Mercury is
about to depart its home sign of Gemini on June 12, 2018 to enter the sensitive
water sign of Cancer until June 29, 2018.
Mercury in Cancer means that communications will be driven by emotion
and not logic, which is a major change from its transit in Gemini. On June 5,
2018, Mercury and the sun were conjunct in 14 degrees of Gemini, inspiring me
to tweet:
When Mercury is in Cancer, information will be processed and expressed on a more instinctive level. We will definitely be listening and paying attention to our intuition. We may find ourselves listening with our heart as well as our ears as we feel more comfortable expressing our vulnerabilities. Mercury in Cancer is an opportunity to get closer to others and share feelings that are more personal than usual. But the down side of Mercury in Cancer is that it will be much more challenging to be objective.Communications are really emphasized strongly today with the sun and Mercury conjunct in Gemini, the sign that Mercury rules. Not a quiet day. #astrology— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) June 5, 2018
On June 13,
2018, Venus departs the sign of Cancer to enter the fire sign of Leo until July
9, 2018. We also have a Super New Moon
in 22 degrees of Gemini on that day. Venus enters
Leo about two hours after the new moon and it will be a big change emotionally
from Venus in Cancer. Venus in Leo has a
tendency to remind us that life can be fun, dramatic, and playful as we feel
more self-indulgent. It is a fabulous
time for socializing and parties, so make sure you get out there if you are
single and looking for someone special.
Venus in Leo is a time to put yourself first, to soak up the admiration
of others and to literally shine. Pride
and passion are strong features of Venus in Leo, as is extravagance because Venus
in Leo is all about being generous and loving with others. It also has a tendency to stoke the fires of
creativity and re-energize relationships with others. Leo is a fire sign and is imbued with lots of
spontaneous, loving energy and is also a time to focus on getting personal
needs met.
The Super New
Moon in 22 degrees of Gemini happens at 3:34 p.m. on June 13, 2018. It is called a Supermoon because it is closer
to the earth than other moons and this could manifest in higher tides and have
a powerful effect on our consciousness. Mercury
in Cancer is forming a supportive sextile with Uranus in Taurus, which is a
positive welcoming influence for new ideas, perspectives and original
thinking. Be receptive to whatever comes
through to you during this new moon and set your new intentions carefully, as
this is an especially potent new moon.
Personally, this new moon falls in my 9th house and is
sextiling my Pluto in Leo and trining my Neptune in Libra, which I am hoping
will be spiritually empowering.
The Super New
Moon in Gemini also features a T-square between Mercury in 2 degrees of Cancer
and Chiron in 2 degrees of Aries with Mercury opposing Saturn in 6 degrees of
Capricorn. T-squares are annoying, but
they do have the power to energize us into making necessary changes and
preventing us from becoming complacent. Saturn
opposing Mercury can trigger themes of being judged or acting judgmentally
(Saturn loves to judge) or feeling victimized.
This can result in wounding words, but we have the choice to use our
words constructively to heal. With this
kind of energy, it is best to take the high road if possible.
I believe that
Mars in Aquarius will be playing a big role in this new moon as well. Just in case you were not aware that Mars is
slowing down for its retrograde phase to begin on June 26, 2018 through August
27, 2018, I am stating it again here.
Mars will have an extended stay in the sign of Aquarius this year due to
its retrograde. It entered Aquarius on
May 16, 2018, stations retrograde in 9 degrees of Aquarius on June 26th
and doesn’t leave the sign of Aquarius permanently until November 15,
2018. I will be covering this important
transit in more depth later. Aside from
the fact that my natal Mars is in Aquarius (you could say that I have a vested
interest in this transit), Mars in Aquarius has been conjunct the south node of
the moon in Aquarius in early June 2018.
It will be exact on June 10, 2018 in 7 degrees of Aquarius and Mars will
only be 2 degrees away from the south node on June 13, 2018. When Mars is conjunct the south node of the
moon, our desires from the past can resurface and we can find ourselves
connecting to past trauma or separation.
Since the south node represents our path of least resistance, we could
be dealing with our anger being easily triggered and resorting to habitual assertive
reactions. I believe that this influence
of Mars conjunct the south node ties in with the healing theme of the new moon’s
T-square. Many of us may find ourselves
in a place where we need to work through our emotional pain to heal during this
Super New Moon in Gemini.
If you are
curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including eclipses, Saturn and
Pluto in Capricorn retrograde, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus
in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an
astrological reading. A transit reading
might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in
Scorpio. Jupiter transits are all about
taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter. You have to be aware and strike while the
iron is hot. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of
services that I offer. There is something for everyone.
My site also
offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to
demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter

A contribution in any amount is deeply
appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.
Recently I
undertook an intensive life purpose coaching training program and became
certified as a Life Purpose Coach. It
was an intense, eye-opening experience that changed my life as it caused me to
reflect on the story of my life. But I
left it with feelings of hope and light for the future that I want to share
with others. To that end, I am now
offering Life Purpose Coaching to my menu of services. You can read more about it at:
As an
astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign.
If you are feeling stuck and need some help in getting from Point A to Point B
in your quest for making positive changes in your life, please email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to schedule a complementary telephone
consultation to discover if you are a good fit for this program. I look forward to hearing from you.
If you are in
the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for
Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to
healing. It’s a perfect way to start
your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot! Reiki is the most profound treatment for
stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their
schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently
begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.
I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a
session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a
state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation
to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I have also incorporated a new technique with
my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my
client. I use a teddy bear so that I can
scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you,
please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at
617-304-2205. I am also offering Reiki
treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.
But the big news is that I have created and
launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel
free to check it out at:
I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition
of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring
Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page. The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun
and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting
aspects. Please feel free to check it
out:
I have also revised my package deals and I am now
offering two options for package deals: Silver and a Tarot special for my tarot
clients. Please check it out at:
