because it certainly stirred up a great deal of restless cardinal energy since it entered Aries on January 28^th.  Mars in Taurus is much more cautious and measured.  It is literally in the game for the long haul but its slow and steady approach can still generate much anger and frustration nonetheless because it values the end result more than the process.  But what else can you expect from Taurus, which is ruled by Venus?  This also means that while Mars is transiting the sign of Taurus until April 20, 2017 that we may find ourselves more attracted to material goods and the finer things in life. 

On March 12, 2017 we have an extremely intense full moon in 22 degrees of Virgo.  This particular full moon involves two signs, the sun in Pisces and moon in Virgo, hat contain themes of service to others.  Our dreams and sense of spirituality (Pisces) are colliding with the practicality of the Virgo moon. If we are to make optimal use of this full moon energy, we need to work that Pisces sun to reflect on our dreams while paying attention to the details that Virgo is so renowned for.  A major theme of this full moon in Virgo is to achieve a sense of balance and get it right so that we can indeed manifest our dreams.

Ironically, Mars in Taurus will be helping us during this full moon because it will be trining the north node in Virgo and sextiling the south node in Pisces.  It is a stabilizing force with that Virgo moon and its easy, flowing aspects to the nodes of the moon supports us on our spiritual path to move forward and release what is no longer serving us. It is a boost of energy that kicks that karmic baggage to the curb.

There is more earth energy involved in this Virgo full moon.  It also forms a beautiful trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn.  The trine to Pluto in Capricorn facilitates deep transformation by granting us access to deep reserves of power and strength that we may not have known we possessed. 

We also have some cardinal energy adding to the mix during the full moon.  The ongoing opposition between Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries increases our desire for excitement and personal freedom.   So this will not be a dull full moon!

The Pisces planets also feature prominently in this full moon.  Besides the sun, Chiron and Mercury in Pisces get in on the act.  Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces conjuncts the sun and opposes the moon in Virgo, reminding us not to let our emotions and old wounds get the best of us.  But Mercury in Pisces squaring off with Saturn in Sagittarius is also a key player in this full moon.  This aspect will definitely pose major challenges to communications and provide a big time reality check.  It can be a somewhat frustrating time, especially if we feel like we are running into brick walls, but the key to surviving and prospering as a result of this aspect is to give up our resistance.  Don’t ever forget that Pisces is all about surrender. We may not be able to control what is happening in the world these days, but we can adopt a policy of surrendering to it and trusting that we do have a choice and free will in terms of how we respond to certain situations.  Do we act out of fear and anxiety or do we respond with the courage to move forward?

This full moon in Virgo is falling in my 12^th house and I am certainly hoping that I can have the courage to embrace the high spiritual road.   The moon will be sextiling my sun and retrograde Venus in Scorpio while the Pisces sun trines them.  But Mercury and Chiron in Pisces are also trining not only my sun and Venus in Scorpio, but also my Cancer midheaven and retrograde Uranus in Cancer. A highly emotional grand water trine.  It is still up for grabs as to how this will play out for me.  I have been known to have meltdowns on previous Virgo full moons, so I am trying to be mindful of the potential havoc it can wreak.  The 12^th house can be an astrological wild card, so to speak.

The full moon in 22 degrees of Virgo will be forming an exact T- square to President Donald Trump’s sun in 22 degrees of Gemini.  With both the moon and sun squaring his natal sun, this could manifest in even more outrageous behavior and adopting the victim/martyr role on an even more elevated level.  The blame game could rise to unprecedented heights this coming weekend.

Mercury leaves the sign of Pisces and enters Aries on March 13, 2017.  The gloves will be off and communication takes on a more urgent, immediate gratification vibe.  No more sugar coating like with Mercury in Pisces.  Communication will be swift and direct.  And the next Mercury retrograde will feature Mercury in Aries for a portion of its duration.  Mercury will enter Taurus on April 1^st, but will station retrograde in 4 degrees of Taurus on April 9^th and re-enter Aries on April 29^th during the Mercury retrograde transit.  Mercury will station direct in 24 degrees of Aries on May 3, 3017 and re-enter Taurus on May 16, 2017
